Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort
The people were very friendly the service was great . the food was better than average the cable car tour was a blast. The ocean was beautiful and it was fun watching the cruise ships come in. The only issue was that they ran out if ketchup if u can believe that.
Riu Naiboa: Not Bad
The Hotel and it's grounds are very nice and well kept . The food at the buffet was well prepared and presented but pretty much the same day after day . We found the staff level of English not as good as in Cuba .
Sol Turquesa Beach: Huge Resort
Resort is starting to show its age.If you are a smoker than this is the resort for you.No consideration at all for those that don't.Lobby and lobby bar were like a seedy smoke filled tavern.Pools were large. Most of the staff were very pleasant but like everywhere, there were the share of Sour Pickles.Went to a show at the theatre one evening and had to leave due to the amount of smoke.Took three days to get the plug in bathroom fixed.Only 110 volt plug in room.Asked for king size bed,was given tw [... read more]
Riu Flamingos: Amazing tome
The hotel was clean rooms were great the food the staff the pool area and the overall area was beautiful ,the night life was also good there was lots of things for kids to do and the spa was great and the ocean was fun boogie boarding
Sol Turquesa Beach: Quality
Excellent resort. Been to many resorts in Cuba and this is by far the nicest. Great food, yes... I said great food, very personable and friendly staff, clean, well stocked.... Lots of walking. It would be a difficult stay for someone with disabilities due to the amount of stairs. very little nightlife and somewhat isolated for those looking to leave the resort. Great for families but if you are looking for a party resort this isn't it. Overall I was very satisfied and enjoyed my stay.
Riu Negril: Great trip- planning to return!
My wife and I just got back from our Jamaica vacation at the Rui Negril. Booked the trip through our Super agent Lisa Akenhead @ TripCentral in Ottawa. Everything was as expected. No surprises. Flight on Sunwing , transfers and check-in all went very well. The newly renovated rooms were spotless and kept very well during our stay. The hotel staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating. The food at the a la carte restaurants were very good. The Steakhouse was my favorite! Would not hesitate to [... read more]
Grand Memories Varadero: Nice week
This is an average hotel, not run down, but not glamorous either...we had a great week, with absolutely no problems. Being the beginning of the off season we had no problems finding chairs on the beach and pool...all was good. Best thing is when we arrived at 10 am our room was ready :)
Grand Memories Varadero: Soso resort
The staff was nice, the rooms need renovations! Lots of family. The resort was calm early in the evening. Did not like the food, always cold, nothing hot. Nobody came to offer us coffee in the morning at the buffet.
Riu Vallarta: Wonderful Place
Considering that the resort had not been upgraded for over 10 years, it is a very nice and clean place to go. Staff is wonderful, food is great and hotel overall is very clean and well kept. Big resort but it doesn't feel big. Not so good for single people. Very family oriented. The negative is that there are not enough chairs by the pool side or beach to accommodate all of the guests. Even thought there was a kid's pools, children did come into the other pool which was a bit bothersome sometime [... read more]
Grand Memories Varadero: Needs Updating!!!!!
This could be an amazing resort, it is in bad need of repairs our room's (had to change rooms) walls were all marked up, mold behind mirror, mold in shower, handle grip in shower falling off the wall, patio door had a big hole in screen, first room had sewage smell when you flushed the toilet, second room had musty smell when air conditioning was running. Public toilets were disgusting, mold covering lounge chairs at the pool, Lobby chairs were worn and filth, Buffett dishes were dirty, Main Buf [... read more]
Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Wonderful resort
Place was just lovely! The grounds were lush and tropical and the rooms were very nice. The beach is not overly long, but still makes for a nice walk. It was quite windy, but apparently that is normal. I liked the winds, otherwise it might have been a little too hot. Shouldn't complain though......was happy to leave Canadian temperature's behind. The food in the buffet was delicious. Lots of variety and very attentive staff. I would definitely return, as it was a perfect vacation.
Riu Santa Fe: Fantastic resort
We enjoyed staying at the Riu Santa Fe. Everyone was very friendly. The room was always clean. I wouldn't recommend going during spring break. The kids were very loud. The food was very good. We especially liked the Mexican restaurant.
Riu Emerald Bay: Great Spring Break Vacation
Just had a wonderful spring break vacation with my whole family at RIU and we absolutely love it! The hotel is a solid 4.5 star! Great food, clean rooms, beautiful ocean view(in every room) and excellent beach! The service of the hotel was very good and all of the staffs were kind and helpful. The drinks at the bars taste amazing. The temperature in Mazatlan was always nice in spring(about 26 degree all the daytime). We all love our stay and had a really unforgettable time there!
Riu Playa Blanca: Great quality resort!
This is a wonderful resort. The food is delicious, fresh, and lots of variety. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and beautiful. Loved the liquor dispenser in our room! The pool areas are awesome with lots of shady seats. Beach not so great but the pools more than make up for it! Staff are friendly and speedy. We had a great time!!
Riu Guanacaste: Best vacation yet!!
My family have done a lot of travelling and this was the best vacation yet. This hotel is magnificent. The food was delicious and plentiful everyday...i've never seen so much variety. The rooms were clean and modern, the grounds were beautifully kept and the beach was clean with chairs for everyone. The pool area offered lots of shade and lots of sun and no matter what time of day there were always pool loungers available. No getting up at 6:00am required just to save a seat. The staff were all [... read more]
Grand Memories Varadero: Nice resort!! Had a great time.
The tesort was very clean and groynds are beautiful! The food could have veen better but didnt starve thats for sure. Gained 3 lbs there! The entertainment was good and the staff are friendly. The beach is beautiful. The best stretch of beach on the strip i think. With 2 very large pools (one quiet and one with activities) there were plenty of chairs.Unfortunately, like all resorts, you need to reserve seats early to get shade. Many ppl do this and dont come back until the afternoon. grrrrr. Anyw [... read more]
Grand Memories Varadero: Beautiful beach and great resort staff!
We had a wonderful week enjoying the paddle boats, Hobie cats, snorkeling and sunbathing on the beach. Staff at the resort were excellent. A la carte and buffet meals very good. Clean rooms, clean warm pools & live bands almost every night. The entertainment was the best!
Sol Turquesa Beach: Good resort.
A lot of the older people in our group where not happy because of the size of the resort. I was fine with it, but be prepared for ALOT of walking. Would prefer less children or none at all. Children where being served at the bars before adults were?? Very clean and friendly resort.
Riu Palace Antillas: Needs to improvement to be five star
Very short drive from the airport which was great. Check in was fast. They upgraded our room because it was our wedding anniversary, very happy about that. Our floor was renovated but the room still needef much more work. Bathroom needs complete makeover. Water pressure so low you could barely shower, bathtub needs to be replaced, more comfortable chairs on the balcony. The bed was too hard. Room was cleaned every day, lots of towels, bar stocked every day. Wish they had brand name beer. Food wa [... read more]
Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Fantastic staff!
The grounds were beautiful and very well looked after, food got boring after the 4th day, was windy all week so we didn't spend a lot of time on the beach. The a la carte process was ridiculous. Stood in line for 40 minutes to be told that the Steakhouse had been booked but the staff member didn't bother announcing that so we only by chance over heard somebody say it as they walked by. Our room didn't have water a couple times but they quickly made the repairs so it wasn't off for very long. Th [... read more]
