we have wonderful time for our vacation and will come again .Weather was good sunshine water was rugh bu we went to Playa Sirena beach. covid was not problem nobody talking about it neither wearing musk like we in Torontoroom was very clean and changing linen every day in our resort food was some days good some not , but was O kay

Gran Muthu Imperial: Decent Resort

The resort itself is decent. Almost all the staff are amazing. The “beach” at the resort is pretty nonexistent and you need to either walk down to the right or left for any type of beach area. Pillar Beach down the road is breathtakingly gorgeous! Highly recommend visiting there!! The huge downside to this resort is the food. Now I know it’s Cuba, but the fact that there was hundreds and hundreds of flies on all the food in the buffet was disgusting. Either cover the food, or eliminate th [... read more]e problem. Some of the food was also recycled so many times that it no longer even resembled what it was supposed to be. There was scrambled eggs on the buffet that were literally dark brown!! Yuck! We met multiple people who got sick while there and it took over a week for my husband’s stomach issues to finally go away. The only saving grace was the hamburger (which is more like chicken?) and fries at the snack bar…this is literally what we ate all week. The drinks were all amazing and I was honestly shocked at how good they were. The infinity pool was a smoggy green color, even though there were maybe only 10-15 people using it daily. The view from our room was amazing (block 8) and we loved sitting out and watching the ocean. We even got the treat of a thunderstorm the one night. We also had small random items go missing from our room including some of my husband’s meds that were in the safe… Due to the many downfalls we experienced, we would not return to this resort. Ps all the landscapers worked so hard and were all amazing men. If you are going and can spare some socks for them, they are in desperate need!

Starfish Cayo Largo: Worst trip to Cuba in 30 years

Resort The resort is small, so walking from one place to another is easy. Our room was tiny, as in there was just enough space for a queen size bed and two small night tables. The staff were very accommodating however. Food We never go to Cuba expecting great food. That is simply just not part of the experience. However, on this visit the food was God awful and for the most part inedible. We were warned before hand that there were food shortages on the island, but we did not believe it was a [... read more]s bad as we were told. It was worse. For the first few days we simply ordered hamburgers (not so sure of the composition) from one of the snack bars. After three days we were told that they had run out of these, leaving us with nothing more than grilled cheese sandwiches. There was only one meal at the sole a la carte restaurant available during our stay. Pool When we arrived, the pool looked like a swamp. There was algae on the walls and the floor of the pool. On our third day the pool was closed due to bacteria. The next day the pool was shocked with what smelled like chlorine. That smell was pervasive for remainder of our trip. Since we wanted to keep our skin, we did not go in. Not having the use of the pool at a resort on a vacation is unforgiveable and a fundamental breach of contract with the vacation provider. Beach The beach was shorter than expected and the shore had more of a slope than we were used to. Some days had an accumulation of seaweed that was not cleared away. All of this is to say that Sunwing should be ashamed of itself for marketing a vacation package that they could not deliver upon. We love Cuba and have lost count of the number of times we have gone there for our vacations. We will certainly think twice about this in the future.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Cheap & Cheerful

The customer service is good. You won't starve. There will be temporary food shortages such as coffee or drinks or bread. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The staff really try to accommodate & give their best. The hotel is run down & not the cleanest. But, the staff & beach make up for it. Diamond Plus package will ensure you get a clean, updated room. This place is worth a visit if you pay max $750 per week. Activities are good, the staff plan well to entertain the guests.

Hotel Los Cactus: Amazing beach

Very nice hotel, good service enjoyed our stay! Amazing beach , quiet place good to relax . Food like everywhere in Cuba but we went there for sun and beach and we were not desaponted. Plus it was only adults.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Really Great Stay

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin was really great! The hotel grounds are beautiful, the rooms are new and very clean. The set up of the resort is easy to navigate and everything is within easy walking distance. You dont even have to walk in any rain, to get to the lobby and restaurants as there are covered routes to the main building. The food was very good and lots to choose from. You cannot expect it to be like home (or Mexico or DR) but the food was much better than I expected. If there  [... read more]is something that you cannot live without, take it with you (they had no ketchup, mustard, honey or peanut butter while we were there, but we just ate something else. No big deal). They also had a beautiful lobby, a sports bar, games room, and a good entertainment team. We didn't attend any shows so cannot speak to that. The Sanctuary check in/out, Sanctuary Bar at the lobby and beach, were a bonus. They made some great drinks. The beach is beautiful. Lots of chairs at the beach and pool and never had to save or wait for one (May). I prefer the beach at Cayo Coco and Santa Maria. This beach had some coral and rocks in the water, which for snorkellers, is a dream, but I prefer the straight sand. The beach had a nice stretch to walk, but not as long as Santa Maria. There were lots of coral and shells to pick from, as this is the only resort on this beach and hasn't been picked over. The plan we were told, is to build 19 hotels and an airport to service this area. Right now it is almost a 2 hour ride from the airport. But the guides on the bus were insightful and it was like getting a free excursion. I would definitely return.

Melia Las Antillas: Amazing beach!

Hotel and staff were friendly and always helpful. Resort is a bit out dated but kept very clean with good upkeep. Food was good and well prepared everyday. The beach is amazingly beautiful, we spent everyday there. There is no swim up pool bar, but there is a bar right next to the pool. Also, there are not a lot of shade options at the pool.

Memories Cayo Largo: Beautiful!

Amazing vacation. Staff went out of their way to make it special and it was. Only downside were the mosquitoes. They did spray several times. Can't escape nature. Just general info: you pay for everything with credit card but wifi not always reliable. Cuban currency not wanted. Not even at the airport.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing resort

We had a wonderful time at this resort beautiful scenery and beaches. Great temperature weather was great the staff was wonderful couldn't ask for a better staff there just like family. Would recommend this resort to anyone as a place to go to?

Paradisus Varadero: Absolutely stunning property and beach

The resort is located on a fantastic portion of Varadero’s beach and the grounds themselves are absolutely wonderful. We had a beachfront room, which is literally 10 feet from the beach making for very easy access and gorgeous views. The kids club team are an absolute treasure. Our kids loved spending the mornings with them and had very enjoyable experiences. This is unfortunately where things take a turn. On our second night, we visited the Japanese restaurant where we (and the tab [... read more]le adjacent) encountered cockroaches emerging from the hibachi table while the meal was being prepared. Literally crawling out of the table an onto the eating surface! This is the most disturbing thing I’ve ever experienced in a food service setting – People were rushing for the exit as if there was a fire. After abandoning the Japanese a la carte for the main buffet, we reported the issues to a gentleman who was a food service manager. He assured us this unheard of and must be an isolated incident……regrettably no less than 10 minutes later we found yet more roaches crawling on the wall beside the pizza station!! The staff seemed oblivious to the problem this posed and took no steps to close the area for cleaning, shoo them away and get back to serving was the order of operations. I approached the gest services manager about these issues and advised that we would not be eating on resort for the remainder of our stay. To the credit of this manager, she immediately made arrangements for us to access The Reserve for all meals and pre-booked our evening meals at the Reserve a la carte offerings. The difference in cleanliness and overall upkeep is literally night and day. The Reserve is spotless, all food service areas are immaculate and we had no worries or sight of further infestation. In closing – It is a beautiful location and grounds. Unfortunately, at the main buffet and a la carte areas, there is a serious lack of sanitary standards combined with a staff attitude that allows the issue to continue.

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia Marina Varadero Cuba - 04MAY2023

We have been to Varadero many times, staying at deferent resorts. This resort is located at the end of the Varadero peninsula, overlooking the catamaran marina. We were a group of 6, 2 couples chose the Level package and 1 Standard. The Level package allowed us to access to roof top Level restaurant for any meal and the food was good …. The staff tries hard to please guests with requests. The beach was a short walk over a bridge, you could also get a ride on the extended golf cart if you waited. Not really an issue. The two pools were large and warm. The highlight of any Varadero trip would be,” The Beatles Bar”. Live Rock and Roll music from 9-12. All 6 of us piled into a convertible for $30 US and headed into town for dinner and drinks at El Rancho, across form the bar. Overall, it was a good stay and we enjoyed ourselves

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing Beach Resort

I would have given 5 Star but curtain came off but didn't get fix and also the reading light was loose and was never fix. 2 days our coffee wasn't re-stocked the only provide 2 coffee capsules per day which is okay cause the lobby bar is open 24/7 BUT if you are not on the main Building then it's not good. There's only 1 pillow per person. But I will go back there again the Staff and Beach are Superb.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Modern simple no frills, nice beach

Very important to bring increments of $5 bills, i made mistake of bringing 20's and 10s as hotel would not change canadian money into CDN. So had no choice but to tip big $10s and 20s ....cuban money is too low in value - workers prefer cdn US and Euro...so regarding tipping, important to plan ahead. Nice hotel, modern, Food is better in ala carts, Japanese was great. Due to low season, not much food was available, When arriving, fridge in room had no water or drinks and no coffee pods, so  [... read more]to have coffee had to go to bar and drop $5 tip. Prefer adults only resort. Beach was amazing, that is what carries the resort. Not enough to bring me back to this resort. Because dining is importsnt to me as well. Aquasize on beach was good. Better food options is very much needed at this resort, a little overpriced for what you get in return.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Best beaches

Beach is stunning, gorgeous and clean. Staff is very friendly. Food selection limited. Disappointed that guava was not served every morning. Eggs should be served right away instead of asking once plates filled at breakfast buffet and waiting for attendant to ask if you want coffee. Being served eggs once I've finished my plate lessens the experience. I'm okay with eggs being rationed (beyond the resort's cobtrol), it's just the sequence of when they're served that could be made better. Long bus [... read more] ride from airport (90 min). Room could have been cleaner when we arrived. No cream liquers available. Don't bother with the pizza, not their specialty, its really bad LoL. Very quiet and calm resort, party is at other resort which you'll have access to, 5 minute cart ride. Despite the limitations it was great for a short vacay. No sargassum on the beach, just white sand and turquoise water. Beach with some rum and coke is all we really needed.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Lovely Resort with friendly people!

We enjoy a small resort and this is the best! Beach, pool, dining, bars and rooms all less than 5 minutes away. Staff all friendly and ready to listen. Special shout-out to Ms Sosa, Dary, Angel, Yan and super hero poolman Mario! This was my 2nd visit and I am looking forward to returning.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Mixed Feelings

I have been to Cuba a few times, first time in Holguin. When booking a Cuba holiday you know you are going there for the beaches, not for the gastronomic experience. However, from my previous travels to Cuba there were no complaints, there was always something you would find as a good option at the restaurants and bars. Not this time around. Regarding food choices, I can't say that there wasn't always something you could eat to not go hungry, but the issue we had was using the restaurants i [... read more]n the evenings. They sell the idea as in other resorts of booking at their a la carte restaurants that offer different options than the buffets available for lunches. However, this is not entirely true. The food offered/quality was the same as the lunches except your choices were limited because it went from a buffet to 3 things on the menu. Apparently the Asian restaurant is somewhat better, but we weren't able to get a reservation before we flew back home as our trip had to end before expected. The first night at the "Mediterranean" restaurant the air conditioner wasn't working. It was a sauna in the room. The waitress was literally dripping sweat. People were leaving the restaurant as they couldn't stand the temperature inside. We decided to stay as we appreciated the effort by the staff, but unfortunately the food was really terrible. We then stuck to eating from the Coral lunch buffet and putting away some of the food so we could have what was good for our evening meal in our room. As far as drinks, we were not able to enjoy a mojito as they didn't have the ingredients to prepare it. And when you finally found something you could enjoy, by the afternoon or the next day it was no longer available. Mixed feeling over this vacation come from the fact that the hotel facilities/rooms at the Coral were fantastic, as well as the pool. Yes, there a couple of things that are run down which is normal, but nothing that would break a vacation experience. Cubans are friendly and warm people and there is no question about that, that would always be a positive experience when you visit Latin America. However, this is a review based on my hotel/food experience and yes, although they (staff) are doing everything they can with what they have available, I find perhaps the owners could make a better effort to provide the real experience they advertise about their resort. If they can't provide good food/variation of food at the a la cart , then close them and focus on making the buffets better at night. In short, would I go back, absolutely not. And I also wouldn't recommend it to my family and friends purely based on the dinning experience and quality control. Do a little more research and maybe you will find something in the same country at a better resort. With respect, for me a vacation is a place to rest, relax and enjoy a different experience after long working hours and life commitments. The trip is not cheap, so I expect "some quality" (with a few reservations of course),and this is not what we got. Thank you.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful Resort!

We knew what to expect, only the best, another amazing stay! It’s our fourth time visiting this resort. We were welcomed by Lina’s amazing and efficient team! All staff members should be recognized for their professionalism and their impeccable hospitality! The presence of the general manager was much appreciated. As for wine; white, red, rosé, and sparkling wine were all available! Nice variety of drinks! Every night on the RS side, talented entertainment were scheduled! Check the daily activities posted. We enjoyed a nice walk in the nature with two energetic resort animators. Cuban day is on Wednesdays with very good food and entertainment on the main side beach! Liked the small catamaran ride! We also went to the market at Guardalavaca. Snorkelling was good! We saw lots of fishes and corals. Thank you to all for the amazing vacation!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Awful Resort

So so sad. I went to this resort in 2012, 14 and 17 and had a wonderful time. To say this time was a disappointment would be an understatement. This resort is literally falling apart. Nothing worked - our. air con, the keys, the toilet, you name it we had to go back to reception almost every day with a new problem. The food, which was never a strong point, is now abysmal. My daughter got food poisoning on her third day and couldn't eat anything but bread and sprite after that. There used to be a [... read more] really good pizza and pasta area, not anymore. Just some guy preparing overly salty fried rice and another who served me undercooked chicken (no joke). The beach is just a sliver of what it used to be. And the people, well let's just say that Cuban hospitality was not on show. People who work here are often angry and resentful (with a few notable exceptions). The only thing I enjoyed was the wonderful pool and the weather. Never never again. On the way back to the airport we spoke to a couple that stayed elsewhere (the Valentina) snd they had a spectacular time, for less money too! So it's not Cuba - it's this poor resort, that has totally been allowed to go to seed. Not 4 stars, hell I'd be hard pressed to give it 2. Date of stay: May 2023
