Memories Paraiso: Disappointed

Our trip did not get off to a good start. We were directed to our bus at the airport only to be told to get on another bus because that one was full. After being sent to four different buses and approx a half hour of walking in circles we got a seat however our luggage was on a different bus than the one we were on. We upgraded to Golden however did not feel it was worth it..the golden club supper in the outdoor restaurant is not a good place..biten by mosquitos the whole time. Valentin Perla Blanca: Nice Beach but that's it!

We visited this resort from April 16th to the 23rd 2016. We visited this resort from April 17th to the 23rd 2016. Well, where should we start. How about a summary. This resort is fairly new and basically very beautiful, situated on an amazing stretch of beach. That's the positive - now for the bad news. This place is way too large for the existing staff to handle. Lineups everywhere, always. Buffet too small to handle the stampeding crowds. The kitchen can't even keep up with replenishing food. [... read more] The a-la-cart's you must line up to pre-book and that's a 90 minute wait on average, only to go to the a-la-cart and find out they ran out of ingredients for your meal. General maintenance issues such as broken patio door hardware. Shower drain was plugged. If you want local currency that's another hour lineup too. Not much English speaking staff (but they smile a lot). Hot water seems to have random availability. Had so much standing in line time we were able to get similar comments from other guests. Will not return to this resort unfortunately.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Beautiful beach

The public bathrooms were closed and out of order most of the time ,so we had to go back to our room when we were at the pool or beach to use the facilities . Also the Italian Restaurant was so hot that one could not breath, so we left early.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Supert nice place wow

Hotel was awsome,nice people realy friendly and food realy good. The beach is beautiful and clean. The negatif part is the resort is 2 hours from the airport its a long drive in bus. But i recomand this hotel to everyone

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Good

The Resort was very nice and the beach was amazing . Our room was without hot water on two occasions . The room cleaning service was great. Friendly staff for the most part and I would go back again . Enjoyed the show at the theatre .

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Fantastic resort

Everything is well maintained. Gardeners working nonstop to keep the grounds looking wonderful. Our room was always well cleaned with lots of towel art. Plenty of hotwater and towels. We asked for oceanview and that is exactly what we received. An amazing view of the ocean! Mini fridge was also well stocked each evening. Food is cuban food. It was not fantastic but nothing to complain about. There was always a great selection. Night entertainment could be better.

Melia Las Dunas: Amazing Vacation

Hotel, surroundings, grounds and service was a high class. Very clean and nice. Staff was very helpful. The reason not to give 5 star is that the beach was very narrow. Unfortunately this happen few years ago due to a tropical storm. Hopefully we will go again.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Loved every second of it!

Staff are amazing, the Beach was the best i've ever been to. Food was...well It's Cuba. If it was prepared it was delicious. It's slightly falling apart, but meh...it's overall a fantastic experience.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing resort

We stayed here the last week in April, our first trip to Cuba. The staff were friendly and the beach was beautiful. The nighly enterainment was great. I strongly suggest the catamaran trip worth the money.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: #1 in Service

This was our 4th stay at the MCSM. The beach is stunning and the service is excellent. Food was actually pretty good for Cuba. Resort does need some tlc in places. Looking forward to returning next year.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Cuba's Gem

Lovely small resort suitable for older crowd. The grounds and accommodations were immaculate with very friendly helpful staff. The butler service was a nice touch. I found the food to mostly be average but some meals were incredible. If you enjoy lobster this is the place to be - had four dinners of the delicious crustacean. The Sunwing representative was very helpful. Buy the VIP airport lounge package for the trip home - it is a must. The pools, cabana's, gardens and of course the beach are al [... read more]l amazing. An ocean view room really does mean ocean view - it was spectacular. Only con is the long trip from the airport to the resort - about 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending of traffic - which includes horse carts and bicycles.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Disappointed!!!

This was truly a disappointment. The facility itself was beautiful, however the other problems were the issue. I paid extra to have an upgrade package. This package was to come with a welcome food tray and robes and slippers. Well, the food tray was a tomato on a plate. Day 4 into the vacation and still had not received the robe. The sta [... read more]ff were wonderful, they were obviously overworked and understaffed. Forget depending on the internet service, spent hours trying to get on line daily. There was only certain places you could get it, and no two days were the same. Then, if you could get online, you couldn't get off...this was ongoing day after day. There was nothing of a store around, except a little closet that cigars and liquor were sold. I could not get a calling card there, that was my preferred way to contact family. The bathrooms on the resort were always short on toilet paper.....and you could forget soap and paper towels. Some places, we went on excursions, there were no toilet seats, much less toilet paper. The landscaping was not well done. There was very little flowers, everything was so rugged and dry. There was a lot of walking to get around the resort. There was no directory in the bedrooms, therefore we did not know all the services ( i.e. could call and get a golf cart to pick you up) did not know until ready to leave. The one thing I can say is the beach is beautiful, however no better then dominican or mexico or florida.This was my first time to Cuba, and I will not be going back..

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Good value for the money

The grounds are lovely, the restaurants (buffet and A la Carte) are fine no issues. The beach is amazing....powdery soft white sand that you can walk for miles. The only real issue was the Public Washrooms, often only 1/6 or 1/8 fully functional at a given time.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Amazing vacation

First off I would like to thank Amanda Garlough for being so amazing. There was 18 of us that went and when we got to the Santa Clara airport there was a private VIP bus there to take us to our resort. During our stay we had an amazing time. The rooms however weren't cleaned on a daily basis but that was the only compliant I have. The resort was beautiful and the beach was absolutely amazing as well as the pools. One side of the resort was shut down however the pool was still being maintained so [... read more] with so many children with us we used that pool and it was like our own private pool. The food was well Cuba food but no one ever went hungry. The morning we departed once again a private VIP bus showed up to pick us up prior to everyone else at the resort so we were the first at the airport so there was no wait time. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: All this and a butler too??

The Royalton was truly a memorable experience to take home. The flowers, the people, the amazing beach and two pools that were pristine, welcoming and such a delight. The staff simply couldn't do enough for you. It was a spectacular vacation spot!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Great Trip!

The price was right to stay at this resort for a week! The bus ride is 1.5 hours to the resort from the airport so it would be best to book your flight so you arrive during daylight to see the wonderful scenery-- also they have beer on the bus for $2 so you can start your party! Check in was relatively quick and easy, the rooms were clean and nice looking. However, the pillows were not very comfortable and the shower had poor water pressure some days. There were multiple pools you could enjoy, i [... read more]f you prefer to be close to the "party pool"-- the one with music and activities-- I would look at the map and request a certain building because the resort is quite large and it might be a far distance to walk if you do not. The main beach is on the other side of the resort compared to the part pool, but it is a nice walk, and the lunch buffet is over there. The food was excellent, some of the best I've had in Cuba (6th time there). One bartender at the lobby bar was kind of rude and slow. Also, many of the workers seemed to expect tips and the bartenders split tips so you couldn't only target those that gave you good service. Overall, we had a good time!

Staff were extremely friendly and always went out of their way to please you. Very clean resort.Loved our room and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job.Would return again and recommend to family and friends.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Honest Review! Disappointed :(

I'm not one to complain and am easy to please...but here is my review! The grounds and hotel are beautiful! The groundsmen work hard to keep flowers..grass...looking beautiful! The rooms are kept nice and clean! Then comes the disappointing stuff! Disorganization among staff! When we arrived, the front desk did not have our room ready and we arrived around 4. The staff are very lax in customer service, meanin [... read more]g you can stand in front of them...and they don't acknowledge you for a very long time. The arrival set up is a fail! I've never seen check in so disorganized. I felt that some of the staff were not happy..not friendly and overworked! They need more staff! All of the bars were short staff, especially the lobby (biggest bar) which made it difficult to get a drink! They were selective to who they catered to..if you had pesos showing! The buffet (food) is not big enough to accommodate the amount of people they have at the resort! Food sections ran out several times. Line ups for stations were very long..sometimes up to 30 minutes! I'm not a fussy eater, and have been to Cuba many times...but the food at Valentin Perla Blenca was not the best and very little selections and the same food all the time! The beach is very crowded and not a lot of selection of chairs in shade! You need to get there early, but even then..you have people who save chairs when they are not even there all day! There are other little things you can live with...but I do hope they achieve a better resort for the future. Let's end on a good note>> The A La Carte Restaurants we went to were all good, especially the Oh, la la (French). The entertainment in the evenings at the theatre were spectacular! The choreograph for the dancing in their shows were beyond good....they were amazing. The choreographer needs more recognition! The beach was beautiful. Cayo Santa Maria have the best beaches. I know this is still a fairly new resort..of less than two years..but I wish to see progress and change on how they do things. I would not recommend this resort to my friends at this time! :(

Valentin Perla Blanca: great beach; lovely room

beach is superb but needs more shades. new buildings, great room; Entertainment was great; cuban live band in particular. Service in restaurants superb. Hotel is a bit too large so there is a problem with selfservice restaurant! Long lineups for currency exchange!

Melia Las Dunas: Great resort

The grounds were very lovely , beach awesome spent all my time there . There was a drop when going into the ocean but didn't have much of a problem with this . Everyone very friendly & kept everything well stocked . The meals were good . Staff very nice .
