Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing Birthday get away!

My boyfriend and I spent a week at Be Live Grand Marien to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we approached the check in counter we felt welcomed. We arrived at the resort around 3pm and we were invited to have lunch at the buffet restaurant while they finished getting our room ready. The food was delicious and when we returned to reception 30 minutes later our room was ready. We had a room on the 1st floor of the 4th block which is one of the non-renovated blocks, nonetheless the room was n [... read more]ice and spacious and very well decorated. The bed was massive and very comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast at the buffett almost every morning and they had a great selection of hot and cold food options, fresh blended on the spot fruit juices, fresh fruit, breads, and hot and cold cereal. The same buffett restaurant offers lunch and dinner, again great options during both food services with great staff taking care of you. We had the opportunity to enjoy 2 of the 3 a la carte restaurants as depending on the occupancy of the resort only 1 or 2 of the a la carte restaurants may be open on any given night. There is a rotating schedule which determines which restaurant will be open on which night, so I suggest you make your dinner reservations sooner rather than later. We enjoyed the Mexican restaurant which offered delicious food, I high recomment the Beef Salpicon appetizer...I could eat that and only that for the rest of my life! We had my birthday dinner at the Brazilian restaurant and what a treat it was. 7 different meats skewered and they come to your table and they tell you "say when" as they pile beef, chicken, pork, sausage, turkey, and 2 others onto your plate...absolutely amazing! We didn't get a chance to try the Gourmet restaurant but from what I was told it they offer an intimate candle lit 3 course dinner, it sounded lovely. The resort grounds were beautiful, very very clean, well maintained, everything looked picture perfect. The pool was excellet with a pool bar and great bartenders looking after your every need. The beach was just what we needed. Plenty of beach beds and lots of canopys to lay under. A little more seaweed than I liked close to the beach but it's all part of the experience. I didn't see any vendors on the beach which was very very nice. All in all, a great resort, not too big so it's easy to get around and all the staff if great. The entertainment staff are true artists ensuring you are enjoying every moment of your stay. Hector with the entertainment crew is a jack of all trades, truly wonderful to see how happy he is at all times ensuring you are always having a good time. It was our first vacation together and we enjoyed every single moment, I would go back in a heart beat!

Paradise Playa Dorada: The worst resort.

This hotel was NOT inclusive in my books because we had to pay $48 for one week of wifi and the wifi is not to the room it is to each individual's phone so my girlfriend had to pay $48 for wifi too. Totalling $96. Every step on resort grounds they are trying to sell you something as if we don't get that enough outside the resort from the locals. The food options are extremely slim. The staff working at front desk are not helpful at all and over all the hotel is for old people. It has no disco, b [... read more]asically one pool and no one works at the swim up bar. They actually have bingo night. I'm 28 and I don't party every night but the entertainment was sucked. We had to book excursions everyday jus to get out. It was awful.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Nope

Wont go back Rooms were outdated, constantly had to be calling maintenance to fix things in the room, broken fridge, broken handles on the drawers , the closet broke off the hindges, the shower soap holder was rotted off the handle, the balcony sliding door was hard to slide back n forth half the time the sliding door got stuck and the Dominican aggresive flies attacked our room. My husband and I tried killing the flies with towels but they wouldnt die lol. The toilet water keep running all nigh [... read more]t so our room was constantly noisey with the toliet water noise running all day n nite. The food was HORRIBLE, you would think the a la cartes would be better and it wasnt. They have a sea food a la carte BEWARE they make you pay extra for the sea food ( not sure why they even call it sea food a la carte ) . The waiter staff are rude, the staff can barely speak proper english or even understand proper english, they are only friendly to their own ppl or ppl who speak spanish. The beach and pools are OKAY, if your staying in Puerta Plata _ take the time and spend the money to grab a cab n visit the local beach Sosua ( GORGEOUS BEACH ) the ppl are bit nicer n friendlier there, u will find more english speaking ppl and ppl who understand english better. Gorgeous view and the food seemed a bit better there too. The Dominican men and women are very good looking just not the friendliest ppl unless your giving them money of course. Would i go back ? Ya - but not to that resort , for me and my advice to anyone who has never been there before _ spend the extra money and stay at a 5 star resort nothing less not even a 4 star _ 5 star or nothing if u want a decent stay down there_ or go to Punta Cana ( which I heard the beaches are much nicer ) al though Sosua was VERY NICE ! More actions and parties and more things to do in Puerta Plata thou.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Nice people

Everyone from the maids to the owner is nice and friendly. Food was surprisingly good! I was thinking that i should go for a 4 or 5 stars hotel but trust me this Grand paradise is right as it is! If you want to book don't hesitate

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Amazing resort!

the grounds very clean, the rooms were nice and updated with flat screen t.v. the beds were very comfortable the wash rooms were updated with tub and shower, but some rooms had no hair dryer, they installed a hair dryer on the third day of my stay, the food for me was awesome I did gain some weight lol, the front of the resort didn't impress me at all, but when I walk into the grounds of the resort it just wow me. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Nice Resort

The hotel was great, rooms were clean, AC worked perfectly. The buffet was a bit limited, too much of the same thing all the time. Restaurants were great, especially the seafood. I loved my dinner there. I did not like that fact that I lost 2 hrs out of my vacation because this company on the resort was trying to sell me time share stuff. That should be advertised, and if you are interested, then you go check it out. The worst thing for me was the peddlers on the beach. there was no peace and qu [... read more]iet. for the 7 days that I was there, they kept coming at you everyday. I prefer spending my time at the beach rather than by the pool, but it was not very relaxing for me, which is why I chose this resort. It was adult only, so I thought it would be more quiet. I really enjoyed the nightly entertainment. The team was great, they would always great you outside of the entertainment. All in all it was a great experience, but I personally would not go back there.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Wonderful Vacation!

This Resort was more than we expected. We checked in to our room and were a bit disappointed at the rundown appearance, but the staff quickly showed us a few rooms and we were given one that was beautiful, with no fuss. The shuttles to and from different pools, beach, restaurants were extremely awesome and quick. This is a great feature for seniors who may have a hard time walking the huge property. They knew us by name, had our drinks out before we ordered and went the extra mile to make it a fun and memorable evening. The pools are beautiful and relaxing. I love the chair shelf where you could lay on a chair in the water to cool down. The beach was a bit rough , not the prettiest but the pools more than made up for it. The beach offers lounge chairs and beautiful beds to lay on and the view is stunning. I heard much talk about the VIP beaches and restaurants, but honestly, all the VIPS were at the resort pools and restaurants because there is more action. The VIPs are good if you prefer private vacations. The staff made this vacation the best. I'll not forget Wilfredo, Jackson and Louisa in the main buffet ask for them , you will not be disappointed. Ricardo was a wonderful driver and valet. We did Sea World and the Royal dolphin swim. I've done this several times each at different places, this was by far the best and well worth the money. The city tour was awesome as well, if you want to just enjoy the sites and a bit of shopping. Over all I was very impressed and the overall resort is breathtaking and we are planning our next vacation with our family to this resort!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: VERY GOOD RESORT

ROOMS VERY GOOD IF YOU TIP. FOOD VERY GOOD. THE ONE THING THAT I DID NOT LIKE. THE NIGHT BEFORE WE LEFT I WENT BACK TO MY ROOM TO WATCH TV AND IT WAS TURNED OFF. THIS UPSET ME GREATLY! CHG. THIS AND I WILL BE BACK

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing people, amazing resort!

My daughter and I have met the most amazing people ever!!!!! The night shows and the entertainment team are, by far, the highlight! I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wants to relax and party! We hope to see you all again next year!!!! :) Cheers, Oana and Dorina

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Decent resort, bad local tourists

The resort, the food, the staff, the animation team and the beach were pretty decent for the price paid. However, over the week-ends the resort got invaded by locals. They are noisy, unpolite, unconsiderate and behave like fricking savages. They were practically everywere, in the pool, on the beach, at the restaurant making sure to ruin every moment of your day with their incessant screaming, loud talking, splashing, rude playing, smoking and their annoying music. Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice resort

Food is good. We didn't try other restaurants, we ate buffet everyday. People are very friendly and accommodate your needs in every way. Beach was very nice..Very clean..recommend upgrade to Superior rooms.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Terrible

From the moment I arrived with the front desk trying to make me take a superior room instead of my suite that I booked - Always take 2 copies of you travel documents with you, they will take your hotel documents and then tell you that you booked a different category. When the see that you have an extra document the will back down and give you your proper room's(don't give them you 2nd copy) The buffet food for breakfast was terrible consisting of boiled potatoes, fried hotdogs, what I think was  [... read more]suppose to be scrambled eggs(never touched them) and a section were you can have your eggs cooked, mine was always runny even though I asked for fried. They are suppose to open at 7:00am but are never fully ready with the bread and stuff like the toaster, butter, fruits juices, try going around 8:30am they might be ready. Lunch same thing Dinner not much of a choice 2 items to choose from, I took the beefsteak and it came to me so shinny I could see my reflection in the meat (that's no JOKE). Needless to say I went out almost everyday to eat. Big waist of a al-inclusive. Folks I have been traveling to Puerto Plata for 20 years all with in this compound of Playa Dorada. I can tell you that this resort (CELIUSMA) is the worst I have ever stayed at in the Playa Dorada complex. A great hotel to Recommend to your Enemies.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Really good foe what we paid

Place was nice right in town that was cool food ok resort was nice as well rooms were simple but clean didn't like time shares s they walk around all day bugging you had to tell no more then once other then that wait tell last minute u get really good deal wouldn't pay more then 700 a person for this trip

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Love the beach!!!

The size of this resort is overwhelming!!! We were fortunate enough to stay in building 307 - close to pools, the beach, and Pearl Buffet. I appreciated the fact that you can make à la carte restaurant reservations each day rather than eating at the Buffet. The food was good - always many choices to satisfy your every whim. Transportation to the various beaches and restaurants was provided and always arrived in a timely fashion - if we had to wait, it was 5 minutes at the most for the shuttles. [... read more] The main beach was never crowded and we always managed to find a bed. However, the one down side has to be the many stairs leading to the Cofresi lobby area. If someone has difficulty with walking up or down stairs, this resort would pose challenges.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Okay resort

I was getting married , they didn't give us a king sized bed they attached 2 single beds in one which was so un comfortable our tv was broken every time we called they said they would be right up but never came . The food made me really sick and my husband is from the same city and he got even more sick from the food . Verry repetitive . The pizzeria on the top floor was the only good spot I found didn't make me sick , the pool was massive but filled with kids and hotter water then I would have  [... read more]in my bath . The beach is gorgeous as always . The people are rude who work there and to many locals .

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: It was ok

The resort is tired and in need of some TLC. The room was musty and the furniture was beat up, the worst part was the beds they were so uncomfortable. The food was really good and the people were really nice. They have people constantly trying to get you to buy shares so just be adamant from the beginning you are not interested.

This resort exceeded my expectations. I was a little hesitant as I have been given recommendations for other resorts before and the hotels were not ok. The pool is great and really big. I did go in July so most of the tourists were locals and mostly spoke spanish. It was quiet and relaxing. Rooms were standard, clean. Mini Ants were an issue in bathroom, but you will tend to see this alot of places you go. It did not interfere with our stay. The food was good but not much variety. I recommend that you ensure you make your reservations and go to all of these. The food was great! The activities were also really good. Very friendly staff and there were activities every day. We had great weather every day, no rain for the full week we were there. The beach was ok, but due to very high winds, the sand blew all over so it was not an easy maintenance I'm sure for staff. The resort is amazing place it self. But the beach is too deep if yoo goo weth smal cheldren you can not go to the water and the Waws are to big . Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Amazing Resort

My wife and kids went there in april of 2014 ,we realy did have good time, the kids love it there, they also like the the guy {Alex} who always saying i love my job he is realy funny, the food was great and the staff was amazing and realy friendly ,we all love it there we would go back tomorrow

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: not a pleasant experience

The hotel ground is kept clean. However this resort may.have a serious big rats infestation. The large rodents jump freely in the main lobby during day time and hit my daughter leg. We have been @ this resort three times with no plans to ever return again.
