Mar Del Sur: Once is enough!

Rooms-no hot water, balcony door wouldn’t lock, safety deposit was a joke Pool was dirty, music was loud, public washrooms were dirty, no toilet paper Dining room -food was blend and lots of flies, Beach area was dirty, no garbage cans Beach bar was empty Cats were malnourished Mosquitoes were everywhere All inclusive wasn’t really inclusive!

Melia Marina Varadero: Elevator hardly worked

Hotel had a nice view of Marina. This Hotel is not on the beach, it is across the street. Our room safe didn't fully lock and 110$ went missing. It was reported to staff, no report was taken. Staff not concerned. Hotel elevator hardly worked, we were on 5th floor, lots of stairs to walk. Food was rice, beans, cooked pumpkin, lots of cabbage. Its Cuba, we don't expect gourmet food.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: MEMORIES FLAMENCO - CAYO COCO CUBA

This was my 7th trip to this hotel and my last. The only positive was that the room was clean. Other than that there is nothing positive to say. Buffet was hot and steaming with no air conditioning. Extremely poor selection of food. Bars did not provide anything but rum. No Coke or Pepsi or Ginger-Ale or Sprite. Our bar fridge in the room was empty. No pop just 2 small bottles of water and only if you asked for water. Took 4 phone calls and 2 1/2 hours to wait for water and extra pillows [... read more]. I am handicapped and usually can walk with a cane but the grounds were terrible and I ended up spending 4 days in the room. My husband had to get me food at the buffet and bring it to me. I asked for a room as close as possible to the buffet but my request was ignored. I couldn't take a shower because the room had a high tub and I couldn't get in to it. If you are handicapped than I don't recommend this hotel at all. Horrible experience and was hugely disappointed in the deterioration of this once great hotel.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Great overall

Resort was clean, most of the staff was nice, overall a decent experience, rooms where new and nice, food was decent for Cuba but you can’t go with high expectations, didn’t notice any shortages untill our last day, it was off season so not everything was operating 100% but didn’t effect us much, entertainment is good, and the beach here is 10/10, you can’t go to Cuba expecting everything to be perfect all the time, it’s very safe as resorts are 30 mins from towns, overall it’s a gre [... read more]at budget vacation and I would recommend 100%

Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort

Hotel was great second time going there with my wife. We enjoyed the a la carted restaurant specially the Italian restaurant. The entertainers were amazing it was good to see familiar faces. I will be coming back again with family

Hotel Mojito: Amazing Resort

This hotel is dated however, it is kept very clean and the grounds are meticulous! The staff are outstanding. In the 12 years we have been going to Cuba, this is honestly one of the best resorts as far as staffing goes. Doesn't matter how crazy busy it gets, the staff are always smiling and always there to take care of you. The beach is amazing!!! The water is definitely gorgeous! The beach is always clean and there are always palapas available.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Really nice resort

The staff were very friendly, rooms and grounds were to my standards. The beach was incredible! There was always food, they repeated the same dishes but my husband and I ddn't mind! We will definetly go back! The 50 minute ride to the resort was not bad!

Starfish Cayo Largo: Not for everyone

Returned from the Starfish on May 13th 2023. This resort is not for everyone. This was our second visit and we went because the weather at home was not great and the price was right (650 cad per person). PROS. the weather was great..nice pool. Quiet because there is only about 20% capacity. Playa Sirena is still amazing. CONS The beach at the hotel is minimal having eroded away and this time there was lots of seaweed. The hotel (and I assume the island) is suffering from shortages of ev [... read more]erything so the food was not good (we don't expect a lot in cuba for 650.. but it was Not good). They run out of wine and liquor. The staff did not seem nearly as friendly as they did on our last trip in January. We were ready to come after about 5 days. It is a unique environment and if you are prepared for a Gilligans Island experience..Go for it.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Relaxing Getaway

Overall resort layout was great. Many areas to lounge with pools on 3 levels. Beach access was limited with rock close to the pathway/bar, you have to walk down the beach a bit to get a chair, so bar was not easily accessible. The food was typical and always a good qty with various options, as picky eaters we managed just fine (be aware there is a lot of flies), yes we have flies but what you would expect…it’s x10. Overall we had a good time, it was a nice place to relax but should mention the music was really loud on the middle level daily close the snack bar.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: 6 Years Between Stays. Some things stay the same and others dont

We spent 2 weeks at this resort almost exactly 6 years ago in May 2017 and again just got back in May 2023. Im often surprised by people being surprised when they fly in to Santa Clara and didnt realize there is a 1 hr and 40 min bus ride to get to the island if Santa Maria and the resorts. Its not the hotel staff's fault! We loved the staff, the specialty resturants and a la carts are good. The resort is well run in that the grounds are clean and well card for, and there wasnt anything not open for business despite the resort only at about 20% capacity. The only concerns we have with this resort since our last stay is the buffet. The food is often cold even if you go in right when lunch or supper starts. Many times Id go in and pick something simple like potatoes and a chicken dish, its under warming lights but the food is barely at room tempeture if not still seeming cold as if just pulled from the fridge from the previous offering. That and there is no effort to control the birds coming in the buffet. The entrance doors are broken so when someone enters if the door isnt closed manually behind you birds come in and start walking all over the counters, pick at the cold meats and veggie plates and walk all over the bread station breads amd desserts! Something needs to be done about this from a sanitary perspective let alone appearances when no staff try and shoo the birds out. The work around here is they always have fresh cooking stations for omletts, fish, beef etc, and those cooks work so hard. Just avoid the cold food section and bread section due to the birds crawling over everything if you care about that. It is a well laid out resort. If you want a party pool the have that. If you want a quiet pool they have 3! 2 of the quiet pools are almost olympic pool length if not exceeding if you like swimming laps. They work hard and we tipped for everything as it was always earned. The beach is amazing and I have never been to a resort with better shade structures. There is so much shade from the cabanas built there is always sun or shade for everyone at the beach. Shade at pools is tougher. They have some nice cabanas but not alot. And some of them have just some cloth running through posts with gaps so sun is still gonna get you. Those could be updated with solid roofs which would increase shade offerings by the pools. The pools are big and they really want you to have a good time. They just need to get the buffet issues sorted out which I think are easy fixes by changing the re-heating food process and fixing the door hindges on the entrances. Would return, but likely not eat much like this trip if buffet issues remain. If you dont care about food that much and your fine with the bus ride (its long but pretty) its a great vacation spot and Ive been to many resorts in many countries since 2005.

Hotel Los Cactus: Staff are amazing, resort not so much!

Grounds are not maintained, needs major overhaul. Buffet restaurant needs to meet basic hygiene regulations, flies all over food, cats roaming around waiting to jump up to take leftover food. No butter, condiments, salt & pepper scarce and had to be requested. Food and alcohol shortages every day, different items not available on different days. Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Very good

I have very good time, Beach beautiful, clean and service very friendly .I have very good experience, and recommend to my friends and family this resort. I had amazing time in this resort. Food good and excellent variety.

Paradisus Varadero: Overall 4*

Staff are super friendly! The rooms are large! The pools and beach are amazing. I wish there was more food selection but I understand with the food shortage in the country I can’t complain, food tasted good. I wish there were more different activities everyday instead of the same thing everyday basically. Also I was disappointed all the water activity facility was closed? Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Awesomely Relaxing

This was my second stay at this resort, first time was twelve years ago. For me, its about the size of the resort, and Starfish Cuatro Palmas is the perfect size. This trip, paid a little extra for a room on the resort, well worth not having to walk across the street from the econo building( which also was great). Greeted every day by friendly staff, cleaning staff, ground keepers and security staff. The food was great, plenty of items to choose from in the buffet. Pasta station each day for lunch and dinner, dessert selection amazing and the breads, the best I've had in the twenty years i have been going to Varadero. Lobby bar was good for basics, but the Cuban bar on the resort was outstanding as was the a la carte dining. Some items, unfortunately were not in stock at all times, but this is a global issue, not just Cuba. Location of resort is the best, as the area across the street is now The Boulevard, full of little restaurants and such. The wifi at the resort was far better than expected, so communicating home was not an issue. Can't wait to return for my next visit.

Melia Costa Rey: Nice new resort

everything was great, grounds, rooms etc. only draw back there is stairs from lobby to pool area & buffet the elevator was not working would not suggest to anyone with wheelchair, walker and cannot climb long stairs. Can tell shortage of food in Cuba

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful beach

It was a stressfull holiday for me, the flies on the food was horrible.My first 3 days we stayed in building 24 we had no hot water , no water pressure plus cockroaches in our room . The girls in the dining room were not friendly and had attitude. On the plus side the grounds are wonderful the beach is amazing but that was my first visit and my last. After many complains we went to building 23 much better hot water and pressure but there was bugs in our room i couldn’t wait to come home. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Beautiful Resort!!

A week at the Royalton was absolutely amazing. We went there to celebrate our honeymoon and babymoon. The beach was breath taking and the staff were amazing and kind. The general manager went above and beyond to make our stay amazing and we appreciate him so much! We can't wait to return next year to this beautiful resort. We miss it already.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Cuba 2023 Grand Muthu Imperial

Small resort, very clean. Food was as you would expect for Cuba. You won’t starve but very limited selection, and oh my the flies!! Beach left much to be desired full of seaweed, and a good distance from the resort. Had a great week of beautiful weather. I won’t go back to this resort simply because if the beach situation.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Amazing Beach

The beach was definitely the best part of the resort. Absolutely amazing. Staff are friendly, work hard and do the best with what they have to help you out. Facilities is in need of maintenance and could use a good refresh and deep clean, but didn't spend much time in our rooms.

Barcelo Solymar: Not good at all

Pools were dirty, food was so bad my husband and I got sick with diarrhea, barely any food only ham and bread sandwiches rooms keys constantly break, no activities nothing to do. And was super expensive Maybe if this place was a lot cheaper it’d be worth the price But this was not the best experience Only good thing is this place was by the town where the food was much better and the beaches.
