Melia Peninsula Varadero: Ok resort....I would not consider it a 4.5 star.
Large resort with nice vegetation. The rooms were large but were dated. The shower leaked every time we used it. Room location was great.....close to pool and beach. We were traveling with my elderly mother and it was too much walking for her. They did have golf carts but not enough. When we called we would wait at least a half hour for one to come or not come at all. The food was good for Cuba. The staff were amazing and friendly. They do their best with the resources that they have. Th [... read more]
Memories Cayo Largo: Sol Cayo Largo- Wonderful Vacation destination
The rooms and public areas were all clean and well maintained The pool looks to have been recently refurbished The staff were all exceptionally friendly and polite Of course the beach was spectacular and you could walk for miles on white sand looking at the aqua green water I was onderful
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Nice well laid out resort
The Melia Pennisula is a well laid out resort. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. The transat representative informed us of many things to do at Veradero. She reserved us a spot at a private house for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. There was a gentleman by the name Yoyo and he often worked at the pool snack bar. What a pleasure he was. The entertainment was very good and catered to all ages. The ground keepers were also very friendly and awesome to talk to. I would not recom [... read more]
Melia Las Antillas: Disappointing
This was our first trip to Cuba and it will be our last. The staff we're undertrained and under staffed. The resort is in desperate need of repairs and updates. The best thing about it was the beach. Drinks and food were bad both my husband and I got sick from the food. His lasted a day and mine is still ongoing a week later after getting sick. Will never stay at a Amelia resort again.
Hotel Vigia: Loved It !!
Myself and my boyfriend visited this resort February 2017 and had a great time. If you are ok with older rooms (not as modern looking) then you will be very pleased with the rest. The food was good, plenty of options and made to order options so you do not feel like you are only having buffet for a week. This resort recently opened a new restaurant that has a sit down menu and does not require a reservation which was another great option. The pool was big and always clean. The beach was ama [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: great beaches!!
Everything was ok except the lineups to get eggs in the morning or fish at lunchtime. These were the 2 most nutritious meals but the hardest to get. The beach was wonderful and lots of lounge chairs... The rooms were very clean which is most important
Memories Cayo Largo: Repeat Customer
This was my second time at Sol Cayo Largo Cuba. Friendly and inviting staff. Amazing beach. I recommend a beach front massage with Luis. Great deep massage therapist. Say hi for me. (Cristina in Canada :) Fresh food. Rooms are good. I'll definitely be going back
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good all around
The hotel needs a little cosmetic update and the food was good. The service was excellent and the beach was fantastic. The room we stayed in needed some work however it didn't stop us from enjoying it
Sol Varadero Beach: Average
The hotel was below average and scketchy . The service there was very dissapointing , money was all that they seemed to care about, even when you would tip they would ignore you and we're very unpleasant . As for the food it wasn't the best as we excepted being in Cuba.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Cuba Si!
Overall, good. Food in buffet was not so good, so primarily ate in the restaurants. Some meals excellent; all were OK. Drinks fabulous. Mostly, service was good, servers friendly, except for some reason in the hotel lobby, where service was poor - the one place it should have been outstanding. Room great, clean; beach awesome; pool area good also. Cuba itself has a fascinating history, people are friendly, and it felt very safe. I would return here.
Melia Jardines del Rey: Melia Jardines review
Very large resort , line ups for food where sometimes very long . The Al-a-carts where very good . Great beach Be prepared for the mosquitoes at night . They come out in droves . The resort only sprayed the site once .Most of them ended up in the first and second floors of the units . Management did not respond to our requests for our room to be sprayed .Had to sleep most nights with a sheet over your head .would wake up in morning with bits all over your body . Housekeepers are the best on [... read more]
Tryp Cayo Coco: Amazing Beach!
The grounds are lush and beautiful, the Oriental and International restaurants are excellent, can't comment on the others as we did not go to them, however friends of ours bragged about how good the BBQ restaurant was. The buffet was what you would expect at any Cuban resort, always find something to eat. The drinks are plenty strong enough. Bartenders were all friendly. We stayed in room 706, it was dated, but clean. I find the beds damp, so I put down the blanket found in the closet, tak [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: Very disappointed
It started from the word go! when we arrived after a lengthy 2 hour bus ride, the front desk advised us that our rooms would not be ready till 3-4 o’clock so when arriving at 1100 am and having to wait around in the lobby with your luggage until your room is ready is not a good start to a "5star resort" with no compensation or any kind of "We are so sorry" instead wait!, we finally get to our room(ocean view)...300 feet of forest outside your window and stand on your toes to get a glimpse of t [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Holiday from Hell
Hotel was poor I guess our expectations were to high food was tasteless and nothing restaurant washrooms were filthy seemed like they haven't been cleaned in weeks telephone in our room didn't work asked for 2016 more pillows never received I got them from the maid finally our friends room didn't have a toilet seat staff friendly wife had to go to medical clinic got dignitary very disappointing
Melia Marina Varadero: Great place for a vacation!
This is a fairly new resort that just started offering an all inclusive option. We stayed in a room on 'the level" (which is the upgraded room). If you can, pay for the level upgrade, It was worth it. The rooms were great and the beds quite comfortable. There was no door or curtain on the shower which was a little odd. The pool was great, however, there is no deep end. The food was very good considering it is a Cuban resort. I was not impressed with the Asian a la cart , but the F [... read more]
Paradisus Varadero: Best beach in Varadero
This hotel has by far the best beach and grounds in Varadero, our rooms were newly refurbished from last year when we had said that the hotel looked very tired, now painted inside and out with new European type fixtures and showers , Glass from floor to ceiling ,all new porcelain tile, toilets etc. The resort looked almost brand new, Problem is that they were not able to fix the hot water problem, they tried but failed, we had to shower in warm water, They also need to address the cleaning of th [... read more]
Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: great resort
Good hotel.Clean and well maintained grounds. Room was clean, but the bathroom needs a new bathtub(in a very bad shape - stained and chipped) Housekeeper did a great job. More hangers in the closet would be helpful
Melia Cohiba: Sadly in need of TLC
The Melia Cohiba is an example of fine modern architecture in Havana. This glass and stone structure was beautifully designed and constructed. Sadly, the building is not maintained to its original beauty. The smog of Havana is evident on the blackened stonework all around the building. Exterior steel in the pool area is in dire need of painting. The pool area, also beautiful in design, is detracted by the lounges that are uncomfortable and in need of of relacement as well as the view [... read more]
Melia Las Dunas: Not the greatest
The grounds, bars, pool areas are beautiful and staff are great. The hotel rooms are a little run down and dated. The shower head was split. We were told not to flush the toilet paper as the pipes were too small. The buffet food was mediocre.
Melia Jardines del Rey: our stay at the melia jardin del rey
This is not a 4 star hotel! The first room we were given was coated in mosquitoes and dead mosquito guts. The room and area stank of sewage and even parts of the beach reeked of septic system. The shower didn't work properly and we constantly had to beg for towels. Beach towels were a rare commodity so once you got one you had to hang onto it as there were no clean ones to exchange it. It was understaffed and in horrible condition for a two year old building. I am covered in mosquito bites! Have [... read more]
