Melia Cayo Coco: Nice but not a 5 star

Good service and the staff are incredibly friendly however this is definitely not a 5 star resort. The pool is filthy and also has broken tiles all over, the gazebos around the pool are falling apart and have exposed nails all over them, they’re also never cleaned and are filthy. However the beach is beautiful if you prefer that. The food is meh, not great, but not terrible either. The upgraded rooms are very dated, but certainly not bad at all, they’re kept clean.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Horrible experience from start to the finish

Sunwing should be ashamed to send customers to this resort. The flights, hotel, food, customer service, drinks ( lack of) contributed to the worst trip we ever experienced! We will be looking for a refund! As well as formally entering a complaint about the deplorable conditions we experienced. I gathered video and pictures of the mould infested buildings, the broken glass in the hallways, blood dried to the floor, ceilings falling in due to water damage, no air conditioning in our room for 3 day [... read more]s ( temp inside the room was 29 deg C), the fight in the lobby with hotel staff and a guest, the flies covering the food and the lack of water to bath in and to drink. I want to add that we expected some difference in the Cuban and Canadian standards but this was completely over the top!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort!!

Looking for great sun, lots of ocean, long sandy beaches, a variety of pools ,and extra friendly staff...Paradisus is your place. Leo was our concierge and the best ever to look after all your needs and to make a-la-carte arrangements. The Cuban government need to step up their trade with other world countries. Their people live in poverty and this affects what Cuba can offer tourists. Red, white wine and champaign were almost non-existent as well as many cocktail ingredients....lots of rum! Eve [... read more]ry meal looked like the last....no variety. Beef in Canada can be AAA quality...beef in Cuba must be DDD quality. My heart goes out to the staff who have to serve these meals. Cuba...you have great resorts and staff ..Improve your trade relations and bring the resorts and amenities up to a realistic 4* and 5*...right now, they are nowhere near 4* designation. AirCanada and other tourist agencies need to seriously re-evaluate their rating systems!!!

Hotel Playa Coco: Potential

This hotel definitely has potential. Unfortunately when we arrived though they closed everything we were excited for. There were Maybe 20 people at the resort so they closed the night shows and all food places except for 2. We were so disappointed. Nothing to do in the evening without night entertainment. We feel we should have been offered compensation for everything being closed.

Grand Memories Holguin: Top notch resort

Grounds were well maintained. Rooms were very nice. The only complaint with the room was the lack of bottle water being left in the bar fridge. We were told it was due to lack of plastics to make the bottles. Other than the first two bottles on our first day, we refilled our bottles at the bar, and once received two more bottles from the staff we met in a hallway. Iberostar Coral Holguin: This is now my GO-TO resort!!

This was my second trip to Iberostar Coral level in Holguin. My first was in January 2023 and as soon as I got home I booked this trip to return in April 2023. Yes, it was that good!! If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in a beautiful location, this is the place for you. The entire resort is extremely well kept, clean and welcoming. The butler service is an amazing extra! My room was cleaned spotless every day, so a special thanks to the housekeeping staff. Are there shortages? Of course there are; but the staff are excellent at working with what they have and trust me, you will not go hungry or thirsty! I have travelled to Cuba many many times and I have never felt more welcomed than I did at this resort. The pool is amazing; clean and inviting. The beach, well there are 2 of them, one smaller about a 5 minute walk from your room and the other, larger one is maybe a 10 minute walk; but BONUS, you can get a shuttle to either of these if you would rather not walk. Both are clean and inviting with plenty of lounge chairs. I could go on, but let's just say I doubt I will go to any other resort from now on, and that's saying a lot!! Love it!!

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Just OK

I recently stayed at this resort and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. The lack of basic necessities such as water and toilet paper was frustrating and made the stay uncomfortable. Additionally, the lack of food options was disappointing and not what I expected from a resort of this caliber. The substitution of alcohol with other alternatives was not a suitable replacement and detracted from the overall experience. The bug situation was also a major issue. However, I must acknowledge that the beaches were beautiful and the people were wonderful. The natural beauty of the area was truly stunning and the locals were welcoming and friendly. Overall, while the location and people were lovely, the lack of basic necessities and bug situation made for an unpleasant experience. I hope that the resort management can address these issues to improve the experience for future guests

Blau Varadero: Great resort!

Great resort! Staff was wonderful, beach was fantastic. Food was great with a good variety. Room and balcony were very spacious. Jazz band was great! Overall wonderful resort that we would highly recommend!

This resort was just wonderful, the grounds were so well maintained and everything well kept and beautiful! The beaches were spectacular and the service was absolutely great!The staff was so accommodating and pleasant, I absolutely loved this resort and would recommend it to anyone!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Incredible Vacation!

We visited May 1 to May 8, 2023 with our family and another family. The resort and food were great and the beach was beautiful. The entertainment team was exceptional, having been to many other resorts it was honestly the best we have experienced. We are definitely missing the afternoon poolside zumba and theme parties led by TNT and Hugo, it was a blast every time. We would like to thank all of the staff for an amazing vacation!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Fun times

The hotel is small very easy to get around and beautiful views. The staff are gracious and quick to help with any concerns. Our room was ocean view a beautiful view from each door one the ocean and one the pool! Housekeeping staff do an amazing job and are very helpful. It was definitely notable there are food shortages so if you need your condiments take them with you! Also I was very disappointed they did not have wine all week! Not sure why this happened. The beach is amazing!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Wonderful Vacation

Memories Caribe is an awesome resort. It is easy to get to the lobby, pool, beach and buffet. The beach is stunning with soft sand and crystal clear turquoise water and has a nice gradual entrance. Great for long strolls! I have been to Varadero and Cayo Santa Maria and this beach is by far the best! I stayed for 2 weeks and had beautiful weather (36-40°C) everyday except for 1 day when it rained for about 2 hours. My room was very clean with a renovated bathroom and shower that had great pres [... read more]sure with hot water except for 2 days when the whole resort had no hot water. The food was really good. Fresh bread, omelets, pancakes potatoes, bacon(most days) cold cuts, cheeses and fruits. (No eggs first 2 days). Chicken, pork, fish, rice, pastas, pastries and ice cream for lunch and suppers. Snack bar serves great grilled sandwiches, chicken, tuna, ham and cheese, fries and occasionally hamburgers and hot dogs. Ketchup sometimes! Lobby bar is enclosed, air conditioned and serves great drinks, juices and coffees and has a live band most nights. Cuba day was great with authentic cuban cuisine served at the beach for lunch! All in all an amazing vacation. Expect shortages... it's Cuba! Enjoy the culture, the music, the people and relax! 🌴😊🍹

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Sol Cayo Santa Maria 2023

Well....Cuba beaches are still the best....for sure. Drive was smooth to the resort....good tour guide on the way to the resort and back as well. The food was basic and very limited...breakfast was good...outside of that...the next 2 meals ...noon at the beach bar and supper was different every night due the low numbers of people at the resort. Room were nice ...basic but nice... Entertainment was nice...very limited but they always had something at the lobby bars. Hotel Villa Cuba: Cockroaches and Rude Cubans

I don't know if you have ever been to this resort but your best bet is to stay away! All carriers are selling it for a 3+ STAR but it is a 2 and that is being generous! The grounds are beautiful and that was it! The food was a 2 and I know what I'm talking about because I have been there over 30 times! This resort is overrun by RUDE so called RICH CUBANS ( as the employees tell us) they even dislike like them but they get the best of everything! I can't tell you how many we killed on the floor on our chairs and table! It was so bad that we couldn't eat there! We would take hard bread back to our room to eat .. We only had butter in the morning. No milk some days for tea or coffee . No toast! You could not take a child down there for a week because there would be not for them to eat except rice. Our bathroom in our villa the toilet ran for almost the whole 2 weeks we were there and every morning our room was soaked with water everywhere! I have pictures of the cockroaches, the toilet and other things. You need to change your rating on the and others to a 2! This place is disgusting!!!! 🤬 For what we paid I feel Air Transat should reimburse us something! I haven even told you about the Cubans and how bad it was! By the way my travel companion was sick for 4 days and couldn't get out of bed. She is still sick here at home and I betting it's due to the cockroaches and fly shit all over the food! I would appreciate any kind of email from Air Transat! By the way the Air Transat Rep was there for 2 days and when we complained to him he was the new guy . He also told us that the Cuban people have already shut down to resorts already and he thinks that Hotel Villa Cuba is next! Be Live Experience Varadero is now bankrupt so we are told .. Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Decent value for money - nothing fancy

The grounds are well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food is good but not great. Lots of fresh items to choose from. Skip the specialty restaurants. the three are all the same and the food is not tasty. The Cuban BBQ at lunch one day was very good - don't miss that. The beach was good. Lots of chairs to choose from - though many are saggy. The pools were quiet. Rooms are tired looking - the bed was a box spring and the mattress on the floor - very hard and  [... read more]uncomfortable. It gave me a sore back. the fan in the room was so loud that it made it difficult to sleep well. Value for money - it was good for a four-day break. I cannot imagine staying there any longer.

Melia Cayo Coco: Melia Cayo Coco

It had excellent staff who were very helpful and prompt at dealling withneeds and issues we needed help with. The resolt was clean indide and the prprttu out side as well. Note my etesight is poor and may not always write well. Beach was very clean and beautyfull. Pool was excellent.

Club Tropical: Amazing Resort

Excellent location! Beautiful beach! Friendly staff! I have been to Cuba 15 times and this will be the hotel I call home now! The rooms are all great and the food and drinks were the best I have had from any hotel I have stayed at in Cuba. The entertainment was fun and lively. Their Cuban Day is filled with lots of treats for adults and children. Oh and the foam party is a hit! Can’t wait to return.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Resort has gone completely downhill

We have been going to this resort since 2003 and over the last few years it has been going down hill but this time was the worst…. the Richer Cubans are given priority in Villas, especially with pools, the beer at the pool bar was watered down with soda, the buffett was completely loaded with cockroaches…our rooms were cleaned daily but the sheets were definitely stained, our toilet leaked from the tank and we reported it… nothing was done… we had to put towels on the floor around the to [... read more]ilet to not fall or slip in the water, the re was a Canadian return patrons dinner that was put on by the public relations department … the dinner was lovely but the public relations person basically sat at 1 table all evening and didn’t even ask at the end of the evening if a good time was had… she basically ignored the rest of the patrons… the ramps to the beach are being slowly replaced but are very unsafe… many of the staff have been at this resort for years and become our friends… they also see that their resort is not good but they are not able to say or do anything about it… it is a very sad situation

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Remarkable Resort!

This resort was everything we could have wanted to experience a wonderful vacation away. Very clean and well maintained. The staff are always willing to assist with a huge smile. They go above and beyond at all times. There are a number of large pools and a beautiful beach. The food exceeded our expectations. My only suggestion would be more nightly entertainment in the lobby.
