The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. The resort has great wildlife around the grounds that my kids loved seeing each morning as we walked to breakfast.
I would take my family back.

Dreams Sands Cancun Resort and Spa: Dream sands Cancun resort and spa
Staff was amazing, accommodating and very friendly. Food was good at most a la carte restaurants, buffet and lunch restaurant could be better. More variety and more local fresh produce! Flight was delayed and didn’t get to hotel until the day after we were suppose to. Rooms were clean, bed could have been more comfortable (other rooms had softer beds). Beach was FANTASTIC! Riu Latino: Riu Latino, amazing resort!!
Built in the fall of 2022 this Adult only resort was amazing. Situated North of Cancun, there was limited amounts of seaweed on the beach/water that was great. We had not been to Mexico since 2016 for that reason and had chosen Jamaica as our preferred destination since then. This was also our first RIU resort stay.
Shade is limited on the beach nearest the water. Palm trees offer some shade yet they are 50 ft. from the water behind a small dune that somewhat limits the view of the Ocean. Poo[... read more]ls offered lots of shade, never an issue playing towel games. We usually arrived around 9 ish with our group of 3 couples. Loved the mobile bars (reminded us of an ice cream carts), to keep us hydrated :-).
Pools were from quiet to partying as expected. Adult water slides....what more can I say, no line ups, well managed and a blast. Sixty eight (68) steps to the top but good for keeping trim from the great food.
Restaurants (A la Carte) in our order of preference: Steakhouse, Asian (buffet style), Kulinarium, Milan, Poolside (Buffet) & Pepe's Food (grill). No reservations taken for restaurants, we showed up at opening and no problems getting seated. Buzzers provided if full. Entertainment was good on stage as well as additional events, white party, neon party, foam parties-great entertainment crew.
Rooms was great, new and functional. Always well done by the staff and plenty of bottle water. We had room 4171 on the fourth floor that provide us view of the Ocean to our right and the mangrove on the left.
Staff here are just amazing in every ways. Great price ($$) point. Would definitely consider going again :-)
Do not be deterred by the small amounts of negative reviews on social medias, as those should just stay home!!

Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Great Moments: Wonderful resort
The hotel was recently renovated so the place sparkled. The rooms were spacious with a nice view and comfortable beds. The food at the buffet and Mediterranean cafe was delicious. There was a fun Mexican fiesta hosted at the resort one evening that included lots of food stations, entertainment, games and fireworks.

Haven Riviera Cancun: Won’t make a return trip
Food is much lower quality and variety compared to other resorts in Mexico. Actually lower level resorts have been better than this resort.
Beautiful grounds, good pools. Quiet resort.
This resort is middle of the pack for us and it was the second most pricey resort we’ve done.

TRS Yucatan: Great resort
The area is beautiful - although at least a 60 minute drive from Cancun. The resort itself is also beautiful - the employees are tremendous, couldn't be more courteous and helpful. The resort is very large & offers many options - you really should take advantage of the transportation & survey all of the 4 resorts. Really enjoyed the choice of dining options - we had a member with food allergies & this was accomodated at all food venues. Also enjoyed the atmosphere and of course, the sun.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: dissapointing
We have stayed at many many hotels in the Mayan Rivera. By far this was the most disappointing.
in a nutshell these were the reasons
Restrictive beach access for Coba guests
Large lack of chairs or loungers at pools
no room service, not an option
no poolside service for drinks
no food at all available at pools
cannot take any food out of the restaurants or buffet for consumption in room
reservations at a la carte's almost impossible and very restrictive due to electronic [... read more]system in place and lack of personal representation. I guess this needs to be done on their website weeks in advance.
restrictive and lacking mini bar
etc..... not a 5 star resort

Riu Dunamar: First Time & Last Time
Disappointed to say the least.
Lodging: We called after making our initial reservation for a family suite they said yes. Get there and no family suite. Someone forgot to write it in. Switching suites was painful and took 2 days. The suite we ended up with was ocean view and beautiful. Good Point! Room Bar had crappy liquor. We had to call to get our room restocked of drinks which was hardly enough for a family of 4. No room service with this hotel. House cleaning was great! Also walking the [... read more]hallways was kinda creepy reminded me of a hospital or something you see out of a movie on a pysch ward.
Food/restaurants: NO RESERVATIONS NEEDED! That was CRAP! The steak house you had to be there at 5 pm before they opened at 6pm in order to have a chance at the very least to getting the last seating at 8pm. Just saying leaving a generous tip helps you get in faster. Your more MEMORABLE. The buffet food was less then spectacular. Other restaurants were meh. Sports bar offered refrigerated burgers/hot dogs and sandwiches to be microwaved. Selection did not change day to day. Always seemed to be running out of sparkling wine.
The burger stand I think was the best thing for lunch fresh fries and burgers on the fly.
Beach: Beautiful. Serving staff were great. Had police patrol center and a helicopter on Saturday that came by and sat watching for a bit. Went one day as most days too windy to really enjoy the water with kids.
Pools and reserving chairs: It says not to but after the 1st 2 days. Enough was enough. Had to get up at 6 am to reserve chairs for our group. Foam party was fun. One pool was quieter then the other. Wheel chair ramp accessible was cool. Pool Swim up bars. I asked a staff member if children were allowed in and they said yes of course. We go take a far corner bench and table with aunt uncle and our 2 small children minding our own business and we start getting the whistle blown at us. No one seemed to know the rules at Dunamar. One person would say one thing the other another.
Kids Water Park: Our youngest can't go down by themselves. So i would but them on my lap and slide. I GOT THE WHISTLE BLOWN AT ME. I could agree to no tube slides but then I got it blown again at me for going down an open slide. I could only go down 1 slide out of 7 with my child.
Misconception: When booking it says you have access to all Riu resorts. We thought we'd go adventuring to the one next door.....Then it says no access to Riu Dunamar guests.....WTH!!
So frusturated. By the 3rd day and 2nd degree sunburn we were ready to go home. My husbands aunt and uncle kept apologizing to us as this was a poor excuse for a riu as they have been to several.
Night Entertainment: Couldn't really Comment about this that much other than if you were facing the inside court yard where the entertainment was it echoed into your room like no tomorrow. We were on a corner suite and it really echoed.

Canto Del Sol: Great value for hotel
We had a great time at this hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nobody looked unhappy.
Beds were very, very hard but they have foam layers that they can put on top of your bed. I had 3 layers on mine and it was much better. Rooms were clean.
Food was tasty. Only managed to get to one a la carte - Mexican….it was excellent. Food and service. Please tip these waiters.
Kids club was the only downside. Not many activities and parents were expected to hang around. Any kids[... read more] club I have gone to at other resorts have always taken the child for a few hours. Not the case here. Was surprised to find a kids pool on my second day. Hotel did not provide map of resort so I was not aware that there are 3 buildings for the resort.
Hotel is about a 20-25 min walk to downtown or pay 10 pesos for the bus. Very easy to take.
Puerto Vallarta is one of my favourite interactive vacations. It’s very safe
Enjoy.

Riu Vallarta: Review of Riu Vallarta
This hotel was very nice. The lobby was beautiful and the grounds very fabulous. My room was very nicely decorated and very roomy. The food was terrific. The buffet had a lot of variety and had dishes that could be enjoyed by all. The other restaurants were also very good, particularly the Italian cuisine.
The proximity to the ocean was really a plus and the beach was beautiful.
The staff went over and above to make all our party comfortable and happy.

All in all I was very impressed with the whole experience and would recommend it to anyone.

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Viva Azteca
Viva Azteca is a nice small resort. The staff was great rooms were decent, great beach and close to shops. The only down fall is the food. I have been on many all inclusive resorts and am not a picky eater. The food was horrible and I would say close to half the guests were sick due to the food. Not many options and there was definatly something wrong. Luckily there is a drug store down the street where you can get immodium so it didnt ruin my vacation! Haven Riviera Cancun: Absolutely love this resort!
Finally getting a chance to review the resort...in a nutshell, we loved it and are already planning a return for November through our TA.
We booked through tripcentral.ca and we always use Wendy VanZandwyk. She has been to many resorts but had not visited Haven, going only on reviews she had received. Having been Secrets regulars, and both we went to had closed, we were willing to give it a try.
Travelled April 3rd-12th, as coming from Canada, you usually lose 1 day on each end for travel, s[... read more]o we had 7 full days. Close to airport, which is essential for me. Construction is happening right now so it took a bit longer on the Monday morning to get to the resort but coming back, it took no time at all. Through our TA, we had all the transfers taken care of so a simple walk out the sliding doors, past everyone and found the Air Transat rep to be directed to our driver.
We did Serenity Club (SC) and had our own check in area right inside the door where we were greeted with beverages and snacks, and where we met our amazing butler Carlos! (I can only comment on SC options so sorry to non SC vacationers if I don't answer your questions) Our room wasn't ready so we changed into appropriate clothing and headed to the SC Lounge for a beverage and sandwich while we waited. Carlos made things happen and we were in our room within an hour.
We were in building 7, 1 of the 2 newer buildings that just opened in November 2022. Had requested a King but had 2 Queen, which was fine. We had a swim out that faced the beach, Jacuzzi Pool and Tahini. Room was very nice, spacious and clean. No Bluetooth Speaker in bathroom as others have commented on; maybe they didn't include in the new expansion? There is construction right behind building 7, not a problem at all! Safe inside the closet, lots of storage space, loved that the door didn't have a crack under it so geckos and spiders couldn't crawl under!! Butler box is amazing for dirty dishes, getting room service and passing on items as you're leaving to other guests.
Ate lunch at buffet, was quite good and lots of choices. Slept rest of day as we had been up for 36 hours and ordered room service and it was very good too! I ordered the mushroom quesadilla and asked for chicken to be added. Brought drinks from SC Lounge.
SC Pool is amazing! Loungers with umbrellas, loungers in shallow water on a shelf in the pool, cabanas which are free! Proximity to the beach where they have loungers, umbrellas and thatched cabanas as well. Servers will bring you drinks here too, as well as to your swim up at your room. If you're a beach person, you will be greatly disappointed with the amount of sargassum that is on the shore, and in the water. Each day there is a tractor that goes up and down the beach but honestly, I didn't really see any big difference when they did this.
Pool swim up bar is amazing but be wary of the 2 steps leading from the bar heading into the pool! Bring floaties! They don't provide like other resorts do but we were left 2 from someone leaving and we left them for others to enjoy. Water is warm! Pool is heated and as mentioned, there is also a smaller pool with jets on the 2 edges, also loungers and umbrellas. All loungers have towels on them, if there are personal items, they are taken, if not, yours to grab. Antonio took amazing care of us each and every day, and will do anything you need, from cleaning your glasses, to inflating your floaties and anything else. Tip your pool concierge!
Food was generally good, some better than others. Anyone looking for Michelin quality meals will not thoroughly enjoy the restaurants here but we found that the majority of the choices we made were good, and we consider ourselves to be junior foodies. It's all in what you choose and what you enjoy. We enjoyed Satsu (a la carte), Tahini and Olios the best and maybe just choose the wrong items at Vora Mar and Agua Bendita as we weren't happy after those meals. The Hibachi was fun to do 1 night! My husband went for breakfast everyday at the buffet and sat with Cesar (we did Vistas the 1st morning but he loved the omelette station at the buffet) as I'm not a breakfast person. Lunch we tried the BBQ at Vora Mar for tacos and we did Mistral twice. Most days, we grabbed sandwiches and fresh fruit from SC Lounge.
To order room service alcohol cost money....when we arrived, we were offered 2 bottles of alcohol for our room. As we're not hard alcohol drinkers, we declined and when I said I was a wine drinker, my wonderful butler Carlos made sure that a bottle was delivered to my room when I needed one. Also, I'd stop into SC Lounge and fill a glass with wine or champagne and take it back to my room, or Grand Marnier from Limes as a night cap.
Staff was outstanding.....from our butler Carlos to Pool Concierge Antonio to Eli, Angie, Angel, Antonio, Josue at the SC Pool and Cesar at Flavours for taking such great care of my husband each morning. A huge difference in the service that we received at the Sandals in Barbados. All the staff in the restaurants were friendly and very accommodating to requests.
A couple of tips......
* Ask your butler if they have PayPal It saves you some extra cash for tipping and pays in pesos, most butlers have them.
*Start your day off at the pool by tipping the staff a lump sum and if you feel you had more drinks, tip again after lunch. Saves you carrying cash into the pool.
*If you don't like any of the contents of the mini bar, take it out and let your butler know. Gives you room for treats you want to bring to the room and you can stock up on what you do like.
*Do the free hydrotherapy circuit and spend the additional $19USD!! The different rooms are interesting although we hated the cold plunge!!
*Tip well, all of the staff work so hard to make your vacation relaxing and enjoyable and they take pride on getting to know you and your preferences. As Canadians, we took celery salt with us and had traditional Caesars poolside every morning, with properly rimmed glasses!
*Someone wrote on here that if you're not coming from the US and need to convert money, pesos are best as they staff loses money in the conversion process from USD to pesos...good to know as we have always brought USD.
*Be sure to bring your own sunscreen, lip balm, after sun lotion etc as it is very expensive at the gift store!! Also pay attention to the dress codes....Olios and Tahini in particular if you're SC. We saw some people turned away but also some let in with less than required dress code.
Bottom line, we loved this resort and will go back without hesitation. I found the SC upgrade was worth it for the butler, who can really make things happen, the extra restaurant options, the SC Lounge and exclusive pool areas, complete with very clean bathrooms. We like relaxed, quiet and chill and that was definitely the vibe at the SC Pool. There was music playing but it wasn't thumping loud and very appropriate. Long pool has all the party feels and a DJ a few times throughout the week if that's what you're looking for! He and I didn't try any of the other pools, although the round pool also looked quite nice. We did not use our swim out at all, due to the proximity of our room (7005) to the SC Pool so next time we will book a higher level room, with an outdoor tub! My husband has bad knees so he can't do a lot of stairs and in our past experience, places that say they have elevators, always seem to have issues with them when we're there! Not here which expands our options.
I would give this resort 4.5 stars, as there is always room for improvement wherever you go! Looking forward to heading back and meeting lots more great people and hoping Dawn and Janelle can meet up with us again, maybe with their husbands!!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great value!
Our family of 4 including 2 teens were here for a week in April 2023.
Great value at this resort. Staff were friendly and resort had everything we needed.
Rooms were tired but clean. We were in building 6 which was near the smaller pool. We liked being close to the main buffet/gym/lobby as other reviews state - this is a big resort with lots of walking!
Food was great with lots of options, including gluten free. We did note the lines for the main buffet got crazy busy around 8pm. A la c[... read more]arte restaurants were excellent and had no problem getting reservations.
Pools were nice - we spent more time at the quieter small pool. Beach was decent and good for lounging, seaweed was only bad for a day or two. It’s worth the 10min walk to the lagoon.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Family friendly resort
This is a great place to take the entire family. The buffet has so much variety and seems to be open most of the time. The fuel cafe is not be missed.
I will say there were no Covid 19 protocols and no masking at all anywhere on the premises.
The reservation and eating at the specialty restaurants was extremely stressful and really is a downfall considering all the other great things on the resort.
Entertainment was excellent and really fun.

Riu Flamingos: Mixed reviews
It's a beautiful resort. However they need to spend more time picking up garbage not only on the beach part of the resort but also around the resort. People leaving empty cups, garbage and cigarette butts everywhere. The public washrooms in the hotel are disgusting. Most of the toilets don't even flush. Also it's a very loud resort lots of families and kids. There is not a designated adult pool so we found it hard to find any swimming room in any of the
2 pools. I would say this is more a fami[... read more]ly resort. The food was okay. Hit and miss everyday. All their drinks are made with that sugary syrup mix. Hard to even drink after a couple of days. They only serve instant decaf coffee which is terrible. The rooms are okay but the cleaning products they use are extremely strong scented. Really the only positive for us was the staff they work really hard and are very friendly. I think a lot of them are overworked. It's such a busy resort it seems like it's almost unmanageable for the staff.
