Barcelo Solymar: Fantastic

First time travelling alone. What a beautiful resort, and even more so the people from front desk to maids to bartenders and servers. Everyone was so accommodating. Clean room with a nice pool view. The beach was obviously gorgeous. Food was ok ( I’m not a picky eater) so I always found something I liked All and all amazing trip, walking distance to market and downtown. Will be back in August!!!

Muthu Playa Varadero: Amazing Resort - Even better than the pictures!

Very good resort, clean, big resort but still has that cozy feel. Beach and pool were very nice and very well kept. Lots of good activities. I've been to Cuba 9 times and this place definitely has the best food! Also very wheelchair accessible (ramps, elevators, etc.). Front desk staff were very helpful and the rest of the staff are very nice. We were originally given a ground-level room and we changed it to one a few stories up and it was much nicer so if there is extra room I recommend asking  [... read more]for a room that isn't on the ground level. Overall a very nice resort and nice and close to the town of Varadero (there is a bus to take which is very easy) and a short drive from the airport which is also nice.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Could be better, could be worse!

The rooms are a little outdated (comforter and curtains) and our first room 18110 was terrible (dirty, patio didn't lock, ac wouldn't turn off, no hand towels, broken fridge, bathroom door wouldn't latch, broken safe etc..) The pools are nice. The beach is gorgeous. The food needs to be better labelled and more variety. No hot water twice, no water once and no hydro once. We still had a great time. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: A GREAT GETAWAY!

There were many parts of the hotel that were outstanding - the staff, drinks on the beach, great room with a view of the ocean, piano bar, room service meals, the Sakura restaurant and the racquet coffee bar. A few hiccups at the resort were the Rock House restaurant - one of the worst meals we ever experienced at a resort. Our other disappointment was not having any hot water for 4 days in our room. We would come back to the resort for sure, with hopes they can fix the hot water!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Excellent resort!

The grounds are beautiful and very clean. The hotel staff are friendly and always willing to lend a hand and help out. The room was spacious, clean and the air conditioning worked very well. The piano bar was a big hit with our group of four! We sang along to tunes from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s two nights during the week. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not very happy.

The beach is stunning. The main lobby and terrace was always smokey. Our room's air conditioning was not working. We complained for 5 days before they offered to move us to another room. The only problem was they were not willing to move my children who were in an adjoining room. They did mange to fix the air conditioner on day 5. The food was absolutely disgusting. Nothing was labled properly. We would ask differnt staff what something was and get different answers each time. We were only [... read more] allowed to visit 3 out of the 5 ala cartes, that was their policy. At check out, when asked to do a customer survey, I wrote down my concerns and handed it back, right in front of me, the receptionist changed all my dissatisfactions to very excellents. I told her to stop and she just said sorry and smiled. This was not a cheap vacation and I was extremely disappointed.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Iberostar Review

Beautiful beach and pools, close to the downtown. Snorkelling at the beach was excellent. Food was okay (a la carte was similar to buffet meals). Drinks and bartending service was wonderful. Had a great time overall! Not a lot of options for vegetarians. Would like a running/biking trail close by - adventuring off the resort had to be done by cab/bus.

Starfish Jibacoa: Beautiful Resort

This was my first time every to go away. Was disappointed at the location of my room. It faced the mountain. Would have liked to been able to see the grounds and Ocean. Was too spaced out from Lobby ,Buffett, Ocean and pool. There was no night life at the pool where the bar is. We were a group of 6 and we were to spread out. Rooms not close to each other. Enjoyed the snorkelling. To many locals at the pool.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not the 4 Star it once was

As a seasoned traveller and former travel agent, I went to Cuba with lowered expectations about the accommodations and food. The resort location and grounds are great and of course Varadero Beach is spectacular. The set up of the room and the condition of it was disappointing. For example: they supplied a coffee maker in the room but no coffee, and they did not sell the coffee for it on the resort. They left instant decaf packets that you could use if you boiled the kettle, but the plug in was w [... read more]ay across the room from the table all was sitting on. The drying rack on the balcony was not attached to the wall and came down the 1st day, and the handle to the sliding door into the bathroom broke on the 3rd day. We were in a junior suite and it seemed as though the hotel wanted to portray that they offered everything, but these amenities were clearly just “for show”. Beds were very uncomfortable. Not sure if this is common to other properties in Varadero, but I fear that if they don’t address the repairs and upgrades of the resorts on the island, they may lose market share to the Dominican Republic and other tropical destinations. On the food, we were cutting them lots of slack as we thought the shortages of food and lack of fruit was due to the hurricane last year, but after talking with many other travellers (some from 3 star resorts) they did not share this experience at all. It was puzzling. I would only recommend to someone, if at a discounted rate and disclosing the likely condition of the rooms.

Hotel Bella Costa: We love the staff here.

We were in the bungalo,s.Need a lot of repairs.Really nothing donne to them in all the years we have been going there.Patio doors in need of fixing,enamel peeling from bottom of tub,shower head bad shape.Owners are beginning to remodel hotel 5th floor is beautiful.So someday and a lot of work it will be really nice.We would still go back.Clean beds and the workers are very compassionate.They do their best with what they have to work with.

Hotel Bella Costa: Feels Like Home!

We felt like we were visiting family and they were doing everything they could to host us! Staff was always welcoming and polite. We loved the entertainment, the service and the food was fantastic! Can't wait to go back, will make it our "go to place!"

Hotel Acuazul: Great hotel.

I had a great time. The staff were very friendly and accomadating. The rooms were clean. Entertainment was awesome. Great place to stay. The only thing was that I didn’t have hot water but I know that this is quite common in Cuba. No complaints.

Paradisus Varadero: Disappointing

Rooms were not well kept. No rooms have 4 beds so families of 4 have to pair up. Most rooms had two twin beds and a pull out sofa that sits on the floor. Our family of 4 was given three single beds. We moved rooms after the first night and that room had no hot water for three days. Mini bar was not filled daily and when room service was called, nothing was brought for three days straight. Service was very slow, and took at least 15 minutes to get a drink at any bar. No times available for restau [... read more]rants and they turned off the hand dryers in the bathrooms, so they could hand you paper towels for tips at night in the main lobby. The whole resort was way understaffed. Been to Cuba many times and this was very disappointing. Melia needs to invest some money back into this resort badly

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Loved this resort

It had a stunning beach and both busy and quiet pools. A la Carte restaurants were great - we went to Italian, Cuban and Japanese. Buffet had many choices and there were two other quiet restaurants. If you want a party atmosphere you can have it or if you prefer quiet and relaxing, that’s available too.

Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful resort

Melia Marina Varadero, is such a beautiful resort. The beach is absolutley stunning and goes on for miles. The staff are very friendly, the hotel rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is lot's of activities to choose from, and always a stunning view from anywhere on the resort Marina side or beach side. I definatley would recommend the catamaran to Cayo Blanco!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Fantastic resort

This was my first time ever being to Cuba but Kens second time. I found that the resort (Starfish Cuatro Palmas) was a beautiful spot to stay at. The room we had was overlooking the street. The staff members were all very friendly, helpful and understanding where I could not speak the language too well. The bar, beach, swimming pool and the dining areas were right there at our disposal. Playa Vista Azul: Nice resort

The resort was nice , clean , friendly . The views were amazing the room was awesome . We couldn't get on one beach it was to small and to many people but the other beach was terrific . The bars were awesome the bartenders were awesome and terrific with the kids at the resort . The buffet was horribly busy all the time the servers were running off their feet and very hard to get drinks at your table. Not enough loungers or shade at the pools . Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: it was a fun time

It was what we expected by reading the reviews...we went there with an opened mind...the beach was amazing...it needs a lot of work on simple thing...food was good...the staff was good...the location was great

Melia Varadero: Great beach, Nice Resort

The hotel is nice. The ‘level’ rooms on 5th floor are updated and clean. There is a great lounge on the level too with 24 hr drinks and food at meal times. The pools are decent- no swim up bar. The beach is gorgeous but not accessible unless you can handle stairs. Buffet and al a cartes are very basic and repetitive daily. Buffet seating needs to be cleared more often. Decent wine needs to be purchased. Wifi even when purchased additionally on the level, is spotty& drops frequently . Overall-I would not recommend this hotel because of the wifi and food issues.

Be Live Turquesa: Cozy & Comfortable

This was our second time at this resort and It was as great the second time. The room was spacious, clean and secure. With a resort this small, it was a quick walk to the beach, pool or restaurants. The staff are all extremely friendly and willing to go the extra mile. If you are looking for a quiet place with a beautiful beach and nice pool to relax at, this is the place for you.
