Sunscape Puerto Plata: 2014 Holiday In The Sun

We had a room near the beach and loved the easy access. Great sand and beach area. Lots of shade available when needed. The pools were great as one worked for the younger crowd and we enjoyed the quieter pool up by the main entrance. Lots of chairs available and pool was great. The food was plentiful and we enjoyed most meals. Weather was great and staff very accomodating. We would recomment this hotel as the price was right and we weren't dissapointed with the trip at all.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: stupendous resort

the whole experience was very worth while. I brought my son on his first ever trip to an all inclusive resort.. at the `òld age`of 50. he was like a kid in a candy store. I am a very experienced traveller and I was very impressed by the service, the gourmet class food served by an experienced and helpful staff who looked after all of our needs, the rooms were first class , being on the beach , was a pleasant surprise. thanks to all.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: perfect again!!!

the short version: Third time there, food was awesome the staff was polite and efficient, the entertainment was fantastic, the grounds and beach were clean and well maintained, and the drinks were not watered down. I will be going again and again.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: great place to stay

i have bee going to the RIU Bachata for 2 years now and i would not stay any where else.The place is great right from the food to the hotel staff. they are all very friendly. the pool is great with 2 pools,its very clean. the beds are comfortable. i would recommend the RIU Bachata to anyone.

Riu Merengue: Loved this resort

Loved everything about this resort, food was great, staff amazing beaches. The only thing that was not up to my liking was the beds and pillows. That would be my only complaint. Loved how close everything was .

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Very comfortable resort on wide safe beach.

Beautiful grounds and very comfortable accommodations in well equipped rooms. Great central pool and very good choice of restaurants. Buffets featured excellent food variety. Staff and service was outstanding.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great resort!

Great resort, great food, amazing parties! Perfect for students. I wouldn't recommend it for a family as it seems to be more catered towards a young crowd. I really enjoyed my stay at Bahia Principe and would definitely come back.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great time!

The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The washrooms could use some work. The toilets often flooded and the showers were always backed up. The maids were really great though and I still had a wonderful time.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Very nice resort

Thought the hotel was very clean. Grounds were extremely well kept. Food was very good, lots of different variety's to choose from. Rooms were clean. Entertainment staff were excellent. Outside bar area, would have been better with stools around it, so as to interact better with people. The swim up bar, certainly wasn't the best I have been to, so definitely room for improvement. The location and size of the property was perfect.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful getaway

We visited in february of 2014 for an adults only week of fun in the sun. The grounds are striking, and this is obvious on arrival. Staff are constantly tending to public areas, but are inconspicuous and always pleasant. Our room was a little disappointing. It had a damp, musty, closed up smell, and although it was clean, it also faced the loading doc of the neighbouring resort where trucks come and go constantly, so there is a good deal of not so good noise. Since we are Canadian, and extra pol [... read more]ite to boot, we were inclined to stick it out, but decided, ultimately, that since we were here to have the best possible vacation, we would ask-just to see. Front desc staff were wonderful and invited us to come back on Sunday (we arrived thursday) to make a switch. We spent the last half looking at the ocean through palm trees-so sometimes it pays to ask! The food was wonderful, and plentiful. We ate at all a la cartes on site, and all were good, but none a standout. The buffet was excellent, and quite varied, and there was often something extra going on, so we would happily have eaten there every night. The lobby bar was a lovely place to relax at night, and to dance to the band if the mood strikes. On site stores were handy for picking up last minute souvenirs, but a walk down the beach also takes you to multiple markets where all manner of dominican craft can be purchased. Again, being canadian, and thus allergic to bargaining, we probably got taken for a ride, but whatever. Our favourite excursion by far was to the falls. We wish it had been longer! We also visited the teleferico which, if i remember rightly, was attached to a tour of the city, making for a bit of a long, but overall enjoyable day. Except for the fact that we generally try not to retrace our steps, we would gladly go back to the iberostar. We had just the unwinding time we were after, and came home rested, tanned, and happy for the experience.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Awesome countryside resort

Beautiful grounds, enjoyed visiting sister hotels all within walking distance. Beach was great and from what I understand has improved over the last few years. Beautiful caramel colored sand and no water shoes were needed unless you wanted to play in the coral at the far left hand side of the resort or walk chest deep into the water. We were 4 girls, all of which have travelled to Mexico, Jamaica, Punta Cana and Cuba. For the amount we paid which was under 1200 CDn (peak season), we were very im [... read more]pressed and would do it again. As for the 3 restaurants available, we enjoyed the steakhouse the best. Our steaks were tender and definitely tasted like steak. As for the buffet in the maiming dining room, it offered great outdoor dining with a fabulous view of the ocean and gardens. The food was Average for a 4.5 to 5 star resort but it had everything from roast beef to pizza. My only recommendations are: improve lighting in Italian restaurant, add more seafood to the menus and improve music played at the dance club. Both nights we visited, there were only a handful of people. Fortunately the bar located outside the lobby was fun, great staff and plenty of friendly repeat customers. My apologies for the long winded review. If you are considering this property, just call Trip Central and book it!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Spring break fun!

We had an amazing time at Gran bahia back in February 2014. There were 4 of us traveling for spring break. The rooms were clean, enough space, nice size balcony. The food was awesome! We could all find something we wanted every meal. Beach was fantastic and pools were clean and large.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Enjoyable,friendly, we'll keep resort

We had a room just off the pool area and stage. This was very convinent. The stage shows a little loud if you wanted to go to bed,But they did shut down at 11:00 so tolerable. Grounds we'll keep and attractive. A big beach area and the shade and trees was great! The buffet itself seemed a little crowded but always enough to eat. Staff in buffet and a la carte friendly and helpful, working hard. Overall, would return if the price is right.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Worth every dollar spent

This was my second time at this resort . And it was fantastic . The staff were more than happy to assist at any time . The entertainment was great . They brought in a jazz band from the USA abd they were fantastic. I will be returning again in March this time for longer . Ladies I am a single woman who went on her own and felt safe there. If there was one thing they could improve on it would be the reservations for dinner you wait in a line up . Should be a little easier .

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Terrific Resort!!

Fantastic room, great food, beautiful clean beach with lot's of shade trees and an amazing beach bar!! Only downside was the entire outside of the building leading to rooms is ceramic tile that is extremely slippery when wet, which is more often than not....

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Sum of all words: AMAZING

What a memorable vacation! Wonderful hotel and I had the time of my life here, it was a great experience for me. I had so much happiness in experiencing the DR for the first time and it was an amazing experience for me, I think that my consequent vacations will be in DR and most likely this hotel because I just loved it. I had so much fun and the hotel made sure that my stay was not regrettable. The gardens were beautiful and you could see that they were very well maintained as well. My room had the garden view which is beautiful and it was also very spacious, it was well cleaned and everything was in place, all equipment and amenities worked perfectly. I loved all the restaurants in the building, all the foods I ate there were nice and varieties were available even for the pickiest eater. There are lots of activities especially during the day if you are interested in being part of any of them. The animation team worked hard to make sure that the guests were entertained as well as putting up new different shows every night and that was a nice effort. The beach is fabulous and the staff here make your stay worthwhile because they are really lovely people.

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) the hotel location of Riu bachata is the best of the 3 Riu hotels in the Riu compound. the beach and the pools were wonderful. but I cant say the same for the food. It was not horrible but it was not good either. However, the two resturants that you can go by reservation for dinners were good. although the menu was the same at both resturants for the whole week we were there. one served chicken [... read more] and the other salmon as their main dish.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: We loved this resort, stayed for 2 weeks

We stayed for 2 weeks and could have stayed longer, food was good, staff really friendly and accommodations were good. This resort is on the cusp of GREAT, renovations are scheduled and upgrades in the works. I am very anxious to go back and see what they have done, it was already an amazing resort.

The hotel is beautiful - just the right size. This was my third stay here - and it keeps getting better. The food was very good- so many awesome choices. Grounds and rooms clean, beautiful gardens and flowers. Lovely pool. Beach nice - a lovely walk every day. The best is the staff - the bartenders and animation staff were always so happy and friendly. This is about my 15th trip to the islands - and hotels are pretty much the same - but this hotel staff is tops. I like service with a smile and y [... read more]ou get it here. I am sure people will always find something to complain about - but relax and enjoy your time in paradise with friends and family. I was there with my 3 daughters celebrating my 60th birthday and we had a blast.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Very nice resort

The hotel was just the right size not overly big and not too small,the room was spacious and close to the pool just where we wanted not to impressed with the view out the sliding doors we faced the neighboring resort. The food was good the people were friendly and the service was excellent. We did not venture off the resort because we just like to relax around the pool and drink and eat good food. There was food offered at all times.
