Riu Guanacaste: A Middling Experience
This is a huge resort - 1,300 rooms. The grounds are beautiful, but we felt there were not enough pools. The beach is rocky. In February, the surrounding area is rather bleak. The food was very good..
Riu Palace Mexico: Enjoyable holiday
Pool water (too) cold; WIFI at pool (and at times elsewhere) usually not available. Other members of party were taken 2-hours out of their way because driver went to wrong hotel, but these are relatively minor inconveniences to a nice vacation.
Riu Santa Fe: beautiful property-unswimable water
Hotel quite nice-food o.k. for all inclusive-undertoe 3 feet off shore. Property quite flat with ramp to beach, suitable for the disabled. Distance a little far for disabled to beach Hotel does offer w.c service to & from. Pools & grounds beautiful as well as spotless. Furthest hotel from town in hotel zone. Watch out for expensive (cheating) cabbies. There are set rates-Make sure what you're paying before you get in.
Riu Merengue: RIU Merengue
Nice small report, grounds were well kept, nice beach. Food was okay, ice cream tasted like it had cough syrup in it though, but other than that the food was decent. Pool area fills up quick in the morning, the WIFI is limited and signal isn't strong.
Sol Turquesa Beach: Fantastic Resort
Beautiful setting, pools and beach...great friendly service. The entertainment team was amazing! Snack bar makes great wings and pizzas and has friendly bar tenders who like to joke & chat with you. The cappuccino bar in the main lobby is not to be missed if your a coffee lover.
Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice resort but needs some maintenance
Resort is nicely laid out. Staff are excellent. Beach is beautiful. Lots of sun/shade/lounge chairs. Buffet was good (not much fruit but other than that kinda what you would expect). Alacartes were good. Italian, Seafood were the best. Plumbing issues need to be addressed. And for whatever reason...toilet seat are hard to come by in the public washrooms (both on and off the resort). 400 and 500 are the place to be.
Grand Memories Varadero: Believe the reviews-strange stuff even for Cuba
I have found that in the past most negative reviews were unfounded, but everything I read before I went was true. Key cards didn't work, dirty towels, coffee maker but no coffee and no light working in bathroom (we told the front desk but nothing was done all week. My husband was at the pool and entered a contest-I was in the room (on the third day) and received a phone call saying it was the front desk checking if everything was OK. My husband had given our room number to the staff to enter the [... read more]
Sol Turquesa Beach: Not bad resort
Beds were like sleeping on the floor ( hard as a rock). Out of 7 days we only had hot water for 2.Up graded to Diamond after 3 days to get better beds which were not better. Lots of walking to get to pools and Buffet and bars. Is under staffed at bars .( wait 10 to 15 min for drink)
Grand Memories Varadero: The staff was very friendly
The hotel was very nice , we stayed across from the quite pool and I like it because in the evening it was very close to the buffet and music and shows . The rooms need upgrade and the washrooms in the lobby in very bad shape
Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Riu Bachata
this should be rated as a 3 star hotel. It is completely lacking in customer service. Room, no coffee machine, mini-bar gets replenished 'if and when' they feel like it,shower head does not hold upright and handicapped bar restricts access making it about 20" wide.Need ice, no machines available, you have to go to main bar!!! Beach, no service on the beach, most chairs are bottomed out,no lifeguard Pool, no service by the pool,no lifeguard or service the whole complex runs on 7 to 10 people duri [... read more]
Riu Palace Costa Rica: Excellent resort all around.
Staff excellent. Over the top decor for Valentines day . Lovely. Always clean and food plentiful with great variety. Shows were entertaining with lots of variety. Never a grumpy staff member. Like family.
Riu Merengue: Nice family vacation spot
Dining - not bad. Buffets were repetitive, but good. Tables could be cleaner! Wish there was an outdoor terrace for dining. Beach - not white sand, but nice. Ocean conditions are choppy. Lots of red flag days. Great for bobbing around. Pools - nice on Merengue side, little crazy on Bachata side Rooms - some great, some not so much. We asked for a room change and were given a beautiful room with balcony. Rooms are on the smaller side, but nice. All in all good resort for the price. Good for child [... read more]
Riu Palace Jamaica: Amazing Vacation-staff top notch
We just returned from this resort Feb 18, 2016. We went with a group of six friends. We can't say enough about the friendly staff, superclean resort; and tasty food! Raquel and Nadie (aka Na-Na) were terrific along with all the other staff. The general manager was always around to address any issues but we could not find one!! Other reviews mentioned the noise of the construction but we could hardly hear it. Don't let that change your mind about going to this resort, it is fabulous!! We travel f [... read more]
Riu Palace Tropical Bay: great place
We were at the Riu Palace first week of Feb. All staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was ready upon arrival and clean. On the first day the shower pressure was low but it was repaired by the second day. Buffet offered great variety and good quality food. A la carte dinners,we tried 4, were good but not excellent. Wine on the resort was very good in comparison with other resorts. A big + for us. Beach is clean and no problem to get a chair. Overall a good choice.
Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Good resort
Beautiful rooms and hotel grounds. Pool area a bit small but who really stays by the pool anyway?! The beach was full of seaweed but I think that was due to weather. Beach service for drinks was fantastic! Friendly, helpful staff! Easy to navigate off resort!
Sol Turquesa Beach: Lovely and so comfortable.
Staff were fantastic. Grounds beautiful and clean. Rooms comfy and clean. Buffet Food so so but some restaurant food pretty good. Excellent cocktails and all sorts of options. I will plan to go again next year!
Sol Turquesa Beach: A disaster of a resort!
The room needed a good cleaning, mould and dirty grout. Curtain panels missing. Beds should be replaced...everyone says how old and uncomfortable they are. The food was beyond terrible. Sunwing should up their food budget! Some of it is unrecognizable as food. Teach the cooks a few simple recipes with the food they have to work with (scalloped potatoes, garlic roasted potatoes, chicken cacciatore, macaroni and meat sauce with some spices etc...)Serve coffee at the table! We pay for the service. Th [... read more]
Riu Ocho Rios: Fantastic time!
We very much enjoyed our trip to Jamaica and RIU Ocho Rios. The food was fantastic, the entertainment amazing!!! Always something going on to do or watch. I had the most fun I have ever had at any resort dancing and singing along with the shows. The resort is big enough to go to a different restaurant daily but small enough you don't need a train to take you everywhere. The pools were great the beach amazing! There were always enough chairs as long as you were smart and got out early. The drinks [... read more]
Palace St. Martin: very good place
stayed in a suite the room was very nice could not ask for better. the food and service were very satisfying. The resort is very secluded. the beach is small but clean. i would go back again . I rate this resort a four and a half star
Riu Ocho Rios: Second time we have been there so....excellent
pool and beach excellent service from staff in all areas excellent. The area not very good was the evening entertainment Although the staff tried very hard it was below par. The only exceptions were the times they had live reggae bands
