Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Beautiful Beach!

The hotel was beautiful and service impeccable. The beach was the best I have been to in Mexico. The food was not the best I have had but was OK. All in all a great vacation but would love to have had a better experience with the dining. Portofino restaurant was the best option for a la carte.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Amazing resort

Beautiful beach, clean surroundings, excellent restaurants and high quality food. Friendly staffs everywhere, specially In buffet they are almost raining between tables to take away used dishes. Entertaining every night every where so gusts never felt boring.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Huge and wonderful resort!

Hotel staff were great! Very spacious and clean rooms. Grounds very well groomed. Shows were wonderful! Food was exceptional, especially the Capri Italian al la carte. If your going, you need to take the Mayan Ruins excursion aswell as the Rio Secerto. Both well worth going on.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Vacation in paradise

The Hotels settings were breath taking. It was a like a little village nestled in the jungle. Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful place. The staff were friendly and inviting and went out of there way to make you feel welcome.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Worst Resort Ever

We were denied rooms together and our rooms were separated from two different floors. Foggy gray water spilled from our shower and our toilet was clogged for a whole night. We were not assisted even though we called numerous times! Last day we missed our bus because our room phone wasn't working. My husband had to run all the way to the reception centre to even tell the bell boy to get our luggage. Some of the food was terrible, some restaurants were 5 star while others were 1. Lastly, there were so many mosquitos that it was natural to be bit 5 times a lday. Ocean Riviera Paradise: Good resort

Good food. .no reservations required except at the Japanese. The breakfast and lunch buffet are really good. Extremely clean resort. The people selling excursions etc on the beach are very annoying. We were asked every few minutes to buy something...massage, excursion, souvenir etc. The massage people are the worst. Great entertainment..lots to do all day and evening.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda

A little background first. We are a family of four, with a 5 year old and a 3 year old. We have been to 3 All Inclusives before, two in Riviera Maya & one in Punta Cana. We stayed at Blue Bay for 7 nights, 8 days. THE ROOM We were put in block 6, 4th floor (top floor) Garden View. On Sunday(arrival day) the shower drain was clogged and the water wouldn't drain so we went up to the lobby to get maintence to fix it. They sent someone to plunge the drain, problem solved. On Monday, th [... read more]eir was a downpour, which started leaking from the ceiling into our room onto the headboard/pillows/mattress. When we reported it, they informed us we could not stay in the room and would have to be moved. So we were moved down to the second floor. Whole process took about an hour. On Tuesday, we headed back to our room around 9pm at night with our kids who were tired and hot, only to discover neither of our room keys would open the door. My husband had to go down to the conciege desk to call up to the lobby to report the issue, who sent a bellboy with new keys, but that didn't work so we had to wait for the security guard to show up and let us in. This took about 20 mins. Asked for 30 mins to get our kids ready for bed before they come back to fix the door issue. When all was said and done, the door issue took about 1hr 5mins. On Wednesday they came to fix our mini fridge as it wasn't cold which we had mentioned on Tuesday night during the whole door issue. After this their were no issues with our room. I will mention though that both rooms had, were defintely in need of a update. Housekeeping was great though and I did actually see them moving furniture around to clean behind and under the big items. Knowing the room was at least clean, we were able to handle the dated items. THE BEACH No seaweed but you do have to walk through a thick line of broken shells before the soft sand. As well, the shells are there when first entering the water too. Nothing the resort could do about this though, that's just nature. If you bring water shoes, you should be fine. The kids loved looking for different shells :) We met a travel agent while walking on the beach who told us Blue Bay usually has the nicest beach around but there has been alot of erosion lately which shows. We ended up spending most of our time at the main pool. THE POOL Being the off season, half of the main pool by the beach was closed for renovations, not a huge deal as their were plenty of chairs around the pool that was open. The part that was open was very nice and had shallow areas for the kids to be able to stand up and splash around. THE SPA My husband had a pedicure and I had a chocolate wrap. Unfortunetly, I didn't get too far into the spa to look around as my service was being done in another building. Turns out, it was just a random room in my own building block #6 (closest block to the spa) set up with music & 2 massage beds. My husband & I love doing hydrotherpay circuts & we got an email about 3 weeks before travel saying the Spa was under renovations so we couldn't partake in that particular activity. So not sure if the wrap was done in a regular room because of renovations or if that is the actual regular spot. So that was pretty disappointing. The wrap itself was nice, though not convinced it was worth $90USD. My husband says the pedicure was "good" lol. THE FOOD Typical fare at All Inclusives. The dinner buffet is themed differently each night, Italian, Oriental, Mexican etc. Tried 3 a La cartes. The Steakhouse, The French & the Oriental. The Steakhouse When we booked this restaurant we were shown on the map where it was, at the restaurant down by the beach. Get down there and nope, "not here, don't know where" was the response we received from one guy, the only unfriendly/unhelpful staff member the whole trip. We eventually managed to find out that it was back up at the top of the resort in the Mexican restaurant. I guess in the off season, they don't utilize all the restaurants, and some will share double duty as a La cartes. As we were already late for our 6pm reservation, we couldn't wait for the little tram to come around to take us back up so we had to walk, in full dinner clothes, heels, and our 3 year old. We were very hot & sweaty by the time we made it to dinner. The saving grace here was the food and the waiter, Alfredo who was amazing! The French Definetley recommend dining here if you get the chance, food was great, atmosphere was great and our server Wendy was great! Hands down the best service we got all trip! Wendy deserves a promotion, raise, recognition, something, absolutely the best! THE STAFF Amazing! Very friendly, (other than the one guy at the beach Steakhouse.) Everyone was very good with our boys too, high fives, fist bumps, 1 waiter even made our eldest a locust out of palm fronds during lunch one day. THE ENTERTAINMENT Shows were good. There was a different show each night of the week. They start at 930pm which is a little late in my opinion. Would be nice if they could move them up to 9pm for the littler kids. Circus show on Monday night was great but no live animals, more acrobatic performances. Saw the Peter Pan show on Thursday night, only stayed about 20 mins or so as our 5 year old wasn't feeling well and our 3 year old was scared of the loud noises & flashing lights. Saw the Grease show on Friday night, only watched about half as my 5 year was bored & wanted to leave but I loved what I did get to see! THE GROUNDS Bring mosquito spray!!! Lovely grounds but it is a very long walk to the beach/main pool and this resort is in the middle of mangroves/swamps. Could use more lighting along the paths at night. I'm serious about the mosquito spray, my kids were covered in bites and I was spraying them everynight before we left the room to go to dinner. OVERALL IMPRESSION We have yet to return to the same resort twice as we like to discover new things, but if we ever did, we would not do a repeat of Blue Bay & don't feel like we could recommend it to anyone. This was our first trip in 6 years and our kids first trip ever and though they don't know any different (they just loved swimming everyday) we were pretty dissappointed. I had to keep reminding myself, that at least I was on vacation and that was better than being back at home working:)

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing stay!

My Husband and I spent 9 nights here for our honeymoon. The resort was amazing, very well kept, and the staff was friendly and helpful! Food was excellent, and the service was always fast. Great location to visit Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, & Cozumel for day trips!

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Top notch!! The best resort to stay at!!

Excellence resort is absolutely a gem. The grounds are beautiful and clean the pools and the lazy river pool are amazing. Service is above and beyond. All the restaurants and buffet were delicious something for everyone. Nightly entertainment was great!

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Wonderful resort

The stay at Catalonia Riviera Maya was wonderful. From the welcoming arrival to the good byes when we left the staff were very accommodating. The rooms were cleaned daily and the fridge restocked as well. If you needed any thing they were more than willing to help you out. There were a lot of stairs to get around but manageable. The staff arranged for a golf cart at a decent rate which aloud us to drive around Puerto Aventuras and see the marine animals, shops and places to eat outside the res [... read more]ort. All of the food was very good and the Buffett had enough selection to satisfy all of us. The entertaining staff and bartenders were always friendly and there to make you feel right at home. Access to the water through the beach can be tricky if you don’t wear water shoes as there were a lot of rocks but once you got pass the rocks there was a nice sand bottom. We were there for ten days and we were not disappointed with anything.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Fantastic value for the money

The rooms were absolutely massive (we are a family of 5 and we stayed in a 2 bedroom penthouse suite, more room and storage areas than we knew what to do with!). Low season so not all restaurants were open every night but they rotated so we were able to try all of the ones we wanted (our favourites were the Italian, Sea Olive which was closed for renos but had their menu at pisca, and Koh Thai). Lunch had a few different restaurants open as well, but for those who wanted other options, the room service menu was well above average! Our butler Enoc was fantastic and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the trip without any issues. We are prestige members and were worried about the change in ownership, several emails sent to the hotel with different questions were all answered in a very timely fashion by Saul Valles Loya, who also met us upon check in. Thanks again Enoc and Saul for your fantastic customer service! We did not have to call once to get our room cleaned, turn down service or minibar refilled as the staff were on the ball. The massage by the beach (right above the towels area) was absolutely fantastic as well! The grounds were beautiful, a nice twist is how you can take a trip through the jungle as well. Can't really think if any negatives aside from the nightly entertainment was lacking, they had a raggae band followed by a fire show which was great, but that was about it (aside from the entertainment at the members dinner which only caters to members, not the rest of the hotel). Lots of pools, bars, loungers available and lots of friendly staff everywhere as well. We were worried about coming here at first as the price was very low, but we would 100% come back here!

Paradisus Playa Del Carmen Roulette: Amazing resort

Excellent service, awesome food choices and decent gym facility. Highly recommend Passions restaurant, for the tasting menu with the wine pairings. The Bali beds by the pool were great, reserve with the pool concierge

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Great vacation

We were very impressed with all the amenities the hotel had to offer. The restaurants a la carte were excellent, and they had a lot of activities for children. The water park was a lot of fun. My kids 3 and 4 years old had a blast. They have an adults only hotel that you can also have access too ( the gym is located in the all adult section and the classes are super fun, I did the spinning class a couple of mornings). Transportation was always on time, and we felt very safe. Would visit again.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Had a great time..

First off. The food is amazing here.Buffet an especially the el a carts. Steak house and Italian WOW.. Rooms are getting a bit dated but all and all we have a wonderful time with the exceptional staff.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Welcome to the jungle

Lots of wild animals, bugs and birds at this resort. There is always lots to do. I recommend the adults only section or upgrade to the elite section.. lots of walking. Food was great. Staff isn’t overly friendly but ok. Housekeeping sucks and the bell boys are no help.. good resort for the price

We were very pleasantly surprised by this resort! Very clean and pretty. The rooms were beautiful and the food was fantastic! We will definitely be going back! The staff were very friendly and welcoming!

Ocean Maya Royale: Second go around- always a good time

My friend and I went to this resort in June 2016 - it was a good time then and it was an even better time this trip! They definitely stepped up the resort a bit since last being there, with the addition of a cute little coffee shop, a sports bar, and a bit more nightly entertainment it made for a well rounded trip. I love the small community of this resort. Every single staff member was incredibly kind and always happy to help with anything we needed. Highlight was the pool foam party - which is always a good time! Only bad thing i'd have to say is lack of shade on the beach where you can have direct access to swim. Otherwise amazing time overall

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Absolutely amazing

Occidental xcaret was the best resort that we have ever stayed at & we have been at at least 40 different resorts, the grounds were beautiful, the hotel was very clean, as I am a cleaner & look for this, food was great, hotel staff make you feel very welcome, beach was amazing, we picked this resort because of it being in the jungle with all the wildlife & the xcaret park next to the resort we didn’t expect to have such an amazing time, we plan on going back in May & we have told all our famil [... read more]y & friends about this resort & they can’t wait to book up.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at

From the moment we entered the hotel we were inundated by high pressure sales staff. They were demanding we take a tour of the facility because they wanted to sell us a timeshare thing At the beach t he hotel staff followed us and again demanding we buy time in their spa. When we were forced to agree to spend time in the spa, just to get them off our back. Ocean Maya Royale: Great time!!!

This was our second time back at this resort and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Food, drinks, staff, etc were all amazing!! My only issue were the mosquitoes, but that has nothing to do with the actual resort. Many staff were saying that they have been worse this year than any other year, which I believe because I don’t think I got one bite the first time we were there. Hopefully it is just an “off” year, but I would recommend bringing some bug repellent.
