Riu Republica: Fantastic Experience

Great food, drinks, rooms, service, decent entertainment, beautiful beach, what more could you ask for? Also very happy they weren't playing COVID theatre. Not a mask in sight made it truly a vacation and not a stressful showcase of people playing 'pandemic'. Thank you Riu!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Awesome resort

Check in didn't exactly go as planned,{assigned room was not ready until the following day} once settled in the accommodations were fantastic. All the staff were very friendly but had no explanation for the mishap. Food was readily available throughout the day but limited in the evenings ,{Brasilia restaurant no longer available}. Evening entertainment was also limited and repetitive. Beach and pool were fantastic!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Iberostar Costa Dorado - AMAZING!!!

We have been to this hotel 8 times now and this most recent time was the best so far. Everything improved from our last trip. Only thing that has not improved in all the stays is the service at the bars! Only people who get served are those who over-tip. Everyone else might as well be invisible. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay of 16 nights was great! Highly recommend this resort.

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Gorgeous Resort

The Royalton Bavaro is a gorgeous resort, beautiful rooms, good food and lots of great entertainment. However, we booked in Oct./22 and requested side by side adjoining rooms and a crib. We were travelling with family with 2 small grandchildren.We were told days before we arrived on Jan. 27/23 that the only way to guarantee this was to pay $100 US extra per room. When we arrived not only we didn't get adjoining rooms, we were on different floors. We finally paid more $350 US to move on the first [... read more] floor to be side by side with a swim out pool. Nothing else was available, apparently. As amazing as this resort is, be aware you have to pay for adjoining rooms. Also, hot tubs are not hot, not even warm.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Very nice safe and quiet resort

Our room was in building 9 which was very nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good on the buffet but I did miss their snack restaurant which used to serve chicken pizza burgers fries salad and ice cream, (when buffet was closed). The grounds are kept very well. The views are spectacular the beach is well maintained. The pools are clean it would be nice if there were a few more lounge chairs, tables, chairs and umbrellas . The surrounding area has a lot of places within walking distance, by cab or organized excursions you are pretty centralized.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Resort not keeping up to there previous standard

This resort appears to put everyone in the oldest part of the resort. It advertises as Casa Marina Reef and CasaMarina Beach. I clarified when booking I wanted the Beach side and was put on the Reef side. The resort wanted more money to move which we paid. They closed the snack bar down near the beach and failed to tell any of our party. The rooms were clean but had to run the Shower for 45 min or more just to get hot water. Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Last Visit to Casa

The resort is ok. Last time there was much better and was about 4-5 years ago. This time my wife got very sick, when I called the desk at approximately 11pm was told there was no doctor until 9am. After vomiting and Diarreah for another 4+ hours, she told me she thought she was dying, I called the front desk again. This time the same gentleman told me if it was an emergency he could get a doctor(OBVIOUSLY It was an emergency the first time I called). This time action was taken. She spent the nex [... read more]t three days in the hospital with a gastro infection(food poisoning). After finally getting back to the resort the Guest services manager, Franklin told me to go buy water in the gift shop for my wife if I needed more than the 2 bottles of water supplied daily. When I told him she couldn't consume alcohol the least they could do was give us water, He laughed in my face and said I could drink 2X as much. Very Professional. Also it should be noted that the bottled water at this resort is refilled and not new bottles placed in your refrigerator each day. Also after talking to other guests upon our return, we found out there were many individuals that had stomach issues around the same time that we were in the hospital. Tells me it came from the resort. There is also a restaurant that sits empty which used to be snack bar. you have to make reservations at this restaurant for a-la-cartes between 10am and 11am the morning of so if your not there too bad! No music or entertainment in the day near either of the pools, one day we brought our blue tooth speaker down and was playing country music, Everyone around us loved it but was quickly told to turn it off by security. The grounds are ok, most staff are friendly but overworked especially the bar tenders. The location is about the only positive thing I have to say about the resort this time....We will definitely be back to Sosua but never to this resort again!!

Casa Marina Reef Resort: 3 star

Comparing it to the last time we were there, there were some changes made, not necessarily for the better. The Seafood Restaurant that we enjoyed for lunch as well as dinner was not in use. You had to reserve a spot in the Mexican restaurant, which apparently was only available every other day. The reservation setup took quite a while to get an order placed, if your required area to dine still had availability to take you in.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Casa Marina and Reef enjoyable but.......

I have nothing to compare this trip to as it was my first time here but generally a pleasant trip. For myself, there were a few minor problems like a closet door that didn't work properly, a patio door that wouldn't open, and a phone that fell apart every time we used it.the door issues were looked after quickly, the phone remains a mystery! Judy and I were the lucky ones because several others in our group had other problems like no water for days, no hot water for showers, leaking ceilings,  [... read more]There is a difference between ECONOMY and SUB-STANDARD and some in this group met the latter with no offers of "safety" upgrades. However, personally, our room was well serviced each day, cleaned, fresh towels, etc. Beautiful and well kept grounds, excellent variety and availability of choice in the dining area, friendly and helpful service staff. Transat rep was informative and honest in group care and available for some part of every day. Overall, I enjoyed my trip, but would not repeat unless the offer was reasonable and NOT in the part of the resort that has not been updated. Manuela, thank you for your efforts on our behalf.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Worth it

The resort itself is well taken care of. The staff go out of there way for you. The food is excellent and diverse in both flavors and type.We had a swimup room which exceeds expectation. No problems with checking or check out.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Awesome Resort

Everything was excellent at this resort. The only complaint and the most important complaint was that there was never enough loungers and umbrellas at the pool area or the beach area. We had to sit on chairs with our feet in another chair at the pool bar area in order to lounge in the sun on two of our days there. Other people would lay on their towels on the cement around the pool or on the sand at the beach area.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Cofresi Beach

This hotel is massive, lots of walking, unless you are staying within the timeshare/vacation club, then everyone has a golf cart and they are everywhere. Ongoing issues in the standard rooms with no water and toilets not working properly. We had a suite which was nice, however it was so damp nothing dried and our dry clothes were alway wet from being in room. Not impressed with food, ocean is filthy and rough and there is a constant sewage smell across the resort. Temptation Miches Resort 21 Plus: First time at Temptations and loved it!

This was our first trip to Temptations. It was amazing and I don't know where to begin. It was at 40% capacity. -1 hour and 10 min from airport-loved the scenic ride-grabbed 2 Presidente each for the ride. "Check in was easy and we met Alejandro (butler) immediatley and he took us to our room. He was amazing the entire time we were there. He checked in eve [... read more]ry morning and one morning I wasn't feeling well ( this might be TMI but I had a bladder infection) He said he could help me and he went to the pharmacy to get me antibiotics and brought them to me right away! ( had no idea we could even get antibiotics without a prescrption-anyway he was a life saver!) There were no small bills available at the front desk and I mentioned to him so he got some for us when he went home. This guy was just amazing and so kind! The room- AC was perfect, the bed wa so comfortable and I loved the sheets and pillows. They even had a night service where they would ask if we needed extra towels or anything! We had a swim up in building 4 which I loved because we go to the beach till 3 or 4 pm and then the sun is on our deck all afternoon till sun goes down. Morning we like to have coffee on the deck and the sun is on building 5 and 6 at that time. So we did use room service every day :). The food-was amazing. I loved all the restaurants and yes the morning buffet had lots to choose from (hard time to get butter) The SHE restaurant had fantastic food and a very unique dining experience-be sure to make your reservation! The staff-my Goodness everyone was so pleasant and friendly-by far the BEST SERVICE we have encountered and we have been to 7 different DR resorts. We are not the outgoing couple that talks to people and yet they would remember our names, say hello, ask if we needed anything, joked around. The play makers, Wanda, Popeye, Spicy, Bartender at beach Glennys (love her) waiter Deilin, all the hostesses, the maseuse, Julianna-I wish I could remember everyones names! Entertainment-so we were here for 10 days and only went out 2 nights LOL ( Burning Land and Latin night) it does not start unti 10:30. I did enjoy the shows and I loved seeing the resort guests go all out with their outfits and costumes. The day time pool events were so much fun to watch. It really is the same as any other fun resort except the adult pool bar games are hillarious and fun to watch. The beach-my favourite part. we walked down the beach every day, one day we walked for 1 1/2 hrs one way and the turned around to come back-bring your yetti! The horses would run up the beach randomly and not once did we see poop( weird) and the dogs seem so socialized and well behaved, even the ones further down the beach. I went into the ocean almost every day. I would definitely return.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Caribe Beach resort review

Accommodations for seniors with mobility issues not satisfactory. Request for ground floor accommodations denied for Seniors 80+ who had issues with stairs. Trip with family resulted in parties at opposite ends of resort. This was at times challenging as resort very large. Use of a trolly recommended. Resort itself was beautiful. Dining options were good. Resort would suit younger persons.

Playabachata Hotel: Playabachata

Older but beautiful hotel, food was good the beach was beautiful. Lots of entertainment. Cleaning staff always cleaning washrooms and tables, staff were very friendly to everyone. The hotel is really beautiful. You can walk the beach from one side to the other the gardens are well kept. We had a wonderful time thanks to Karol Chareza from tripcentral looking forward to booking my next vacation at this hotel. Thank you again Karol.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: A great resort

Overall, a very nice resort. Ideal for families and large groups, lots to do on the resort for everybody. Good restaurants and food was good, but not dynamic, but had lots of food. Once you are familiar with the layout, it is easy to get around. Staff was excelleent, friendly, very accommodating and very polite. Easy check-in and any problems encountered were not an issue with the staff. I highly recommend the resort for vacations.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice Resort

Great people, steps to the beach. Washrooms could use some work but very clean! Buffet had a great variety.not a lot for kids to do but staff were very friendly. Not much night life and would have to go the other side for the bar.

Occidental Caribe: Very disappointed

Where do I begin. The first room I had, the door jam was broken (as if it had been kicked in), the room was not clean, tables had sticky surface, bathroom wasn’t clean, (pubic hairs everywhere) safe didn’t work. The building itself required some TLC, the grounds and pool areas were great. I ended up upgrading my room which was in much cleaner, although it had a musty smell. There was a shortage of towels and some days I had to find someone from house keeping to get a towel to shower. The [... read more] food was disappointing, very bland and limited variety. There was a shortage of lounge chairs for both the pool and beach had to get up at 5am to get a longe chair. I was also surprised that most of the staff spoke very little English which communication difficult. Bottom line I feel this property is not 4 star, definitely not worth the price paid. Would definitely not return to this resort.

Playabachata Hotel: Good for the price

Chairs on beach broken or none at all and people use towels to sit on. Room phone does not work to front desk if needed for emergencies and no wifi other than lobby and not able to download as very weak wifi. Important as I was not well and could reach anyone as well as an elderly lady who had food poisoning due to uncooked chicken. That’s the things to be aware of otherwise it was great for the price. Travelled for years to such places. Never experienced such bad service. I would have to find my own knife and fork and glass for water or beer if I could as often hard to find. But again for the price compared to other DR resorts it was a good deal. Just be prepared and have low expectations. I made it wonderful but if picky be aware.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

We found the rooms spacious, grounds well manicured, nice beach to walk. All areas were always clean thanks to the dedicated staff. The buffet food was the always great, best we have found at any resort we have visited.
