Despite early rainy season weather during the first week of May, we immensely enjoyed out stay at Iberostar Daiquiri. It was upsale, well-maintained, had fanastic staff, and really really good food options in every restaurant.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: disappointed
When we arrived there was no welcome at all. As a matter of fact we had to ask for help to bring our luggage to the third floor and the help took some time to arrive. We didn't get our request of a room near the pool, rather we were very far away from the lobby and pool in a room that was rather dark and the toilet was not working. We had our bags brought back to the front desk and requested another room which the answer was we will send someone to fix the toilet, our reply was no, we want anoth[... read more]er room. They finally did change our room. The room was cleaned very well each day, the mattresses were very uncomfortable, the fridge did not work properly and the blow dryer was as old as the hotel and didn't work. We were also charged 2 dollars a day to use the safe din the room which was not secured to any wall or counter, rather it was just sitting on a shelf and anyone could have walked away with it. I went to customer service to ask about the fridge , they told me the was nothing they could do about the fridge or the safe! They did say they would try and do something about the blow dryer......I asked every day when it would be fixed.....finally 2 days before we left it was replaced!
The food was good, staff in the restaurants polite and helpful, however the pool bar staff was not friendly or helpful. On a few occasions I asked for Havana Club and they tried to give me another rum, often no Diet Coke. I had to insist. The staff in the lobby bar work extremely hard and far too many hours, you can see that they are tired and need more staff as true as hard as they could the service was average at the best of times. The staff was friendly and helpful, management was not.
The beach was beautiful and very well maintained. The pool was also nice and well kept. The entertainment was good.
Overall we were disappointed with the hotel and would not return.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: nice resort
The hotel itself was nice, there was no 24 hour snack bar, there was not much variety for food but we always found something to eat. part of the resort was being renovated and there was still not even close enough of chairs at beach or pool.

Hotel Mojito: Great deal and worth it, 4 full days and 3 nights
Last minute decided to get away. 4 full days with 3 nights. Perfect price! Booked. Then found even better deal but was too late to change it (same hotel) but one extra night what is originally my wish. No single supplement at this time of the year (great to know)!
Plane took around 6am and we arrived in Cayo Coco early !!! Had little champagne. At airport bought a beer for $2 or you could buy 2 beers for $5.
15 min bus ride to Mojito. My standard room was ready at 10:30am!!! Fantastic!
Building [... read more]#15, 3rd floor, view over main pool with palm trees and of course the water!!! No balcony, but very big windows. Towels, bathroom, two big beds and plenty of space and free safe and a 1.5 lt bottled water in the fridge (free). All necessities and basics provided.
Beach = beautiful. No problem to get a towel, long chair in the shaded area (harder to find, but made it).
Water: smooth waves, white clean sand, nice stretch to walk.... and safe. I kept leaving my personal belongs the entire trip and nothing disappeared!
Staff was nice and easy going and polite. If I wanted to talk, they were available, they did not bother if I wanted to be alone.
The buffet has some variety and there are stations where they prepare/grill things for you like pasta, fish, meats, omelettes etc... Also, there are two restaurants with nice settings that you need to make reservations for.
The food was the best so far I had in Cuba. Definitely I did not loose any weight. Drinks were plentiful and all free. I don't like the small plastic cups (not environmentally friendly and blow with the wind). I bought a big mug and tipped 1 Cuban Convertible Peso and always got what I wanted.
The entertainment was good, some excellent! Tahiti band rocks at Cigar Lounge! Michael Jackson show was outstanding under the clear sky where you could gaze at the stars and sing along. The front lobby entertainers were also worth coming to listen to and have a drink.
Coffee is good at front lobby bar. I would get my two cups and take them to breakfast buffet (no problem).
The grounds are well kept and there are many beautiful spots to take pictures.
So many different types of sleeping areas. Research what you like: huts on the water in the swamps (nature) or 3 stories buildings scattered around.
There is also adults only pool, swim up bar, kids pool and of course the hotel beach. You can walk in each direction. Next resort is Tryp Cayo Coco. That's more of a party place. Melia Cayo Coco is an adult only and truly 5 star if you need great food and a 5 star service.
I would say Mojito is truly 3.5 star hotel!! Better then the ones I stayed in Cayo Largo and Varadero. Here, I found mostly couples and families. Not sure who won the competition for the "noisy people" since there were no Americans, kids behaved ok; Cubans and French Canadians were without filters!
I could not record much as some people NEVER closed their mouth, I guess they never been to a show or can't handle alcohol, or believe to be reporting "live" and no respect consideration for others. I guess that's what you get for paying low for a nice place. At times you need to put up with other travelers.
There is also a Tourist Bus, 5CUCs (round trip) that takes 1 hr 45 min to go all the way to Playa Pilar in Cayo Gillermo. It stops along the way and you can get on/off. It's a double decker with an open top. Totally worth visiting at least once!
Another short trips can be taken on a Train 3CUCs goes to few local hotels and the Market.
You can take excursions or book from outside. I went bird watching in an 1955 Chevy (?) and horse back riding 1 hr for 10 CUCs.
I could count the flies on one hand in 4 days and got only few mosquito bites when went to caves and swamps looking for birds.
Check out was at noon. My flight did not leave till 8:20, so was getting picked up at 5pm. Took advantage of another full day. Requested a quest suite to take a 5 min shower and get changed for airport.
Sadly, our flight was delayed due to incoming plane and medical issue with one passenger. We did appreciate being explained.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing trip!
Great week at the Laguna azul. They lay out is great everything is close no matter where u are located. Few issues with towels, the buffet wasn't very clean. But things to be expected with such a large resort. Always found something to eat, pizzas are great. The international al la carte was the best! staff for the most part were very friendly and helpful.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good Things Do Come In Small Packages!
We had a superior room without an ocean view. The room was great, clean, ample room to move about, the air conditioning worked well. Beds were more like a super single than double (still comfortable). All amenities were very close by, the beach was fantastic and the employee team were terrific. Great food, drink, and entertainment. I would recommend this resort.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great Resort!!
I stayed for 10 days in early May 2015. The food was great and staff very welcoming and personable. Everything was clean and well tended to. The bed and pillows were not the most comfortable. We had an updated room that was very nice although it had two super singles and not double beds. I would definitely go back again!!!

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Beautiful time at a beautiful resort
Our group of four just returned from a week at the Iberostar Varadero. We had stayed there several times before, but not in the last six years, so were anxious to see how time has changed things. There were a few familiar faces and many new ones which is to be expected.
The grounds were even nicer than before, with the trees and plantings maturing and thriving through the years. The ocean level seems to have risen with beach erosion the unfortunate result. While there, the resort brought in a l[... read more]arge bulldozer to level the beach and eliminate a plateau created by the wave action. We were told that the long range plan is to cut back some of the vegetation to extend the distance from trees to ocean. One of the secrets of this resort is that it is a small resort with a lot of beachfront. You can be close to the action if you want, or far away if you like it quieter.
The lunch buffet by the pool was our favourite. Table service was attentive, food good, and a different musical group playing Cuban music every day. Lots of birds flying around. Watch out for bird poop on your chair. The main buffet was also good. I sometimes find myself resorting to pasta when other choices don't appeal, but this week I only ate it once. Lots of variety, great taste and beautiful presentation. House wines were OK with a la carte choices available for extra $$$$.
Our room was almost perfect. The bathroom was showing it's age a little. The bed was very comfortable, AC worked perfectly, balcony was large with drying rack for bathing suits, towels etc. Small size of resort means that you are never far away from anything. Rooms are a good size and very comfortable.
This resort is a real gem, with great service, lovely surroundings and comfortable rooms. This was our fourth visit and we will be back.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful Resort!
From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. We were greeted with a drink while checking in and although there were many of us who arrived at the same time, check in was quick and efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that our fridge wasn't really cold (but didn't really spend much time drinking in the room). The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Staff was always very friendly and attentive. Pool was wonderful and the beach was great (we were worried a[... read more]bout what to expect with the beach from some of the other reviews). Other guests do wake up quite early to reserve chairs but we didn't have any trouble finding lounge chairs at the beach or the pool when we were there, you might have to walk around for a minute to find one, but honestly, I was in no hurry. The entertainment staff work very hard to make sure that everyone is having a good time. You can choose to be involved in the activities or not. They are not pushy at all if you say no. We were a little uncomfortable with the amount of people on the beach trying to sell things but I was aware that it would happen from other reviews and quickly learned to say "no thank you" and they would leave you be. The food was good, we certainly didn't go hungry. The fresh fruit was amazing and the sushi was great. If you get a chance to eat at the Japanese restaurant, do it! The food is great and it is very entertaining. We travelled as a couple but would not hesitate to bring our children to this resort. There were always activities going on for the kids. A big plus for this resort is that it is a quick 20 min drive to and from the airport.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: First time to Cuba
Ok Vacation . Not used to large resorts. May of been the reason I was not totally impressed. Food was ok . I rather have a more flavourful menu. Beach was very nice . They need to up their game with service ex: lack of clean Towels in Room and pool. I don't mind using the same towel a few time ... but they need to leave it hanging where we put it so we know which is ours . Didn't enjoy using a towel not knowing if it was my roomates used towel....

Hotel Mojito: Good get away
This was my first time to Cuba. The beach was beautiful! It got really crowded though. The hotel wasn't the greatest in my opinion. I found it below average over all. Food was ok, not great either. Room wasn't very clean, bedding was dirty and the grounds need some updating. Its an older resort and it shows, but it gets the job done. Staff were very friendly and great!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Loved this resort!
Hi. We had a great time. The resort was excellent. Really big and a lot of walking but we got use to it after a couple of days. Probably a good thing considering all the food we ate. The food was really good compared to where I stayed in Varadero. I was very pleased. No complaints from my husband either which was initially a concern for him about going to Cuba. The workers at the resort were amazing. Always on the ball, excellent service. They really work hard and very thankful for any tips. I c[... read more]annot believe the difference from my trip to Varadero in 2010. The a la cartes were nice, food was good, loved the Asian one. We went to book our a la cartes right away and most of the reservations left were only for late in the evening like 9 pm which we thought at first was way too late and worked out earlier times on different days but in hindsight we realized that the late reservations would have been better as we didn't have to leave the beach as early to get ready for supper and could have just got a snack around 5 if we wanted. The a la carte at the adult spa section was really good too. Nice that you could just go during the afternoon and not need a reservation. Spaghetti was awesome.
The beaches were beautiful. Really good snorkelling at both beaches especially if you have bread for the fish. Beach chairs were all in good shape. They could use some more palapas but people just made shade with two chairs as there were lots. The grill by the beach bar was good. Lots of choices. Fish, pizza, salad, fruit, hot dogs, etc. The beach bars at both beaches were really good. Megano's beach bar was bigger and we went to a really fun beach party one night where they set up big screens and disco lights and music in the volleyball crt. We got to know the bartender as there was only one working. He worked really hard that night! We met a few Other couples while we were there.
The shows were good on nights that were Cuban related.
I was really impressed that the theatre was indoors and air conditioned.
One more thing. I could not believe how family oriented the resort was. I always said that I'd never take our kids south with us but I think this resort changed my mind. The only thing I think would make it better is if there was a section of one of the beaches was for adults only. Being away without your kids, I found I didn't want to be near kids on the beach. But everyone wants to be in the shade under palapas. We could have gone to the other end of the beach but would have been without shade. Sun was really hot and we had excellent weather all week. 37+degrees and no clouds just sun all week.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Phenomenal Couples Trip
My overall rating is a combination of experience and resort. The staff was very kind and never insisted/nagged for gratuities. The food was hands down the best I've had in any of my down south trips (including 3 resorts in Mexico, 1 in Cuba, 1 in Punta Cana). The Mexican a la carte was filled with amazing flavours, but the Japanese a la carte had great food and an even better experience that included entertainment and interaction. Our garden view room was lovely and kept very clean. The entire r[... read more]esort was kept very clean including the pool area which was cleaned nightly. The beach was very nice and included some great snorkeling less than 20 yards out. We also took the tip top catamaran day trip which included snorkeling; such a great experience that I would highly recommend for anyone that enjoys snorkeling. There was always always something to do during the day and the staff was very entertaining. Night life was decent, although we never attended the disco. Overall, great trip. Highly recommended.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Great resort but terrible flight
Resort was beautiful and staff was amazing. Rooms were a little outdated but we're cleaned daily. Food was average but we could always find something to eat. Really enjoyed the food at the beach grill. Food was cooked fresh right in front of you. The beach was beautiful and water warm and clear. It would of been nice if there were more cabanas because if you weren't on the beach by 7am you were out of luck. Overall had a great vacation. Great service at the buffet from our server Yuri. If you ca[... read more]n, try to seat in his area. He's extremely efficient and knowledgeable.
However, had major issues with Sunwing and would not recommend anyone travel with them. Started to experience problems from the minute I tried to book my seats from home. Sunwing will only allow you to book your seats four hours before the fight leaves which is not the norm as most airlines give you 24 hours. I tried several times to book the seats online but the system wouldn't let me. Since I live about an hour from the airport if I finally had to leave and of course by the time I reached the check in we were given what ever was left. Even had a worse experience coming home. Booked our seats ahead of time from the resort thru the Sunwing representative and paid extra. When we reached the airport we found out the seats were over the wing and we would of had better seats if we had just booked at the airport. Our bags were weighted and we were over. This didn't make any sense as we weren't over going down but were close to the limit. I had only purchased a few souvenirs and knew we couldn't possible be over that much. When I tried to place some things in my purse (it was a big purse) he told me he would have to weigh my purse. This is when another gentleman came over. I asked him what am I going to do then and he said we would have to pay. My husband asked the price and the amount was ridiculous. At this point I said this is crazy and again I questioned how could be over this much when we weren't coming down. I decided my souvenirs weren't worth that much and stated I'll have to throw them out. This is when it went from bad to worse. Without a word he picked up the garbage can and plunked it in front of me. I started to throw out my souvenirs and he never said a word except to tell us we are still over. We felt at this point we have no option but to pay so we did. We travel quiet a bit and we have never had a situation like this or have been treated like this.
I have contacted Sunwing twice but am still waiting for a return call.
This was the first time we have travelled with Sunwing so travellers beware.
