Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Not as good as 2010

This resort is extremely clean. The food selection was not as good as in 2010 when we spent 2 weeks there in January. One plus about going off season is that during the week we felt like we had the resort to ourselves but missed the fun of being there at peak season. My complaint is that on the week ends there are hundreds of local people. I know this is their country but they eat all the food, cut in line and some of them are down right rude.All in all we had a good time and it is the only reso [... read more]rt that we have gone to more than once and plan on returning. We met a very nice Dominican girl who tends the gift shop and became friends with her and Jenny's Jewellery shopkeeper.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Good Time!

The resort was very clean. Grounds well kept. The rooms and beds comfortable. Really nice pool area. The beach was beautiful. A lot of local vendors trying to sell souvenirs but they were very friendly. Food Was good with lots of variety. The main complaint we had was that the staff were not very happy. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great stay

We stayed at the Iberostar Costa Dorada for 11 days in the beginning of may. It was a very nice stay, the staff are excellent at this resort. The resort is well taking care of, the food was good.I would recommend this resort for price you can't beat it.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Very Good!

VERY clean resort. The workers never stopped cleaning. They claimed it was 24 hr drinks, but after a certain hour you could only get beer and wine. Didn't care for that. The beach was awful. Full of sea weed and we saw sea urchins in the shallow water. The venders were very annoying. Overall good resort and have recommended it to friends!

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Good time

The check in was slow because we had to go around to the back of reception, waited almost half an hour to be checked in. But they did bring us drinks while we waited. The room was really nice, had the vaulted ceilings on the third floor. Good size bathroom, everything worked except the safe, but a call to the front desk fixed that. We we quite a walk from the buffet ( closer to the bridge that leads to the beach), but no big deal. The grounds were nicely manicured and the main pool was huge. The [... read more] other small pool was nice if you wanted to get away from the crowds. The buffet was small and very hot, until the locals came and they opened up another section. Then it seemed to be more open. Not a great selection in food, but we always managed to find something to eat. The beach bar grill could have had more selection as well. The beach area was nice, the water always warm.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Week in April at Gran Ventana

Nice smaller resort. Nice room overlooking the quiet pool & bar. Short walk to the beach which was always easy to swim in. Food at the buffet and ala cartes was always good. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Very nice hotel for couples

Rooms were nice,food great,service was very friendly and fast. Special attention to the entertainment team and the night shows. Overall a nice place. The only bad thing about the hotel is the beach and it's not their fault.....the water at the beach is kind of turbid due to a river nearby...

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Excellent food!!

We enjoys our stay. We loved the volleyball , the friendliness . It was very clean and the entertainment was central to everything else, so everyone is always part of the fun. We brought our 2 teenaged daughters and they even had a blast! They danced with staff and met a lot of new friends :-)

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Gorgeous resort !!!

The resort was breath taking. Food was amazing. Staff very friendly. Great family resort. We had an amazing time. Definitely a resort I would come back to. The tours were excellent. Was always something to do even if you wanted to just stay at the resort and relax

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Amazing Resort !

This resort was amazing , My boyfriend and I stayed for one week and it was perfect went to the perfect time , the resort wasn't crowded and the staff were excellent ! The food was awesome ... I my self am a pickey eater and found something yummy to eat everyday. The weather was great and te beach was fantastic , this was my 4th time to this resort and i plan on returning in the next coming years . Thank you Bahia Principe for a fantastic vacation !

Overall everything was amazing.....however...night life....not that great....great place for the price.....pool was good...roooms..very clean and new.....service...ok....food...good....night life....none...

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Amazing holiday again !!!

My husband and I have been going to the Bahia Principe San Juan for over ten years meeting friends from Newfoundland This resort is amazing it is like going to meet family every year we love the staff and the management They will always accommodate are needs.The food in the restaurants has every think always different food and the rooms are nice this is an older resort of the Bahia group and is having some renovations this year which will bring it back to the BEAUTIFUL PEACE OF HEAVEN in the Dom [... read more]inican .

Paradise Playa Dorada: It was good !!

This hotel was very clean the grounds were emaculate the staff were sometimes a little rude and the entertainment only engaged with the same crowed every day ! The food I found was good u always had something u could eat with out a problem. The waiters were very quick at getting u drinks and what ever it is u needed! I give the whole experience two thumbs up!!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great resort for sun and fun

We just travelled here this past May for our honeymoon. Having never been to an all inclusive resort we didn't have much to compared it to but thought the resort was great. The staff were always friendly, food was good, resort grounds were beautiful. The beach wasn't the nicest so we didn't spend much time in the water but did lounge around out there. The pool was huge and very nice to swim in. Rooms were clean but felt more like a cottage than a 5* hotel. No room service. Entertainment was ve [... read more]ry good a couple nights but it got very similar so we wouldn't go ever night we were there. Always seemed to be something going on at the pool- volleyball, scuba diving, various games. Fun to watch or participate. Excursion recommendations- outback safari, catamaran and dune buggy! For a honeymoon you may want to go somewhere else- no upgrades or special treatment (not that you really need that but we've heard it's been a great perk for other couples on their honeymoons- there's only going to be one honeymoon after all!).

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Very nice Resort

Just returned from a two weeks vacation at the Gran Ventana. Having read many of the reviews there were no surprises. I agree with most of the reviews, positives and negatives. The place is clean, rooms are spacious, food was good, staff were very friendly and the weather was perfect. So I have no complaints. I believe you can make your holidays whatever you wanted to be. You can complain about the availability of chairs or you can look around until you find one. You can complain about the hard  [... read more]pillows or you can ask them for a softer one. If you cannot find something you like at the buffet, then you should go to a resort where you can have your personal butler and pay for it. I found they will try hard to accommodate your requests. One request they couldn't accommodate is a hot cup of coffee in the morning or hot water for tea. They know that cold water doesn't make hot cup of tea, but guests consume coffee and hot water faster than the resort can boil it. It didn't bother me however since I decided to skip drinking tea all together. Next time I will carry with me one of those small electric water heater and a thermos cup and heat their coffee or make hot water myself. The city tour excursion I took was a highly priced shopping experience. Except for the cable car, the rest I could have done without. So if you are adventurer you can take local transportation to the cable car buy your ticket, spent as much time as you wanted then buy your rum and cigars at the airport or at the beach. Forget about those highly priced precious stones. I consider this as a rip-off waste of money. Internet is not very reliable even after paying $ 20 a week because I thought I would get better internet than the free one that is available at the lobby and the main pool. I wish they do without the free one and provide a reliable internet at a reasonable price. I paid $ 50-60/ week in some other resorts in the area and didn't get any better service. I would be interested to hear from others who could obtain local service using their smart phone as a hot-spot. Entertainment was mediocre at best, but they try hard and it is worth attending if you prefer it over watching TV or chatting with other guests. In general it is no paradise as some guests thought, nevertheless a comfortable and enjoyable accommodation at the right price. I would, at the right price, definitely return again. Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Excellent value for your dollar

This resort is visually beautiful with plenty of spots to relax and enjoy the view. The one downside is the lack of beach chairs but our room was close enough to go down to swim and then return poolside to relax. Food was great with lots of variety. Lots of fruit.Staff were polite and helpful. You must pay for wifi but it wwas not a major problem. Nice to be able to walk out to explore Sosua

The food was beyond expectation, it was an all guys trip, friendly staff, would go back in a heartbeat, beats Mexico and Cuba for sure! Very clean resort, beach was nice with lots of entertainment throughout the day! Have fun

This is a very nice resort rooms are spacious and very clean the staff is very helpful it is a smaller resort but is very nice food is great many different restaurants to pick from the beach is great other than the locals on the beach coming up to you every two minutes trying to sell you something overall this resort is great

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Amazing Resort!

This was our second visit to the Iberostar Costa Dorada. After our first visit, we knew we had to return. We were not disappointed. From our return customer bottle of rum to the great staff/service there, everything was great. The beach was not crowded so we could find a palapa any time of the day. Food was very good with different variety daily. Not the same old, same old every day. Theme nights were fun. Grounds were kept immaculately. Great place to visit.
