Viva Maya by Wyndham: Good resort

It was our first time in Mexico and we chose this smaller resort. The beach is amazing! Lots of Palm trees for shade and lots of water activities although the seadoos were coming too close and giving off fumes. They should have a designated area. Buffet was small and very basic, comparable to Cuba, I expected more from Mexico, the à la carte were very good tho. The staff works very hard and are friendly. We're not demanding or picky so we still had a good week but would not return.

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Average resort

The resort was a little older and dated but clean and well maintained The rooms were bare bones,no alarm clock,coffee maker and having to pay for the safe was a little annoying. The food in the alacart restaurants was good but lackluster in the buffet The staff and service was excellent. Lots of beach chairs was nice. The shows at night were good. Overall the resort was good but more of a 3 star by mexican standards

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Enjoyed our vacation

The resort is lovely. We chose it for its being adults-only and small--144 rooms. Also, it's about 20 minutes by bus through gorgeous hills and views of the ocean to arrive from the Samana airport. The room was on the small side but clean and attractive. Daily the fridge was re-stocked with pop, Presidente, and water. The bathroom had been updated and was pleasing with the glass shower stall. We certainly did from our room in Building B, which is behind the buffet. Food was just satisfactory even in the ala cartes. This was quite a let-down. The wine and 'champagne' were dreadful. Beach towels were plentiful. The beach had sun loungers pulled up to near the shore so people were very close to one another. However, many people didn't mind being behind, and some even moved their sun beds to the grassy area. No palapas are present, which is sort of problematic since everyone has to move their beds to stay either in the sun or shade from the palm trees. Hence, the over-crowding. The pool was only four feet deep but was nice. A few Bali beds there are reserved early by people. We had a good time but it just isn't the resort for us. I must commend Kim Hartlen, our travel agent from Bedford, NS for being just fantastic! She is a total professional with a friendly touch. Despite my having to ask her some simple questions over the course of a few weeks, she was always polite and patient with me. We already have our next trip booked through her! 😀

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Wonderful vacation

The viva wyndham Samana is a smaller resort which is exactly what we wanted. It has been beautifully restored. The grounds are well kept and lush. The rooms have plenty of space and storage all have some kind of view of the ocean. The bathrooms look great but are narrow. The showers are very good which to me is important especially after time in the ocean. The beach is great for walking in either direction lots of privacy lots of beautiful homes to look at . They are generous with the drinks they have top shelf liquor and a decent white wine.the service in the restaurants runs from good to awesome. The man who runs the smaller lunch area the turns into the Mediterranean restaurant in the evening is fantastic. He really helped to make your time there a wonderful experience. Look for Santos! I would definitely recommend this place to people who want a relaxing friendly personalized experience. It is the type of place where you can do as little or as much as you want!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Amazing Resort and Great People!!!

This hotel had amazing staff and grounds. It is definatly a 5 star resort with all the ammenities. The rooms were super clean and 24 hr room service is another plus. A well needed getaway and super appreciative. Thank you tripcentral.ca

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Great place within budget

This hotel is not fancy- rooms are basic but clean. The staff is incredible... friendly, helpful and welcoming. Grounds are kept meticulously. The beach is absolutely gorgeous, plenty of shade and enough chairs for everyone. Pool is a decent size, never seemed crowded and was always well maintained. Food was ok. Lots to choose from in the buffet, but some days better than others as each day a different nationality was featured. Lots of Mexican options if that interests you. Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: Loved it!

The room is NOT beautifull, but all the rest is! Wounderfull beach. excellent restaurants. great staff. And it took only 45 minutes both ways to travel from airport/hotel. I was travelling with a baby, and she love it too!

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: I won this trip from Jack FM London

Although the beach and the resort was beautiful, I was disappointed overall. The dining room was very crowded and is was rare to get coffee or wine served to us. Disappointed that there was only one bar. The bartenders could not speak english and did not understand how to make specific drinks. Drinks were also disappointing in that they were all from the slushie machine. Poor that the fridge in room did not work and only water was supplied. Venders on the beach were over the top annoying.  [... read more] Entertainment staff crossed the line with propositioning and flirting with my daughter. Other resorts they have been friendly, but not like this. The food was good and the a la cartes were good. The resort was clean and a nice size.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Wonderful, relaxing stay

This small resort is for couples that enjoy a quiet, off the beaten path experience for complete relaxation. The staff was attentive and available to accomodate for almost every detail. The rooms are smaller but updated with clean bathrooms, large screen TV's and modern decor. We were able to enjoy free wifi almost anywhere, including the beach! The head chef from Viva Wyndham Resorts was there at the time and the quality of the food was excellent considering some of the earlier reviews we had read before we went. The Viva Wyndham V Samana was an excellent resort vacation and would highly recommend to couples who want to get away from it all!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Will Definitely Go Back!

This is the first resort my husband and I have visited that we can't wait to go back to. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Viva Wyndham Samana - it is kept spotlessly clean inside and out, perfectly laid out with a view of the ocean no matter where you are, delicious food, fun and friendly staff and a beautiful beach. The staff always had something going on in the evenings - beach party, stage show, bingo ... it's not a big resort, so mostly low-key, but lots of fun. We traveled with another couple and can't wait to go back next year with more friends.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Great resort for relaxing

The staff are always smiling and very quick to help. The grounds are very well kept and there always maintaining the pool as well. The team ask if you wanted to join in the games everyday but did not push. The food was hot in the a la carts with good service. The beach buffet was good, pizza, but always ran out, not replenish a lot. Thanks, we had a great week.

Beautifully kept grounds, with clean facilities, hard working staff, and a gorgeous beach. This is a small resort with only 144 rooms in 3 storey buildings which are all in close proximity to the shallow, sandy bottom, well shaded (with palm trees) beach. The rooms are on the small side, but who goes to sit in the room! Wifi is included and works quite well ...most of the time; sometimes even on the beach. Everything was Great , Clean, excellent Variety on Buffet. Beautiful Beach. A bit Noisy at Night in Room on 2 nd Floor .Great Idea to have Self Serve Cold Drinking Water. Enjoyed 3 al a Cartes, food good, Service Not, overall Great Resort , Service Sometimes ok , Also too many Vendors on the Beach, all day. !!!

Rooms and facilities are clean and up to date. Food is good, beach and pool good, close to town. A la carte restaurants were good. Shows ok. It is a relatively small resort so all amenities are close. I would return to this resort.

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Not what I expected but amazingly more!!

This hotel is simply a gem. Close to the airport, a huge, nearly un-populated beach without other resorts nearby (maybe 2 other small hotels), very safe, fantastic staff, very good food and the rooms were very modern with comfy beds. We were there for only a week but simply were impressed by almost everything. This is a well laid out hotel, with a beautiful pool and multiple styles of lounging areas near the pool. There were fantastic, enthusiastic staff that got many clients doing yoga, bache, volleyball, salsa dancing and just generally having a very fun vacation if that is what you wanted but they were never pushy. Overall I am impressed and would recommend this hotel and the Samana area to anyone looking for a trip south. I almost hesitate to give it such a good review because that typically means the price may go up next travel season. My biggest concern is the very real possibility of future development along this extensive mostly empty beach. That would change my review and it would be a shame.

Excellent location, particularly for wind watersports. Plenty of lounge chairs around the pool and on the beach. Very friendly staff. Buffet was so great that there was no real need to eat at la carte restaurants (we made only two reservations during our 2 week stay). Rooms were freshly renovated. The main drawback: the free internet was available only at the lobby and it was so slow that was practically unusable. The paid internet was very expensive (USD 15/day per device) so I ended up turni [... read more]ng on data roaming on my phone and using it as a hot spot for other devices (still quite expensive). Would be nice to have a jacuzzi in the pool area.

This resort was very very comfortable to be at. The staff was great and made you feel at home there.Everything was just super.The buffet was amazing, everything you would want was there, fresh squeezed juices, plenty of desserts and lots of fruits. excellent...

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Great resort; amazing travel agent!

This was our overall first vacation. Booking the vacation was so easy with Jack our travel agent. We also bought the medical insurance which I strongly recommend as we did use it for our daughter. The doctor was in our room within one hour of calling the insurance company and they arranged everything for us including the medications. Overall the hotel staff were so nice there was so many activities to do for the adults and the kids club personnel were so nice. The beach was gorgeous. One thing I will say is beware of the Zika virus. We flew down in the end of September and due to the moisture and lots of rain and there was a lot of mosquitoes. My brother, his wife and their one-year-old all got the Zika virus....... other than this unfortunate event I would definitely recommend the resort to someone else it was so much fun they had a lot of activities during the day and I would definitely recommend taking a tour to the reef which is not far at all. So worth the money !!! The experience of booking this vacation was easy and I will definitely use jack as our travel agent again!!!!

Viva V Samana by Wyndham: Simply Amazing

Stayed at Viva Wyndham for a week in mid August. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made a great choice. Staff are amazing and make you feel like you are an old friend. Rooms clean and well appointed, food at buffet and a la cartes great, beach stunning. We would highly recommend this hotel to adults looking for a quiet getaway. If you're looking for a party resort keep looking, lol

Viva Azteca by Wyndham: Great Resort

The hotel is beautiful. The food was above average at both the a la cartes and buffet. The drinks were very good. The staff was amazing. The only downside was the animation staff was not very interactive. I would highly recommend this resort.
