Carisol los Corales: GREAT Resort

We stayed at Carisol los Corales from December 25 to January 1. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised how clean and tidy the resort looked and felt. Staff was very friendly, the beach amazing, food was quite good as well! I loved the views- you are surrounded by mountains!!! I loved the fact that kids were able to roam free (as the resort is small) and we were not worrying about their safety at all! no matter where you stayed (cafeteria or your room) everything was literally few minutes wal [... read more]king distance! A la carte were great as well (my favorite dish- fish in a curry sauce!) delicious! I thought the resort was greatly situated and I would definitely recommend to those that want to get a feel of "real" Cuba! I actually loved the fact that you have dogs and cats, sheep and horses roaming the property! Our boys were so occupied with the animals (both 6 years old and one 9 year old) The only negative aspect were the rooms. Don't get me wrong-they were VERY clean and spacious and no smell of moisture or mold whatsoever!! BUT they are so outdated to the point that some fixtures and renovations would be recommended! the grouting job in the bathroom was very bad..LOL... Generally I would recommend this resort greatly! For a 3 star resort I must say that you get everything-the views, the beach, the food....

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Enjoyed our stay

We went as a family of 6 and enjoyed our stay. The first impression when we walked through the doors was that it was a typical all inclusive place. We were quick to get to the counter to register for our rooms. The girl working was friendly and quick to assign us to 3 rooms. Fortunately we were able to get the rooms very close to each other. The food a [... read more]t the resort buffet was typical Cuban. Not a lot of flavour. We had no problem finding enough to eat. Lots of choices. We did eat at 2 of the 4 Al le cartes. Benny's was the first one we ate at. It was great. Great atmosphere and the food was terrific. Serving staff were happy to help us and very quick to make sure we had everything that we needed. One of the kids has a fish allergy, so they were very accommodating to make sure that no fish came in contact with his order. A couple nights later we ate at one of the other restaurants (can't remember the name of it). The food was fantastic, great service and a lot of fun. The beaches were beautiful. Not over crowded (this would be due to the resort not bursting at the seams with vacationers). Grounds were clean and well manicured. Drinks were well poured (if you like rum). Quick service at the bars and happy servers that would help select the right drink for that day or night. One issue that happened a couple of times through the week is the power would go off in the Tropical rooms area. I don't know if the power outage was on the whole resort or just contained to our area. It didn't really affect us at all. Was just dark for a couple minutes. Generally the power was returned to normal quickly. All is all we had a great family vacation and would recommend going to Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca. It is not fancy but it worked well for us.

Carisol los Corales: Beautiful beach

The resort is outdated and needs TLC big time! My room was decent, but more like a two star room. Definitely bring your own pillows as the ones provided are tiny:( also I would recommend to bring your own hand soap and kleenexes. The food was ok, plenty of meat and starchy foods but no much of veggies except for cucumbers, white and red cabbage and carrots and peas...so don't expect variety, same for fruits...grapefruits, pineapples very little of papaya. The [... read more] beach is beautiful with mountain view, great for relaxing, snorkelling and kayaking (no extra fee) I would suggest to bring water shoes as the shore and water is rocky and full of urchins.

Carisol los Corales: Summer camp style

The hotel grounds were well maintained (keeping in mind that there was a hurricane there recently) and the bungalow we stayed in was clean and we always had hot showers. Instead of Oceanview, we had parking lot view with idling buses. Since it was during Christmas holidays they were fully booked and could not offer us another room. The food was very basic. We had either a custom omelette or hard boiled eggs, toast and coffee. If any fruit was put out it was quickly absconded by whoever was  [... read more]there first. For lunch we often had a mini pizza in the Italian restaurant next to the main food hall. Dinner was pretty much always the same. Cucumbers, cabbage, lots of white rice or curried rice with a variety of stewed meats to put over the rice. There was often pork and fish being grilled if you were willing to wait in line. We had a la carte twice ( both times there was no seafood available.). They tried hard to give a good service but they just don't understand efficiency. Ie. Bring bottle to the table to refill wine glasses!! No, the waitress has to carry them to behind the counter, refill them and then try to remember whose glass it was! Desserts looked okay and the ice cream was very popular. We were disappointed with the lack of fresh fruit, and were told that the fruit trees were damaged and that they could only serve up what was delivered to them. 3* Cuba..understandable. We had to go reserve our chaises at 7:00 am orelse there would not be enough. Luckily people respected our towels to reserve. Our neighbours had a blue towel stolen and were charged $35 to replace it, even though they had been tipping excessively throughout the week. The resort was full of Cubans, and we felt that they got preferential treatment. (We were told that there was no shrimp at the Cubana a la carte). The Cubans at the next table not only had shrimp, but they had a lot of it. That's blatant discrimination...if you say there's no shrimp, there should be none on other tables!

Carisol los Corales: Nice resort

Nice hotel with a nice beach. Many small things that need improving but overall pleasant place to stay. Activities are scheduled every day however only few are played. Stray dogs and cats in the restaurants I don't think are appropriate. No Wi-Fi on premises a big minus. Staff is friendly.

Club Amigo Mayanabo: Delightful Hotel, Pool, and Beach

Our family really enjoyed staying at Club Amigo Mayanabo The arrangement of the buildings (main hotel lobby, restaurant, billiard room, the pool, the courtyard, gardens, stage and activity areas, adjoining guest rooms, walkway to beach) are well distributed. The activity and entertainment staff also speak English, French, Italian, and German (maybe other languages as well). There are a wide array of activities for children and adults alike. The entertainers and dancers who perform everyday are very talented. We stayed in the basic room- this was perfectly fine- the cleaning staff were very courteous and maintained the room. When we return we will upgrade to a suite- a little more expensive-but well worth the difference in price. We looked at one and found it to be very spacious and well equipped. The staff at the restaurant were kind and very attentive. The food was very good. The beach is very quiet....It's a perfect place to relax and read under the shade of a palm leaf umbrella. The location is very secure and our son (12) enjoyed having the freedom to walk around the complex and participate in activities on his own.

Carisol los Corales: Great value: clean and comfortable

Have stayed here before; it seems spruced up. Clean and comfortable. Activities good. Mario, my Cuban guide/friend, joined us. Rental car was available to go over the mountains to Baracoa and Alejandro de Humboldt National Park. My 86- and 75-year-old lady friends also loved it.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful beach.

If you’re looking for value for your money then Club Amigo Atlantico is a resort of choice. The beach is beautiful and the secluded alcoves welcoming. From the eastern most alcove a 50 metre swim puts you out among the coral and some great snorkeling, both for colour and variety of aquatic life. The food was tasty with a good variety so suit most guests. A little congested if you came later to eat with some slight wait times. The two a la carte restaurants had excellent choices well prepared. [... read more] Service was efficient and courteous. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Rooms clean but showing some wear. We enjoyed our stay and will probably return in the future to enjoy the resorts hospitality and amazing coral.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: You get what you pay for

Grounds were ok. Dated, but ok. The rooms were absolutely horrible. We switched to a Villa which was supposed to be better but they were still terrible. Beds were uncomfortable and bedding was changed only when we asked to have them changed. The beach was nice. The food was terrible. Things were reheated until it was finished (usually 2-3 days) not always enough food for everyone. I will never visit this resort again!

Carisol los Corales: Never again.

No soap in the bathrooms or toilet paper. Dishes in the dining room were dirty. The food was greasy and the poorest cuts of meat. The dive boat was not there as the papers had not been signed, no catamaran. The room was clean. The staff is helpful and friendly.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Holiday in Cuba

The beaches are fantastic! This was our first visit to Cuba, you do need to remember that this country has been under an embargo for many years and therefore you may not find all those creature comforts you are used to when on vacation. I can totally understand why the staff in some cases is sick and tired of tourists who drink all day and behave in ways that are less than desirable. Banana's, watermelon and oranges are your fruit of choice. Didn't see salad greens anywhere! For the price really can't complain but next time would upgrade to a newer hotel.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: It was a great time!

The rooms were fine. Food varied, but overall it was alright. The staff and grounds were amazing. Bottom line : I would certainly go back. I went to have a fun time with my girlfriend and friends and that happened every day.

Carisol los Corales: well worth the money

stayed several times at this hotel, and find it the same every time, very enjoyable and the staff is so friendly, they do everything they can to accommodate you for whatever reason..the food could be better, cold most of the time, so eat from the grill.... ..the recreation staff is great, they try to get you involved in games and pool activities. will go back again

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Our home away from home.

We love Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca. We have been going to this resort since 2008. Some years we manage to go twice. Love the people. Always so nice and helpful. The resort is clean. The staff work hard and are always so nice to us. My husband and I have no problem with the food either. There is always something tasty available. Restaurants on the resort are great. We have also made some great friends with a few of the locals. Like I said, we love this place.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Resort so so

Weather very good, no rain during a day. Problem with beach towel, mostly time station closed or no clean towel. Entertainment very poor. Lots local people in the hotel, resort and the beach. They very noisy, with inappropriate behavior, the do not stay in the line for resort services.

I was so frustrated when I first camed they gived me a standard room in the banker with alot moskitos and had to pay 30 pesos to change the room and anothe 16 pesos to have a fridge and a locker it was degusting i've never in my life had to pay for those services and i'm not mentioning the low qualities of food etc... its my last time

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Large Resort, beautiful beach!

This resort was very large with alot of walking. The beach was absolutely gorgeous with white soft sand and barely a stone in sight. Our twenty-something daughters loved it. The food was fine, but very repetitive. Lobster dinner down the beach on the hill was lovely and quite fancy. The rooms were nicer than what we usually experience in Cuba, but our girls had issues in their room with the air conditioner leaking and the ceiling actually leaked significantly during one heavy storm. We had a couple wonderful servers but it was not the same "family" type feel as a smaller resort. We did not stick around long for the evening entertainment. It appeared to be the usual cheesy shows but we had some wonderful bands play on the beach and at dinner time. Loved it! If you just want a gorgeous beach with snorkeling and decent food at a good price, by all means check this place out.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Made memories!

We found the grounds tidy and safe. Staff were pleasant. The hotel seemed to be populated with Cuban locals. There were a lot of locals asking for handouts in and around public beaches. The food was ok, not much of a vegetable/fruit selection-this impacted by the hurricane as they had to help the opposite side of the island is what we were told. Rooms were comfortable, lots of hot water and very clean. Housekeeping is attentive and grounds crew were very friendly. The 24hour snack bar was sh [... read more]ort and less accommodating. Felt like we were supported last because we were not Cuban.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful Resort

The grounds of this resort are beautiful and the staff do an amazing job of keeping it clean. The rooms are outdated but clean. The beds were comfortable and when we reported a problem with one of the toilets the staff was very quick to fix the problem. The entertainment staff also worked hard to provide a variety of activities, from bingo to mini golf and ping pong tournaments,aquafit and "bull riding"in the pool. It is a good place to vacation as a family or not.
