Blau Varadero: Fun in the Sun & Sea

A one week getaway at a 4 star all-inclusive. Excellent hotel service from arrival to departure. The rooms are tired but were air-conditioned & clean. Each has a private balcony. Recommend requesting an ocean view (pool side) room & if possible, the 5th floor or above. Only the rooms, buffet restaurant, international restaurant, exercise room, games room, & the few shops had AC. Wifi is available only in the lobby & piano bar-2 peso/hr. The food at the buffet was abundant, fresh but predictable.The pool area is lovely with grounds that are very well maintained. Food & drinks are available at poolside. A very short walk on a boardwalk to the sea and an incredible sandy beach that stretches miles. Adequate lounges and umbrellas for shade. A small restaurant at the beach provides food & drinks-24hours a day. I would highly recommend a day trip to Havana-about a 2 hr drive each way. A few comments on currency. The official currency - 1 peso(CUC) = $1 USD. The peso (CUC) is effectively the only one used everywhere. You can change money at the airport or hotel or any bank. This hotel has a very good rate. Bring Canadian dollars (NOT US dollars-13% charge to covert USD). Only change what you need at the front desk, since you are unable to change back into foreign currency at the hotel -ONLY at the airport (with passport) when you are leaving-and you don't get a great rate. Although we were told by travel agents that you can use either VISA or Mastercard (only if not issued by an American Bank)-reality is CASH is preferred everywhere, only some tourist shops accept VISA and charge a 3% fee. The only small problem we encountered was the rising request for tips-from airport transfer buses, excursions, & musicians in Havana restaurants. This did not happen in the hotel; however, most people choose to leave a few pesos a day with restaurant waiters, at the bar, and for the maids.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Returning customer -- Love this place

People who work at this resort are amazing!! Always full of returning customers which speaks volumes. Beach is great! Disco is a ton of fun! Less than an hour from airport. I will definetely come back again

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Amazing and beautiful resort!

Resort was absolutely beautiful. Beaches are amazing. Staff is outstanding! The staff made us feel like family. A very safe environment. Nice quiet and clean resort. I would highly recommend this resort to friends and family. I plan to visit again in February!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: First vacation of my life couldn't have been any

Really loved this resort, the people and staff where super friendly. The food was great and so was the accommodation's. Already planning to come back next year. Would recommend Blau Costa Verda to everyone. Thanks for an awesome vacation.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: A Wonderful Week At Blau Costa Verde

We were a group of 6 friends who stayed at Blau Costa Verde during the last week of October on a Hola Sun vacation. The Cubana flight was very basic (no movies), but a small meal was served in flight and a couple of the male attendants were having a wonderful time with the passengers and their dancing in the aisle was the best in-flight entertainment we've had in a while! The hotel itself is one of the nicer ones we've stayed in in Cuba – note that it is worth every cent to upgrade to the Plus section. Our block of rooms (buildings 16 & 17) was very close to the Plus section pool with pool bar as well as the beach and a cute little ranchon restaurant. The Plus rooms were superior by Cuban standards, notably, a glass shower with plenty of water pressure and hot water, air conditioners that worked well and a comfortable bed. Housekeeping, as we've always found in Cuba, was outstanding. The hotel staff were outstanding from Adam in the VIP bar who juggled bottles of rum for us to lovely Sonnelly who went out of her way to help us every time we asked. It seemed that the staff all had a high level of training in English so communication was easy. The buffet food was so-so being served in an outdoor restaurant temporarily until the indoor buffet renovations are completed, however the a la carte meals were much better and well worth booking (as Plus patrons we got 4 a la cartes each). The only room for improvement would be repairing/replacing the public washroom locks throughout the complex, adding staff to keep the washrooms clean during busy times, repairing all of the balcony locks (none of ours worked properly), and adding screening or netting to the buffet stations to keep the flies and birds off the food. We would definitely return to this hotel to stay in the Plus section again.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Best Time Ever

We have traveled to Cuba on eight other occasions. Each time we say that it was the best yet, but this time we really mean it. We loved the colonial architecture, the excellent food and the beach. But the people working there really are the best.We had such good service. The resort was only partially open due to it being the off season. This worked well for us as there were no lineups. Muthu Colonial Hotel: A nice place to visit

It's a very nice resort, the beach is clean, and clean pool, room is clean, the cleaned it every day. Staff are friendly and the service is excellent, food is good, recreation activity is every day night time depends on the interest of the visitors.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Staff are amazing

The beach was beautiful, rooms were acceptable, power would go off sometimes, and one incident of no hot water early in the morning, but overall it was more than adequate. Entertainment every night, just really enjoyed the trip

Blau Varadero: Amazing vacation

I'm well impressed, already planning to go back. It is a large hotel & the amenities are good.It is situated on a large property and the is lot to do do in the garden as well as the fantastic beach. The food was excellent and the service at the fine dining was five star.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very enjoyable stay!

I stayed in the Plus section with ocean view. The room was clean and new with a coffee maker (bring your own coffee...morning coffee is important to me) Building was fairly far from the beach so view of the ocen was from a distance. Beach was also a public one so there was much security evident around the resort...I didn't mind that. Beach was great; staff were welcoming, service was superb, a la carte restaurants did a good job and a welcome change to the buffet. Charges are in American dollars but I wasn't informed of this.

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort

we enjoyed our stay very much, very clean beautiful resort. Only complaint no air conditioning in lobby, hallways and elevator....more reason to head to the beach though!!, and some lounge saving for big tippers I guess!

Blau Varadero: Better the second time around

This was our second time to the Blau Varadero We really enjoy coming here as the staff really do make the place to what it is The hotel grounds are really great and there's always some staff wanting to see if they can offer you anything.We found the food to be good as there always seem to be plenty to eat Yes some days there were repetitive items in the buffet but you could find food any time of the day in other spots on the resort I am even looking at booking for Apr of 2016

Blau Varadero: 3rd time this year!

My husband and I just got back from our 3rd vacation this year at Blau Varadero. EXCELLENT HOTEL EXCELLENT SERVICE EXCELLENT PROFESSIONALISM There are a lot of people to thank for our great stay. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Memorable resort

It was my first time to Blau Costa Verde resort and I stayed in the new area, the Plus building. I appreciated how well it was kept, the fact that an umbrella had been left in the room to use during times when the sun is too strong to just walk under it. Great weather, good food and respecfull staff. Also the fact that Hola Sun included an excursion in the package was a lovely surprise and a smart move on their part to encourage travellers to book more excursions. The staff work hard and their work was appreciated to accomodate us. Entertainment was good for the few times we took part of it. It was nice coming back home wanting to go back next time I go to Cuba.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Amazing food, great people

Hotel is amazing, clean and spacious. Staff is nice and welcoming. The resort looks like a little village, has small stores. Beach is close by, clean and they have great entertainment at the beach. I like that they help you with the benches.

Blau Varadero: Wonderful vacation!

The resort was clean and well-kept, food was better than most in Cuba, and the resort employees were amazing. This was our first time staying at the Blau Varadero, but we would definitely go back. Only negative was we didn't enjoy the International a la Carte.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Excellent

Everything was great except for the food.wonderful people love to go back soon hope they improve the quality of food and add some flavor.bar service was excellent lots drink entertainment was very good too.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very good expect for the beach

I found the hotel very good, the service excellent, I only eat at the buffet but it had a lot of things to choice from such as custom made to order omelets for breakfast. I would recommend to the hotel owner to have the water in front of the beach have stones as rocks removed from it. I was only in knee deep water but was stumbling around like I was drunk because of stepping on stores or rocks. So I only when to the beach three times, twice to try a swim and the last time to turn in my beach tow [... read more]el. I did use the pool several times and enjoyed the swim up bar.

Very good Hotel!!! just the show at night can be better and the room must to be renovate. Service excellent, very clean areas and they have variety food and especial sea food. The beach is beautiful!!!!

We stayed 1 week at blau costa verde the last week of july and everything was great. The staff was so welcoming and always made sure that we were having a great time. The service at the resort was also wonderful along with the entertainment. Last but not least the beach, which was absolutely breathtaking. Overall it was a great vacation with no complaints.
