Good resort, bad agent

People at Gran Ventanda were wonderful (my 3rd visit). Unfortunately they were not notified of a couple of requests. I cannot walk very far. We wanted a room close to the bldg entrance, ground level, facing the pools. We arrived, they did not know I was a returning guest, the room was at the end of a long hallway facing a fence. The next day management moved us to a fabulous room. They were very accommodating.

Very Nice Resort

I would give this resort an 8 across the board, the only complaint was that our room faced the exit road out of the resort and it was noisy, So try and stay away from rooms facing the enter or exit roads in the 3 building. Delivery trucks at all hour of the night and lots of noisy motorcycles. Food was great, room was nice and clean, people that work there are very nice. I would go back to this resort again but would ask to stay away from the 3 rd building

Great Trip!

Well, when we first arrived we were not sure of the place. It is rated a 4 star, but I would rate it 3 star at the beginning. As the week went on I did feel differently about many things! The rooms were always clean but it really could use some up grading, curtains, for sure better pillows! The food was very good at all locations. We asked for a different crib and got a much better one. It could use more unbrella’s at the pool. Always had water,pop and beer daily, clean towels daily. Close to airport, 20 minutes.

Nice small resort

Lobby and common areas were nicely maintained. 90% of the staff working there were not friendly and looked miserable, starting from the reception check-in, up until the restaurant servers and bartenders. This makes this great resort a very depressing place to be when trying to enjoy being on vacation. Been to 4 and 5 star resorts in Mexico and Cuba, and those were much more pleasant to be in. Pillows and sheets were changed daily but still smelled like wet dog. This place has great potential and I made the most of my stay, but I would not return to this particular hote due to staff attitude and energy.

A resort to go back to!

We had a wonderful time at the Gran Ventana. The food in the buffet and three specialty restaurants was excellent and the service friendly and efficient. The beach is spectacular and you can walk for miles in both directions. The rooms are basic but absolutely spotless,the balconies spacious and the room service was very good. Geat Family Resort

I was very pleased to see everything was wheelchair accessible even the beach. Very very clean. Loved the coffee/tea station outside buffet beside pool. Also loved the infused water stations instead of bothering bartender. Lots of loungers and shade around the pool. Beach was raked every day where there where plenty of loungers but a lot need to be replaced. It has a small reef for snorkeling and the kids club is next to the large pool not in the woods. Excellent Resort!

Everything was very clean, including the rooms, bathroooms, etc. The staff were very friendly. The food was great! Everything was easy access to the beach and the amenities. Would highly recommend it.

Great Resort

Gran Ventana is very clean resort from rooms to grounds to beach. Staff are continually working on every area. Lots of hot water for showers. Clean towels and bottles of water replaced everyday.Staff is friendly and helpful. We did not go alacarte restaurants. The buffet was delicious at every meal. Lots of variety. Check in was quick. Upon arriving we were served a cold refreshing fruit juice. Our luggage arrived at our room quickly. We would definitly return .

Amazing resort

Family of 5, 2 adults and 3 teenagers visited VH GRAND VENTANA from Feb.16 to Feb. 23 2018. The rooms were spacious,clean and airy. The beds were ok but the pillows were lumpy and not comfortable at all.( they need to invest in better pillows) The grounds and common areas were well kept clean and tidy. The Caribbean and the Italian restaurants were excellent for a la cart,and the buffet was amazing with different food seletions daily. However, the chairs around the pool were not enough since people claim their chair with towels or slippers early in the morning. I think it would be effective if the staff established a rule that seats cannot be occupied if you not present at the pool. This way, everyone could also enjoy the sun by the pool. On the beach there was enough chairs. There was quite a few vendors that walked the beach back and forth, however I did not feel pressured to buy anything. I would say "no thank you" and they would walk away. During that week it was quite windy on the beach which was unfortunate as we would rather spend more time there. Also, the entertainment team was great. After the shows I would have liked to have more dance music and have a dance party at the resort instead of going to the discotec Cluber. Although it was very close by which is convenient, it would not start until after midnight. Overall,it was a great trip and I would love to go back!

Very clean resort

This resort was the cleanest resort I have ever been to, they bleached all floors in your room , bathroom , and balcony everyday . They also bleached the hallways , pool area and main hall everyday . There was always people cleaning . When you went to dine in the buffet at anytime you were offered hand sanitizer . The vintage club was very enjoyable and was nice to have the premium drinks as the cheap ones are pretty blah, also a lot quieter then pool area , it would be nice if it had a outdoor part as it is on the second floor . The a la cart restaurants are hit and miss some nights great some not . We liked the ocean grille best , then the Italian , and then the octopus. The food in the buffet was pretty good with a wide variety. Our room was just like the picture with a king bed in the renovated building , we heard scary stories about the building by the quiet pool very rundown . I recommend taking hangers with you as there are not many in the room and also there is no dresser in the room so you live out of your suitcase . Staff do not speak much English but they try . If you get the upgraded wifi it works great but the free wifi very slow . The upgraded is included in the royal package and each person gets their own wifi as it is only one device on one password . Lots of vendors on the beach constantly even on the private beach gets annoying after awhile . We were warned about drinking cream drinks as they can cause as they call it the Puerto splash 😁. I stuck with Jackie’s special for the resort drink . The free wine is not the greatest , I ordered a drink instead . Snorkelling is great out front the hotel as the are lots of reefs and wave breaks so you see lots of different fish and someone actually caught octopus in front of the hotel . Water is not deep , so great for kids . It is hard to get chair around main pool unless you get up early and put a towel on it , but I preferred the beach anyways so it didn’t bother me . Your entertainment is typical resort nothing great but not bad , they had karaoke, Michael Jackson impersonator,etc . I would recommend this resort.

Very nice resort! Wonderful staff!

The hotel was very nice, super clean and the staff was wonderful! The food was very good. Note the resort is a smaller one so a bit different than a large resort. The staff were engaged with the visitors which was fun. I would recommend they upgrade their gym as it is old and small with some equipment not working, Also the sound system needs upgrading and the staff could use new costumes. 100% Amazing resort!!!

Very simple. The entire resort was amazing from: rooms, bed, grounds, food, internment, staff, beach, cleanliness, activities, etc...nothing bad to. Had a amazing holiday and would return in a heart beat. Promoting this resort to all friends and coworkers.

Amazing Resort!

I enjoyed everything about this resort! I had so much fun and would most definitely go back! It’s a beautiful resort with great service and amazing food, I was amazed at how good the buffet and restaurants were! The employees there are so friendly and the entertainers do a great job in entertaining guests. The rooms were very clean as well as the public washrooms and the rest of the hotel/resort. I had a great week, I recommend for people of all ages! Thank you Gran Ventana!

Great Location

The initial thoughts as soon as we arrived were great. The place looks amazing, very classy and I would suggest possibly 4.5*. When it came to our room we just got a standard room but because it was a corner room in the far building our room was massive! 20+ feet ceilings for sure and lots of space. The food here is amazing, normally resort food isn't anything to write home about but this was that odd occasion where it was better than the rest. There is no 24hr bar, theres not real night life here which is why it would be great for older people however my gf and I went because we didn't read too much into the resort and for a 4* it was priced right and seems like a lot of other younger people did that same thing so it was a little disappointing. The real question I guess most people would want to know is would we go back? Absolutely. Top notch resort and the employees are extremely friendly and fun to be around.

Very Satisified

This resort is beautiful with great services. There are very friendly employees , great food, as well as a large variety of foods. There is also good entertainment available, big pools and most importantly the resort is very close to the beach.I enjoyed everything this resort had to offer and I would definitely recommend it to a friend and would want to come back again! It was truly an enjoyable stay where many memories were made.

Great Place to stay

Our first trip to DR and also a first with VH Ventana. This is an older resort but in excellent condition, you can tell they work hard to maintain it. Some sections (ours was) have been updated, very nice! The food here was fabulous in all sections with the exception of Italian. We did not go as friends highly suggested not to. The beach.... wow nice, not white sand but still wow! You could easily walk 10k one way. Remember this resort, I fully recommend it!

The staff were amazing

The staff and food made up for the week of rain everyday. The restaurants were the best that I have ever been to in an all inclusive resort.The only complaint is that there are not enough chairs nor umbrellas.You basically had to come down at 5:30AM To get a chair with an umbrella and stay there or your towel or blanket like mine were stolen. People would save chairs early in the morning but would not come down until 1:00PM.So not fair for the older people who are unable to stay out in the sun a [... read more]ll day. Apart from the rain and fighting for the Umbrellas , everything was great.

Great staff nice resort

The staff does an amazing job here , the property isn't huge but it's part of the playa Dorado complex and I think one of if not the nicest one . Foods pretty good drinks are pretty good beach is pretty nice pool is decent size for property kind of 3 leaf clover shaped , rooms nice size and clean . 3*+ imho on world scale but for the price I'd definitely recommend.

Good Resort

Beautifully kept grounds. As with most resorts the alcohol seems weaker and you have to specifically request "strong" as in alcohol content. You must put a bracelet on upon check in. Clean rooms - a little too cold. Great variety at the buffet dining room.
