Top notch family resort

When we first arrived we found the complex to be quite daunting in size, but after a short walk to the furthest building we realized it was perfect. The complex is divided into 6 buildings with rooms. They are all 3-4 stories and only one or two of them have elevator access. The Rooms are nice and simple but the wall are very very thin and your neighbors will be able to hear your every move and conversation. There are many many places to get food and there is quite a surprising variety to choose from depending which restaurant or buffet you choose. The quality of the food depends on where and when you get it and varies from dish to dish, but overall the food was great. The activities and animation team did a great job of entertaining the guests the entire week and the activities are clearly posted on a board to let you plan your day accordingly. There are great tennis facilities, bike rentals, kayak rentals all free of charge. Five pools scattered about the complex for easy access. A nice spa in the back corner but we did not use their services. Beautifully landscaped walking paths from building to building and the beach area. A beautiful complex. Late night disco with pool tables and every night around 9 there is entertainment at the theatre. The shows are put on very well and is great for families with slightly older children. The town of Bucerias is just a short walk away and many bars cater to the needs of every North-American sports enthusiasts. The staff is extremely friendly and the people of Mexico were kind and welcoming. I would definitely go back. Just be prepared to do a bit of walking around.

Staff excellent and complex wonderful

I have been there four times and each and every time was better than the last I have taken people thete and recommended to everyone The staff go out of their way to make sure you are well looked after Frendly clean and always happy to mske sure you have a great experience Lots of pools and restaurants

Great time with my sons.

It was our first trip South together. We had a wonderful time for a great price. Resort is not super fancy but all our needs were met. Could always find something to eat on the buffet... fresh pizza oven was awesome. Ala Cartes were decent but could improve on the reservation system (waiting in line in the early morning hours). My boys enjoyed the disco which was busy every night! Would definitely go back again.

Great Value

Pro's- awesome beach, the buffet and a la cartes were great, service was excellent Con's- no room service or food available between 5&6pm or after 1am, no in-room mini fridge or shower amenities, use keys instead of cards so if you lose your room key you have to pay $40US to get locks changed and another key All in all, you get what you pay for. We got a great deal and had a great time! We stayed the last two nights at a different resort because Decameron was over booked, but we offered to do so [... read more] and it was nice to have a change, like 2 vacations in 1! The new hotel (a 4 star apparently) had the amenities and services Decameron didn't (24 hour room service) but the service at Decameron was much better!! The ocean and beach area for swimming, and the A/C in the room at Decameron were missed a great deal when we were at the other hotel. So turns out the amenities we thought we missed, wouldn't have been worth the extra few hundred dollars had we booked somewhere else. I would return to Decameron

Great stay

I loved the grounds and the staff were amazing!!! The room was dated and in need of a overhaul but I really wasn't there to spend time in the room. When I was in the room however, ceiling fan squeaked so badly we had to turn it off the A/C barely cooled the room, I didn't sleep with covers the whole week which worked out ok so I could pad the rock hard bed with the duvet that was supposed to be my blanket. The food was plentiful and varied, they had several different dining locations all within  [... read more]a few minutes walk each having different special stations with people preparing things as you ordered ie. Omelette station for breakfast or an oven toasted deli sandwich station at lunch etc. They have great reservation only restaurant locations for dinner only which we could only get a reservation on one night since they start taking reservations at 8 am in person and get booked out within minutes. So if you're not a keener, good luck!

September at the Royal Decameron

This was the second visit to this resort. I would go again if the price was right. Last time the shows were finominal and the kids club group were great! This time the shows were mediocre and the kids club staff didn't engag the older kids. The food was ok but not much selection. The wait staff were great and the beds were comfortable.

Absolutely wonderful

The Royal Decameron in Mexio is very clean, safe and truly a deal for your money. Several restaurants to choose from, always a chair on the beach and wonderful nightly entertainment. My wife and I will surely return!

Met our needs

We were a family- grandparents, daughter-in-law and 12, 7 &3 yr. olds. We found the food very good and good variety. The Italian restaurant exceptional. Lots of pools, good beach & lots of vacationing Mexicans. Accommodated us with adjoining rooms. Saw baby turtles hatching on beach. Very hot and humid in July/August. Mexican festival very well done one night. Beach vendors charging ridiculous high prices. Nolitour lady was exceptional.

Clean

Was overbooked when we got there Feb 19, 2014. They gave us 1000 pecos to spend a night in another hotel and shuttled us there and back. The only reason we went is because there was little kids that would have had to go. We stayed at a stinky suite that was a time share in Puerto Vallarta. We were told that we should be back by noon and a room would be available, it wasn't. We had to wait until 3:00. Wasted our 1st day completely. Will never be persuated again.

Great choice

Clean hotel with friendly staff. I was able to eat fully paleo with multiple choices. I did go with my husband in 2013 and liked it enough to take my elderly mother this year. We requested and received a quiet room and she loved her stay.

Had Better

first night room was infested with bugs, requested a move immediately, but was told nothing available. I think nothing in the same price range. Night 3 (2 full days later) they moved me to second floor, next to the night bar,. !Night 4 had fans hollering about the winter Olympics games. survived the music and noise, as they played more country easy rock music till 3 am. Night 5 to Night 15 the bar was shut down and they had repairmen working from 7 am till 6 pm banging, sawing, etc. The bugs wer [... read more]e terrible coming off the thatch material, new and old both contained lots of bugs. Not quiet restful as hoped. Been to 'exico 7 times, this was first time I couldn't go in the ocean. People getting bit every few hours by sting rays and jelly fish. confined to the pool, was,t worth the risk for me. food was ok, they were strict with e booking policy for the ala carts, but they were half empty with no shows. It would be much better to have a line up outside the restaurant and take your chances. got food poisoning from one ala cart and sick 2 days. another girls camera was stolen from the counter as she was drying her hands. I think lots of people keep going back, and maybe 8 need to give them another chance, but not my first choice. I am allergic to smoke, and smokers everywhere, need a non smokers pool. FEB 2014.

Friendly resort

Great resort with many repeat customers. Great location with easy access to quaint town (20 minute walk) and access to local bus service for travel either north of the resort, or south to Malecon/Puerto Vallarta. Several pools to choose from. Nice selection of restaurants. Numerous dining options also available off resort.

Fantastic resort

I loved my stay at the royal decameron resort! I was so amazed at how there was access to all the amenities of the resort. For example pool chairs, tables at dinner,wi fi at the lobby bar. The food was great with lots of variety sure to please every palate. The staff were always friendly and wanting to please. The overall feeling from the vacationers at the resort was friendly and relaxed. I can't wait to return!

Don't go there

The food selection was limited and very plain, the boozes was the cheapest brands made and the service was poor, they checked us into the wrong type of room, which had not even been cleaned yet, we will not be back there

Great service

very good service, clean ,good beach and great food. the adult only pool is such a great idea.internet service could be improved somewhat. but overall a great resort and we will definetly return someday.

Another Fantastic Stay

This was our 6th time at the Royal Decameron Puerto Vallarta. The beach is beautiful and you can walk for miles, including to the little village of Bucerias. The grounds are well kept and the staff work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are pretty basic but very clean. Each room has its own private balcony. The food was great. Excellente !

we returned for our fourth visit this may and enjoyed it as always. many of the staff have become familiar and always welcome us back, "welcome to your second home ! ". the very clean, if spartan, rooms are comfortable. we request the 'block' closest to the adult pool. the variety of fresh fruits and other food is definitely a draw. kms of clean, safe beach to walk. lots of activities to keep you as busy as you want, or multiple pools to lounge around. the grounds are kept well too. nice mix of  [... read more]mainly mexican & canadian guests. you are well taken care of, picked up from airport & dropped off (nolitours). this all-inclusive is a "no-brainer", i don't think you can find a better deal and such genuinely friendly staff. gracias !

Welcoming, comfortable, fun resort

We love the Royal Decameron. The grounds are beautifully groomed. The beach is fabulous - you can walk for miles and miles and play in the waves. The resort staff are beyond friendly and helpful. The restaurants are clean with great service and good food with lots of choices. The entertainment is like none other that we have seen in our travels in Mexico. 2nd to none, it feels as though you are at broadway anytime they put on a show. We also love that we can walk out of the resort into the cobbl [... read more]estone streets of Bucerias. The local bus route is a short walk up the hill and can take you into Puerto Vallarta. We have been there two times and are planning on more!! The hotel itself is older and doesn't offer fridges in the room and the safety boxes are an additional charge. The first time we went we were not 100% satisfied with the location of the room and RDC staff was very willing to change it for us.

Clean Resort, Great Staff

This resort while in need of an upgrade was very clean and comfortable, a la carte restaurants were very good. Walking distance from Bucerias and shopping. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very large Adult pool.
