Great

The food was great needed a bit of spices. The grounds and pool where clean. Had a good time at the beach and the water was super clear.my favourate restaurant was the Japanese. Loved the pinacolada and rum by the snack bar.

Amazing Resort!

I had an amazing time at this resort, everyone was very inviting and fun! the food was not my favorite but the rooms were great, they accommodate you with whatever you need and ask for. my room was always clean, we had very trusting and lovely maids. it's just an all around great place to be, relaxing and at the same time so much fun all of the time.

Good resort.

Trip over all was good. Beach and pool area were great. The only down fall was the food. Most foods did not have much taste. And most staff was ok. I used hotel phone to call back home and when I was done I payed the lady. As I was leaving to come back home they told me I never payed my phone bill so I payed twice. Make sure you get something in writing after paying for something.

Not as it seemed

the rooms were nothing like they portrayed on the website. They were tolerable but not my first choice for a getaway vacation with my husband ( we only had single beds). The food was not good. It was extremely disappointing to have so little choice in the good tasting food considering i have been to other resorts in Cuba. They offer a wide variety of A La Carte restaurants but they were not available for reservations. You do not get the choice of restaurant, the resort chooses for you. the pools [... read more] were nice and the grounds were beautiful. Most servers were friendly, some more than others.

Beautiful family resort!

Many reviews I had read before I left for my trip in September 2014 had me with low expectations. People say the resort it too big and lots of walking, but there are carts to drive you around constantly running. I was amazed at how beautiful the landscaping was! If you are a coffee drinker, skip the coffee at the buffet and get your yummy frothy one at the lobby, in fact I would get that first then head to the buffet with it. Rooms were nice, spacious and always clean. Beach is stunning, the water is so clear and breathtaking. I went with some adult friends and left my 4 kids for the week and couldn't stop thinking about how amazing it would be to bring them there. The entertainment staff, and kids programs look really great for them and I would bring my kids there for sure! I contemplated whether to get the diamond club or not, and chose not to. The only thing I saw worth it was having an air conditioned room at the buffet. Other than that, with tips to the people you can pretty much get what you need! One thing I regret not doing is bringing toys and clothes for kids to give away, many people bring toiletries for the workers to leave, but as many have families, they would appreciate it so much! The shows at night are amazing! Must see- Michael Jackson night and the water ballet! Bring your tumblers or mason jars for drinks so you're not going back every 5 mins with tiny cups. Also no spills in the pool lol.. Pools are beautiful and clean! Someone mentioned in a review that they were filthy, well I never saw cleaner pools consdering the amount of people in them! Pool with the slide is the party pool, and loud, so if you want something quieter, head to the one close to the lobby. It was a great place overall and would recommend it for sure!

Great Resort!

It was a nice big and beautiful resort very family oriented. Staff are very nice and always willing to help out. The entertainment was great during the day and at nighttime. Our stay there was everything we wanted to. Food was good the a la carte restaurants were really good specially the Criollo which is were they served Cuban typical food. Overall it was a very pleasant experience

Fifth time in row at this resort

This was our fifth annual September visit to Memories, what we have found is managers seem to come and go. As do other staff throughout the resort. Last September we found a big difference in the quality of food and selection than from the previous year. The food manager had just arrived from Dominican Republic 3 weeks earlier. This September that food manager was gone and another food manager from Spain was in his place. For some reason the food was not at the same level. It is obvious that foo [... read more]d managers have a large impact of food quality, type and selection. This is not to say we did not enjoy the food and the resort since it was our fifth visit. What it says is that from year to year the consistency varies. We have spoken to many frequent visitors to Cuba who have tried most 4 and 5 star resorts in Varadero, They all say the food is the same at all resorts with no resort standing out. We like this resort because of it's size, the amount of walking needed which helps to burn off the calories of alcohol and food induced and obviously the friendly staff, especially the few still around we have met each of the five years we have visited. Why do we choose September, well the resort is one of the largest if not the largest in Varadero, in September the kids are back at school and the numbers are down considerably. We have heard horrors stories about the resort being full, no towels, long lineups for food etc What I say to those folks don't go at Christmas, March break or major holidays over the winter months. Stay away from those time frames if you want a relaxing enjoyable stay or go to a smaller resort. The a la carte restaurant's have been consistent each year and a pleasant break from the buffet table. The one thing I would like to see and I have mentioned it before in a review is the variety of drink options at the two swim up pool bars be increased, not everyone drinks beer and rum. Should there be a bottle of wine or a bottle of something that is in quantity at the other bars it disappears very quickly so that should tell the resort something. All in all our fifth visit was as enjoyable as the last. We are now looking forward to next September and our annual trek to Memories.

One of my favourite vacations!!!

I really loved my time at Memories resort! It definitely exceeded my expectations. The grounds are beautifully kept, there's lots of space at the pool areas and the grotto pool bar was fantastic!! (Onight the bartender in the grotto was the best bartender ever, super friendly and always made the best drinks). This resort is massive so be prepared to walk. The beach is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The resort is at the end of the strip in Varadero so it's a bit pricy to go [... read more] into town every night to enjoy the night life. The good news is that the night life at this resort is awesome, since they have live music and dancing every night! They also have a disco that's pretty busy. I will be going back to Memories for sure.

Great place for the money!!!

My wife, daughter and her friend visited this resort september 3 to 10 this year. We got our trip at an amazing price. The only real complaint we had was the food. We've been to Cuba 3 times so we knew not to have high expectations for the food, but to be quite honest the food was awful. The main diningroom is an open area and we found the flies were overwhelming. I actually saw a bird tasting someones food when they turned their back. Now on to the positive. The staff were awesome!!! Well worth the extra money. Leo , Yeni and staff are also amazing!! Leo could be found everywhere on the resort making sure that no one needed a thing. They seemed to go out of their way to make sure everyones trip was good. The bartenders on the diamond club beach were also great. Thanks ladies!! We stayed in room 2415 and 2405. We found this location pretty much central. This is a big resort, so we were pretty much happy with the location. Our room was big and always clean. Thanks to our housekeeper Eeleen. We plan on returning here next year. Hope though the food does improve though. Maybe screening in dining area would take care of the bird and fly problem. All in all good resort. Great trip!!!

Great Resort - A must visit for all!

Good food, Rooms well kept and cleaned daily. Beach and pools area were amazing with in-pool bar and 7/24 snacks. Wonderful and helpful workers work at this resort. Most of them speak English along with their Spanish. We really enjoyed our time at Memories Varadero. Will visit again soon.

“For the price, it was worth it”

everything was nice but the rooms were needed to be renovated. we enjoyed everything else entertainment, pool, beach etc. Beach was spectacular. Favorite part.Two pools. Pool 1 was the quiet pool. Pool 2 was rye activity pool with a great water slide for the kids. Entertainment was top notch. Very professional. Grounds were nice. Upgrade to the Diamond club. You will receive premium alcohol, special area on the beach with drink service, air conditioned section in the main buffet, restaurants boo [... read more]ked for us and even more. Leo is a great asset to the Diamond club. Always there to speak to you and see how everything was going. The staff are amazing people especially the ladies in the main buffet. Always smiling. Extremely appreciative. Overall we had a very nice time. I would rate this resort as a 3.5 star only because of the rooms. Great potential.

Awesome trip

This is my 3rd time to go to memories Varadero. It is my favorite resort. Good service, clean & very cozy. Food was good. Entertainment was so good. Never a dull moment!. LOTS OF FUN!!!!. I will definitely recommend it to my family & friends.

Garbage. Wouldn't go back for free (seriously)

...I don't know where to start. I'll get one thing out of the way: beach was beautiful. It is varadero after all. Everything else was awful. The food was garbage, unless you enjoy eating cheap ham sandwiches and hamburgers for a week. Our room key stopped working 10 times in a week. That's a 40 minute walk to the lobby and back to get it fixed. We stayed ONE WEEK. TEN TIMES!!!! You gotta fight the staff to get a bottle of water. You get a bar of soap when you check it, no matter of many you are [... read more]. After that, though luck! Beds were picked up from a junkyard. If you are 3 in a room, the third person gets an "extra" bed and might as well sleep on the floor (which I actually did one night). Fought the staff the whole week to get it fixed. Wasn't fixed. The staff doesn't care by the way. They reaaaaally couldn't give less of a erhm about your problems. They don't speak english very well anyways. The way the resort is made makes it that you either have to walk 20 minutes from your room to get to the beach or to get to the buffet, one way. Forget about the trolley it passes once in a lifetime. Shower is very unsafe, especially for old people and kids. Very slippery. They messed up our check out time. When you check out, you don't get a courtesy room for the rest of the day. There are no showers available to you (they will tell you there is, and send you to the spa, where NO SHOWERS WORK. Not a single one. They are all broken in the men's room at least). If you stay in the resort for a while waiting for your flight, especially if you hit the beach on the day of your flight, you're gonna go back home sticky of salt water and sweat. Trust me that's what torture feels like. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of stuff, it's been a few months now. I honestly wouldn't recommend going there if you get free tickets. I know I might seem like I'm exagerating, but this is a feeling that was shared with everyone I met there. I do not know how it got a SINGLE good review. I don't know how TripAdvisor works, but I suspect there might have been some fake accounts.

Cuba Surprise

The resort is very large, lots of walking or trolley if you can get one. The grounds were very well maintain. Room were large, clean, satisfactory Breakfast buffet was very plentiful, if you could find something to eat you are very fussy. Lots of fresh fruit, several made to order grills for eggs, pancakes, etc. The snack bar by the pool had burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and the fries were very good and lots of them for light lunch Supper buffet was very satisfactory, beside the usual hot pots t [... read more]hey were cooking fresh grill fish filets, shrimp, calmari, kabobs and always roast chicken. The fresh grilled food was very good, satisfied my cravings. The live Entertainment at the mid courtyard in the evening was very enjoyable. Take the double decker bus to Varadero, it was worth the $5 all day cost. Try the Lobster House in town for a steak/lobster tail, take Canadian at par.

customer service was not good , tv was not working good and it was world cup baby , horrible tv experience , food was like in every resort I hear in cuba , since it was my first time in cuba bad , I ate to survive but food has no flavor mainly , you still can find couple things in the buffet restaurant .I had bad experience in the order from menu restaurant , long wait and you will eat something different from buffet , to my amazement they served same food that you can eat in the buffet , that w [... read more]as a kill , iam talking about Japanese , and Cuban and etc. restaurant . I have to say one good thing about the resort that is the beach was great , dint jump in the pools since I didn't like them, water to the waist comparing to other resorts where they have Olympic size pools.

Great Resort

Wonderful holiday, resort is big but we like to walk (there are carts that go around) Food was great, entertainment was SUPER, staff was great, we had lots of fun. Easy to grab a bus to go into Varadero, we'd recommend this resort

First time in Cuba & lost my phone.

Went to Night Club in the city on first night,someone pickpocket my HTC One, my suggestion if you Wana travel there buy $ store items so if you loose it you don't need to worry about it, Resort lot to do down there, Michael Jackson night is the best. Plenty of foods to eat, must take the beer jug with you coz there beer cups are only two sips & then will will be waiting in line to get another one, lots of activities around the main pool, if you like do party then you should stay near the city, M [... read more]emories is little bit far, but you can buy ticket for bus for $5 which is vailid for all day, bus will get to city around 35 mins, this is a big resort, lot to do, people are friendly, Will travel again but without my cellphone.

The best place ever for a family vacation

The hotel was neat and the most friendly staff in the world . The check inn was a bit long understandably due to the group checkinn. The two pools were awesome and ton loads of activities for kids daily in the noon and in the evening also. Do not miss the fresh coconut given for a tip by the employees. The food was lot better then I expected.

well, everything was excellent only one bad experience my wife lost our camera we reported but she said it was Sony but it was Panasonic.LUMIX DMC 2520. well yes I already recommended to my cousin Gilberto and he wants to go Aug. 21 to 28 if you can help with that would be appreciate.
