Paradise

Thank you Cuba and the amazing staff at Memories Caribe at Cayo Coco. The only condition we hoped for was blue seas, palm trees, white sand beaches, some sun and a cool drink. Everyone at the resort went out of their way to make our stay close to perfect. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone as long as they keep an open mind and remember this is the tropics and we are here to try and experience other cultures. 1st time to cuba

Caribe cayo coco is a beautiful area! the beach, grounds, pools and rooms are kept very clean. The staff are very friendly. Being my first time to Cuba I was very nervous about safety. This resort is very safe and you can easily leave the things that you take to the beach and pool on your chair and nothing gets taken. If you have trouble finding a beach chair there is always someone there to help get you one. There was some issues with public bathrooms not being stocked with toilet paper or n [... read more]ot all public washrooms working. My advise is to pack tp and Kleenex and carry some with you at all times.

A great experience

Had a great time. Staff was wonderful, location was beautiful. I enjoyed the food. Beach is lovely, pool was clean. The only issue I had was tissue. For a couple of days there was not toilet paper in some of the washrooms. So bring a roll. We did not have a renovated room but everything worked well and was located so closed to everything. Also a very short bus ride to the airport A good bang for your buck.

Expectations Exceeded!

This was our first trip to Cuba and we were skeptical after hearing all sorts of horror stories. However, we were blown away! The beach was phenomenal. The water was clear, warm, and we could walk for hours between sand bars at low tide. We even did some snorkeling! Check in and check out was fast, simple, and hassle-free. We had a late flight and were able to use the courtesy suite to clean up prior to flying. The room was in good order, whereas a previous resort experience was filthy. Nice c [... read more]hange! The snack bar was 24-hour, so whether we wanted a cappuccino, mojito, or cheese burger, it was available. Great option for those from different time zones or with very early/late flights. The food may not have been Michelin 5-star, however we never had any issues finding good tasting, fresh food. The desserts were beyond amazing. The creativity, the pastries, the flavor! I'm still craving the pizza from the beach snack bar. The serving staff never let a dirty dish sit on the table and refilled drink glasses almost before you realized they were empty. The decor of the rooms was dated, however they were cleaned every day and a fresh bottle of water provided. Our mini-bar was not stocked, however we did not pay for a mini-bar package, so we didn't expect anything to be there! The efforts of the landscaping crew was quite something. Not only were room blocks being renovated, but the gardens were being refreshed and new plants put in as well. Even while working, the staff would make a point of greeting any guests that walked by. I would happily recommend this resort to others going to Cuba :) Say hi to Roberto the flamingo when you arrive!

Great resort, Beautiful beach, excellent entertainment

This resort was very well run, with near constant availability of entertainment and a beautiful beach. The food was also good for Cuba. Worthwhile to get Diamond Club, and a second floor balcony room. The resort was busy, and ran out of a few things several times (beach towels, beer, tennis rackets, beach chairs) and so I would suggest that the best experience would be in off-peak times. The a la carte restaurants were generally only OK, the only one worthwhile being the Cuban restaurant. However, the made-to-order stations at the buffet were excellent.

Exemplary Service

11 day stay with 8 people. The service was phenomenal; service staff tried to accommodate at every opportunity. Pros: beach was great, lots of chairs with staff to assist, bar on beach, wait staff, pizza bar, low tide you could walk to next Memories resort, majority of food was very good. Entertainment was good, daytime activities were low key, you could participate if you wished but were not harassed to do so, which we appreciated. Night shows were a good variety of resort staff and professio [... read more]nals troops. Beach towels were in rooms upon check in and safes were electronic and included. Cons: BUGS! Some of our 8 were eaten alive while others may have received a few bites.Buffet food not always hot (but good quality), to alleviate cold food you could get fresh cooked meat, fish pasta and stir-fry that were very hot and fresh. Ourselves and one other couple did not have hot water (lukewarm) but in resort's defence they tried to fix problem and offered to change our rooms which we declined. Friends all had hot water with good water pressure; we lived with warm water so we wouldn't have to pack up belongings again. Pool was little cool but manageable; near end of stay the walls were getting a bit green with sludge. Overall our stay was a pleasure with some of the best staff we've encountered in our travels. TIPS: Bring your bug spray.

Great Resort in Cuba

Very nice resort in Cayo Coco Cuba. Resort is very nice ,clean and very well kept. Staff very friendly and inviting. Day staff get you involved in activities or let you rest in the sun by the pool or beach.This is our second visit to this resort and would recommend it.

Wonderful two weeks at Memories Caribe Beach Resort

The resort is very well run - the staff are so friendly and upbeat - Dahomey, Lucinda, Yania, Yulour, Maravis, Yoemi, Wendy, Jessica, Ludia, Hiram, and of course our chambermaid Restysohe, made our stay wonderful. Beach was wonderful, pool was beautiful, and the grounds are very well kept. The food was average Cuban, you won't go hungry, surprised at all the cheese but really missed the Shrimp we had at every meal in Camaquay. Only negative was the bugs. Bring lots of bug spray and make s [... read more]ure you spray it over and over. I forgot one night. :( Over 100 bug bites later, we had to get cups of gin to swab the many bites. `10 days later they are still itchy. Take Bendryl as well. We are still talking about returning again next year - was a restful two weeks.

Memories caribe the place to be

This hotel was amazing I loved the staff everyone was so accommidating this was our 5 th trip to memories caribe and we very much hope to return again next year. Our rooms were clean the resort was very well kept and the activity staff are always willing to keep you on your feet I really can t say enough about it . Thank you for a wonderful stay and the memories ❤️

Good time!!

I THOUGHT THE BEACH WAS WONDERFUL, THE GROUNDS ARE BEAUTIFUL AND THE HOTEL ROOM WAS NICE, THE STAFF IS AWESOME!! THE FOOD WAS NOT GOOD AND COULDN'T GET ON BUS TO TRAVEL TO MARKET BECAUSE WE WEREN'T PICKED UP FIRST. WHICH WAS ANNOYING THEY SHOULD SWITCH WHO THEY PICK UP SO WE GET A CHANCE.

Amazing experience!

Memories Caribe is a beautiful tropical paradise. The pristine grounds are tended lovingly by dedicated and knowledgeable keepers who are working on improving the already beautiful landscaping. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable. The food and drinks are well prepared by friendly and accommodating people. Everything you want or need is arranged for by the well-organized desk staff, most of whom speak English as well or better than most Canadians. All in all, we had a wo [... read more]nderful time.

Pretty beach but I'd go elsewhere...

I spent a week in early January at the Memories Caribe Beach Resort with a friend – my second trip to Cuba. The good included the rooms, the pools and the pizza in the snack restaurant near the pool (plus the pasta bar in the buffet). The beach was beautiful but had biting bugs that Off didn’t seem to repel – we ended up not going there much after the first couple days to avoid getting bitten. The bad included in general the food (the a la carte restaurants are NOT worth reserving), and [... read more] the day outing we went on (we had a really bad experience at the dolphin swim; the promised luxury buffet was basic and lousy, and several other things were not as promised). Too, Cuba has a reputation for having real nice people and we ran into several outright rude people working at the resort and for the Sunwing tour. Finally, the return trip was badly organized – little indication as to the bus to get onto go to the airport, what line to stand in, paying for upgrades seats (credit cards not accepted), etc. Bottom line: we are two younger women and I enjoyed more my last trip to the Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca – better varied food and a better atmosphere for us, despite being lower rated and cheaper. And, if we can afford it, in the future we’ll opt for Mexico instead…

Wonderful resort

This resort was beautiful. This was everything that we wanted for our 10th anniversary trip. The grounds were beautiful, the staff attentive, the rooms clean. The nightly entertainment was amazing, as well as the daytime entertainment. The beach was great, sand fleas were a bother but we have them on beaches in Nova Scotia, not a deal breaker, great pool area. The only downside of the rooms was no door on the bathroom.

Awesome!!!!!!

Our experience with Memories Caribe Beach Resort was most enjoyable. The food , the grounds, the beach and most surprisingly the nightly Entertainment was A-1. Not happy!!!!

Very disappointed, paid for lake view rooms and they were in renovation,agent told us the only thing that is in renovation is the spa. Well that was a lie. Not happy,would rather spend our money on a better resort!!!!! Don't recommend.

Beautiful resort

Hotel grounds were nice and constantly maintained. Beaches and water were stunning. Rooms were clean and always had hot water. Staff were friendly and service was good every where. Food was bad even at the ala carte restaurants. The Italian restaurant and the largest bar were both closed for renovations.

Really nice resort for the money

My husband and I just got back from the Memories caribe. It was an awesome time. They are in the process of upgrading all the rooms and public bathrooms. We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms which was a plus. For Cuba the food was really good. The beach was amazing with all white sand. The overall experience was very good and being in an adult only resort was very pleasent.

Memories Caribe Cayo Coco Travelled with Sunwing from Toronto for 10 days from December 30, 2016 to January 9th, 2017 Pros - 30 minutes from the airport - no young children - fast check in at reception - got the renovated room that we requested - beautiful grounds - beautiful beach - lots of beach chairs and shade - excellent beach drink service (Yaxel was amazing!) - big pool with lots of chairs - good pizza at the beach - free safe in the room - nice flat screen tv in renov [... read more]ated room - rooms are clean - drinking water, toilet paper and towels replenished - buffet was good but the same every day - Cuban and Asian restaurants were decent - updated air conditioners in most rooms - service in buffet was good - service in piano bar was good Cons - renovated rooms have no patio furniture (told it had not arrived yet) - no bathroom doors (poor design) - no coffee makers in renovated rooms and not available when requested - no hot water on several days - no water at all on some days - lost hydro on several occasions - too many renovations going on - large beach restaurant closed and being used for storage - disco closed - spa closed - lookout tower closed - pool bar and large pool snack bar were closed for half the vacation - not enough public washrooms as several were closed for renovations - dirty and old - ran out of certain alcohol at the beach but it was available if you were Diamond club - due to ongoing problems in our renovated room we were moved to one of the duplex bungalows which was much better but it is always a hassle to have to move Summary This resort will probably be good once all the renovations are complete however, in the meantime, it feels like you are not getting the vacation that you are being sold or are expecting to receive. If you got an amazing price, and know in advance what to expect, then you should be okay with the resort.

Dated, not a 4 star

Me and my had a fantastic time together without the kids but felt cheated with what we paid to go there and what we got. The hotel is under renovation which is fine We got an older room. The washroom was full of mold and tiny bugs on countertop. They always forget to bring toilet paper The food is the same everyday. We ate from the grill but still the same for lunch and dinner. Beach is nice We were able to change beach towel only once and on the last day. Public washrooms by the beach, pool and restaurants were closed most of the time and if opened were filthy Pool is nice but we never swam in it. Swimup bar was closed. The drinks were made with cheap alcohol Spa is non-existent. They have tennis court and basketball court without basketball rim and net. The ground of the resort is beautiful

Under renovations

We've been to this hotel previously. This time the hotel was under major renovations, which we were not aware of until after we booked. We called Sunwing and the rep denied that there were any renovations going on during this time. The hotel needed upgrades, so I am sure after the renovations it should look great. However, the lack of toilet paper in the bathrooms made it annoying at times. It would be nice if hotel management would do a checklist thru out the day to maintain the restrooms. [... read more] The service was great the the staff is very friendly. We were there for Christmas, they tried to put on a good spread, but you do not go to Cuba for the food. The entertainment staff seems to do the bare minimum. Although we paid a higher price during this time of year, we were very disappointed with the value. We also lost a day of sun due to the flight schedule. We arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning. Normally is should have been a later flight on the return.
