Pleasantly surprised!

Wow is all I can say about this resort. This was my fourth time in Cuba and I have to say I was happy I chose this resort. It was clean, comfortable, the food was good and the service above average. I found all the service people to be warm and friendly, especially at the beach. Speaking of the beach, wow! Soft sand and turquoise blue water. I would return to this resort in a second!

Wonderful resort

The hotel is really lovely... grounds are well kept, the staff are very accommodating and friendly and the rooms are extremely clean. I would also like to mention how helpful the SunWing rep was... Jorge Mario went out of his way to assist us - as well as the hotel rep named Yoenia - We would highly recommend this resort

Great value

Beach was great with some coral for snorkeling. Room was clean. staff was friendly and helpful. Short trip from airport to resort.no problem getting beach chairs or towels. Three a la cartes to choose from. Preferred the Cuban a la carte lots of choice at buffet. Enjoyed yoga and aqua aerobics in the ocean with Joe also available in pool. Did not use gym or tennis courts but looked to be in great shape. Nightly entertainment some better than others. Dancing was great! Well Worth It

We were looking for a quiet week of reading on the beach or poolside, and the Pestana was a great place to do just that. The staff was terrific -no exceptions - and the food was very good. The rooms were quite clean and comfortable, although they do not stock the mini-bar. Loved our getaway at the Pestana.

It was nice

We arrived at 11am, the room was not ready until 2pm. Lobby bar area was small and nothing to it...bar was in a closed off area and it didn't make it look as nice. The staff was always friendly and would smile if you tipped them, or there wasn't really any smile. Pool was smaller then I been use to, and if you don't get a towel on it quick you don't really get a spot. They only cook once a week by the pool which is silly as the station is there all week. Stations offered pasta option grilled meats and fish..and the buffet counters had two sections were the same on ea section, sweet area was small and always the same too. The snack bar, another disappointment options were one page maybe 6 items to choose hotdogs, hamburger and pizza ( pizza closes at 5pm) and three types of sandwiches. Again last place I stayed Holguin Playa costa verde had a 5 pg menu option at snack bar. A la carte nothing fantastic, Portuguese, Cuban and Italian, stuck to buffet better options. Beach area was nice bar always had drinks they came around beach every once in a while to get your drink order which was nice. they only had volley ball at the beach as an activity once a day in the morning. Clean resort 95 percent French people at resort, not the friendliest but was fine. Overall friendly staff, clean rooms, and resort, not sure I would rate it a 4.5 lacked in food options and size. Would we go back, no I would not go back there again....time to try something new besides cuba. Travel date was 18-25 of Jan. 2015. FYI Crystal beer - you have to buy it 1.00 unless they run out of there beer then you get that..they had vodka and other better quality drinks you had to pay for.

Nice resort

The room was nice. The food was alright. Nice activities. A little far from entertainment but it's the location. Nothing to complain really. The service at the buffet was not really fast. We had to pick everything up ourselves.

Beautiful Beach

The Hotel has a perfect layout with a beautiful Lobby, grounds & pool(with swim up bar). The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room decor is very modern and equipped with room safe(included), iron board,hairdryer. The hotel is situated on a beautiful sandy beach-perfect for swimming,snorkelling,kayaking, or lying in the sun(bar/music/grill) located on the beach as well(no bathroom on beach-short walk). Excellent would totally go back!

Resort was clean and staff where very helpful and friendly. The beach was a little rocky but still beautiful. The entertainment was great and the dancers were so amazing to watch. The Bartendars Mandy and Travars in the lobby bar where excellent!

Wonderful experience

Good value, excellent staff, food excellent! great for families. Beaches a little rocky on one end, but nice along the rest. Loved evening entertainment in the lobby and kids mini-disco show was great!

Quit whining! Best beach and sun incredible value

This was my 2nd trip to Cuba and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I came back relaxed and rejuvenated. I've seen a lot of negative reviews, and I want to say quit your whining. Was everything perfect? No. Was there top shelf amenities? No. This is Cuba. Imports are expensive and everything is a little different. If you want a hamburger, expect ham on it. If you want a vacation where nothing is different, stay at home for 3 times as much and temperatures 50 degrees colder. Out of the 11 hotels in Cayo Co [... read more]co, they're all rated within close to half a point of one another. Why pay more for a resort with a rocky beach? The beach at Pestana was the best! Soft white sand, gentle surf. Guests from other resorts kept trying to crash it. The food was always tasty and flavourfull. There were enough choices on the main buffet that you did not have to eat the same thing every night. For those that complained there wasn't enough variety, I say TRY NOT PIGGING OUT AND EATING EVERY FREAKING DISH OFFERED! Or go to the BBQ buffet. Or the Cuban restaruant. Or the Italian one. Or the 24 hour snack bars. Just stop whining. The resort itself was clean and tidy. I had no complaints. The walls are thin, so if you're beside noisy guests, ask to move. There is less to do in Cayo Coco in general. People select this destination to relax so there's not much going on in the resorts during the day. If you want action, go to Veradero. I love Cuba and the Cuban people. I can't wait to go back. Pestana was not just fine, it was a steal for the price!

Good resort

Good layout, small resort so very easy to navigate. Amazing beach! Friendly staff and new amenities. So everything is clean and not run down. Food however is very poor, even for Cuba. No selection at the buffet, although the beach grill had amazing fish which we all opted for every lunch time.

Great Winter Vacation

We traveled as a family of 6 (parents in mid-30s, kids 2 and 5, grandparents in their 60s) between December 18th and 25th. We loved how new the resort feels. It was built only a couple years ago and it feels modern. We opted for a suite with separate living room and bedroom. The bathroom was very large and split into two rooms by a door. One section had double sinks, toilet and large square nicely tiled shower with a large rain showerhead. The other section had a jetted tub and a doorway to a  [... read more]small walk-in closet, which also contained the safe. It was an extra $300 for the week, but well worth it. We slept in the bedroom, 5 year old on cot in living room, 2 year old in crib in the bathroom. Martina at TripCentral requested the cot and crib for us, and it was exactly as requested when we arrived. We were very satisfied with the daily cleaning service. The pool was great, with one side having a 0 depth entry, which was great for the kids. The other section of the pool had a swim-up bar, which we and our 5 year old loved. The water in the pool was a little chilly on the first day, but warmed up as the weather warmed up over our stay. The beach right in front of the resort is wonderful. The sand is very fine and there are some sandbars to swim out to. The kids loved it. There is also a small patch of coral right in front of the resort that snorklers enjoyed. We managed to find a shady spot every day. The loungers were new and very comfortable. If you walk to the left, the beach gets rocky fairly quickly. This is the beach in front of the Memories Flamenco, and that beach is horrible. Walking to the right the beach slowly changes to more coral rock washing up on the beach. You can still walk along the beach without problems for miles. There is a bar right on the beach, and a small beach grill, which served tasty fresh fried fish, rice and vegetables, burgers, etc. On occasion they made fresh fish snacks with veggies and a slice of lemon served in a plastic cup with a fork. They carried them down the beach and handed out to anyone who wanted some. They were delicious! The food was good. The main buffet served a variety of food. Everyday I found something great to enjoy. My wife opted for the fresh-made stations, which did have lineups that took 5 to 10 minutes or longer depending on when you showed up and how busy it was. The stations made fresh eggs / omelettes, pancakes / crepes for breakfast. Pastas, fish, kabobs for dinner. We went to the Italian and Portuguese restaurants. The food at the Italian was poor. The Portuguese was great. I really enjoyed the octopus salad, cod and deserts. The main lobby is large, open and a great place to have a drink or coffee. We usually went there for cappuccinos after breakfast (the coffee served in the main buffet is poor). The one disappointment was the kids club. There is a building with a kids club sign on it, and there is a small playground and kids pool that the kids enjoyed, but it stopped there. We never saw anyone there to run organized activities with the kids. We were hoping for some crafts, toys to play with and other activities for kids - never saw any of that. We were lucky in that we had the grandparents there to help entertain the kids and the beach/pool kept them busy, but we were hoping to see more from the Kids Club. There was a mini-disco for the kids every night at 8:30-9pm, which the kids loved. They got to go up on the main theatre stage and were led through actions for a few songs by a member of the entertainment team. Same songs every night, which was not great for the parents, but the kids loved it because they got to learn the moves night after night. Our 5 year old daughter was a pro by the end of the week. Overall we had a wonderful stay. We loved it, the kids loved it, the grandparents loved it. We were really lucky with the weather (1st day was 25C and windy, but the rest of the days got progressively nicer and hotter - about 30C over the second half of our stay). We were sad to leave on our last day. We brought some small toys I picked up cheaply at Walmart and hand-me-down clothes that our kids no longer used and passed some out to hotel workers (don't forget the gardners) - they loved them and were very appreciative - especially of the clothing for kids.

Amazing Resort

I enjoyed staying at Pestana Cayo Coco resort its new resort service is good stuff friendly I will visit again for sure very good very good very good very good very good very good very good very good very good very good very good very good

Disappointing

Apart from its beautiful beach, Pestana left us disappointed. It did not live up to its high ratings. It was very understaffed and that meant problems with hotel cleaniness, towel availability and the food.

Clean, modern resort!

Beautiful resort, great Cuban people employed there! Great for couples or families! Had a great week! Catamaran Excursion was awesome. We will return! Peaceful areas nice but also lots of entertainment if wanted. Lobby area is the hub in the evenings

Simply Fantastic

Stayed from 14-21 of December. Staff was amazing, food was good with lots of variety. The beach was stunning and very clean, raked every day.The resort is new and modern. Nothing negative at all. Will be returning.

Satisfactory

Satisfactory but not a 4 star, food selection very minimal, service not very helpful or accommodating. Beach front not clean and walkway to beach was not functional and very dangerous to walk to beach and beach bar.

Nice

very clean always kept up, nice beach ,over the top on staff and cleanliness, only one toaster for the whole resort very slow, powdered mild no cream for coffee, pasta in buffet had NO flavour, seperate restaurants excellent food rooms great

Amazing resort

My daughter and I stayed at Pestana resort last week of November, and we loved it. Resort was perfect for us, friendly staff, very clean rooms, pool was amazing and oh the beach, soooo beautiful...food was good, no one will ever go hungry there...we made a lot of friends there ,and look forward to returning in spring..
