No toilet paper, no coffee, no hot water, no cola, very limited food. Worst resort ever and would not recommend this resort to anyone unless they are prepared to have very limited things. Staff and pool were good

Resonance Blu Varadero: Fairly big not bad

Just got back. Grounds where kept neat. Lots of open wire along the paths.some part lit up. Need a flash light to see building number at night. Food no eggs just powder eggs.buffet was same every day.bread but no butter. First morning no Coffee. Next 6days coffee but very weak and cold at times . Beer some times.somtimes vodka. No mix for 7 days just some kind of juice. No fancy drinks just rum and juice. No shows. Just disco music for young adults. Cuba day nothing big .real hope things change back to the way they use to be. Grand Memories Varadero: GILLIGANS ISLAND

what I remembered most was the lactation wasat one end of beach(which I knew). Took a $29 USD taxi ride to go to VARADERO. The double decker bus option($5USD) was okay,but took bout 45 minutes to arrive downtownafter all hotel stops. Grounds were in great shape, big resort, lots of action, butreally missed the option of walking out door of resort and downtown across the street. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: A Wonderful Vacation!

Everything is in close proximity at Sanctuary Grand Memories, from the beach to the Pool Bar is less than 2 min walk. We were in Building 57, and our Butler Carlos was outstanding and made our stay relaxed, worry free and as comfortable as possible, he was always around and available to check in and help. The little pizzeria was ideal for a late afternoon snack and our favorite lunch was the poolside or beachside grills. Our favorite a la Carter was Italian. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Be very careful

Although it is a Memories hotel, I can tell you that visiting there on Feb 10th in what was requested being a terrace or ground floor, do to mobility issues, we were given a room on the third floor. The service as we first checked in was not that great for first impressions, and neither was the golf cart that was suppose to pick us up but he never showed up. Would you beleive it that the ones telliing us to come back were now off and a new crew was on the desk. We finally got our room at 6:30. Meanwhile we had not unpacked, and told our maid not to clean the room as we were moving out. Well she came back and took our beacch towels and gave them to someone else. The other room they gave us was infact on the ground floor but, the main entrance door did not lock at all, we only found that out the next morning when my wife went for coffee and tried the door. But the main thing in this room was no water! none, not at all, zero, not in the sink, shower or toilet. I went to the front desk and told them our situation, and that I wanted to check out and go rent a cabana somewhere. That is when they offered to transfer us to Melia Jardines del Rey. Resonance Blu Varadero: Beautiful resort

It is very large and grounds spread out but beautiful. The first couple of days we were confused about the location of everything. Once you get to know your way around its fine, everyone was very friendly. The room was on ground floor and was damp and chemical smell the first night was bad, The floor was dirty the first day but once they came to wash floor we aired it out after a couple days it wasnt as bad and just got used to it. There was work going on everywhere but it wasnt an issue for us, My main complaint was the room was cold and damp. And was a few crawley bugs but after they washed the floor with bleach I didnt see anymore bugs not cockroaches but centipede and soil bugs. For what we paid it was a beautiful resort, We were not sure where the beach entrance was but once you know you know. It would be nice to have a boardwalk to the beach as we got bitten by sand fleas. There were not enough chairs some days at the pools and beach. The new chairs look nice but are very hard and not adjustable. The lobby is beautiful and a great hang out place. Some lights missing bulbs not matching etc. beautiful table in middle missing glass. Would look beautiful with a centerpiece on it. Loved the beautiful blue comfy chairs to wait for golf cart back to room or beach. Couple massage was great. Food was fine not an issue. We had been to Cuba so knew what to expect and had a wonderful time. You can rent the old cars from the lobby and go into Varadera, the Beatles club music was amazing!!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great resort with kind staff

This resort was great, we stayed at the sanctuary side which was 18+ and more quiet. We had access to the entire resort so it was nice to be able to come and go from the sanctuary to the busier family side. One aspect that could’ve used improvement was that there was a lack of communication about daily events, transportation and excursions. I read online there was yoga in the mornings but had no idea how to find the dates or times. We also had room service but had no menu or ways of knowing the  [... read more]services available. The housekeeping was good, but they didn’t come one day that we needed fresh towels, but the rooms are very clean. It was also noted in the sanctuary offers that the mini bar in the room would be restocked but it never was. We left a note asking but it did not happen. We were also told that we could exchange beach towels for fresh ones near the pool, but the hours were not listed anywhere so we never got a chance to catch it while it was opened. Another thing that took us by surprise was the lack of condiments and snacks. I was told before to bring ketchup but didn’t think too much of it… do it. The snack bar had hotdogs and hamburgers but had no sauces so they were just burger and bun. There was also no snacks to buy or offered on the resort, so you could only eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, or go to the snack bar which were more like full meals and had limited items. Also, the resort had extremely limited alcohol options… like only rum. Rum is great, but a glass of wine or a drink with vodka or gin would have been nice. They had rum and sambuca only at most bars, they also had beer but ran out a few times. We also had our safe break with all of our valuable items including money and passports 2 days before we were supposed to leave. Luckily they were able to call a mechanic who fixed/pried it open. And now for the good stuff: The resort was so beautiful and well laid out, with lots of greenery and flowers. The rooms were also very quiet and you got your own balcony. They were also very clean and the housekeepers did a great job when they came. They have a lot of bars on the resort which is a plus and are allowed smoking in the lobby. The pools were fantastic, there are 3, one being on the sanctuary side and 2 others on the family side, the bartenders at the swim-up bars were the best and very friendly. The beach itself was magical with tons of room on the beach to set up chairs provided under umbrellas. The water was crystal clear and very warm. Another pro could be that the drinks are extremely strong, this can be a pro depending on how much you like rum, lol. The people were also the kindest people, very welcoming and webfelt really safe there. We took a bus into Varadero one of the days and it was so beautiful. A double decker bus took us to the vibrant city, full of shops and art. We also went on an excursion which was a catamaran boat ride to a coral reef and then to an island for a few hours. This was definitely the highlight of the trip. The beach was beyond incredible and the buffet when we got off the boat was amazing. Overall, this trip was great! It was my first time in Cuba and I still went there expecting certain shortages, but the ones I pointed out were just what we noticed. In the end, I would definitely return, but I’d bring certain things with me like my own wine and snacks and potentially even condiments just to be safe.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Good but needs work

The bathroom wall had bubbled from moisture and mold, as well as shower knows. Shower headway broken and stains on the sheets. As per the people that work there, they were kind ad the pool and ocean beautiful. Foood was terrible, an smel of b.m (septic?) Hear cafeteria was rough.

Memories Cayo Largo: Gorgeous white sand Beaches/Poor food quality Georgia

This hotel was fine,great beds changed only once a week,clean Bungalow style four per unit, Diamond Club had ocean view but far from things lots of walking. Clean washrooms lots of toilet paper. Very quiet Rock no beach had to take cab or mini train to the beaches 15 - 20 minutes away but sooo worth it FOOD I’d give it a 2 ran out of beer for the first 3 days then no cheese, yogurt,or any dairy all week no fresh eggs only pre mix in a jug… Food at a lacarte was the same food as at the buffet th [... read more]ey had lobster for an extra $20 us BUT seriously have to do something about the food.

Grand Memories Varadero: The Sanctuary was the best!!!

Grand Memories Sanctuary! It was wonderful. We were very fortunate to receive an upgrade to the Sanctuary! A few people who made our time wonderful!!! We are not ones to complain. In fact we've never written a negative review on any of our vacations though I know some deserved it. In this case we feel we have to. We chose Cuba fully aware of the pitfalls. Limited food and shortages in supply. So when we arrived and found no toilette paper in our room or in the public bathrooms anywhere on the resort we accepted that. No problem!! Wine only in a la carte restaurants, no problem. No beer!!!!!! Ok that was a problem but it was only for a short period of time, so just a little problem. We weren't there for the food, even the drink. We were there for the beautiful beach, warm weather, and hopefully a clean comfortable room. The beach was beautiful. The weather was warm though windy at times but no complaints. Our room was dated but clean.................until the flood! Well before the flood there was the backed up plumbing from the shower and toilet. That led to a flood in our room, raw sewage throughout. Luckily we had everything off the floor, and thanks to a staff member who leant me their rubber boots we evacuated without any issues or damage to our belongings. The room we were put in smelled heavily of mold and mildew. Intolerable!!! My wife slept with the bedsheet wrapped around her face. I hardly slept at all. Thank goodness it was our last night. We couldn't wait to get home. We know we were not the only ones experiencing this. There were several units in our building flooded from a leaking pipe from the second floor. As hard as it was for us, I also felt bad for the staff. I could see many were upset, and apologized to us several times. It's not their fault. Who owns these places? I'm pretty sure these have a Canadian ownership connection with the Cuban government. It's a disgrace!!! We will not be returning to Cuba any time soon and will not recommend this destination to any of our friends

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Beach was great

While I understand Cuba is in dire straits and always has shortages of something, this hotel could have done more to be welcoming. Most staff, while not rude, did not go out of their way to even smile at guests. Even paying for upgraded service did little to secure basic needs, like a toilet we didn't have to continually fix. The beach on the other hand cannot be beat!

Memories Trinidad Del Mar: not bad resort

Beach nice. Lots of umbrelas and sits. Water warm and clean. Food good, but always cold specialy pasta and meats. Resort tight , everywhere close. Entertiment very low quality. Staff very low english, but very frendly. Room - first week no cold water, second week no hot water.

Wow people are delusional…this is not a 5 star resort! 2 star at best! Your butler encourages you to give a 5 star review…joke! You get what you pay for! So many shortages to list and the food is well…awful! Stained unwashed sheets and blankets…no beach towels on the daily…etc etc! The beach is 10/10 but good luck finding shade due to the lack of beach chairs and tiki huts! Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great value for awesome beach!

We selected the "Diamond Club" option when planning our trip. For us it offered some privileges but not always. We arrived on the early flight out of Montreal and knew that the room would not be ready until 2 p.m. as stated in the perks of being a member of Diamond Club. That did not happen, people were in the room until after 2 p.m. and the room was only ready near 5 p.m. This meant that we could not book any of our " a la carte" restaurants since we were not officially in the computer system.  [... read more]We had packed our bathing suits, sandals and small towel in our carry on to enjoy the beach and there was no problem for us to eat. We did need to open our suitcases in the lobby to get our sunscreen. I preferred eating in the members only Diamond Club restaurant since it was air conditioned and did not require us to stand in long lines for our meals. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style but a much quieter atmosphere with servers offering drinks including wine. It is about the same food wherever you choose to eat and the beef was delicious! You need to enjoy eating a variety of vegetables and fruits. Salads are available even at breakfast with us choosing a protein such as pork, beef, chicken and fish. We are not fish eaters and for the most part the meats were delicious. Our only comment on the food is that you often have the same choices in the buffet or Diamond club. It is the atmosphere that is different so choose what you prefer. In the main buffet, "Selections" there is a lower buffet counter for children to independently choose their favorites like fries, chicken nuggets, or sandwiches. Ice cream line, spaghetti line are always long. Diamond Club does have a private beach area (there is a 12 " elevation from the tides) there are plenty of chairs and usually you do not have to get up early to go reserve chairs. (unless a group comes in) We were often there at 10 a.m. with plenty of chairs & palapas available. The resort has a beautiful two level pool, with music and activities for children & adults. Our room was in building #2 ground level facing the pool area, diagonal of the 24 hour snack bar/coffee bar. Great location. Building #1 &2 are the best for being near beach, pool and snack bar. The other buildings are on the other side and have paths leading to the beach. The gym only opens at 9 which we would of preferred earlier and is located at the opposite end with the spa and doctor clinic. We did not use any of these services. I forgot to mention that Diamond club has a private bar and snack bar on the beach which is very convenient. Great burgers on the first day and then depending on what they had, it could be chicken, fish, hotdogs. There is another snack bar on the beach offering "tacos" which are delicious but not what we think of tacos. Soft homemade little tortillas filled with grilled veggies. Delicious, a little greasy if you need to be careful but very tasty. Expect a line up when they start cooking these! What can you say about the beach, PERFECT! When you walk right of the private area for Diamond Club there is low flat rock formations to walk over but that did not seem to bother any of the people cause once in the water, it was beautiful. Left of Diamon C. private area is all soft sand, lots of shells to find and you can walk all the way down. Friends travelled with us and were disappointed with their room in poor condition with toilet not working, noisy air conditoner preventing a relaxed sleep but we had no complaints with our room. In Cuba if it is your first time, there are always problems with supplies, mainly toilet paper sometimes drinking water but generally it was always solved with patience. Cayo Coco is NOT near a town or shopping of any significance. So if you need those things, maybe this is not your resort. We needed relaxation, sunshine, beach and drinks and that is what we got!! P.S. Condiments such as peanut butter, jam, vinegar, salt, ketchup, mustard or relish are not available. On occasion they can run out of coffee.
