Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Wonderful and relaxing resort

The hotel is amazingly huge, and has three parts connected. I like this hotel because the workers oin the hotel are friendly. People recognized us because we are Asian, though we are Canadian. We registered to three restaurants, Tequila, Mediterranean and Le gourmet, all had good services. When in the dinner time, the trains(car for inner transportation) were so full, anyway we made it to the restaurant and back to our room. We took almost everyday tours to Chichen Itza, swam in the deepest cenote was a unforgettable experience. We also went to Ek Balan, Tulum, Coba. Unbelievable we didn't see the sunset but we watched a very wonderful show in Coba. I like this hotel very much, i enjoy this trip very much. I of course will recommend to my friends. And I would like to let you know this is a wonderful and enjoyable trip, we really want to tell everybody this is the best hotel you can rely on. I want to say thank you and give a big hug to Ms Cathie Milner of tripcentral, she was so patient and she has done a terrific job to assist us to choose a good hotel and good time to go to Cancun, Mexico. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Paradise!

This resort was everything we imagined and more. Service was always served with a smile. Rooms were always cleaned and fresh on a daily basis. Food was amazing with endless choices. Well done Bahia Resorts for the world class service. P&A.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: A taste of Paradise

The hotel staff grounds and overall running of this resort was outstanding. Food was amazing. Only one suggestion, that the restaurants lobby area improve their cooling techniques with stronger A/C and or large fans. Major problem the snack bar near the pool in the Sian Ka'an needs netting to stop the birds from actually walking on and eating off of the buffet and dive bombing the tables when people leave. Could be a serious health hazard.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Repeat customer

Overall it is a great place. Having been there several times and always been satisfied, this time around we were a little disappointed with a couple of the restaurants. Food was below average and service not at par. We had no problem with the buffet and other restaurants we visited. People were friendly as usual and no complaints with anything else.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Return to the Bahia Akumal

This is my 2nd time back to Akumal in the last year. I do love all aspects of this Bahia resort location - food, service and rooms are excellent. Any minor service failures are remedied quickly. I found on this visit there was a lot of follow up from management regarding service and items were dealt with promptly. Buildings, rooms and grounds are well maintained. A la carte restaurants are excellent. The Dolce Vita was my favourite, and service is exceptional at all of them. The resort  [... read more]was busier this visit, and I was impressed at how hard the bartenders work their magic. It was non stop for them, and they were always pleasant. This resort is further away from the airport, but its beach, food and service is well worth the drive.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Great resort, but not a 5 star

Resort: was beautiful, stunning Food: was great, lots of options Kids resort: lots of options, water park was a plus Beach: horrible. Lots of seaweed. They need to find a solution to this. If you are travelling but don't care about the beach, then you can choose this resort. As much as the resort was amazing, I would not return due to the beach. I'm use to cuba beach, not the same at all. Due to the beach, I rate this resort a 4 star. We travelled the week of July 25/17.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Would not go back to a Bahia Principe resort!

Since this was a potentially last family vacation, I was very disappointed. We had problems everyday. 1. Air conditioner did not work - two days later, we were moved to a new room. 2. Since we had two rooms side by side, this took 3 days to move and we were without our belongings for 2 days 3. We did receive our luggage until 5:00 p.m. on the change day. 4. New room - my son's bedding had BLOOD on the sheets 5. Royal Golden service was not provided unless we reminded them 6. Our new r [... read more]oom had a lovely cockroach in it on the first night. 7. Highway traffic sound was very loud 8. The "a la carte" dinner reservation times were only 6:00 & 10:30 options because they said they were busy. 10:30 with a family is way too late. 9. Transat Rep, Karolina Koala was very rude. Just asked about the Transat baggage strike 10. Resort was way to crowded 11. Had to get up at 5:00 am to reserve a pool chair 12. Pools were crazy hot water 13. Hounded by the Bahia Principe sales people everyday! The only shining moment was the entertainment team at the Coba pool. Manuel was the best. I would don't return to a resort like this again and would avoid Transat.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Fantastic resort!

I would highly recommend this resort. Rooms were huge with a beautiful king size canapy bed, excellent food and friendly staff. Check in was a little slow so be prepared to be patient and ask for a third room key as one room key needs to be used to work the lights and air conditioning. All in all, we were very happy with the resort and would highly recommend it!

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Good resort if your a billy goat

We enjoyed our stay at the Bahia Principe Cayacoa. The food was excellent for the price. We were at the golden area and there are many stairs - 130 from bottom to top. It could be an issue for some if you aren't in shape. We found the beach lovely and always an abundance of chairs available. Our rooms were sufficient. The air conditioning didn't really cool the room to under 77 F. We found it difficult to sleep with the heat. Staff were great and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Overall a generally great resort

When we came for our honeymoon in 2013, it was a nice experience even though we were not terribly excited about the food. However because we enjoyed all other aspects of the hotel and it was a relaxing environment and we were well taken care of we returned, however there were minor things during this trip that were a bit of an irritant. When it came to the room refreshments, we were told by our WestJet agent that we could leave a note everyday if we required more beverages than the provided  [... read more]amount. Because we wanted to drink more water than pop, we left a note every day for an additional supply of water, however our requests were ignored. After a few days we went to the front desk and inquired why our requests were being ignored and we were told that the maximum amount of bottled water allowed for each room was 2 and not more. We thought this was absurd as we had been informed by the WestJet agent that we could request for more. With that being said, we were promised that more water would be brought to our room, however that never happened. Over about 2 or 3 days of our trip we ran out of hot water, even though the water was never really hot but lukewarm the whole time we were there, which was annoying in and of itself. In any case we ran out of the "lukewarm" water and showered with cold water on a couple of days and also ran out of water during one evening. When we ran out of the "lukewarm" water we were told that the whole resort was experiencing this issue. During the last 3 days of our trip the whole resort could not provide us with face cloths and hence had to use hand towels to shower. We were told that something had happened to their washing machines or something to that effect and therefore no one was supplied with face cloths. We were assured that face cloths would be rectified face cloths would be personally delivered to our room, however up until we left the resort this promise was not kept. Although the rooms were cleaned every day, which we appreciated, there were a couple of occasions where the room smelt bad...almost like the mop used was dirty. So there was a musky, dirty smell in our room. We did ask for a room refresh, and either the room refresh was done or the smell went away on its own we will never know. But when we returned to the room it smelt better. On the other occasion when our room smelt funky and dirty, we chose to just ignore as we were already fed up with the little issues that were occurring. The food overall was not the greatest, although we never were hungry. If you are looking for authentically coked Jamaican food, you will not find it at this resort. It was edible but not the most enjoyable every time. I appreciate that the resort has different themed nights for the food (Mexican, Spanish, Italian etc...) however when we come to Jamaica, we are coming for food that is better than what we cook at home. So I was not entirely impressed with the quality of the food.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Not What I rememver

The resort was okay but I went a few years ago and was much more impressed back then. The food wasn't as good. It was too hot in the restaurants so no refuge from the heat. We didn't get towels in our room for two straight days and when we called several times for them we waited one hour the first day and the second day after two hours and many phone calls we went down to the lobby to get them ourselves.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Beautiful resort, but way to many kids

July 16-26/2017 When we arrived we were put in a villa way out by the Dolphin pool. It was a long walk to everything. We asked for a room change since we were repeat customers, then put in Villa 12..... it was awesome!! View of pool and ocean. The pools are very warm this time of year and lots of families enjoying the pool , which made it difficult to have a quiet day. The worst was people .....from the US always trying to hoard in on your umbrella!!! They practically sat right beside you. We  [... read more]had to ask a few times for people to back up. The food was absolutely the best I have ever had at an all inclusive. We did 1 a la carte and it was good. Service in the buffet was top notch due to a wonderful young man named Gama. He lead us to the air conditioned section everyday. The bar service at the main beach was hit and miss, some bar tenders where grouchy and rude. They work very hard having many things to do, but if you can't be nice under pressure get a different job. Would we go back...... only to the adults only section.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Great family resort!!!

Great resort , kids had lots of fun. Bar Service little slow Room service very good , rooms cleaned twice a day.Grounds and hotel very well kept and clean. Overall hotel is brand new and well design with modern touch. Great shows at night and all lighting through out the resort is amazing!! Would recommend this hotel .Great vacation !!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Riviera Maya / Grand Bahia Principe Coba

Stayed at Grand Bahia Principe Coba for 7 days (all inclusive). There are 3 resorts connected together and you can use all the restaurants/facilities when you staying at any of them (Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba). Good food, friendly staff. The only thing some people may not like is that resort is big, you will need to take the golf cart shuttle to get around if your room is on the far end of the resort.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Amazing Resort

We loved this resort, it was clean, well maintained, huge with lots of lovely grounds to walk around. The beach was kept clean, lots of beds available, the sea was actually warm ! the pools were lovely and warm too. The food was fantastic as were the staff all very friendly. We will definitely return :)

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Old, but still nice

The place is better than in the past, but still needs to be renovated. The food is okay, but not great . The spa treatments are excellent but expensive. The beach was awful because of the incredible amount of seaweed. Could hardly swim with all the seaweed. Although they tried to clean up the beach, they could of cleaned it up much quicker if they used a boat with a fishing net and a tractor. Night shows were good. Room a/c wasn't working properly. Don't understand why they don't put one in for the room size, since they have the space for one. I know that it's strange to rent the same room (67301) but the location is to die for. Close to everything, especially to the beach. Place hard to beat quality vs price. Room service was good, food arrived hot. Maid service was okay but always short of something and to come back. Plenty of coffee and water. Bar refreshed daily Hope this review was helpful.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Disappointing Experience. Expected more from 5-star hotel.

We just got back form 7 days vacation at this resort. (Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro). We are family of four with two kinds (13 and 8) living in Canada. We have limited experience in Caribbean vacations: it is based on our visits to 4 Cuban 5-star resorts. We were told that 5-star resorts in DR are class above the 5 star resorts in Cuba (Melia Marina Varadero, and Ensenachos Iberostar where we stayed in the past). We went to DR for: i) the beach, ii) a bit of luxury ( food, drinks ) apparentl [... read more]y missing in Cuban 5 star hotels. We expected something a class better from this place, as everyone ( including travel agents) assured us that compared to Cuba the Grand Bahia in DR is a top notch place. We got none of the above so we were quite disappointed. Below are the details: 1) Beach is practically "un-swimmable" due to the seaweed. The thick layer of algae in the ocean makes it a very unpleasant experience -- my eight-year daughter and I, got some form of skin rash from this on a third day. It is true that the seaweed is "taken care of" -- there are workers with pitchforks working along the shore whole day. They rake the seaweed into the small piles ( 1 meter diameter and 1 meter high) with about 2 meters space between them. Then the tractors come to scoop them up and move away, and then the pitchfork guys start again. If you lounge on the beach you see and hear these tractors all the time, you also smell diesel. I would not be surprised if there is an accident with kid run over by one of these machines at some point. The other raters comments about " weeds being an issue that is quickly dealt with" do not reflect the sad reality that the whole beach is affected by this ( July 12 to July19). For me it was the source of greatest disappointment -- staying near the pool is an option, but I could rent a place with swimming pool closer to home, if all I cared for was the pool-- I wanted an ocean. 2) Food/Restaurants/Drinks None of the restaurants use their air-conditioning fully. I does not matter how good the food is if I am sweating while sitting there. I know we came there for the sun -- but the whole point is to be able to get out of the heat/humidity from time to time. ( Buffet and each a la carte restaurant we visited were about 27C.) Bars serve almost only local substitutes of quality alcohol-- did not see much difference from what I was offered at Cuban resorts. (To give you an example -- they consider Gordon Gin and Beefeater as upgrades for which you pay extra), so at no point I felt that this was 5-star establishment, I was expecting. 3) Rooms -- we had junior superior room booked for us. It was OK for size , but it had this aggressive chemical odour to it-- like bleach was used excessively to mask the smell of mould. We had to complain to get a room with properly working AC. After being transferred to the new room I discovered that the AC unit has a limiter on it. I had to complain three times to the resort management and finally the technician was sent to remove it ( he had to open the ceiling panel to change the electrical element in the circuit.) After that the cold air finally started blowing. Needless to say the AC was "working" before, (so they try to make you believe that what you get is a standard) just not the way it should have been: it was barely blowing a tepid air on max settings. It seems to be a typical approach-- many guests will not complain or will resign themselves to the fact that this is the way it is supposed to be, and live in this humid/hot environment. Rooms are very dark ( there are only wall side lights so at night it is quite dim.) 4) Resort is very busy, the beach and the main pool near the beach are overcrowded. Perhaps the other ( adults only) parts of this complex are less crowded, but I was told we are not allowed to use them. 5)Number of people/vendors trying to sell you something is unbelievable. One section of the beach had as many of them as guests. You can also be ambushed by friendly sales representatives who want to show you the new resort Fantasia or get you to join the Privilege club. 6) there are throngs of very loud guests waking you up at night (3AM) if you are near the main transfer route of the hotel. ( We were in Villa #30). 7) the mini-golf area is not very good ( no shade and very worn out) POSITIVES: 1)The food is of decent quality and fresh -- none of us had any stomach trouble despite eating risky food (we had beef carpaccio, seafood, mayo-based salads etc.) 2) Staff is very efficient and quick, there are many people working there. If you ask for something ( towels, busboy) the action will be taken within few minutes. 3) The resort is very clean. 4) It has good quality night entertainment -- I mean life music ( not the shows). 5) Very few mosquitos -- I got bitten once or twice for the entire stay. 6) Main bar in the lobby serves very good drinks -- look for what they call a "drink of the day." If you are Canadian do not bother to buy Dominican Pesos -- the whole resort operates based on US dollars. Room Tip: Check the AC in your room upon arrival.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great place!

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica was a great and fun place. We felt comfortable and welcomed by the staff, who were courteous and very friendly. Whatever we needed, they were there for us. The room was nice and the mini bar was always filled with beverages and snacks. The entertainment every night was enjoyable. Overall, the experience was great.

This resort was amazing!!! The food and the hotel staff and service was great Perfect for my whole family, the children had a blast at the pool and the beach. Couldn't have asked for a better choice of vacation :) I truly enjoyed the 7 days we were there, will return in the near future
