Melia Costa Rey: Really Nice Resort

The Pullman is a very nice hotel. This was my second stay. Pools and pool area is great. Lovely beach. Nice Hotel Reception bar area which unfortunately is upstairs and difficult to get to for a number of their many older clients. There is a small elevator but 80% of the time it is out of service. Wonderful poolside entertainers. Pool and Sea side bars are good. Really good Buffet Restaurant. Good service and plenty of food choices. Night time entertainment was average. My room was a good si [... read more]ze. No water problems. Guaranteed a good shower every time. The Maid was great. Nice Balconey. Not so impressive by the room facilities. For instance there was a fancy radio alarm clock that didn't work. A coffee maker that also didn't work and, it turned out, a phone that also wasn't working. The grounds were okay but there were free range chickens everywhere which were cute to some but scary to others.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Still good value

Fourth time at this resort, as we have always enjoyed it however, you can tell that the pandemic has had significant effects on the level of service and the condition of the resort. Also, there was three days where there was no beer, and one day of no eggs, which was very disappointing.

Paradisus Varadero: Nice resort aging now.

Resort was nice but it’s getting older and needs plumbing work on it’s ocean view rooms. They booked us into a flooded room for our first night which was a bit scary as we arrived at midnight. We had to move a second time due to our toilet flooding. Many Miskitos here as well. The staff are all nice.

Playa Vista Azul: Playa Vista Azul

Good. Service was very good in Caribero Cuban Restaurant . Servers were.Yuima - Molesy - Amalia and Doralys. Bell man Abel. Room service very creative with bed set up. view from the lobby to Ocean fantastic.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing week

My 20 year old daughter and I spent an amazing week in the Lagoon Room block 2 on the 2nd floor. Room: clean, comfortable beds, hot showers, no musty smell, beautiful view of lagoon and sunset. Water and other beverages were stocked daily. Buffet & restaurants: Plenty of food, eggs at buffet or 24 hour snack bar any way you want it. Lots of options for veggies, pasta, chicken, pork, fish, fruit, dessert. Drinks: some areas on resort carried frozen options such as pina colada or Daqueri  [... read more]while others didn’t but there was no shortage of beverages. Grounds, Pool, Beach: simply beautiful! Well manicured grounds, clean and cared for, pool was blue and clear and you can’t beat the white powdered sands and crystal blue water in Cayo Coco. Entertainment and staff: Amazing!! Can’t say enough about how hard they work and how energetic they are to ensure you have an enjoyable vacation. We will definitely return.

Playa Costa Verde: Excellent and extremely warm staff

Hotel staff at all levels continue to make you feel that Hotel Playa Costa Verde is your second home. There were some shortages resulting from supp chain and embargo issues, like milk and burgers. However there were tons of other selections. Plan to return in August. My stay was like a dream that you are in control off.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Wonderful week.

Grounds are beautiful and well kept. The rooms are spacious, clean and everything works as it should. I did have a problem with the safe but this was quickly resolved. As is usually the case in Cuba the service is fantastic. The staff are always kind, friendly and helpful.

Melia Marina Varadero: Stay Away From This Resort, Not A 5 Star

Stay Apr 15-22 This resort definitely not a 5 star as advised. The food and service were horrible, breakfast, lunch and dinner were the same in the buffet, the over cooked chicken wings, pumpkin, cabbage and the white beans. I never ate this much pumpkin and cabbage in my life, though there were grilled fish for 3 nights, and grilled chicken breast nightly, I'm not a white meat fan, so never tried the grilled chicken, the fish was good, this is the only food I like, but long line up. There a [... read more]lso a pasta place so you can order pasta. One think I don't understand is why we cannot carry a purse or backpack in the buffet, they afraid we will steal the food in the bag? This place need lots of maintenance, one night was raining, I was waiting for the pasta, and water was leaking from the ceiling, I was complaining loud to myself that I can't believe it this is a 5 star resort, then a lady over heard me and started to complain her room no hot water, toilet paper, and the water is not draining. luckily our toilet was broken only once, and got fixed, but the phone was not working, we reported, but never got fixed. It was a hassle that we had to walk to the front desk to reset the wifi every time when it exceeded the 5 hours limit. The so call mini bar had 2 cokes and a big bottle of water. One morning we were still sleeping, the guy knocked on the door to drop off the cokes and water, he didn't wait for our permission to allow him to enter and he just walked in. I was so mad and complaint at the front desk, then never received the water and cokes again. There was 1 a la carte restaurant every night, but you cannot booked in advance, you need to book in the morning and only 40 seats available. The front desk said they starting to take order at 8, and everybody was waiting and the person didn't show up after 9. If you come late, you're out of luck. It was a terrible experience in the restaurant, we didn't get served for 1/2 hour after we got seated, not even a water and manual. We were looking at them walking by without an acknowledgement. I was running out of patience and shouted out loud for service, then got their attention. After we ordered, another 1/2 hour for the food, and it came so slow between the appetizer, entree, and dessert. The food was so bad, all I can taste is salty, I just had 1 bite, didn't wait for the dessert and left. This is my first time in Cuba, and do not have high expectation for the food, but kind of surprised to receive this lousy service, tips cannot motivate them. Basically everyone we met no one is satisfied with this resort. We will not return to this resort ever again. They offered free drinks at the beach, and the beach was gorgeous, that's the only think I like about Cuba.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Disappointed

This was the third time I vacationed at this resort …… about 4 years between stays , I find the resort going in the wrong direction …… taking into account post covid , and understanding it’s truly not the fault of the staff , I think they could have done a little better …… some of the staff weren’t very friendly …… understaffing , resulting in long lines ….. sometimes running out of certain foods ….: I’ve never travelled to Cuba for the food , yet this trip was consider [... read more]ably worse …….. upon arrival , I checked approx 20:30 , went to the bar , and told they didn’t have any rum ! …… no rum in Cuba ! …..: hmmm …… yet , 5 steps away , I could purchase all the rum I wanted in the gift shop ….: interesting ? ….. to be fair , rum did arrive , a few days later …… trying to secure a taxi from the resort became an Olympic event …… first time in Cuba ( been there 12 times ) and been chewed badly by bugs …… a lot of people on the resort had the same issue …… I guess the bottom line is , Cuba is hurting ….. which trickles down to tourism ……: on a positive note , and I wish I could remember her name ( I know shame on me ) ….. my transat rep was amazing …… she went above and beyond to help me out …… and of course trip central.com …… very professional , thanks ! ……: I’ve always loved Cuba , but I think my next vacation will be elsewhere …… until Cubas in a better position …… sadly , I would not recommend this resort 🥲

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Beautiful resort!

We had an amazing time at this beautiful resort. The beach is amazing and pools are clean and relaxing. There is more than enough room to be comfortable with lots of chairs available at the beach and pool. There are also beds always available by the pool. There is entertainment each day and night for all ages. This includes yoga, Zumba and evening shows. The staff are super friendly here. They try their best with food. Rooms are super clean and spacious. The snack bar is open 24hrs for drinks and snacks. They also had musical entertainment that would come around and play traditional songs. If staying here advised to bring lots of snacks/condiments. Also it would be helpful to bring your own beach towel as they give you some but if you lose it you’ll have to pay a fee. This is truly a great resort for all ages. Again lots of activities on the resort and then also close to Moron/Cayo coco for solo exploration or for joining excursions. Also we had a spa day which was amazing! My friend got lashes done and I got a manicure and pedicure. We both loved our service. My nails lasted the rest of the trip and are going strong. Yadira is super friendly and talented! She is really good at hair cuts and braids as well!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Beautiful resort

Hotel was old but well kept with character. Rooms were clean . TV sucked but that Cuba. Beach was beautiful and water great. Staff were outstanding friendly and helpful. Wifi was good but had to go to the desk to resign in all the time, sort of a pain. Shortages in Cuba were felt in the resort, you didn't go hungry or thirsty but they ran out of things from time to time. Overall had a great vacation and even being covered with noseeum bites and the shortages I will go back.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Ok

I will say good things first....neat and well kept grounds,beach was amazing,pool mainly well kept. Now the bad,no hot water the whole time we were there despite calling daily sometimes 3x.Had towels exchanged 1 time and had to ask.sheets never changed,2 adults and hot weather needs sheet changes.Buffet was typical except the piece of glass my husband chewed on. Would I go back?NEVER

Sol Palmeras: Lovely Resort

We went mid-April 2023. Enjoyed the long walks on beautiful beach. The nightly entertainment was really good. In the dining buffet room, the staff was courteous and friendly. Lots to do: kayaking, sailboat, pedal boats, We had a standard room: very clean but furniture is dated. Overall we were satisfied. Would go back.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Nice new hotel lacking essentials

The hotel grounds set up nicely, beach is nice, service at beech side great. The rooms are great, but cleanliness not good. We had to ask for fresh bath towels after 3 days of not being changed. Shortage of food. (Coffee, milk, napkins, spoons, no wine at buffet, a verity of liquors, no butter,soda water) . Same food served every day. One chef at station serving a huge lineup of people for omelette, or pasta. No shop on site, closest town more than 1 hour away. Mosquitoes every night. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Best Vacation Ever!

This is a beautiful small resort on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in Cuba! Miles of soft white sand and the warm turquoise ocean, with plenty of beach chairs and palapas for shade (although it helps to get there early to secure your spot). The service is out of this world! Every guest has their own "butler" who is there to look after your every need or whim. All of the staff are delightful - very friendly and professional. The spa, which they share with the resort next door, is beautiful and our massage was truly restorative. We have always loved Cuba and have been several times. Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Decent resort

This review is strictly our personal opinion. We do not recommend anything to anyone because every person has its own priorities and ideas about good and bad vacation. My wife and myself had stayed at this resort 10 years ago. It was in a very desperate condition. Recent reviews were saying WOW about newly renovated hotel SOL. It is a way exaggerated. The resort was reopened at the end of Nov.22 and it seems that everything was done in a hurry. Everything was repainted with ugly white pai [... read more]nt which seems to be just super cheap or expired primer paint. In many places you touch the painted surface and you can see traces of paint on your fingers. Inside the room ( We have seen three) the surfaces of the entrance doors and sliding doors to the washroom are all hand stained and maids do not care to do anything about it. The rooms however were renovated. It is true. Only some rooms have new AC. Most AC are old and it is a good chance that you get a bad one. We had to change our room once due to non-functional AC. In general, if everything is functional, we do not care much about rooms and grounds. Our priority is deep enough ocean to swim. This is the oldest resort on CSM and it has the best spot in regards of the ocean. Beach is cleaned very badly. Over two weeks period we have seen only one person that tried to clean the beach which is probably about 500 m long. He seemed to be more preoccupied to hang around naturist beach to collect his tips for cleaning beach chair. The beach of neighbouring resort Melia Cayo Santa Maria was cleaned by 7:30 every morning. Probably 80% of tourists are going to naturist beach but they have only 20% of the hotel beach dedicated to them. Why not let people enjoy the whole beach the way they want. Btw, there are many tourist that coming to sunbath on SOL naturist beach from other resorts. We stayed at textile section of the beach which was mostly empty, no loud music at all but gentle whisper of the ocean - perfect! 32 times in Cuba (all over Cuba) and we have never had any problems with food. In fact, we consider Cuban food way better that Canadian food which is full of artificial flavors, antibiotics, trans fats and God knows what other chemicals. The official statistics says that 65% - 70% of adult Canadian population is obese. Maybe it is because of "great Canadian food"? Everyone is tipping with Canadian coins, which workers later exchange to bills with the help of tourists. A quite efficient system. The choice of alcohol was very satisfactory: rum, beer, red whine, "river" of Spanish champagne. We do not care much about mixed drinks. This is not party resort, thanks God. Mostly older people. Again, no kids. We do not care about pool. With resort capacity of 300 something rooms there was about 90 -100 tourists according to the receptionist. The number is going down as she said. Again, perfect for us. It is was a very first time that we have ever seen managers eating in a buffet (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and drinking in the bar. I guess, everything is perfect at the resort and there is absolutely nothing else left to do. One more thing. The English of the personnel is extremely limited or nonexistent. Not sure about French. Most tourists are from Quebec. Despite all the mentioned negatives, we will return to this resort when the price is right.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Wonderful hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at luna marrs as all ways even with only half open and supply shortages. Our 13th trip and will go back. Our trouble was with air transit after driving 3 hours to airport thay delay the flight 14 hours. 1st notice was when we dropped off our baggage 3 hours ahead. Next morning at check in thay gave us meal slips to be used at the airport .we already had breakfast and these expired the next day. Thay should of been useable on air transit plain. Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: A Great Value!

When you haven't been to Cuba often, or ever, it's challenging to choose a good resort. So you rely on reviews, and I want to share my experience at Angsana Cayo Santa Maria. My criteria was for a beautiful beach, good snorkling close by, decent food choices, clean resort and a pleasant staff. This resort checked ALL the boxes. Didn't matter which beach, though the best was off the rocky section. (path by the end of the pool). Lion fish, barracuda, star fish, tuna, the list never ended. Food was typical Cuban fare. But if you know that going in, you won't be unhappy. The fish tenders at the snack bar were my personal fav. Ala-carts were surprisingly good. Coffee and drink preparation were first class!! They ran out of cheese halfway through the week, but that was probably a good thing for my cholesterol. I have cheese at home. Resort was spotless, very bright and new feel. The "Garden view" room we had I think was one of the cheapest rooms, facing opposite the ocean. But this gave us quiet/peaceful mornings on the balcony listening to the birds.... No Regrets there. The staff were all extremely professional and VERY pleasant. The excursions (Santa Clara, and Jeep Tour) were good, but know that things are very difficult for Cubans right now, so the trips were educational, eyeopening and somber at times. My only disappointment was the lack of nightlife/entertainment, very chill. This can be good or bad depending on your desires. I will say, there was an electric violinist who blew my mind one night. A pianist, fashion show and water show rounded it off. There was a "Jazzroom" but it was never open. All-in-all I was EXTREMELY happy taking my girlfriend for her first Cuban trip to this resort. I wouldn't hesitate a second to go back.

Brisas Guardalavaca: good resort

We all thought the hotel was good overall. They had soap in all bathrooms 90 percent of the time , toilet paper less than that . Shortages are common on the island.They had enough food in buffet , no wine until 2 weeks into our trip and no liqueurs If you don't like noise get end of hotel rooms or villas . Room was good except for power plugs should be replaced as you had to play with them to make them work . loose connections in sockets so no power .Grounds were kept well and they were replac [... read more]ing a lot of walkway tile in April . Front desk more helpful than Club Amigo although they need more bellboys when a bus comes in. We had to handle all our luggage (lots) but they had trolley carts , so we survived. Beach is great . Most of the staff was friendly and accommodating , a few were not and should not be working there. Would not serve tables , on phone all the time , etc. As a 3.5 star hotel goes it was just fine and had all we needed.
