Barcelo Maya Colonial: Forgot how amazing Mexico is...

We had an amazing week. The food was good and plentiful. The staff are so energetic and ready to get you anything you could possibly want. The beds were comfortable. Only complaint is that the Theater went a little late...my room faced the theater. If you wanted to turn in early there was no way you could sleep until it was done. Unfortunately, our flight there was delayed making a long day almost unbearable and then our flight home was also delayed. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Love this Resort!

Everything about this resort is wonderful! The pools, the beaches, the food, the rooms....it's all great. There are plenty of attractions nearby and right on site as well. The spa is awesome, there is surfing, snorkling, and deep sea fishing. The staff are super helpful and very nice. We really enjoyed ourselves and definately going back!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Fantastic Vacation @ Barcelo Maya Beach

Beautiful and well kept grounds with fantastic pools and a prime beach location. Great for family/friends getaways! All a La carte restaurants we booked were fantastic. The buffet was a bit lacking for dinner but was fine for breakfast and lunch. The room was slightly dated but functional and any issues were immediately resolved.

Riu Latino: Amazing experience

I've been to a few resorts in Mexico, and this was by far the one with the best service. The staff was always smiling and helpful. The resort itself is very clean and well maintained. We went after spring break so we didn't have to fight for our lives for a chair. The buffet is very good, and the Menu à la carte restaurants are among the best I've had so far, and no reservation needed. The water slides are a really nice touch if you're into that! As for entertainment, the silent disco [... read more] was amazing, the foam party too. My only minor critic is the daytime music: it's kind of the same thing over and over, but again, far from a showstopper.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Mexico stay

Resort has not changed in 20 years. Rooms are dated but clean .Food is fine with a variety for everyone. Making restaurant reservations is not an easy process. Wifi is limited to nil. Pools and beaches are clean and friendly.

Grand Oasis Palm: Medium level resort

It was a medium level resort and was lower than my expectation. There are much better resorts with this price in cancun. Busy restaurants with not qualified foods. No responsible staffs in lobby. Most of them they did not know English !!! I don't recommend it.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Awesome trip

First off I forgot my purse in the bus that brought us to hotel from the airport. It was delivered back at the hotel within an hour with everything intact. Just awesome :) Flight, hotel, excursions and staff was excellent. We upgraded to privilege and it was worth every penny. I would definitely return to this hotel and would highly recommend it. for people who want the beach experience I would not send them here. But everything else was awesome. The only thing that needs to improve would be the showers as the water goes everywhere there is no way of it to stay in the shower area. I also enjoyed the Hamilton airport as a departure and will definitely try to avoid Pearson at all costs.

Grand Oasis Palm: Awful

It was worth experience Staff were very rude Food was very bad and we were always more than one hour on the line to get into the restaurant and long lines of people. The staff didn’t speak English and didn’t understand what we needed and didn’t care about guests at all. We reserved the tour and they took our money and did not send us confirmation and information about transportation and we lost the tour. On the last day unfortunately they did not send us transportation to get us from h [... read more]otel to Airport, even we talked with them the day before on the phone and confirmed, but they didn’t care and we were late at the airport to come back to Toronto Nobody was responsible for anything in the hotel, I talked to front desk and they did not care and were really rude to me and our family. We were 23 people as a family and friends and everyone unhappy. We wasted our money and our time at this hotel

Playa Mazatlan: If you don't mind noise...

The worst thing about this hotel is not their fault. Mariachi bands show up for almost the entire afternoon. 3 or 4 or more bands playing different songs at the same time LOUDLY!! It's absolutely intolerable.

Grand Palladium Colonial: Beautiful ❤️

Everything was great. Staff were amazing very friendly and pleasant. Concierge and receptionist were great. We did a lot of walking and the staff would always greet us with a smile. They keep the Lobby area and the buffet always clean. Our room always cleaned. Fresh water and snacks. Will definitely be going back soon hopefully in November 2023

Flamingo Vallarta: Get what you pay for.

We enjoyed the hotel and requested tortillas at most meals to make into tacos. New beds were arriving. Hotel could use some maintenance. Don't check out until last minute to get most of all inclusive.

Riu Santa Fe: March Break Santa Fe

The hotel was gorgeous. The views were amazing. The food was good and plenty of it everywhere. We didn’t know it was spring break also in the United States and our hotel was like a frat party for the majority of the week. When Friday and Saturday finally arrived there was a different atmosphere at the hotel. You didn’t feel like you had to fight to get drinks but someone was coming to you to ask if you want a drink. We were told to come back at 7:20 but watched the man take others before our reservations or others that spoke Spanish. They very much encourage you to use their app when you are there so it only makes sense that you should be allowed to make reservations on the app as well to help reuse people having to get dressed and then find something to do for an hour before they are allowed to have dinner.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: wouldn't book again

This resort is very big. It is 619 acres. Be prepared to do lots of walking. If you do choose to stay here, be sure to book 'Premium.' Even though this is a 5 star resort, the 'superior run of the house' rooms are extremely dated and need a thorough renovation. Our room was on the second floor and air conditioning worked well. Bathroom had peeling paint in the tub. The food is excellent. We had read reviews about bland food and did not find that. The a la cartes are hard to book and we could [... read more] only get dinner times between 5 - 6 pm. I don't know if they did that as well as we had an 8 year old. Seems like all the kids were with parents at this dinner time. The resort's entertainment around the pools and activities are lacking. There are 4 main pools and most of the action seemed to be happening at Tropical. That was 2 resorts away from us. The shows are too late. All started at 9:30 pm. With a 8 year old we just couldn't make it to them. We have enjoyed other resorts where the entertainment is more geared towards children (having some children's shows). The Barcy club is too hard to access. They are too strict with drop off times and they only allow you to book in 50 minute increments. The pools and beaches were great. Alcohol was very watered down. The staff work very hard, especially the grounds crew. The resort exterior is immaculate. Very commercial resort, too many stores. Miss quainter resorts with less shopping options. No one is selling you anything on the beach which is nice but you almost miss it too. We used collectivo to explore, but be prepared to be in the middle of nowhere.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: It has gone downhill since 2019

This was our second time there. The rooms need some upkeep. The AC in our room needed repairing twice, and the safe locked us out twice. The food at the buffets was repetitive. It was very chaotic to book reservations for the a la carte restaurants as they expected you to use the app, but had a kiosk with a person booking at the same time so you would book and then get cancelled. The beach is only rocks. However, the staff are wonderful, the entertainment fabulous, the activities varied and so m [... read more]any. The waterpark was a hit for the grandkids as was the kids club. Swimming in the cenote was refreshing. The rooms are clean and so are the pools.

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: Nice hotel

We thought the hotel was nice. The rooms were nice. The beach is amazing the hotel staff were fantastic. The food not so great except the Japanese restaurant was awesome. The room cleanliness could be improved on.

Riu Flamingos: Fantastic week at RIU Jalisco

We're not resort people, but would go back in a heartbeat! Hotel rooms are spacious, beds are super comfortable, lights, toilet and shower are in excellent condition, mini bar was restocked every other day! Loved the view from from 4162 - great balcony with built in drying rack. In fact, bonus points for the awesome foldaway drying rack. We're vegetarian and were delighted with the food options. Super easy to rent a car through Alamo - which they brought to the hotel. We drove ourselves to Sayulita for the day. Didn't do any paid day trips, but heard good things. Kudos to RUI for the endless eco efforts: no straws, reusable cups and plates, great signage in rooms that encourages re-use of sheets and towels in order to waste less water and electricity. LOVVVVVVED the non-smoking policy!!!!!!! Only downside: every time we went to dining rooms there were dirty tables and drink service was slowwwwww. Seems like bars and restaurants were understaffed. But we would still go back and recommend the property to everyone.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Not happy

I am writing this on behalf of my parents. They have been to El Cozumeleno at least 3 to 4 times pre Covid. This year they travelled there for two weeks and returned on March 14th. The experience was horrible. They didn’t like the food as it was the exact same thing every single day to the point where they couldn’t eat anything without feeling nauseous or upset stomach. There was no entertainment like there had been in the past. Barely even any music. The service was extremely slow. The one  [... read more]positive thing is that the grounds were kept clean. With regards to Covid, well my parents are in their mid eighties, they both came home testing positive for Covid! Need I say more! Much to their surprise, when they arrived at the hotel, they were charged $182.00 USD and had to pay immediately. This was supposed to be an all inclusive trip. Other hotels there didn’t charge a dime extra. When I reached out to trip central regarding this charge, apparently the very fine print was at the bottom of the hotel voucher. They received this voucher after paying for the trip and no one made mention to this. I booked this for them online but we had spoken to trip central reps over the phone several times and no mention of this was made.The air Canada rouge flight was a terrible experience as the washroom sinks were plugged up with tape and they only had small packets of hand wipes. The bathrooms were filthy. As far as service goes, they weren’t even offered as much as a cookie on flight. Sad to say that this trip cost them almost double than usual but unfortunately it was the worst experience ever! As I mentioned, they are on old age pension and saved in hopes to have a good vacation, but it was the worst. They would appreciate some form of compensation at least the tax that they had to pay at the hotel!!! All of the people checking in at the hotel were very very shocked to have to pay this tax.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Naturally Beautiful Resort!

We loved the natural jungle setting. Seeing monkeys everyday was a highlight! Bambi the deer, Coatis and Agoutis, Iguanas and Flamingos! Everyday had animal excitement. I would have liked to have seen the Flamingos in a better spot with more stimulation but they looked very healthy. There were also beautiful macaws by the lobby area. Xcaret has a successful Macaw breeding program where they are [... read more] helping to repopulate Macaws back into the wild. I was very happy to hear that! We absolutely loved the natural pool. Another highlight! The beach is small but it’s beautiful and very clean. It’s perfect for kids because it’s an inlet that’s sectioned off from the rest of the ocean. It’s also great if you are new to snorkelling. You can also snorkel by the natural pool but only on a calm day - check the warning flags. I went when the flag was yellow, and don’t go by yourself. It’s technically off the resort. We brought our own snorkel gear, I never figured out if they offered it. Best to bring your own. My daughter and her friend had a lot of fun at the pools playing trivia and cornhole. They are 18, and also really enjoyed the nightlife. Our room was nice, loved the balcony! That’s where we saw the most monkey action. AMAZING!! We were in building 18, 2nd floor. Our information hosts Ashley and Camilla were so kind and helpful. The cleaning staff was lovely. Checkin was quite a slow process, but not a big deal. The lobby was beautiful to look at while we waited. All of the staff were friendly, fun and there to help. We had such a great experience! We bought the unlimited Xcaret passes, which I think was a good idea. We walked over to the park almost every day. The Aviary is outstanding. And the underground /cave river was really fun and relaxing. The food was a mix of ok and good. You found what you liked and stuck with it. My daughter and I are vegetarian so we were limited to begin with. Fresh fruit was great. We liked the pasta bar. And again, the staff was lovely. It was an expensive vacation but when you get there and see your surroundings you understand why. A lot of work goes into this place. We had a really great trip!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: The resort was beautiful but the beach was not! Lots of sea weed and rocks. Very hard to walk any distance on the beach.

The room was satisfactory as far as sleeping but the maid service was iffy. We had an incident where the maid broke the coffee pot glass in the bath tub/shower and never even cleaned up the glass only got rid of the pot handle and ring. When I phoned the front desk to report this, they said sorry but that was it They never even sent anyone one to pick the glass out of the tub or off the floor and if I had not noticed the glass before getting into the shower, they could have had a problem wit [... read more]h someone could have had a very bad cut. We cleaned the glass up ourselves.The cleanliness was not up to my standards but realize we were in Mexico. Some of the restaurants in the resorts were very nice and we really enjoyed them.
