Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Slightly better than average Resort

The hotel overall was a little better than average. Check in was a two hour ordeal that I would not wish on anyone, by far the worst check in experience I have ever had. The grounds were very well kept, and the public areas were generally clean. The rooms were a little dated, and the TV in ours did not work at all. The room service was lacking, as the bar fridge was not regularly stocked, and we had to ask staff several times to get beverages. The pools were average at best, and the main bar regularly had large line ups, and it could take some time to get a drink. Always seemed to be understaffed.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Above average resort!!

This resort has a excellent pool facilities with a swim up bar with many activities available!! The food was excellent with many choices for everyone!! The only negative part of the resort is the rooms are old, with old electrical problems!! By far the best part of this resort was the service you receive!! TRS Turquesa: Beautiful Amazing Resort

The resort was beautiful with well manicured trees, bushes and flowers. The restaurants were clean, food was delicious and the beverages were great. Public washrooms were clean and well maintained. Accommodations and room services were exceptional. The resort workers were so happy, friendly and helpful if we needed anything.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Great food, friendly staff, but bad drinks service

We went to Bahia Principe Grand El Portillo for a week as a family including two sets of grand parents and our four year old. It was a fantastic resort and the beach absolutely blew us away. The sand was soft and well maintained but the best part was the coral reefs just off the shore that were teeming with fish! You could literally walk a few meters into shoulder-deep water and see colorful tropical fish without paying for any snorkeling tours. The food was phenomenal at the buffets - loads of choice and the snack bar was way above what we expected to find at a typical snack bar - it was basically a mini buffet with full on meals which was amazing for a little kid who gets hungry at random times of the day. The a-la-carte restaurants were alright, nothing too interesting or special but still worth a visit. The staff were incredibly friendly and even though few spoke English outside of the front desk staff they really did try hard to tend to your needs. In particular, the ladies who ran kids activities were so nice and so sweet, my son really enjoyed playing in the sand the sand and at the "Bahia Scouts" kids center. The only exception to this is the drinks service - the staff will happily come take your order as you sit and enjoy the patios but literally out of 10+ times they took an order from me for something as simple as a glass of wine they never actually came back with the drink. I'm not talking about it coming slowly, I'm saying after 45+ minutes they still didn't even check up again and even try to make up for forgetting. Moreover, in the evening time there's basically only the one bar operating as the beach and pool bars close so with the amount of people there and the tiny bar, you guessed it - you're waiting more than 20 minutes sometimes just to fill up a small cup of beer. This is not limited to alcohol - at the breakfast buffet, getting a cup of coffee was a challenge. This was honestly one of the most annoying things about our stay and while it is not a deal breaker it would definitely make me think twice about visiting again. I generally don't want to stand in lines for significant portions of my vacation. The rooms were pretty "meh" - adequate but nothing special. We had a shower faucet that sprayed sideways when we got our room that they quickly fixed after we complained. Unlike some other resorts I've been to, there's not much to see if you try to walk somewhere from the resort. The closest town, Las Terrenas, was almost an entire hour's walk down the beach with not much to see there. A few other things that are worth mentioning as well: * There are a few mosquitos but not many; only a few bites out of a whole week there * There are two ATMs at the resort but both of them stole my money - they withdrew the funds but never gave me any cash. One refunded it quickly, but for the second time I had to launch a full investigation via my bank that is going to take 10-15 business days to recover the funds (hopefully). DO NOT USE THE ATMs; and even the ones outside the resort I wouldn't trust. You're much better off bringing in American dollars that you exchange in Canada. * There are some incredibly friendly stray dogs that occasionally wander into the resort area; we along with many others that we saw found them very endearing. They are super sweet and do not cause any trouble at all, but if you're afraid of dogs you might want to make note of that. Many people including us petted them and really enjoyed their company. They will quickly leave you alone if you tell them to "shoo" and wave away. There are also cats around the resort, they are also super sweet although they don't really like to be petted - me and my wife both got scratched when we tried to. * Wifi in the lobby and common areas was fairly good but in the villas it was very, very spotty to the point of not working at all for long stretches of time

Sunscape Puerto Plata: FAIR

Was not impressed with the LeCart restaurants, long wait and the food nothing outstanding. Entertainment not so good. Broken beach chairs should be removed. WIFI was horrible! pools were good and clean. Staff were always polite. Overall it was OK but was expecting better!

Playabachata Hotel: Not What It Used To Be

This resort did not seem to come out of covid too well. It has gone downhill since we were there a year before covid hit. On the outside everything looked good, clean rooms and grounds, busy bars. Now we get to the poor parts. The food service was the worst part of our stay. Under staffed and struggling to set tables and replace dishes, the buffet was a disapointment. It was 7 days of the same menu with little to no variety. Some days the main course at lunch became the main course at dinner. O [... read more]nly once did bacon show up at breakfast. At times some items were gone and were either not replaced or took forever to be replaced. There was no such thing as a teaspoon. The a la carte restaurants, only two, didn't amount to much. The servers couldn't tell you anything about the menu. I guess they wanted to curtail smoking. Hardly an ashtray in the whole resort. Entertainment was as per usual. Daytime staff playing games and bass heavy music. Nightime staff were trained dancers putting on theme shows. They catered to the younger crowd while ignoring their senior guests. Kind of missed a local merengue band brought in for a show. Another noticeable part of this resort was half of it was in darkness. The older part formerly known as the Mambo was completely shut down except for the pool. From the lobby, to the buffet ,to the disco, all in mothballs. The water sports sign out area was closed until the day before we left. The best part of this trip was the weather. 7 days of very warm days and cool nights with zero rain. hardly used the a/c. Finally anyone travelling to a Puerto Plata resort should be aware of a 1 hour detour around a closed bridge which will be added to your travel time to and from the airport.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Wonderful resort

This was our 8th trip to this Resort and we absolutely love the beach, pool and the walk through the mangrove is our so wonderful. The updates to your resort since our last trip are amazing. Your staff couldn’t be nicer, friendlier and more helpful and the food is exceptional. Lots to do do never feel you have to leave the resort ..looking forward to our next trip🥰

Excellence Punta Cana: Amazing Resort!

My wife and family have been to a number of resorts in the DominicanRepublic. Although we try not to get our expectations too high I must say that my wife and I, as well as our two adult daughters had a very nice time at this resort. We were pleasantly surprised by all the offerings of this resort. So much so that we have only positive things to say and as a result would highly recommend this resort. Royalton Hideaway Punta Cana: Wonderful Time at the Hideaway at Royalton Punta Cana

Initially my wife and I were preparing ourselves for average food and average service as the resort is quite large. BUT, since we arrived on Feb 23 and returned on Feb 30 we were both truly amazed and impressed at how well the establishment is run. The food was incredible. The staff were always friendly and extremely helpful. Not to mention it seemed like 3 staff members for every guest. We would HIGHLY recommend this resort to anybody me! Just wish we would have stayed longer!

Secrets La Romana: Top notch resort

We had a swim out room that looked out to the large adult pool and sea. Great location and view. Food was really good with different options to eat at. Every time you went to eat you were asked if anyone in you party had food allergies and they went out of their way to accommodate. Rooms were a good size and maid service was great. Thanks Nancy. We would definitely return.

Riu Palace Macao: Excellent Service

We had a great time the service,food, rooms and people were amazing. Glad we went with this resort. Highly recommend it. The entertainment was good the beach had ample room and chairs with sun and shade available. If you want a spot by the pool it maybe a early rise to get one.

Riu Republica: Not 5 star resort!

Grounds very nice as where the pools,can't say the same for the room or food. It being called a PARTY HOTEL is very accurate. Just good for drinking and partying! A hotel for the younger crowd to let loose!!

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Great family resort

The hotel was great, loved the layout of the family room. Great restaurants, a bit disappointing that we couldn’t eat at all of the restaurants at the other Royalton on the beach, as promised. Getting back and forth between the two resorts and the beautiful beach was less than a 10 minute walk or a quick ride on the transfer cart. The kids loved the shows at both resorts. The water park was another hit with the kids.

Impressive Punta Cana: The resort ALMOST lives up to its name

This resort is lush, intelligently thought out, has a great buffet with lots of choice, diverse dining options, a quiet pool for those who don't want noise and lots of people, a lovely beach with palm trees for shade, amusing entertainment and a massive lobby in the entrance and a disco. My ONLY big complaint is the Front Desk. The check-in was slow and a nightmare. Guest services are not overly friendly unlike the rest of the staff. Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Highly Recommend the Level - Incredible Value

Just got back from the Melia Wellness Resort for our anniversary and had such a wonderful time. We booked rooms that were a part of the "Level" and I seriously recommend this upgrade. The atmosphere was truly restoring for the soul. We took advantage of the free 30-minute massage as a couple and I later had an 80-minute hot stone massage. It was incredible. I have been to many all-inclusive resorts around the world and can attest that the food and service here, especially at the Level, are top quality. It was great to have many healthy (and some vegan) options as well. We had an outstanding experience with our "butler", Jenfry De Jesus. He was a personal concierge who took amazing care of us. He was so helpful during our trip and made sure all of our questions and concerns were addressed. He also had a few surprises up his sleeve that made our trip extra special. Overall, I wouldn't have wanted to have experienced our anniversary at any other resort. It was perfect.

Occidental Caribe: Terrible Resort

The front desk service was terrible! Took 3 hours to get a room! Our bathroom flooded everyday, toilet leaked. Our safe broken, patio door doesn’t lock. Other people had the same key card coded to our room. 5 people just walked in! A la Carte restaurants were all booked up. No one ever answered the front desk phone all week. Said there was a 24 snack bar, there wasn’t! Not enough chairs at pool or ocean. People were fighting over them! Food was just ok. Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: The Royalton

Overall thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Royalton, great food, service and amenities...I would however, suggest more attention to the small maintenance items in the rooms. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Excellent Resort

The whole experience was great from the beds to the pillows to the duvet. Very new and comfy. All the food was great too. The buffet was delicious with wonderful staff helping. We also went to the A La Carts and they were very good as well. The staff thru out the resort were very hardworking kind and helpful. We also found the Animation staff was very energetic but not pushy. It was a real joy to be here for the week. Thanks for a GREAT week!

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Wonderful staff

This is a wonderful resort, in saying this you must remember this is a 3 star resort . So to the people who stay in select side stop bitching. If you want a 5 star then pay for it. In saying this we love it it , the staff is wonderful and always happy and pleasant. We feel safe travelling outside in the town. So much to do and see. We will be back.
