The staff were amazing.. The hotel was impeccably clean.. It was a great experience and so much fun.. The only thing was that it is so damn big that you have a lot of walking to do but that also isn't considered bad.. With all the eating you end up doing, it's a workout and you burn all the calories you just gained..

Everything was absolutely beautiful! The staff was very friendly. The food was excellent, with a wide variety to choose from. The entertainment crew was a lot of fun as well! I would definitely visit again.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Good resort for adults

Beautiful and clean room but make sure request the room with garden or ocean view ,otherwise you will get construction view!!!! Food is good at the buffer with a lot of variety but not so good a la carte . The people are working hard at the beach to clean up the seaweed.!!! For the evening show you have to go to Barcelo Resort . The drink is good but the bar is closed too early ( 11 pm ).

Our time at Ambar Blue was memorable!! We will be back!! Thanks to the fabulous staff! Everything was taken care of and all our special request were met. Restaurants and beach were the best and service was great!!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Average Resort

At least a 90 min drive from either Samana or Puerto Plata airports. The resort has no features unless you pay to upgrade to their VIP service. Good: the beach was nice and never crowded. The maids were nice and friendly. Late night disco and karaoke bar were nice touch. Bad: You have to pay for a room safe, no room service, can't get a coffee after hours, food was average and not much selection. Waiting staff were too busy chatting with each other to help customers. Pool area was very smal [... read more]l and noisy all the time. Ugly: Bugs in rooms, beach restaurant that didn't have any take away service so you couldn't take a drink to the beach unless you went to other bar a long ways away.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Enjoyable stay

The beach (Grand side, not Luxury), the pools and our room were excellent. The Jerk chicken at the beach restaurant is exceptional. The Jasmine buffet restaurant was so-so. Of the seven a la carte restaurants in the complex, we dined at six of them and enjoyed only two. Jason at Mikado Teppanyaki made our dinner experience one worth remembering for years to come. Jemar at Rodizio did the same exceptional job of making our dinner experience phenomenal. There is no evidence of initiative to go above and beyond their duties to please the guests.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: A week in paradise

This is an amazing resort, if your looking for relaxation, quiet time then this is the place to go. The food is amazing, the service is above all, the pools are great. This was our 2nd time at this resort and if never fails. What are you waiting for book at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal now you won't be disappointed!!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Amazing Resort

This was our first trip to Riviera Maya and I was skeptical about this hotel with recent reviews. It exceeded my expectations as staff were amazing. They work so hard and still are smiling and willing to help. They treat children great...always giving high fives or hugs or joking.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Wonderful stay

Very easy to get around coba and to get to sister resort tulum, just hop on a trolley and your there, food was good, drinks good, the room was nice, good a/c never a sweaty night. Would definitely return.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro - 3/5

The hotel grounds were very well-kept and clean. The food was okay (nothing too spectacular but there was a good amount of variety). The beach was alright--been to better in other places in the Caribbean (Cuba, Jamaica, etc.). The pools were pretty great though so that helped...The room was clean, housekeeping was extremely professional and nice and really did her job with care. The service, however, that is where 5/5 stars are unfortunately, not present. While there were a few members of the s [... read more]taff that really stood out and did their jobs with care, we had experiences with a few that were outright rude or were unhappy if you didn't tip them the amount they deemed to be correct. We had trouble getting basic service at times (at the buffet especially) such as not having spoons or cutlery or the servers would ignore us to take long to assist--that kind of thing with the exception of a few. Tips: get towels early in the morning (8 am) as they disappear quickly and if you want a comfortable spot at the beach with shade, be prepared to arrive early in the morning as well ---this "conglomerate of resorts within one place" is huge and finding beach chairs is virtually impossible. All in all, while the resort itself was well-kept and had a lot to offer, I'd probably try elsewhere next time.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Semi inclusive, not all inclusive.

I want to start off saying, for 10 years I have wanted to go to this place. I have dreamed about it and we were finally able to go! Now I wish we didn't. If you are looking for a true all inclusive, then move on. This is not it. They will nickel and dime you to death here. Everything costs more. You want a safe, sure that's another $4 per day. You want internet (not the free one that's only available in limited space within the lobby), sure, that's another $80 for 7 days. They told us there are no upgrades at all to the Bavaro (there is even a forum on here somewhere stating no upgrades for Bavaro) yet on our 3rd last day (11 days total stay) there was a sign on the lobby counter stating upgrades were $35 per person per night!! insane!!! anyway, onto my very long and detailed review. The check in - We arrived before check in time. We went into the side room with our travel person. We chatted for a bit and that was that. She said our rooms are not ready yet, go have lunch, so we did. After lunch, still before check in time, we came back and asked about our rooms. Yup, all done and ready to go!! awesome. We checked in, they gave us a ride to our rooms (2 adjoining rooms on the main floor because of mobility issues). We had the "happy birthday banner on both rooms ( our anniversary and our son's birthday). We also had a bottle of champagne for our anniversary in our room. That was really great. Rooms - the rooms are average. We've been to a lot of all inclusive and they are all about the same. Nothing fantastic, but not terrible. Now, some we have been to include robes and slippers. Now, these are not necessary items, however, once you have had them its hard to go back. We did not have them this time at all (I do believe it was listed as being included). The walls along the floor were actually falling apart. There was pieces of the wall on the floor all the time. I'm sure its because of a flood or something at one time, but they do need to be fixed. There is never enough lights or plug ins in the rooms as well. We had to unplug the lamp and coffee pot to plug in other things we needed. The coffee in the room was great. There are no facecloths!! not sure why this is, since we have young children they are pretty much a necessity. Grounds - the grounds were great. always kept us and clean. There was always someone out there working, always!! It really is a beautiful place. Guest services - well now, where to start. I went to guest services and asked about restaurant reservations and said we have 2 rooms both for 11 days. Then asked about the reservations I had emailed about 2 weeks prior to our arrival, like I was told to do. They only had one room down, and they had only half the people listed on it. We were told, very bluntly, that we are only allowed to have 4 a la carte visits during our 11 days even though we have 2 rooms. Not sure why. I have never been to a resort before where I was limited to the number of a la carte restaurants I was allowed. I was completely shocked, Yes there is a buffet, but I will get into that later. So anyway, they booked us in 4 places, one right after the other, with 2 small children and reservations as late as 7:45. Now, it is June, and the place is at what, 50% capacity at the most! That is horrible. We didn't have a choice though unless we wanted buffet every night. Whatever, reservations done. The following day I went back again to guest services and asked what the number for room service was as there was nothing in our room about it. He looked at me and smirked and said "you don't get room service" again, floored!!! Since when in an all inclusive is room service not a thing?? So, after I got my composure again, asked him what was included in an all inclusive since almost everything we asked about was not included. He said your food drinks (only local, not international) and your room. Oh wow. So we paid almost $7,000 CAD for fights, rooms, food and some local drinks. Great. So then my next question, we have children and a diabetic with us who need to eat often, buffet is closed often so what can we do for food between buffet times. We were told to catch the tram to the beach and go eat at the buffet down there. great!! NOT! Lets pack everyone up from the pool, get a 70 year old with a cane and diabetes and 2 young children back to the room, dump all our stuff and catch a tram down to the restaurant down by the beach to have a snack, then load everyone up on the tram again and back to our room to get our stuff head back to the pool. Sounds like a wonderful time. We did it, very day. Great waste of 2 hours. Trams - there were many trams running all the time. They were simple and easy, once you found outwore everything is and which ones were going to where you wanted to go. We just started asking the driver where he was going and determined if our stop was on the way. Now, if you are wanting the tram to the kids water park, leave a good hour before you want to be there. It is always full and there is only 1 and it hold 12-15 people. People will push in front of you even if they just showed up and you have waited for the tram for 3 rounds. We started walking and would catch the turquesa tram which dropped us off close, but it meant grandma couldn't come because she couldn't walk that far. Kids water park. - It was great. Not nearly enough seating but it was wonderful. Our 7 year old got bored pretty easy though but the 5 yr old loved it. They had some drinks and snacks there. Towel - Never go for towels after 10 am. Not sure what happens but with this place maybe half full, they hardly ever had clean towels!! Not sure if they didn't order more when they opened fantasia and just used the same as the other resorts or what but if you weren't there first thing you didn't get one. Sometimes you could watch and see the drop off of cleans ones in the afternoon then rush up there with everyone else and get one. Chairs - we usually got chairs everywhere we went. people do put their towels on them and reserve though, even though it plainly says you can not. People should have to have some sort of personal item there as well. Like your shoes, you can't swim with your shoes on so leave them on the chairs. (unless of course you reserve your chairs first thing then take off for a few hours leaving only your towel there, as they certainly did). Shows - we didn't do a lot of the shows. The ones outside by the lobby were always full and there was never anywhere to sit so we didn't bother. the ones in the inside theatre area we saw a couple, lion king and one other, were pretty good. kids club - our boys went2 times to the kids club. They enjoyed both times. you need to make sure you go there to get your kids for lunch because they will not feed them. Not sure why but what ever. Ours were only there for 2 hours one day and 3 hours the other day. pool - the poole by our room was nice. It was quite though and a little boring. The big pool was good, hard to find chairs though. More entertainment, geared to younger people. bars - the more often you tipped, the better drink you got. drinks were usually good anyway, but more alcohol with tips. There was actually wait staff at the lobby bar. staff- most of the staff was very good. It did seem like walking through a high school with the amount of staff on their phones. One was actually playing a game on his phone when I went up to ask for something and I had to wait until he died on his game. Yes, I could see his phone and what he was playing. This is the service staff in some areas, not all. The grounds staff and the cleaning staff, were never like that. They always worked so hard, and it really shows. buffet. - we ate there a lot. Not by choice but by lack of other options. I do not like buffets to start with but when it is that or go hungry, you do it. The best part of the buffet for me was the pasta bar. They would make you whatever you wanted. It was fantastic, and my go to. It was rather repetitive otherwise. If you wanted a drink, you usually had to flag someone down or go get your own. More often than not, that's what we did. we were there a few times for breakfast and didn't have a single person come see us. Good thing the coffee in the room was so good. beach - the beach was great. beautiful sand, and people always cleaning. The sand fleas were horrible. When I got home I had to go to the dr and he said i had "a massive infection from insect bites" so that was horrible. So itchy!! Not the resorts fault but something to be aware of. so congrats, you made it to the end of my review. I was so upset when we were here. I have been to may places, including one in punta cana, and have paid less and received so much more. The service here is less than average. The grounds and "behind the scene workers" were top notch. They want more money for everything. If I had known that, I would have paid the small amount more for the other resort I wanted, and have been to there and other places, and received anything and everything I wanted, including room service, wait staff everywhere (beach, pools and all bars), free safe, free wifi everywhere, free kids activities, a la carte every night without reservations, and so much more. Next time I will know where to go. I will not be back to any Bahia Principe resorts anywhere. They are behind the times. Other resorts are including the "extras" in their "basics". Every all inclusive I have been to, has included a la carte restaurants every night. I haven't ever had to go to the buffet for supper. They need to change their policies and get with the times.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Will not go back 😞

Amenities were good, don pablo restaurant was excellent, nice and clean grounds. Plenty to do. Beach was ok, plenty of rocks. We found restaurant, bar and tram employees were nice and friendly. Lobby and front desk and security people either did not care or were downright rude to guests. We spent almost a full day in combined hours trying to fix a mistake they made on booking. Separated a family of 6 into 2 separate villas. Made us pack and unpack and still did not get it right. Big cockroache [... read more]s in our room 2 nights in a row. TV was turning off but front desk did not send anyone even after I asked to replace it. Security guard turned off lights while we were still at diamond lobby without any warning and wont turn them back on so we can gather our stuff without stumbling in the dark. Front desk did not want to send anyone to turn on lights so we had to use our cellphones as flashlights. We did not ask a whole lot or any special treatment. This is the kind of service you will get. We had to make do with our vacation. Should have spent a bit more money to go to a quality resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Check in nightmare

Upon arrival at front desk were told room wouldn't be ready until 3:00, so came back at that time only to be told it would be another hour. Each time we came back time to availability was extended. After four trips back and forth finally got room at 7pm. Than AC didn't initially seem to work. Cooled the room off later but in middle of night discovered puddle of water on floor. Was fixed next day. Despite bad start food was excellent. Pools and beach good. Kids loved the iguanas and Coat [... read more]is roaming the property. Entertainment wasn't worth sticking around for.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Great vacation

The hotel and grounds were beautiful. The beach was outstanding. Lots of shade everywhere. Food was great, friendly staff. We had issues with the toilet and safe in the room, but it was quickly fixed. Don Pablo restaurant was excellent, main buffet always clean with great selection. The beach buffet not so much, staff was sometimes inattentive. The evening shows need some improvement. In some areas sometimes there was a sewage smell, but it was not constant. Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Luxury Bahia a Principe Don Pablo Collection, Ambar Greesn- NOT five STAR

Grounds, common areas beautiful and well maintained, however, the food and most definitely the service diminish the five star rating to a big average three. Once past the beauty of the resort, you soon experience the lack lustre in the quality of the food. For example, Breakfast variety often cold, nothing was hot. Other than the coffee. Service staff with the exception of a very few were not welcoming, helpful nor efficient. More than not the language barrier hindered understanding. And, g [... read more]et this, we even experienced the rolling of the eyes! And were told on one occasion there was no coconut rum in a five star resort. The waitress actually could not be bothered to call to get a bottle restocked. Moreover, when my wife slipped in the bathroom due to the air unit leaking while we slept, not one staff member asked if she was hurt. They sent someone to fix it 25 minutes later. Using every towel in this so called five star bathroom to wipe up the water. Leaving us with NO towels until eight a.m. When house keeping went on duty. This occurred again the night before we left. This time I was the one to walk into the pool of water at three a.m. They came right away, again, using all towels. There is no consistency here in getting your concerns addressed. We will not be going back.

Huge resort. It had amazing food, the staff were extremely friday and very accommodating. One of the best resorts I have been too. I have been to 5 resorts in Jamaica and it was top 2 for sure. I woud reccomend this resort to anyone.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Wonderful resort, with exceptions.

This is my third time at this resort. It is a wonderful place. The grounds are beautiful, the beaches, although not Cuba type beaches, are wonderful, the people are mostly wonderful, the food is delicious and plentiful, and if you have good weather, it can be an overall amazing experience. For a 5 star resort, it does come close to offering the same treatments of what one would come to expect from a 5 star resort outside Canada/U.S. Except, there is no consistency. In the three times I went [... read more], this was the first time that I actually experienced 5 star service in every way. Having a personal butler was very nice. Ours was called Darwin. He was exceptional. He did not miss one day of looking us up and making sure all was well in our room/requests. He also left wonderful surprises for us a couple of evenings during turn down service. Another really amazing person was our mini-bar re-stocker named Felipe. He was a kind, compassionate and truly caring person. I had an accident on the 4th day of my vacation. I slipped and fell on the landing. It had just rained and the tiles were all wet. Despite my carefulness, it still happened. Everyone at the resort was wonderful in the way they took care of me, getting me to the hospital, accommodating special room service, late check out, etc. until my departure. It is a very pleasant place to visit. The choice of gourmet, a la carte restaurants is amazing. At this particular hotel, you can have access to all of them, and if you want to repeat a place, you can. We were booked for one every night, except that with the accident, we could only go to three of them. Maiko, a Japanese restaurant, has delicious food (although definitely not typical Japanese); Los Corales, a Brazilian restaurant on the beach, also offers delicious fare (mostly charcoal grilled meats), and an experience; Frutto del Mar, a seafood restaurant, had excellent fare as well. Top class food at each of them. Too bad we didn't make it to the other ones. The last time we went, we were in a 7 day hurricane, so we didn't dine out. Prior to that, those amenities were not offered. If you are a foodie, going to the a la carte restaurants is a must! Although the buffets are also well stocked with a large variety. Most of the food on their menus are good as well. Now, for the cons: this is the third time we visit, and the third time they didn't give us the room we paid for. Their website offers one or two beds, and we have always asked for two beds, but only ever get one king sized and one sofa bed. My husband slept on the sofa bed for several nights and got a very bad back ache. Our butler attempted to get us a second bed in the very small room we were in (they definitely have larger rooms, as in my past experience), but the mattress that arrived was not only broken, but filthy beyond measure. It was probably garbage ready, but they tried to use it. We refused it. This made me wonder, and I pulled off the sheets to the regular king sized bed, and lo and behold, the mattress was also filthy. I was shocked and disgusted that this 5 star resort were using such filthy mattresses for their well paying guests. There was also a problem with the floors. The bathroom especially, had sticky stuff on the floor by the toilet (anyone can figure this out), and they never washed it. Even after we complained at reception and to the concierge. They told us they don't wash the floor daily! The only time we saw an extra effort being made was after we spoke with our butler. The following day, the maid and what seemed like her supervisor came in the room and did a much better job of cleaning it together. The bathroom floor, however, although better than before was still not totally clean. So, being borderline OCD, this stuff drove me nuts. The last two vacations, prior to this one, the maids were very, very nice and thorough. They would also leave decorated towels on the bed after making it. Not this one. I felt she was lazy. She'd be in and out of our room within 10-12 minutes!! With the exception of when she came in with her supervisor. Two of them cleaning took almost 25 minutes... what a difference. In any case, this was most disturbing. If you have mobility issues, and need a wheel chair, bring your own. The hotel had to scramble to get me a wheel chair after the accident, and the best they could do was a broken one, which tested my husband's patience!! So bring your own. There are trolleys that take you just about anywhere you want to go on the resort. Also, if you get a butler like we did, he comes with a club car for personal service. Because I am unable to walk long distances, he was very helpful in this area. The first part of our vacation was wonderful. Also to keep in mind, they now have what the call "Premiere". These are vacation rental owners who have their own buildings and their own beach. If you are in building 47, you will be facing their dedicated beach and you are not allowed on it. There are two other beaches for you to use. There is an adult beach only by the infinity pool, and then a family friendly one, across from the pool closest to this building 47. Finally, I found this resort much busier than the last two times I went, and yet this was considered low season. I fear that these vacation rental people have crowded the place. They also have new adult only buildings, which of course add to the crowding. What bothered me most about this adult only beach was that chairs would be 'saved' as early as 6 a.m. and some of the occupants never showed up, all day long. We suspect they stayed at the infinity pool. So they reserved chairs that could be accommodating people who really want to be on the beach. There aren't enough to go around, so I can't imagine what high season would be like! If you are okay with a very large resort, lots of people, and questionable room cleanliness (every maid is different, but I wonder about the mattresses); then what the rest of this resort offers is amazing. I do wish I could return, but all to be seen.

Bahia Principe Escape Samana: Amazing Experience

The Resort was absolutely stunning. Food was amazing & felt like I was on a retreat. The staff treated me & my wife like royalty . We were celebrating our 40 Year anniversary & couldn't of picked a better place. We recently visited the Bahia Principe in Jamaica, & this one was defiantly our favorite. We will continue to recommendi Bahia Principe resorts to our family & friends.
