Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: A great time, but a few areas could be improved

I've been to Cuba about 20 times now for work and play. It's my third time at Ensenachos, mostly because of their incredible tennis pro, Reno, and the amazing musicians, who perform in the lobby and at the sports bar by the beach. The gardeners are also to be commended and the staff are all very nice. The food this time was not up to previous standards, especially in the buffet. And for the first time, we had problems with bugs (he-hens ?), which are very irritating but tend to be seasonal and o [... read more]nly out early morning and early evening. I'd recommend bringing a repellent with high DEET content for this time of year (April). I don't know if the hotel can deal with this problem. There were trucks spraying pesticides on a couple of occasions.

Hotel Mojito: Can't wait to go back

I visited a week ago with 3 friends. The beach has soft sand with gentle waves and crystal clear water. The entertainment was a high level, especially the cigar bar band. The food was big on variety and freshness. It was fully booked however the staff were organized, hard working and unfailingly sweet tempered. We had a minor problem in our room which was promptly solved. I would recommend the top floor rooms for the breeze and view. Also, bring your own beach towel !

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful Vacation!

My husband and I stayed at the Iberostar from April 3rd to the 10th. We had a room overlooking the pool in building 7 on the second floor, as requested. We found the service wonderful from the front desk staff to the bartenders! The layout of the resort is great - not very large and easy to find your way around. The food was better than most all-inclusives we have stayed at and the nightly entertainment was above-average too. We hired a taxi and took the cable car up the mountain which was close by and enjoyed some amazing views - well worth checking it out! We liked the beach as it was wide and offered lots of areas for shade or full sun. The pool was very nice as well - large with a whirlpool in the center and a great swim up bar. We are confident we will return to this resort!

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Enjoyable stay

Solid hotel, very good value for the price, staff was very attentive and well trained. Beach chairs were all well maintaned or new and also plentiful. We did not have to go early in the morning to reserve a cabana or chairs on the beach, this is almost unheard of in Cuba.

Hotel Mojito: Solid resort

I would rank the Mojito a solid 3.5. It seems a bit tired overall but the staff were lovely, both pools were nice, the food was excellent - a large variety and they had a great Cuban food section which was wonderful. We were on the second floor and I missed not having a balcony to hang wet towels/bathing suits/etc. The beach was beautiful. It was very close to the airport which was nice as we arrived quite late. Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Nice place but not 4 star

We were looking for a last minute deal at a 4 star. The place is rated 4-5 stars but it is closer to a 3+ star. The room was comfortable and clean. Furnishings could use updating. Pool and beach areas were in fair to good shape. The entertainment crew was lethargic at best. The wait staff were very nice and attentive. The food was fair except for the jerk chicken which my husband said was great. The drinks were good.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Very good resort

Beautiful Grounds, amazing beach, good food, large rooms, ours needed a renovation, but was still nice. Spent very little time in the room. This is a quiet, not too big resort,with the nicest people working there, super friendly crew.

Hotel Mojito: Nice time!

The grounds were pleasantly green and clean. The cleanliness of the public washrooms on the property was acceptable. The challenge was keeping up with negligent tourists. We stayed in a standard room which was in decent condition, although the decor was dated and the wall lights behind the bed were not working. Generally, the food offered at the buffet restaurant was ample in variety and tasted good, for the most part. We found lunches were best. It would be good if there were 2 cooks there instead of just one. The coffee served in the restaurant was horrible. However, you could get servers to pick up Espresso and other types of coffee at the lounge bar. The pools were very nice. The first couple of days of our stay, the temperature was a little cool, but after that, it was perfect. It was hard to get a spot under the shade by the pool unless you arrived early in the morning and "reserved" chairs by leaving towels or other items on top. It seemed like many people would reserve chairs and not come back for several hours. It would be better if staff could control this to make it fair for everyone. The entertainment staff were wonderful and the nightly entertainment was fun. We had a lovely time and would return to this resort.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: ibostar-cozumel

This is an amazing resort. The staff works very hard to make every part of your stay a pleasure.The food is great. Rooms are in need of updates, but clean and reasonable. The grounds are amazing. The overall experience is excellent and all the positive far outway any negative.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Good for the price

The beach was amazing as were the resort staff. The room had ants, given since it was a tropical destination. The food was typical all inclusive buffet style food. Definitely a smaller, quieter resort. Little music on the beach and the resort seemed to shut down at 10 pm. But because it was a smaller resort, the hotel staff got to know you pretty well. Request a top floor bungalow.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great Location! -- (not so great food)

This is a smaller resort which has its perks … seconds to the beach or pool with great views from the superior ocean view rooms. Always a breeze on the beach and the balcony! Great option for kite surfers. The standard rooms are not renovated and therefore need great improvements. If we had not been in the upgraded room the vacation would have been drastically different-- the value for us was all in the location to the pool and beach -- the views and the room quality. Unfortunately the food w [... read more]as not what we expected and our expectations were already low based on feedback on cuba's cuisine. The meat and fish options were rarely cooked properly ( raw pork burgers are scary!) and the selection at the buffet, beach and pool bar was minimal, flavourless, and rarely rotated. The donut station in the morning was a kid favourite and the pizza station was the safest and most consistent option. Pasta station was plain but also a safe bet unless you got garlic… which was not shucked and roots still attached?!. We expected higher quality at the a la carte options but frankly the buffet was better. The resort may want to consider some food handling training and menu reviews as I find it hard to believe that someone doesn't know how to prepare garlic and that raw meat will make people sick. Service was great and the staff very friendly overall. Our room was cleaned daily. The beach and pool staff were engaging and fun with both adults and kids. The entertainment was great in the evenings with multiple options in the lobby and theatre. Overall it is a good value if you are in an upgraded ocean view room and are only looking for some sun and beach time but if food is an important component of your vacation …this is not the resort for you. I would explore other resorts before recommending this one. However, if the food was improved upon it could be a real contender.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Above average,not a 5 star

Traveled with wife and 10 year old son. Beach was beautiful,lots of swimming pools everywhere on resort(well maintained). No issues getting chairs at beach or poolside. Main buffet lots of variety/ a la cartes need some work. Ate at Cuban, Italian,Tex-Mex and Gourmet. Cuban excellent lobster(small portion), Italian(bland, worst meal I had at resort, Tex-Mex (only open Fri,Sat,Sun),reservation Friday night first seating and told they were out of tortillas. Rooms clean,always at least warm water for shower. Had read reviews regarding how hard beds were( reviews were right). Management surprised my wife with a nice little gift during our stay as she was celebrating a special birthday while there(thanks to them).Overall we had a great time. This was our third time to Varadero and this resort would rank third behind the other two.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: loved this resort

This resort was the cleanest, most beautiful resort I have stayed in. The service was topnotch from all the workers. We especially enjoyed the waitresses in the lobby. They were so friendly and efficient. The bartenders work so hard but still maintain a cheerful attitude, particularly the guys at the beach bar. Food was terrific in all buffets and the 3 al a carts we tried. Especially enjoyed the Japanese one. The only negative I have is the rocky part of the beach. It was great the first few da [... read more]ys when we could swim in an area where there were no rocks but in the later part of the week an undertow there meant we had to go to an area where rocks were an issue. Not a huge thing, just not as good.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Beautiful Resort

When we arrived I saw a beautiful , clean resort with every Staff being very friendly and with a smile on their faces. Our room was nice and the pool view from our balcony was great. Lots to choose from at the restaurants. The beach was so clean and there were so many activities to get involved in we were busy with quite a few of them everyday.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: iberostar daquiri not laguna azul

holiday was really great at the daiquiri and we will be going back probably in December of this year please update your records as we have not been to the laguna Azul for over a year we would however recommend the daiquiri very highly for those people who would enjoy aquietand relaxing vacation

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Disappointed

THIS resort was recommended by someone who had been there. The name Iberostar brings with it an anticipation of a good experience but it was not the case. The room was not satisfactory for a 4 1/2 star resort. I have stayed many times at resorts. There was a lampshade missing. The toilet didn't flush properly. The front desk was notified of this but nothing was done about the lampshade or the toilet. It was a ground floor room but there was no barrier to the outside. Mr. cockroach also visited u [... read more]s the next morning. When entering the room there was a distinctive odor. Fortunately , when we met with the Transat rep. the next morning she offered an upgrade to another Iberostar because our resort was overbooked. She did not offer this because we were dissatisfied because she was not aware of the dissatisfaction. We viewed the offer and visited the other resort before we said yes. The other resort was far superior to the one we were in. We felt relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the holiday. We were transferred to the Iberostar Veradero.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Resort

We were impressed, the rooms were nice and we had no problem with the food. The grounds are very nice and the 3 swimming pools are awesome. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had absolutely no complaints, except we could not stay longer. This will definetly be a place we visit again.

Hotel Mojito: Amazing resort

Love it here. Been six times. Food is good. People are GREAT !!!!! If your looking to take kids with you, this is the place. The workers LOVE the kids. Although the rooms are a bit tired they are clean ... We don't spend much time in them so I'm ok with that. Each time we go there are things updated.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: The resort was everything that was advertised

The resort was exceptional in its layout, quality of staff and food provided. The beach was beautiful and staff were warm and friendly. The rooms were clean and modern and the amenities were top notch.
