Melia Las Dunas: Average resort

Never enough towels and Internet was not working food awful my son got married there and his wedding meal was terrible the steak was rubber the soup had no flavour. The only good thing was the cake. -11

Melia Las Dunas: Ok, not great...but ok

Let's say it's just an average at best resort, nothing terrible and nothing great...property is clean with nice gardens and the rooms are decent but there are many things throughout the resort in a state of disrepair...and good luck getting clean towels. I was surprised at the lack of tipping at the restaurants and bars but noticed my service was still ridiculously slow even though I tipped regularly...Yanet at the lobby bar was the only great bartender... Food is typical "eat cautiously" Cuban  [... read more]fare...you won't starve but you should be weary of what you eat... A la Carte restaurants are only good for a formal dining experience, the food is better in the buffets... The beach and water are beautiful, a bit narrow at some places, but you can walk a long ways and explore a lot of shoreline. The adult pool is a complete dead zone...no music, no activities and the water is outright cold. Outdoor live local music and dancing every night is good...the stage performances are a bit of a challenge to watch though... It's a long trip by bus from the airport and there isn't much else there to do if you want to explore the local culture... The Melia resort in Dominican/Punta Cana, was a much better resort...

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Nice resort

Hotel is dated and could use some upgrading. Grounds are mature and well kept. Our room had a smell of previous smokers which lingered all week even when we opened the balcony doors to air it out. Could not get a glass of white wine anywhere on the resort but yet they had vendors selling it outside the buffet that you could take in with you. Disappointing as I am not a beer drinker.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Disappointing

Accommodations leave much to be desired. Bathroom was covered in black mold, twice we had no water. Bed was broken. Food selection was very limited. Public working bathrooms were scarce. Grounds are well kept. Pool and beach are beautiful. Staff are fantastic.

Memories Paraiso: Absolutely fabulous resort

My wife and I spent one week at Memories Pariso Resort in Cayo Santa Maria Cuba and it was one of the best vacations we have had. Beautiful resort, great food, wonderful people( smile and they will smile) unbelevable beach probably the best one of all the places we have gone. Would go back tomorrow.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Fabulous resort

Just retuned on March 3rd. Stayed 7 nights in building 25. Great area. Close to beach, pool and 24hr snack bar. As soon as you arrive the view from lobby is spectacular. Rooms were modern king bed and rain shower was nice. We stayed on ground floor. Very private. Food best we have had in cayo Santa Maria. We've stayed at eurostar and star fish in past year. We had the lobster lunch at beach for 20 cuc. It's worth the $. Lobby has great views don't miss the guitarist playing Beatles and Eric Clap [... read more]ton. Entertainment crew amazing. Miss you Janie. She is the lead entertainer and Alex and Dylan will never forget you!! Only complaint is beach paths are not well marked. We hope to come back again

Melia Las Dunas: Melia las dunas cayo Santa Maria

This was my first time to Cuba and can say I can't see me going back!!! Resort was ok very large. Was on ground level and would recommend anyone ever going there to request top floor as bottom is very musty smelling and lots and lots of little ants everywhere in room. Took us 4 days and then a 2 hr wait to get pool towels. We never had hot water once and was lucky if it was warm. She would take our dirty wet towels and make pretty things with them on our beds. Would give her 4 towels to get 2 back. I know the food in Cuba isn't the greatest anywhere but the food was edible but was always cold (rice, potatoes, meat) unless u got them to cook the chicken right in front of you. Even the food off the bbq was cold! Had a few and I mean 2 good waiters one was awesome but rest were very poor and slack. Our sunwing rep that was there was very ignorant. Beach was beautiful. Excursions were ok but not much for adventurous ones( no buggies, zip line, white water or even just horse back riding) I don't drink much but found drinks at resort awful. Even some of the water tastes bad :( and yes it was bottled. Maybe I'm just getting picky in my old age I dunno but I prefer Dominican Republic. The resort is not considered a 4.5* in my books but like I say I've never been to Cuba before so can not compare there.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: good and bad

the resort is very lush and beautiful to look at . the gardeners do a fantastic job the spa pool area is clean and quiet, easy to find a lounger and alberto is there to help with any request you have. The drinks flow freely although there is only 1 working washroom stall the beaches are the best , no coral or rocks , no need to watch where you put your feet in the water. the waiter service on the beach is a bonus The lobby is lively at night but after 11 it is quiet with no other choices for act [... read more]ivity so its early to bed the room is big but not as clean in the corners as i like the linens are old and stained. the towels are just as stained. not nice to look at! the resort is huge and the shuttles are few and far between so lots and lots of walking the buffet is average as well as average a la cartes. nothing special bring a flashlight as the paths are not well lit and its hard to find your way as the signs are not lit the staff , pool and beaches are the highlight of this resort. the next question is would i recommend it to a friend, well. it depends , some travel with less expectations than others but if it was to recommend to a seasoned traveller, no i would not

Melia Las Dunas: Very nice resort

The grounds are beautiful and lush. Very clean, pools are awesome and big. Unfortunately the awesome beach is getting smaller, but not much you can do about Mother Nature. All the staff are wonderful and very attentive, ( a smile goes a long way) We always found plenty to eat , lots of veggies, awesome desserts especially ice cream. Food was not bland like I've had before at other Cuban resorts. I would go back again. My main complaint is, the resort is very, very big.

Melia Las Dunas: beautiful beach

This resort is quite big but beca use it is divided into two sections it doesnt feel huge at all. The rooms are spacious and the open air lobby is very attractive and comfortable. A great meeting place! The resort is well laid out and has a friendly , relaxed feel. It was active without the constant loud thumping music of some other resorts. Valentin Perla Blanca: Love the People

The staff treated us great. Food was disappointing. Room had someone's underwear in drawer. Sheet's were dirty. Enjoyed the entertainment. Beach and pool was fantastic. The major thing that was lacking was fruit and vegetables.

Melia Las Dunas: Better than expected resort

Nicely laid out resort, Nice beach, but always the same problem getting a beach chair. The food was tasty but same choices every night. Need theme nights like other countries resorts. The people are pleasant when they find the time to talk to you. Staff seem to go out of their way to ignore you. Hard to get a drink in evenings at main bar, waited 25 minutes to get served. Needless to say place is understaffed. Entertainment was above average to places we have stayed.

Valentin Perla Blanca: beautiful but too large!

the resort is very nice, welcoming and pretty. However very large, lots of people and the staff seemed to have a hard time keeping up on things. I am very understanding and forgiving and get that things happen, supplies run out, etc...but for days on end to be out of important things is inexcusable. For example, we arrive on a Sunday the resort was completely out of white wine until Thursday! Neither of the two snack bars had french fries until Friday! And there was a day that the entire resort  [... read more]was out of bread- like all bread, buns, toasts, etc!!! One large buffet available for breakfast and dinner and they didn't even open half of it! One morning I waited in line to get an omelet for about 30 mins!!! These are not small mishaps that easily overlooked. Now they have probably the most beautiful beach area i've ever seen and two giant pools. Tho you have have to get up at dawn to get a chair! Rooms are nice and clean but the comfort of the bed could definitely use some improvement.

Memories Paraiso: Fun Times

Fun week at Memories Paraiso in Cuba. Beach area is outstanding. Loved the laid back atmosphere. More than enough variety of food around the resort. Well kept and clean, although a bit tired looking. Great value for the cost. Friends are going there in 2 weeks, wish we were going with them. Hu Hah!!!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Beautiful spot

The resort is very nice. The grounds are very well maintained. Plenty of pools but the beaches is where you want to be. Just beautiful. The staff are superfriendly and there is plenty of entertainment and activities. Great place.

Memories Paraiso: Beautiful Beach

The beach is incredible and a thing of beauty. While we enjoyed our time, the hotel requires some tlc, an example the bed pillows definitely require cleaning, we had requested new pillows and ended up in the same situation. The a la carte restaurants ran out of some entrees and lacked overall ambiance. The servers while very polite need to pay attention to the patriots upon arrival rather than their favourites to make sure everyone is treated fairly and all served on a first come first serve bas [... read more]is, it didn't appear to make a difference whether you tipped or not. Some outside dining area would be fabulous.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: SOME CAUTIONS

This is a beautiful resort, so much potential! Unfortunately, poorly managed in some aspects. Fabulous beach, well maintained grounds, clean rooms but the food well below par (even for Cuba). We didn't go hungry, but the food was not good or plentiful, even the restaurants ran out of food. Plumbing problems (many toilets on the grounds out of service, not good when you have stomach issues) Room towels were at a minimum. We enjoyed our speed boat excursion.This is a definite value vacation!

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: It was ok

Since I've been to Cuba 9 times. ..this resort wasn't as good as the other 8 I've been too. I'm not picky...but the food wasn't as good as what I've had...meaning the selection! ! I've never been to a resort that didn't have simple things like pizza...pancakes. .just no variety.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Loved it

Amazing service, staff, clean large rooms, great pools and beautiful beautiful beaches (yes more than one beach) grounds are lush and beautifully kept by hardworking gardeners. Rooms could use a touch of paint but are otherwise beautiful with large private balconies. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Great resort. Fantastic staff!!!! Beautiful beach. Would definitely go back again. Resort was well kept. All bathrooms were very clean and had toilet seats. Don't believe the bad reviews. Pool bar staff were awesome. Please remember to tip. The staff work very hard and have very long days to make your stay very enjoyable!!! Hats off to Hotel CSM.
