Catalonia Royal Tulum: Fun and Relaxing at the same time!!
Absolutely loved the charm of this Mexican authentic resort!
Not a lot of glass and marble, the grounds are like walking through a romantic jungle.
The staff members are always smiling and ready to make sure you get everything you're looking for out of your trip.

Riu Caribe Cancun: Beautiful beach
The beach was fantastic!!! Entertainment was really good - rooms clean, facilities clean. Friendly staff. The salad bar was yummy, omelets were good, fresh fruit yea great… however, the rest of the food was not great. The most disappointing was the Mexican restaurant… it was horrible and we were in Mexico ( how embarrassing). The drinks were good. If you want a real cappuccino go to the sports bar.
If I go back it would be for the beach. I stayed at NYX in cancun three months prior. The f[... read more]ood there was incredible- the best I have ever had a resort. But the beach was super wavy and hard to swim. Too bad a high end name like Riu can’t up the food quality and a small place like NYX is able to provide gourmet food.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Relaxing Holiday
Overall the resort and the staff at the resort were wonderful. The room, and especially the bed, was very comfortable, and we spent much time on our well-equipped personal patio (with easy access to the beer fridge) The resort is quite small so it was easy to get around. The food was good and plentiful. The beach was not the greatest we have seen. It is quite rocky near the shore so surf shoes are needed. The pools were great, but one big problem was the access to most of the pools was dif[... read more]ficult for someone with a mobility problem (e.g., my wife). Stairs with railing access, as opposed to just ladders, would make getting in and out of the pools much easier for older folks. The adult only pool was the exception with stair access but often the music was a bit too loud and geared to a young adult crowd (i.e., way too much rap). On another note, tripcentral was very helpful prior to the trip (thanks Tammy) and Westjet and airport transport service was great at getting my wife wheelchair help at the airport.

Tropicana Hotel: Nice stay
Check in was quick and easy. I was upgraded to an ocean view room. The room was large and clean. No wifi in the room, but it was easily available in the lobby so that was not a problem. The bed was a bit hard, but I was able to sleep well. I was visiting friends who live in PV so I did not take advantage of the beach or pool areas. I would stay here again.

Allegro Cozumel: What a great family trip!
First of all, Cozumel is such a beautiful island. The weather was fantastic and the atmosphere is so subdued. The hotel Allegro is not a large resort Which was great fir us with kids and an elder. Food was very good. The beach was beautiful. But there were weedy areas. Service was great! Overall I would recommend this resort for a nice family get away!
The resort was perfect, not too big. Pool area was awesome, weren't all squeezed in one small area. Food was delicious with plenty of options. The beach was good, but unfortunately the seaweed took over and were not able to go into the ocean for a few days, but that is outside of the resorts control.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Tropical paradise
The resort grounds are lush with tropical plants. The beach is beautiful blues and turquoise. They could have had more staff present at the bars and buffets as there were lines at the pool bars and not enough staff at the buffet. There was little to no beach service even though it is advertised as such. The entertainment was good. The sports bar at night should have been adults only yet they allowed children in which was not appropriate. The room was adequate with comfortable beds and pillows. Crown Paradise Club: Great resort for families
The hotel was well kept and beautiful. It was evident at first that this resort is ideal for families and young children! As an adult couple it had less activities or entertainment at night. The adult pool and bar was the best part of the resort and Francisco the bartender was incredible and extremely attentive.

Management at this resort KNOW how to train all guest emplyees who have contact with guests. The complete atmosphere was GREAT. One person that stood out in minds was our butler, named Jose. Vamar Vallarta: The Vamar Nightmare
This was our third time in Vallarta and our first time at the Vamar Resort.
And this is the first review I have ever written.
We called the Vamar to confirmed our room three times, once when we booked to insure we had the correct room, a second time before we left for the airport and again when our plan was delayed to advise them we would be late and if we could get a late supper. All three times we were assured we had a Superior Balcony Room and we were assured they would provide us with[... read more] a late supper.
When we arrived Monday we were informed the resort was fully booked and they could not give us a Superior Balcony Room but we could stay in one of their villas and then move to our promised room on Tuesday. They had received our phone call as they had a note from the person we talked to supply us with a supper. (So from 10am when we called to 9pm when we arrived they gave away our room or we were lied to that our room was confirmed).
The villa was a 3 story walk up. The room was dark, it had very little in decor, the floor, kitchen sink, bathroom was dirty. The TV did not work. The bathroom sink leaked so much they placed a towel under it which was so wet it dripped when we moved it. We had to move it to the balcony as it smelled.
The bedroom air conditioner was so loud we had to turn it off to sleep. The shower only had hot water, no cold, so we could not shower.
The bedroom did not have any side table lamps, only the ceiling light.
The safe had no lock so could not be used.
The curtains had several holes in them.
The area was large and roomy.
On Tuesday we attended the front desk and again we were told the resort was full, no one checked out, and no Superior Balcony Room was available. We told the front desk person of the problems with the room. We told her we could stay in the room if the shower cold water was repaired, the basin sink leak was repaired, the kitchen sink was cleaned, we had a safe, the TV was repaired, the bedroom air conditioner was repaired, and if they could supply side table lights in the bedroom. They gave us a lock for the safe which worked. (We talked to 2 couples who arrived Tuesday morning and received a Superior Balcony Room obviously they did not save one for us as promised, obviously others had moved out and we were lied to again)
When we returned to our room about 6pm we found nothing done, the shower was not fixed, the lamps were not supplied, the basin sink was not fixed ,the kitchen sink was still dirty, the air conditioner was not fixed, the the TV was not fixed.
My wife was stressed out so much it ruined my Valentine surprise, she was ready to return home. I notified the Sunwing rep by email of our predicament. I received a return email advising a complaint has been lodged with the resort and it should be rectified the next morning.
We had to sleep on the couches that night as the air conditioner in the bedroom was not repaired and it was hot.
On Wednesday we waited at the Concierge desk until she showed up. She indicated she had received the complaint from Sunwing and she would insure we were placed in a room, which we had paid for, that very day.
She called about 11:00am and indicated she would show us a few rooms from which we could chose. She showed us two rooms on the first floor and one on the second floor. We chose the second floor one. The room had not been made up yet, the TV was working, however, the patio doors would not close fully, the shower drain was blocked, The door to the bathroom did not fully close, the hardware on the bathroom door knob was loose to falling off, the blinds over the kitchen sink would not fully close.
The Concierge called Maintenance to attend the room right away, which they did, and he repaired the door hardware, the shower drain and adjusted the patio doors. We took the room as we were tired of living out of the suitcases and at least we could shower after 3 days. The Concierge said the room would be cleaned and ready for us by 3. We returned at 3, the room was made up. However we found an old pair of sneakers along with dirt and dust under the bed and the TV was not working. We advised the Concierge and she sent maintenance back to the room to fix the TV which he did. The dirt and dust under the bed was never attended to.
On Thursday the toilet was plugged. I informed the front desk. When we returned someone left an extra roll of toilet paper, the toilet was still plugged. I informed the Concierge who sent maintenance to unplug it.
On Friday the air conditioner would not blow cold air. I advised the front desk who sent someone to repair it. On Saturday we noticed the we could not control the temperature of the air conditioner. It either blew cold air or we had to shut it off.
By this time we were totally frustrated, for the first 5 days of our vacation consisted mostly of complaining about issues with our room and we were tired of complaining.
We wanted to bring a guest in for a visit. I went to the front desk and asked what a day pass would cost, they informed be a day pass would cost about 950 pesos. I agreed to buy one but was told the resort was full and she could not give me a pass. I told her the guest was only coming for a visit and not staying but using the pool and for lunch. After much discussion she sold me a lunch voucher for the beach snack bar for about 300 pesos but without a wrist band. I spoke to the snack bar attendant and gave her the voucher, no problem. About 4 in the afternoon an employee noticed she did not have an wrist band and asked her to leave. We tried to explain to him we had a voucher for the snack bar issued by the front desk. He did not understand and insisted she needed a wrist band to stay.
Embarrassed we left the resort and we went for drinks at a restaurant at the Marina before placing her on the bus.
I found the staff friendly and eager to help however they do not seem to be very well trained. The policies, if they exist, are not patron friendly, do not empower the staff and/or not well communicated.
For example alcoholic drinks are only available after 11:30am. Most other resorts we have been to either do not have closing hours or serve drinks in the early morning.
For example when I asked about bringing in a guest it was a hassle, I had to go through several staff at the front desk as no one seemed to know had to handle it or what the prices were until someone found a sheet with the meal prices. Other resorts we were able to call the desk and then go down and pay and pick up the pass.
For example you can only make a reservation for the Italian or seafood restaurant by attending the front desk from 7am to 8am of the day you want to reserve. Often there are several people lined up at the desk and it takes a long time to make the reservation. At other resorts we were able to make a reservation a day or two ahead of time.
Several times we would request something only to be told they could not help, then if we make the same request from another staff they were only to happy to oblige.
Quality control is non existent, check out the bent and mismatched cutlery in every restaurant, except the Italian restaurant, chipped and cracked cups and glasses, the poor condition of the rooms, the lack of control of assigning rooms (we meet an other couple from BC who had to spend 2 nights at the villa, they were told the resort was fully booked but they would be moved the next day, they spent two nights in the villa and were very frustrated. Apparently non of our concerns were repaired), and many other issues such as no coffee in the rooms, bottled water has to be purchased or you can refill bottles from machines on each floor, internet connectivity is non existent in the rooms and very poor even in the lobby and restaurants.
The grounds and pools are very well maintained. The location is great. The sea food restaurant and Italian restaurant are very good. The buffet food is OK and plentiful.
It is a shame the resort is so poorly run.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Best vacation resort in Mexico!
Entertainment was diverse enough to suit many tastes, food was amazing, many dishes were gluten free and the hostess asked every time if there were any food allergies. Drinks were served promptly with very little waiting time. Servers, groundskeepers, hostesses, waiters, and housekeeping staff were all friendly and appreciative of any comments on how lovely the resort was. They seemed genuinely proud of their work. Most other travellers we met have been coming to this resort numerous times, now [... read more]we know why! Rooms were well kept, spacious, and beautifully maintained. We are already planning our next vacation at you're beautiful resort! Suggestions: would like to see more benches along the walkways, for those that have knee or hip issues but still want to walk it would be more convenient to have a spot to sit while waiting for a trolley or just need a break from walking.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Hotel Amazingly Beautiful.
We had a great time, Good Health selection of Food, well prepared, variety to choose, rooms, clean, appreciate they share the same respect for environmental concerns.
Staff great! I had an incident, fell and bruised my knee Life guard was there within minutes.
Great Family resort.
Sports Team was amazing, fantastic shows, entertainment, fitness - great rejuvenation for the week.
Feedback!
Very disappointed that the entire beach was not usable - stinged smelled and piles of weeds. On[... read more]ly 2 workmen was seen daily to clean up. Management did not put in any effort or shown any respect into ensuring to "Having the Beach Ready" for Spring Break, as did the other Hotels next block.
Due to this every morning guests were up at 5:30 a.m.to secure lounge chairs at the pool side. "Lounge Chair Wars" Cabanas were not adequate enough to accommodate all of the rush - Did not get my money's worth!
This was critical, the most important reason for my trip. Be on the Beach and be in "Natural Salt Water"
Mobility - to get around the resort, more Carts were available for VIPS (Time Share) some were empty driving around, yet will not pick up anyone - Consideration should be give - that all are equal as human. If it is empty then utilized - Alll are Your Guest.
However - I will visit this resort again - Amazing Staff!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: amazing resort
Everything was excellent. Lots of activity options and many pools to choose from. Love the water slides. Very friendly staff. Food was amazing.
Only issues for our family was the height restriction for the slides and the fact that there are no washrooms by the children area (slides/pirate ship). Far to walk to bring kids to the washroom when in this area.

Park Royal Beach Huatulco: first and last time in this hotel
I am not usually someone who writes reviews, but I felt that I had to write one for this resort. This was the worst hotel that I've stayed in Huatulco! Its located on a hill and to get to the beach you have to wait too long for the cart to take you there.
The beach is very small and it is more competitive than usual to get a palapa for shade, you have to get up very early in the morning. It is very noisy with loud entertainment and music all day long on the beach.
Rooms were clean, mattress[... read more]es were very stiff, with fridge that offered water only, no soft drinks or beer.
The food is the same everyday and not too many choices and everything is cooked in advance. There is no grill stations like in other resorts for meat, fish or pasta.. Would not return.

GR Solaris: GR Caribe
We were supposed to stay at GR Solaris, but due to the 24-hour flight delay by Sunwing, our room was no longer available for this Sunwing all-inclusive package. They 'upgraded' us to the quieter GR Caribe. Some may prefer the Spanish style architecture to the more modern hotels. My one issue was the food in all of their restaurants - all the ingredients were there, but the dishes were not tasty nor flavourful. Made me wonder if there was a head chef.
