Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Awesome resort

The room was quite outdated but the beach makes you forget all about it. Most staff is very friendly. Food is not that great, but we were expecting that to be the case. Well worth the money and would go again.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Good time!

The bus ride from the airport to the resort was less than impressive. No working toilet so we pulled over, next to the highway, for the bathroom. It was disgusting. The ride from the resort to the airport was much better. 1.5-2 hours is a long haul regardless. Front desk staff were helpful and timely. Room was clean and kept stocked. Beds were uncomfortable. Grounds were kept well. Managing cigarette butts must be a challenge. ALOT of walking which was great! As a non smoker I truly struggled as all common areas allowed smoking (not the buffet area though). Any entertainment I couldn’t partake for cigarette smoke. The beach is spectacular! Never struggled for a lounger. Entertainment crew are outstanding! Food was good yet repetitive.

Hotel Rancho Luna: Good resort

Staff where more than helpful . Food was good in general .Rooms are. Dated need to be upgraded.pool and pool bar where alright but bar did have enough tables and chairs lots lounge chairs.beach and buffet in general was good .the beach was not good ocean full of weeds and not that big . For the price I paid I would go back. Good value for what I spent.

Melia Cayo Coco: Wonderful staff and beaches

Enjoyed our weeklong stay at Malia Cayo Coco. The staff was so welcoming and kind, and the beaches were amazing - easily the best part of the trip. Our first time in Cuba was amazing. We loved the lagoon view suites.

Grand Memories Varadero: Worst ever.. I want my money back

This was the most unsanitary place on earth.. we tried to get flights outta there but Sunwing wouldn’t… I will be fighting for my money back.. there were so many things wrong and unsanitary! No running water for 12 hours in the whole resort including the rooms.. people were just pooing until the toilets were over flowing.. no place to wash your hands or the STAFF HANDS.. The septic over flowed from one of the buildings and the poo was everywhere on the lawns and the pool had to be closed for [... read more] 2 days.. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CONDEMNED!! My husband and I are very sick after coming home and I’m going to see my dr about mold testing.. the place was covered in mold.. all of the rooms..I can’t believe Sunwing would not help us when it was such an unhealthy environment!! I’m getting my money back if I have to get a lawyer..

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Staff 7 stars. Resort 3 stars

I’ll start by saying we have had great vacations twice now at this resort . The staff in general are amazing people who will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable . The resort itself is aged and not accessible at for for rooms other than ground level . The food in the buffet was not very good , other than the omelette station in the AM which were made fresh in front of you . Good food can be found at the market which is a short cab ride away 10 bucks americano each way . The fo [... read more]od in a la carte was much better than the Buffett but you’re limited to 2 of those in yur week long stay . A great and enjoyable can be here if expectations are kept low and reasonable . At best the resort itself is a 3 star with easily 7 star staff .

Playa Costa Verde: Fantastic

Amazing staff from front desk, chamber maids, ground keepers, Management, Air Tranist Rep Jane. Our guide to thr Baseball game in Holguin. The restaurant staff who went above and beyond for my wife Mary's birthday. Jesus @ the swim up bar and his wife Tonya for an incredible off site supper. Delayed by Air Transit for a day and the hotel accomodated us in minutes. Our 26 x to Cuba, forst at this site and we will be back.

Club Kawama: Great Getaway.

Club Kawama is beautiful and has much to offer eg.right on the ocean, large swimming pool,plentiful food and refreshments.Every evening we had some of the best entertainment I’ve ever seen.People here are friendly,and I felt safe.The downside is our private toilet did not flush when we arrived, the lid was resting against the wall, and the seat was unattached but resting on top of the toilet.After we complained,water was hooked up and the rest was rectified by removal and we sat on the porcela [... read more]in of the toilet. In spite of this, I would return.Club Kawama has a special charm.

Don Lino Hotel: Simple small resort

Everything is good here for a quiet, family get away there is two beach on the property and another beach about one km away l would suggest this resort for anyone whom is looking forward to tranquility, peace and quiet as well as solidarity

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful, relaxing holiday

This hotel was clean, the staff were incredibly friendly and kind, this resort is big and there is a lot of walking but as a Royal guest we could flag down a golf cart or call the front desk for one. We stayed in the Presidential Suite (upgraded once we arrived), and we had our own pool, the room is massive but it’s at the furthest part of the hotel which meant we had to walk very far for the entertainment and to the restaurants but a quick call to front desk and a golf cart was on its way. M [... read more]ost of the entertainment and activities took place in the main area which meant all the Royal guests had to commute. There was never music or things to engage you around It is more like a place to rest and relax. Due to the food shortage in Cuba, there were minimal food options. Every single restaurant only offered chicken and some type of seafood. There were 2 or 3 options on the menu at the a la carte restaurants only. I think if they had meat options of some sort it would have been much better. They did try their very best to offer chicken in many ways to keep guests happy. The room service was good and I think this is the only place where the staff from the groundskeeper up did everything in their power to make you smile and feel welcomed! My cons were, the lack of English speaking staff. The language barrier is absolutely massive and a very big con. I am actually surprised how difficult it was to ask for something. Definitely don’t go for the food but certainly go for the incredible beach, ocean and kindness AND make sure you visit The Rock House (24 hour) serves drinks and easy foods like sandwiches, hotdogs and soup. If you want to meet the friendliest people… this is the place to go. If you want 5 star dining, go elsewhere, if you want a 5 star room, go elsewhere but if you want the most beautiful beach and ocean and outstanding people… this is your place!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Very nice older resort

First off I'd like to Thank Frank Reinaldo Yasel Avevoneg Jesus and Dayren and the staff for making our stay a really good 1. It's not a 5 star or even a 4 but the rooms and very nice and very clean thru-out All staff are very friendly and do their best to make your stay as nice as possible. Beach is very nice and with the 2 pools all with in walking distance makes this a easy resort to get around. Food is repetitive but there's always something to keep me full.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Paradise of Sirenis

I go to this resort for what it has to offer. This is my third time at this resort and will be returning in the near future. The resort itself is beautiful with an open concept to the sunlight and nightfall. The rooms are spacious with king size beds. Nice shower with hot running water. Food was plenty and edible to satisfactory. Somethings can be a hit and miss as hard times have impacted the beautiful country of Cuba. It's life of survival for these Cubans. Bring things like your own toilet pa [... read more]per as it is a high demand and yes it is not available sometimes and would help the shortage. The staff members are very respectful as they are very friendly and are ready to serve you with a smile and open arms. This resort is easy walking distance to the beachside ocean (bring bug spray for the sand fleas as well as mosquitoes for they love people), swim up pool bar and a pool with a side bar. The accommodations of this resort meet my expectations. A few workers to name a few Frank,Reinaldo,Suyami and a few others(not sure of their names) will be missed until next time.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good Resort

Everything about the hotel is fantastic Clean,great for everyone of all ages Beach is fantastic for walking, swimming,snorkeling Would recommend the glass bottom boat tour,amazing! Difficult at this time with food and alcohol supplies Difficult

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Excellent!

Great Resort , lots to eat & drink. Small flea market , walking distance. Beach & water excellent! Cuba is taking Canadian money !! It’s also perfect for kids ! Entertainment nightly I will be back !!!!

Memories Paraiso: Woman beware

I’ll start with the good things about this resort, beach was amazing. Food was great! Our male housekeeper was awesome. After about two days we and other people noticed woman were being followed to their rooms at night by a “man in the bushes” a 21 year old male was robbed and beat up by a “man in the bush” it was to the point I wouldn’t walk alone at night without my husband. Another thing was beer was hard to get which wasn’t a huge deal I just found something else to drink. Playa Costa Verde: Great experience

People were incredible, beach was amazing and the food was great! Lots of options for things and places to eat, and the beach volleyball was awesome. Definitely a highlight for us! Would highly recommend!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great Animation Team!

This hotel was not full due to renovations in some areas. There are plenty of restaurants, however those guests who were not in the Diamond Club could not make reservations and therefore it was “first come, first served” to get into anything but the buffet. The buffet had good selections, you would not go hungry, however I felt the prepared trays were always only “luke warm”. I still do not like the fact that people play the “towel game” to reserve palapa on the beach. This is not fair and should not be allowed. We were guests for two weeks and the beach BBQ became tedious as the menu was exactly the same every day. The animation team were wonderful - a really good group of people. We would especially like to acknowledge Veronica (morning yoga practice) along with all other games. Victor, Jimmy and Duran would did pool games, aqua fitness, Cuba day, Foam party, and nightly entertainment. The public area washrooms were clean, however, additional toilet paper was required many times and this should have been addressed. We enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this hotel. Wifi some days was “hit and/or miss” very slow.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: LOVED IT! Highly Recommended.

This resort is close to paradise. Grounds are beautiful and take your breathe away every time you walk through the walkways. Flowers and greenery are all around you - above, below, along all the sidewalks - and kept meticulously. And at night, there is a rainbow of lights on the garden & water ways and it makes a beautifully warm & welcoming atmosphere. Our room was very comfortable. Very spacious suite - with King bed, large closet and separate living room/seating area - but hey - who stays in their room with so much to do on the resort? We always had hot water for showers and air conditioning worked as desired.Our deck had a beautiful garden view over looking a small private pool - however we spent most of time at the beach.One complaint - floors were not barefoot clean and we had to ask for a special cleaning. The beach area was perfect - soft, fine sand, a long walk-able (always clean) beach front with an water access that you could walk out forever - with sand bars and shallow waters for a great distance. And staff were always there to help with chairs, umbrellas, beverages. Staff at this resort are amazing - always willing to help/serve as best they can with what they have to work with. Very friendly and very accommodating.Only challenge is service at the main bar in the evenings - can be very slow getting a beverage. Food was good - and we had no problem walking away satisfied after every meal. Breads, rolls and cakes/breakfast sweets are homemade everyday. Their ice cream was a special treat and enjoyed almost every day. Yes, beef & potato dishes are very limited and there was no bacon, but food was prepared and presented with lots of choice. Plenty of fish, chicken, pork, rice dishes, eggs & ham; & salad fixings. The specialty restaurants had very tasty meals & we enjoyed everyone. Things like peanut butter, jams, relish and mayonnaise are not an available option, so if you want these items - best bring them from home. We also brought vinegar - there are french fries, hot dogs & hamburgers at the 24 hour booth. They do have ketchup and mustard. Warning - even with a converter - the 220 the hydro will blow out your hair dryer. There was a small hairdryer in our room. Entertainment - the 1st night was OK - and needed some additional practice (Cuban history) however all other presentations were very well done and the OPERA night & ROCK night were both exceptionally well done. Overall this Resort was GREAT and we would definitely recommend to any needing a reference - even though we have no other CUBAN resorts to compare to. After three years of no/limited travel it was so great to go where the surf, sun and accommodations were just what we needed. And as an added bonus, we made some really great friends while on vacation; and look forward to staying in touch once home.

Marazul Hotel: Sufficient if somewhat run down

This must have once been a glorious resort. However, they seem to be suffering form lack of funds post covid and the property is a bit run down. But it is clean, staff are friendly, food was good. Beach just across the road.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Great family resort for the price, we wanted a five star, and this could be it with some attention to detail

We had a fun time at this resort, the beach was absolutely beautiful. The service at the buffets and the beach bar was also good. The rooms were good, cleaned daily and restocked daily, the A/C worked well. The service at the snack bar and the bar beside the lobby was not good! Each time we went to both the snack bar and the lobby bar, we did not feel welcomed! The wifi kept disconnecting from the device so you constantly had to reconnect, as well, it was timed, so you had to go back to the  [... read more]lobby to ask for more time. My room also had an issue with the lock, so there were a number of times where I had to go to the reception desk to ask for the door to be unlocked and have my key reset. The resort also needed a fair bit of maintenance (roof work / paint). The hallways were never mopped, and the building roof looked like it was about to fall in some spots. Our last evening, it rained and the buffet and hallways were flooded, and the ceiling caved in in one part of the hallway. The restaurants were not the best. The worst part and the reason we will not return was that there were flies in the dinning room and cockroaches in the buffet, it was not one cockroach, it was an infestation. There were cockroaches running around in the bread, the plates, the other food stations, it was just gross! If the hotel got this infestation under control, and had more supervision around the cleanliness of the common areas, I would rate this resort higher, but as is, we will not return.
