Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great Resort

This hotel was ideal for us. I liked that the resort was smaller, so everything was close. We found the food great, tasty even for picky eaters there was always something to chose. The entertainment staff did a great job!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Lovely Visit to Memories Flamenco

I travelled with my 76-year old mother, my sister and my daughter and we had a lovely time. The resort is very nicely laid out around the pool with nothing really far (except buildings 5,7,8, and 10). We were in building 9 and everything worked (AC, fridge, patio door, etc). As everywhere in Cuba, the beds are rather hard but that was expected. The food was also as expected in Cuba. There was always something we could find to eat and there was ice cream for dessert! We didn't try the a l [... read more]a carte restaurants but the snack bar had good pizzas and because we were Diamond Club we went for breakfast at the La Florencia restaurant each morning and we had great breakfasts (omelets - no standing in line; pancakes, toast, fruit plates, etc). Diamond Club also had its own spot on the beach which was behind building 1 and 2 (it moved recently) and there were always beach chairs and usually palapas. The beach is lovely but if you have tender feet, there are broken shells in the sand that you may want to be aware of but we didn't really have a problem. Sadly, the weather was windy and cold for the first 3 days but after that it was lovely. One think you can't control is the weather. There's a cute little market 5 minute walk down the road - the same place where the disco is located that a bus goes to each night at 11:00 pm. Very nice pools - three of them - one being a kiddie pool but it's not used much by the kids as they're usually with the parents at the big pools. The foam party in the pool bar pool was fun - to watch! Kudos to the entertainment team who had lots of activities going all day, every day. What I liked the best was the evening entertainment which was fabulous. What a talented group of young dancers who obviously spend a lot of time practicing and putting together the shows for each evening - particularly the Cuban night, Broadway night, and the Michael Jackson night. Often the same people were there in the morning leading activities, and were there in the evening as well. The shows are well worth attending!! Above all, the people of course were very, very kind. We met so many people and were treated with kindness and respect. I have to say it was a bit sad to see how we, as tourists, sometimes didn't take care and respect the place where we were staying. There was often garbage left laying around right next to a garbage can. It was sad to see as visitors to this beautiful country. Kudos to the grounds staff who worked tirelessly every day, cleaning up and repairing and keeping the gardens beautiful. It was one of the nicest resorts I've been to in Cuba, overall, and would go back again.

Hotel Vigia: NOT so great. Very disappointed. Don't spend your money here, especially if you have a limited budget to begin with. You will regret it.

It had actually been several years since we had gone on an all inclusive vacation. Let me just say that our family NEEDED this vacation badly! We've had a terrible year for numerous reasons. Money has been extremely tight in addition, so the decision to go away during March break was not made lightly. That said, we were on a budget and wished to spend between $3500 and $4000 on our trip. Not sure if this is the reason our experience was so bad or not but, I regret not spending more and defini [... read more]tely wish we could have a do over and/or get our money back! Due to the fact that we had so little to spend, I enlisted the help of and trip central agent. Anyway, all this said... Understand before I go into all the issues, that we are the most low maintenance, down to earth, NOT picky people you could ever meet. My husband and I have been to Cuba 5 times, the Dominican 2 times and Jamaica 1 time. We actually got married in Punta Cana. This recent trip was the second time to Cuba with our two children and this was the worst place we have ever stayed. Actually, we have loved every single other vacation we have ever taken to the Caribbean, until now. The Sol Cayo Guillermo hotel is in desperate need of repair and in fact, we heard during our stay that it will be closed at the end of this year for renovations. It would have been nice to know that before going there. Here is a list of things we experienced: - Our first night was spent in a room with no air conditioning. As a result, we didn't sleep well. - Our send night was spent in a room that had a broken door frame so the from door to the room would not lock properly. - That same room also had a sliding glass door that would not open and a safe that didn't work. - On the third day we were put in a new room that finally seemed to have everything in order but it did not. - This room had a sewer smell coming from the bathroom drains. Customer service and housekeeping gave us incense to burn! - They said they could not do anything else about this during our stay because it was possibly caused by the shower drain being blocked with bugs! To deal with this requires the use of Acid in the drain? - We kept the bathroom door closed for the rest of the week and left the window to the bathroom open at all times. - The refrigerator in this room did not work either but the safe did, so bonus! - The beds in all the room did not have any mattress covers and the mattresses were very soiled and in some cases moldy at the corners. - They were also ripped in some places which makes for great hiding places for little critters. Luckily, only saw one bug inside. Another bonus. Trying to be positive here. - The sheets were NEVER changed all week. - We NEVER once received new towels in our room all week. - We were only able to change our beach towels one time ALL week.(Apparently the onsite laundry services are out of order so all laundry needs to be sent an hour away to be done). - The pool was closed one day and we were not given a reason. - The food here was really not great. VERY repetitive. Understand that one should not go to Cuba for the food, it's really for the beach but the food here was not so great. - The selection of drinks was just ok and this is the first time that we've felt in Cuba like we were bothering the staff at the buffet or the bar areas. - Also, we have never been harassed more anywhere to bring staff food and drink etc., and we always felt like we needed to leave more than the usual tip we would leave at the buffet, bars, restaurants etc. These are things we would do naturally but it felt forced and uncomfortable here. One cannot predict the weather and this is not TripCentral's fault but to add to all of the above and which added to our disappointment, we had 4 days of cold, cloudy and at times very rainy weather. Our first three days were sunny and beautiful(but those were the days we had to waste time changing rooms) and for the balance of our trip, the weather was crappy. Very unfortunate but had everything else been okay, this would not have mattered as much. Anyway, the one upside was that the entertainment staff really tried and kept the kids occupied. They still had fun but in the end, we REALLY wish we had not spent our money to go here. NOT a good feeling when we hesitated to spend in the first place. Really wish we could get our money back! The trip Central staff should not be advising people to go here. VERY VERY disappointed. Can't say we will use trip central again and I do wonder what responsibility Sun Wing should share in transporting people here. :-(

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Resort

Hotel was great and grounds were as well. Great variety of food at buffet. The people were outstanding, always in good spirit and friendly. My only thing was my room being cleaned, although my fault when after a couple days I found this tab you insert in key lock on outside. When I did put out thet only clean bathroom once. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Very nice for 3 days

Beautiful resort! Gorgeous beach! Good drinks and evening entertainment. Staff were friendly for the most part, although difficult to understand (speaking fast with a thick accent). The food got a little boring, but it was fine for 3 days. It was a bit annoying to have to run around the whole resort making reservations for things - you couldn't just do everything at the front desk. The gift shop and snack bar were open late though. The mosquitoes were vicious at night - bring deet! The grounds staff came around spraying some kind of pesticide in the bushes at dinnertime, which kind or ruined my dinner. We had some problems with our room - they didn't realize that there were 3 people staying in our room, so we had to ask for extra water, toilet paper, an extra bath towel, and a cot. The room also didn't have a bathroom door or shower curtain, which made showering and going to the toilet quite awkward. The resort doesn't seem very high-tech; lots of daily business was conducted with paper and pen. No big deal though.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful beach!

This was a beautiful, clean and well maintained resort with close to 1100 rooms! The beach was incredible and so was the service! The food was edible - buffets aren't the greatest but we didn't go hungry. A la cartes had great food.The back end of the resort smelled like sewage for the first few days until they had a truck come in and pump it out.. after that no issues! Great nightly entertainment and overall we had a great time!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Good value resort for family

We have been to Cuba many times (15+) and would put this resort at the top for the value (cost) and experience you get. Beach is a 10, rooms are 7.5. Some of the best food we have had in Cuba was at this resort - so many choices during the day (pizza, fresh grilled fish, churros by the pool, hotdogs and paninis by the beach and a snack bar that is 24 hrs and the buffet where we often chose the fresh options - chicken, fish, eggs etc.) Drinks were good, lots of slushies and coffee bars. Transfer  [... read more]from airport to resort is 15 min., which is great compared to Cayo Santa Maria where it is 1.5 hrs!! The pool area is small and can be crowded but the beach is huge. The biggest disappointment was the Sunwing reps - they were extremely rude and not helpful. There is a cool market that is a 5 min walk from the resort. I would definitely return.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Playa Pillar!___ Very Good Resort!_

Fairly new resort with 16 three storey appartments all very clean and up to date.The beach is small but nice. The facilities in and around the resort are pleasant. The whole staff is very charming and very helpful. The food is very good. The lobbys is lively and clean. Good organisation of the whole day, including activities at the pool, excillent if you have young children, various variety concerts at night: danceurs, custumes, music, choregraphies all very professionnal. Good choice!

Hotel Vigia: Horrible cockroach infested room

Just returned from sol Cayo guillermo two days ago. I've been to Cuba several times before, and this is the worst hotel by far. It's such a shame because it has the potential to be wonderful. Cute bungalow rooms. The beach and grounds are reasonably maintained with Some wear and tear, but our room was terrible. We first discovered our deadbolt on the room door did not lock. Then realized the other keycard lock also didn't work. We could open the door just by pushing it so we had to carry our val [... read more]uables with us everywhere we went. The patio doors didn't close all the way allowing lizards and bugs free reign of our room. The safe also wasn't working. Our toilet ran and did not flush for 3 days until it was 'fixed.' There were no beach towels available for 3 days. We only got one bath towel in our room for my husband, daughter, and I to share for the entire week. In 7 days our room was cleaned twice. Cleaned meant the floor was swept and bed made. Sinks etc. were not cleaned. Sheets or towels were not changed. Shortage of bottled water and toilet paper. The light outside our room was not working which is a safety issue after dark. The bed matresses were ripped and stained. The fridge cabinet door was off the hinges. The worst problem was the giant cockroaches in our room that came out at night, forcing us to sleep with the lights on so we couldn't hear them scurrying around. Disgusting! Problem after problem. Every day we complained at the front desk and with 'customer service.' They did send someone to try to repair the toilet and locks but it took 3 days of complaining. They refused to allow us to change rooms because they were 'overbooked'. Staff were nice as long as you kept tipping them. I believe this is a Melia hotel. They should be ashamed to take people's money. On the plus side, the pool was good for kids. They had a large inflatable climbing castle by the beach which was good entertainment for kids. The buffet food was ok if you are not picky. Long lineups to get a table if you didn't arrive right when it opened at 6:30. We avoided the a la carte after talking to other guests who had a bad experience with it. I think the people who have good reviews of this hotel must have had rooms in much better condition. If our room locked, was cockroach free, and not dirty I could have overlooked some of the other problems. Our room was in the 1300 block

Sol Cayo Coco: Family Fun Resort

Cuba was fun!!!!!, very nice resort. It is not to big. The two beaches are some of the best beaches for a caribbean vacation. Great staff, great service. Great value at a great price. Was a breeze going through TripCentral...we will return.

Sol Cayo Coco: ATONOFUN

Spent a week at SOL CAYO COCO with the family....great swimming... beaches. Just a great time relaxing. Not a loud place but was fun for the teen age kids. Resort is exactly like the pics. Staff is extremely polite and assisted with all requests.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Kids loved it, We loved it. Great time!

- Nice and clean resort. Well run & managed. - Super friendly staff. Everyone of the staff manage to greet you as you walk by, include ground keeper, house keeper. Reception staff could be more friendlier - Foods as expected. - Value for the money What else to expect..beside to the weather.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Nice Resort

We had a nice stay, didn't run into a bad or rude worker. Everyone was friendly! The resort itself was kept clean as was the beach! We had a great stay! It was very family friendly or it was nice to get away with a group of friends. There was something for everyone - beach, pool, bars, shows, activities, boating, fishing, it was great fun!

Hotel Vigia: Classic Cuban Resort

Pool was amazing, but difficult to get a chair. The beach was breathtaking and the sand was so soft! Amazing beach. Hotel is rustic Cuban. What you expect for Cuba to get the Cuban experience. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food selection was large but line ups for some food took some time. Booking for the additional restaurants on site was not exactly clear, ensure you ask questions. Muthu Colonial Hotel: Great People! but less than desirable hotel

The Hotel Colonial Cayo Coco is definitely showing her age but she has character. If you look for the positive, then it is it's people and the beach. From Rui, our beach bar enthusiast who played beach volleyball with the kids; to Yoel, our bartender in the Piano Lounge inside the Italian eatery who loved to talk and share his passions about Cuba; our gardener friends, Janier and Vincente, who desperately tried to communicate and show their hospitality with token gifts and coconuts; to our ro [... read more]om keeper, Anad, who always asked how your were with interest; and finally but not least, our Bell Boy Dannys who was always willing to help and assist wherever he could. The beach is incredibly long and sandy and permits one to walk out at a distance into the depths of the clear and incredibly colourful water. We enjoyed taking out the paddle boat for a whirl. In the end, we would surely go back for the friendships we developed and be happy doing so.

Hotel Mojito: Would not reco this resort.

* Did not have kids club like the last time. * Food selection was basically the same every night. * The resort ran out of internet cards...what if you have a emergency. *************************************************************

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Perfect getaway

This is a new and very clean resort. All of the fixtures in the rooms are new and in good condition. The service was amazing (as always, in Cuba). Only suggestion would be to have the scooter rental guy around more often as we didn't get to rent because he was gone for 3 days in a row.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Best resort in Cuba 🇨🇺

We are a family of four, with two teens. We went over our kids' March break 2017. The resort is clean, in great repair, and well appointed. The staff are kind and helpful. The daily entertainment was more than sufficient, whether you like to relax or participate in activities. Plenty to do for everyone. We enjoyed the Mediterranean a la carte, and the buffet. The snack bar fare left a lot to be desired. The only good thing there was the pizza. Would be nice if they had chicken wings and an i [... read more]ce cream bar. The beach was AMAZING! Lots of chairs at both the beach and pool. We spent 20cuc per adult / 10cuc per youth for a glass bottom boat & snorkling excursion (1 hour +) which was great, and super convenient as the boat picked us up on the beach. Plenty of beverage areas on the beach, by the pool, and the lobby. We would definitely go back. Met some great people. The only real downer was that because the resort was filled to capacity the septic system grey water, flooded the grass behind our building, so we got a whiff of funky sewage when we stepped outside, but we didn't spend much time on our patio so it was not a huge issue for us. Carole Webber from Trip Central.ca was super pleasant & helpful, and will be using her to book again for sure!

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Excellent resort.

Excellent value for cost. Overall the food was fine for Cuba. Very nice facility, with adequate services. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the resort. Beach was beautiful white sand, excellent for young children. Snorkeling was poor. Although tipping is not mandatory, service was much better with it. Although there is a Preferred Club, the perks are not worthy of the fee. Would recommend against. Checkout on last day was disappointing with no access to towel, nor shower after 1200 when pl [... read more]ane was not actually leaving until 2200.
