Memories Cayo Largo: Sol Cayo Largo

The staff were really great. The food was adequate - a little more effort would have gone a long way to making it very good. The room was spacious but tired looking and in need of some TLC. It certainly was ok. They lost some beach since last year but there was still lots so walking the beach was great. The swimming was great in the pool and ocean. The a-la-carts were not very good so I wouldn't bother with them again. It was no crowded and it was nice not having to worry about having a l [... read more]ounge chair to sit on. I would return again but before I committed I would google earth to make sure the beach was still there - Sol Pelicano has NO beach now and I was shocked.

Melia Las Dunas: Very Nice

It was larger than I had imagined....the grounds were lovely especially Central Park...the rooms were nice(and we just had a classic room).... the resort was divided (for lack of a better word) into a couple's side and a family side each having a large pool area ....the resort was very kid friendly.....anyone with mobility problems shuttles were available or were there to deliver you to your destination if you got lost.....food was typically Cuban (which we don't mind)....we ate at the 24 hour r [... read more]estaurant quite a bit......beach was good but would be hard to access for some.... we enjoyed our stay at Melia Las Dunas and have no complaints

Melia Marina Varadero: Great location and good value for money

This resort has hotel and apartments. We stayed at apartment studio room with marina view. Room was spacious with kitchenette and even a washer. Have patience if you need something. We need to call 5 times to get housekeeping replenish a bottle of bath gel! Buffet was below average, very salty and repetitive. Only thing we like is the fresh papayas. The French restaurant was lousy (both food and service). Would recommend Italian restaurant and the Latin restaurant.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: wonderful in every way

We loved the grounds with accommodation in houses not too close to each other. Also enjoyed the spacious lobby area and especially the quick and cheery bar service at night. A couple of the evenings for entertainment in the lobby area were just too loud for us but loved dance shows and especially the pool zombie show. The landscape is the best and the service all around as well. We plan to return.

Sol Cayo Coco: Great value

My wife and I enjoyed this resort. The beach is beautiful. The food is above average for Cuba. Rooms were good, always cleaned. But it's the people that work there that make this place great. All in all a great value for what we paid.

Paradisus Varadero: Need to have better service the people thought are very nice that work there.

The hotel is nice although I changed my room to the newer area in the hotel. I think the older area does not look fresh and I don't like that a lot of hotels leave such a gap under the front doors. I don't like lizard in my room and this could be better if they didn't leave a gap under the front door. My sister was in the old area and did not get proper bar service and had no hot water for days. Many people had to be switched because of this problem. I think they need to have better help the way they cook. The service in food areas is not good, only speciality places service is good.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Good time

We have stayed at this resort 3 times now. In the last yr they have updated the buffet and plan on updating some rooms..to make them more modern...plan to do 190 in the next year. Upon our arrival we did not get the room we had requested so had to opt for a top floor (which I specifically did not want as no elevator)...but management changed us to the room we requested the next day. We got very poor service and food in the Italian one. Look up the dancing waiter from the International restaurant..he is the best! When getting into the pool it is a very high step down in and then there is another slanted step that is not identified and we saw a lot of people slip here so tried to warn as many as we could also pool is on a downward grade to pool bar and very slippery..so watch your step. Food in buffet was ok..not very hot and same most days. Eat at the beach grill for lunch it is good. If you want peanut butter take it as none there. Nightly entertainment is mostly dancing...but very good kids program. Overall it is an ok resort and I would return.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great People!

Some rooms dated but all very spacious. Clean and accommodating resort. Beautiful beach and pool area. Good dining just late if you are not 'Royal'. Fun times! The employees made it so much better! Service was great.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful Beach!

Just got home on Wednesday and already missing Holguin's "winter"! Perfect weather (29°-30°) days & breezy evenings. Whether dining in the buffet or one of the several a la cart restaurants the atmosphere was tasteful and classy. Even as a Celiac there were plenty of choices and thankfully no mishaps. Pool & ocean a little chilly but still tolerable. Entertainment ended earlier than we'd like but the young dancers/synchronized swimmers were amazing. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing beaches and weather

Booking with tripcentral.ca was flawless and easy. Communication with Cassandra was superb and she was so helpful. Resort was clean and well maintained. Beach was gorgeous and so easy to travel from Ottawa to Cuba and return. Bonus of tripcentral gift card got us park and fly for free....thanks so much for that. Food and service was sub par. Some pushy staff seeking out tips which was off putting. As I said the resort itself was clean and well maintained. Tryp Cayo Coco: Awesome resort!!!

Hotel was great! The staff was always super nice and helpful. A lot of them went above and beyond like saving tables for us at breakfast or making special drinks just for us. Room was always clean. Beach was amazing and clean! The ocean was super calm like a pool and saw lots of fish. If you love cats you'll love this resort because they have a bunch of kittens and young cats around the 24hr bar and they're very friendly and love to be fed the lunch meat. Entertainment was awesome and they did a [... read more] great job with kids. Excellent resort for families and anyone really! Food was good and had a good variety too. Would definitely recommend and return myself!

Paradisus Varadero: Great beach resort.

Well laid out resort. Very good a la carte restaurants but booking process needs to be more efficient. Process too time consuming(45 minutes) as employee also selling private Havana tours. Older section rooms where we were staying was somewhat dated. Plenty of shade & lounges on beautiful beach and at pool.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Above Expectations

This was a pleasant surprise for me and my wife. Nice room. Beach was fantastic,and on calm days we walked on the beach and on the sand bars for hours/kilometers through very clear water. Windy days were much different. Food was good but patience was needed for service and/or supply. Beer, wine and spirits were good.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Great Beach

I recently stayed at the Melia Jardines del Rey in Cayo Coco where the weather was great with lots of sun, and consistent warm temperatures. This is a large hotel so many things are a bit of a distance away but if you don't mind walking its ok. The Cuban staff seemed overworked but as usual very friendly and eager to please. I did find that although the hotel is new, it seems at least the rooms are a bit tired. Safe was not working in the room as well the shower only put out very hot water. Dini [... read more]ng was very crowded as expected with over 2000 people at the resort. Also each day there were odors coming from there septic system. On a positive note, I have not seen a beach like this before where the water was so clear and the sand so white and you could walk for long distances. If you are looking for something quiet this is probably not the place to go.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Wonderful stay in paradise.

The resort certainly met all our expecttions. The suite was very spacious with a corner balcony and large modern bathroom. We enjoyed the early evening music througout the resort. The food was very good and especially enjoyed the seafood. All the staff were so friendly and accomodating and the room service was excellent. We shall certainly return again this year..

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazinf resort

The hotel was amazing and the food was good for Cuba. The best part was the entertainment and friendly staff especially Yamilka and frank the entertainers who were upbeat and ran amazing activities on the beach and at the pool. Very fun and relaxing place. It will now be my "go to" spot in Cuba

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Good Times!

Rooms were nice and spacious, 24 room service was great. Restaurants were all good to great for Cuba. Night-life is non existent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. The beach is amazing!

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: My favourite resort

I have been here several times and I'm going back in May. This resort is a bit dated but the food is good and the staff are amazing. This resort is on the best beach in Cuba. If you like the beach and your own space this is the resort for you.

Melia Marina Varadero: Beach was great, resort was ok

Overall a decent hotel. I wouldn't go back to this same one, and I was expecting it to be a bit better based on other reviews. Food was consistent with my previous experiences in Cuba. The buffet was better than the a la carte restaurants. If you got to the buffet early, the food seemed to be better than if you got there late. Breakfast was pretty good, if you were willing to wait 20 minutes in line for the omelettes. Beach was amazing, and you will not be disappointed in this. It is ho [... read more]wever, on the other side of the road, so you have to walk over a bridge to get there. Pool area was just ok. Pillows and towels in the room were scarce; when we asked for extra, the maid would take them away the following day. Sheets were not changed when they needed to be. Water and beer was not replaced as needed.

Melia Las Antillas: Great food

I was surprised that the food at this resort was so good. Every day there was a table with just different kinds of cheeses, meats, and more! One of the staff told us that all the meats were imported from Canada. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful!
