Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Disappointed

We are a family of 5, all adults (youngest 29 and oldest 72). I have to say we were a little disappointed, I would not say this is a 5 star resort and we travel a lot (15+ all inclusive resorts in the last 10 years). To start the resort was clean, and the grounds kept clean as well. The size of the resort was perfect, not too big and not too small, direct beach views from the pool, it’s all really close together which is nice to not have to walk for 20+ min to get somewhere. The beach is brown [... read more] sand, not white sand like promised and the waves very strong, most days not able to swim in the ocean (not the resorts fault - just mentioning it). Food was ok…. Not 5 stars, it was edible but not a lot of options and sometimes the labels didn’t match what they served. 3/5 members from my group had upset stomachs by day 5 and multiple guests we spoke to were experiencing the same thing. The Italian restaurant was AMAZING, very authentic and great flavors. Otherwise we had to eat at the buffet for all dinners because despite the resort claiming to be a reservation free hotel they prioritize reservations for diamond club members and then leave no room for the rest of the guests to eat until 8pm or later so we ended up at the buffet. We tried to make reso’s and we tried to just walk in at different times yet time and time again we couldn’t get in to the restaurants cause they were full (despite multiple empty tables). The entertainment was extremely poor, every night it was just 4 females dressed provocatively swaying their hips to music - this included their very poor NYE entertainment as well. Music was repetitive all day, into the evening, same in the club then repeated the next day as well. Despite being “all inclusive” the resort wouldn’t let you sit in certain cabana chairs unless you rented them, the chairs and beds sat empty majority of the week but they wouldn’t let you use them unless you paid minimum $120 usd. There was also a rooftop pool advertised to everyone but when you get there only certain guests can use it or you have to pay to use it (Mermaid Pool). They also tried to sell you NYE tickets to watch the show (the poor one I mentioned above), if you didn’t buy the tickets starting at $600usd for a booth (treated like booth and bottle service at a club) then you needed to sit over 50feet away from stage. Thank goodness we didn’t pay because we didn’t need to sit any closer to see how bad the entertainment was. Lastly the rooms, they were fine but very run down; shower door handle and air conditioning broken in one, door frame and table broken in another, and closet doors fell off the tracks in the third. The doors actually fell onto my Aunt and it took 30+ min for someone to come help. Many other guests were complaining about the rooms as well. Sometimes maids forgot to restock the fridge, leave towels and or other basics. However, it was clean and beds were typical. ALSO THERE ARE NO ELEVATORS FYI. Onto the positives: Meibi and Rosa who serve the pool areas made our trip! They were kind and greeted with a smile daily and were a pleasure to socialize with. Leo, Henry and Derrick who served us in the buffet were also very nice and provided some laughs. Miguel who I was a customer service representative (main lobby) was also so kind and lovely and chatted with us daily. The resort would be better if they upgraded the rooms, and maintained them more, switched to reservations at the restaurants or actually make it reservation free for everyone, and stop trying to sell you things like chairs and certain pools when we paid for all inclusive (would like to mention all these things they try to sell are different from the diamond club section) which is to expected. If we needed to pay extra we should have been told and it should be advertised as such on their website and through their bookings with the air carriers.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing Resort

We spent a lovely week here with our two teen sons. We absolutely loved the resort and everything about it. There are three a la carte options that you can go to more than once, you just need to book that morning. If you get there at the beginning of the week you can book a la cartes for Monday to Thursday. All three had excellent food options and the service was impeccable. The pool area is great and has many seats, however you need to get up early and put a towel or such on the loungers as they fill up for the day. Plus they have a swim up bar with friendly hard working bartenders. The poolside entertainment is loads of fun with lots of varieties - aqua size, coconut party, kayak races, beer drinking contests, dancing, and always great music. The evening entertainment is the only place that I would say needs work. There is a new show each evening but the shows need work and likely more money invested. The rooms were average rooms, but who needs a big room when you can hang out by the pool or the beach? In all the resort is very very clean, the staff are friendly and very helpful, everyone has a good basis of English. We would definitely return to this resort.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Breathtaking Views that Don’t Make Up for Other Shortfalls

I just returned from an 8 day stay at Senator Puerto Plata Resort. The grounds and views of mountains and ocean are simply stunning. The landscaping around the property is meticulous and beautiful. Overall the food is fair- it lacks variety in the buffet. My main complaint is with lounge chairs and seating around the resort in general. There are too few spots for the number of guests. It takes away from your vacation when you need to get up at 7:30 am to place towels on a lounge chair. In the sp [... read more]orts bar (the only place for a night time drink) there are practically no tables. Just empty areas. Service was hit and miss. There are some amazing people on staff who go the extra mile. As someone who always tips- I did find that there was less overall friendliness than I have seen at other resorts. The alcohol is sub-par- watered down and disappointing. Pina coloda’s are like water. If you tip really well you can have a good drink made with a better quality alcohol. Room fridges do not have beer. Don’t bother trying to drink the wine. The system for booking reservations at the a la carte is flawed. They give out different information daily to different guests. You wait in long lines to be told they have no more room. Honestly once at the a la carte’s they lack ambiance- have too bright of lighting- and especially in the Italian disappointing food. I will say the sushi was a delight- and that did not require a reservation. From a location perspective this resort is a true gem- especially if you can afford to stay in the renovated section (I was in one of the older buildings near the back of the resort.) Everyone in my group suffered with terrible tummy problems our entire stay- and this is not something I have encountered in numerous trips over the years to other all inclusives. If you go out of high season I think the price would make up for the short falls. I booked at Christmas when prices are high and found myself expecting more which I guess is unrealistic. This resort should be a 3.5 rating- the views do not make up for poor food and low quality alcohol.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Disapointed 3 stars at most

Resort is part of a group of resorts that has been expanding the last 20 years and has not renovated this part. Food tasted good but we were all sick, entertainment ok, beach is beautiful but divided between groups. They need to fix rooms as they are run down, they gave us the older ones and we had to change. Smelled like mold and sewage, didn't have hot water for a couple days, paint in pools was peeling. It looked better as we went on the other side of the resort near the VIP/members/owners  [... read more]part, we noticed a difference in the drinks and food as they were better there but our access was limited.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: BlueBay Villa

The resort is small and very kept. The rooms are very outdated and lack furniture. No dresser and chairs in superior room. Lamps are so stained and old which they could easily replace. We informed them they definitely need a new toaster…so old. The food was good but never hot. I always got them to warm up my food on their grill. A very clean resort with amazing staff. Plenty of lounge chairs for everyone which was good. Xmas dinner was very nice with floating decorative flowers in the [... read more] pool. Always plenty of beach towels. Overall good experience at BlueBay Adult only resort.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: It’s a pleasure

Sunscape is a smaller older hotel (previously Barcelo) but is beautifully maintained. We were satisfied with food, rooms and the grounds. Our decision to book this hotel was due to value and location. We enjoy going into Puerto Plata for a change of scenery. I would recommend this hotel to the economic traveller.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Nice resort,

well planned, ok food, ok entertainment, friendly staff, very good beach, good service from staff, clean rooms,and worth the money. THE BATHROOM WE HAD NEEDED HANDLE BARS IN THE SHOWER. THE BALCONY DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Beautiful resort!

My girlfriend and i had an amazing time during our 7 night stay at Majestic Elegance. Our butler, Juan was amazing and decorated our room to help us celebrate our 6 year anniversary. We will definitely be going back in the future. 10/10

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: amazing resort

The resort and staff were amazing in every way. Food was always great. If anything the beach was constantly filling up with seaweed as it washed ashore overnight. They generally cleaned it every day but cant keep up with it. The water was usually filled with it also so swimming in the ocean only happened on one occasion. Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana: Wonderful Resort!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - such a great resort. The selection of pools was wonderful - something for every mood. The rooms were comfortable. The staff and servers were so friendly - fast and attentive. By the end of our stay, we felt like we'd made so many new friends. So many amenities to take in - always something going on. Such great selection of restaurants - no shortage of great eating. We will definitely return again.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Clean & great A la Carte

The staff is what makes this resort great! Always pleasant and having fun. The poolside and beach are 2 minute walk and being a small resort, no shuttle required. The 3 A la Carte & Sports Bar were great & so was Gelato & pizza slice. The Buffet was ok.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing staff & Nicely maintained

Here, 2 families w 4 older teens during Christmas for 7 days. The cleaning, poolside entertainment, bartenders and serving staff were all fantastic. A la Carte meals great, buffet was ok. 4 stars

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Nice Resort

It was nice. Our phone never worked despite many visits to the Front Desk, and there was no hot water, but they did send a plumber the next morning when the sink started to leak. I met a person who had changed his room FOUR times until he got one with both power and water. My daughter and partner were in another room, and their safe had no lock. Buffet meals were very good, as was the Mediterranean Restaurant (Mylos). The rest of the restaurants were OK. Good staff people, and all were frie [... read more]ndly and helpful. Be Live Collection Punta Cana Adults Only: Enjoyed myself

Resort was good, little underwhelming with the rooms and what wasn’t included. Like a lock for the safe that you must pay for daily. Not to mention pay extra for menu items. Was disappointed with room given as I wanted one with a second room for my child as we were lead to believe we were reviving.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Resort amazing

Rooms are not good not a good service the people who serve are not nice not a single smile on there face everything you have to ask them even when we went in the room was so hot I call them in the afternoons and guy came in the night but didn’t fix and then after two days they change the room

Occidental Punta Cana: Great Resort

The hotel is very well organized and maintained. It is clean and has a great variety of restaurants and bars. The beach is great, with white sand and clear water. The staff is professional and polite. I will definitely visit again.

Ocean El Faro: The resort was ok

Ocean el faro was not close to a 4.5 star resort. Food was below average and the restaurants resold below average buffet food. Room and common areas had lots of damage. Beach was very rocky and had some garbage around. Very few pool chairs and even fewer umbrellas. All taken all the time. Whole place felt cheap. Very overpriced!!!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

Great resort for those looking to get away for some sun & relaxation. Hotel staff are rarer to please and ensure you have a pleasant experience. We’ve been here before and will definitely come again soon.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: beautiful property with lots of walking

Beautiful property but beware of travel documentation. waited 4 hours for room confirmation. good bed with lousy bathroom and if you lose your bracelet there is s $200 charge. Poor room service. beware, of what you pay for.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Changing resort....new name Jewel Palm Beach.

Dreams scheduled to close early January and re-open once all traces of the Dreams logo have been removed from the hotel. Starting at the front gates....right down to the bottles of shampoo and match boxes.
