Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: good, yet poor service

had a beautiful week, resort is good but need a few minor repairs, food yummy but service wasn't good. I would recommend it but don't expect good service... We where said that we need to know what we wanted to drink at the buffet cause she was only going once for the drinks!! :( rooms where clean

Couples Swept Away: Absolutely perfect !!!

This was our very first all inclusive and we loved it !! The grounds of the resort were pristine. The walkways and beach were always immaculate. The staff in all areas were always very pleasant and willing to assist us. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and we loved the tropical feel of them. The food was amazing !!! It was always fresh and a huge variety so you never had to eat the same thing twice. It was definitely a very romantic spot and we highly recommend it!!

Riu Montego Bay: Great service!

The beach and water are the worst I've ever seen on my travels. There is only one (very noisy) pool. The rooms are dated, but comfortable and clean. The food is good and the staff is absolutely wonderful.

Riu Montego Bay: A Complete Package - No Unpleasant Surprises

Our stay at Riu Montego Bay was blessed with perfect 29-30 degree weather everyday, no rain, courteous and friendly staff, good food and entertainment and no unpleasant surprises. If there was ever one recommendation I'd suggest, that I'm sure many visitors would agree with, it would be to extend the WI-FI to the rooms as a courtesy to guests. We were advised that rooms were being prepared since check out time for guests leaving was 11 am. No problem, lo and behold, we were invited to get changed into proper beach attire, leave our luggage in a secure location near the lobby and enjoy the facilities while we wait for our room to be prepared. That was an invitation we couldn't refuse. Later, check in went flawlessly and we even managed to upgrade to an oceanfront suite at a little extra cost. The room was clean, the a/c worked properly and blower noise was normal, there was no lingering odour, the tiled floors were cool but not wet with condensation as we had experienced at other resorts. The TV worked well although its use was going to be very minimal. The clincher was eventually going to be the bathroom so very cautiously we tested everything - the double sinks and faucets worked flawlessly, no clogs, good mix of hot/cold water. Same thing with the tub - no clogs, good mix of hot/cold water. The toilet worked superb with one flush, so there was no need to miss home once again. If there was any flaw in the bathroom it was very minor - the light above the tub didn't work (probably a blown bulb), but who really cared. The fridge was stocked well with Red Stripe, coke, tonic water and water, but had no ginger ale which is usually what we mixed our drinks with. NBD, because we also enjoyed the Red Stripe with a light touch of Appleton, which was part of the in room dispensary. Overall, I would rate the room an A - , really good but not perfect. We found the staff very friendly and we happened to attach ourselves to Rebecca for breakfast who was there every morning to meet us. The breakfast choices were good, with egg, bacon, sausages, cereals, fruits, etc the norm, with a Jamaican flavour of local specialty dishes kicked in. For lunch everyday, we ate mostly from the beachside jerk hut which always had a lineup of people waiting. It was well worth waiting for though. We found dinner to be good, not great, and not quite up to par to a more flavourful Jamaican take out in Toronto. There was good entertainment at the beach and around the pool each day and there was never a dull moment. At night, there was always a local vibe with either a documentary, a local band, stage dancing, music and comedy. I would rate the entertainment a B+. Although premium liquor wasn't on tap, we never found it to be a problem as we were drinking Appleton and ginger ale most of the time, with a pina colada or rum punch mixed in occasionally. In a nutshell, we found this resort clean, well maintained, has friendly staff, good food and entertainment and would not hesitate making a return trip in the future.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Amazing Trip!

The minute we stepped into the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Resort I new that our week was going to be amazing. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are wonderful and the food was delicious every single day. We ate at all three of the à la carte restaurants and the Cajun and Steak house were our favourites. The buffet had different themes every night for dinner. Lots of options that were all very good. Drinks were all delicious! The cleaning ladies always did an excellent job of our rooms. Beer fridge was always full. Also, a great plus is the tap water is drinkable. Great for families, couples, singles....this resort won't disappoint.

Catalonia Montego Bay: Good time at this resort!

The hotel is your average Holiday Inn. I've been too several all inclusive resorts for the same price and received much better service, accommodations and food. Regardless, we still made the best out of our vacation. Only a handful of employees seemed happy to be working there. Our room was spacious but we had a lot of ants and some type of wood mites. Our housekeeping lady was amazing!! She always created such beautiful towel sculptures for my kids to admire!! Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Good Bang for your Buck Place!

The Good - Long nice Beach , Had Decent food , Nice Looking rooms with showers with good water pressure and temperatures , staff were nice , place was clean and a lot of stuff to keep the kids occupied The bad - skimpy on alcohol in the drinks , bed was not very comfortable and mosquitos , bar unable to make certain drinks at times. No Major problems Overall for the price I would recommend this place

Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall: Great Resort

The service and friendliness of the staff was amazing. The resort was very well kept. If there is one thing that I would have liked, it would be a longer beach or the ability to walk along connecting beaches.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Amazing time

I had a wonderful experience at the Bahia Príncipe. Staff were so friendly and considerate, food was AMAZING, loved the room, only minor thing was that our bathtub plug didn't work to enjoy the jet tub but that wasn't anything to complain about. Amazing place to go to:) I can't say enough how amazing the food was :)))) five stars here :)

Couples Tower Isle: Incredible resort

This was our 4th visit to Couples Tower Isle. The resort, staff, food and atmosphere all incredible. The hotel itself has super sea views, there's always a free beach or pool chaise and the food, out of this world. It's a very GLAM resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Absolutely stunning!!

Food and drinks were amazing. Very friendly staff and easy to navigate around the resort. Entertainment is top notch as well the beach. Second visit to this resort and would go again very soon. Kerol and Adain at the pool bar are awesome guys.

Sandals Jamaica Dunn's River: Small beach

Entrance of hotel is very nice,the grounds are well kept,the rooms are a little outdated,they need some work in the rooms.The beach front is a little small I am used to walking the beach,I would have to say that is my biggest issue with this resort.The staff was amazing we had an issue with needing two double beds,that problem was resolved before we even finished a drink.They were the most friendly people I have seen.The food was fantastic they had different themes at the buffets, which was nice [... read more] not to have repetishes meals every night.Entertainment was okay have seen better at other resorts.Over all it was a great time would I go back most certainly yes

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Just so so for Jamaica

This was my third trip to Jamaica and my least satisfied experience. The food was good. The drinks: they never had tequila or vodka and when they did have Gin they had no mix only orange Fanta, the wine was not drinkable and I never asked for Rye or Whisky since I figured they had none. It was very much like the 3 1/2 star I was at last year in Cuba. However, in Cuba, you get great service. No service at this hotel. Every employee I encountered seemed to despise travellers as well as their job. [... read more] There is no activities other than one spot at the pool where there is a very uninterested MC barely asking people to join. The night life is non-existent. The shows seemed like they were preformed by a high school group. So we only went three nights and were disappointed those three nights. We booked at this resort because of a wedding. The wedding ceremony was nice but there were three weddings happening at the same time in the same restaurant. So you could hear everyone's speeches. It was odd and uncomfortable. There is a lot of segregation at the Grand Bahia Principe. Depending on how much you spent or which side you were on - luxury, adult or where I was - I am guessing the general pop - you got the service and experience you paid for. You can't go on the luxury side and there are segregated areas everywhere for the luxury people. Yuk. They get the best of everything while the rest have to beg for a working toilet. I ended up changing rooms twice because of a broken toilet and on another occasion because there was already someone in the room they gave me. Needless to say, it was very disappointing.

Legends Beach Resort: such a disappointment -

Check in was fine, friendly lady Beach , too small for the amount of chairs, very crowded vendors,, in your face all the time, day and night , very aggressive and harassing, even walking on the beach , put things in your bag and ask for $$ or compensation all the time, pretend to be your friends but in reality they are not, same for jewelry vendors put things on your wrist and next thing you know you are committed to buy it,,,, did not appreciate that keep saying "respect " ,,, well we did not  [... read more]think so, no respect at all Accommodation : was on superior room ocean view Bed was hard as a brick, very uncomfortable , did not sleep well during my journey, returned with a backache shower : no pressure, a stream for hot water, so we had to opt for cold water showers ocean view , well if you stand up it is with a view on the sea and the vendors waving at you, if not you got a cement wall, location : this resort is next to Bourbon Beach Bar, place where locals hang out, not recommended for safety ( just an example ,we got threatened to be killed over a beer) again they follow you on the beach to your resort Also music so loud until 3. am daily,, the whole room was shaking so the bed, we had to leave the TV on to diffuse a bit the noise,. street close by: great but again, you walk and get asked to buy drugs, or harassed Shopping mall across the street, : convenient Decent place for a drink & food : small Italian cafe which was quiet and very nice food : was good, but small variety, to be expected from small resort service : friendly , kind and finally, i suggest that you verify with the airline, airport prior leaving, the Sunwing rep , misinformed us on our pick up time, we have told her several time that we had checked directly with airline carrier and airport as well my ticket and she did not bother to verify or better yet rectify, if we would have listened to her we would have spent 12 hours waiting at the airport prior our flight ???????? we had to call ourselves customer service to have the proper time for pick up which was 4:15 pm. the positive,side was: We had sun daily, hot, beautiful beach ,site and sunsets, water warm , did an excursion in snorkeling and stop to a deserted island ( saw many fishes ,) horse riding,( horses look healthy ) value : thought we paid too much for what we received we have been very disappointed. happy to be home and safe. I recommend to go to a secluded resort, where there is security and control, it is not like it used to be, was told by a local at the hotel ,,, We went Jewel Dunn's beach resort in Ocho Rios in May and it was amazing,, our experience was positive across the board maybe more expensive but WORTH it, i am usually looking at the positive side of things , but it this case the negative overthrew the positive.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Beautiful resort; our room experience not good

I wish I could provide a better review but we paid for the luxury Bahia Principe, adults-only side of the hotel and were assigned rooms in the family area. The room itself had some problems - the sink was blocked and there was leakage around the toilet. In addition there was no soap, face cloths or hand towels available. During the first few days we dropped by several times to the Luxury Bahia Lounge and employees there noted our complaints and one even mentioned to us that they would move us to [... read more] the Luxury side but that never happened. I also called the Concierage by telephone about sending us the missing bathroom items but to no avail. It was not until day 4 when we ran into the resort's Executive Assistant Manager at an Air Canada welcome tour reception and listed our issues with her that any action was taken to address the toilet leak and sink problems. I am very grateful to her and she was a bonafide professional and the company should be very proud to have her represent them.

Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall: So nice, I went twice

The staff, food & resort were perfection. I love the food, which can make or break a vacation. Many of the staff actually remembered me from 7 months earlier, which was a pleasant surprise. I recommend this to anyone that wants 5 star food & staff. In the 7 months I noticed more upgrades to the resort. Better all the time.

Riu Ocho Rios: Lovely stay with few complaints

Hotel was very nice. Stayed in Deluxe Wing after changed from Adults only on Nov.1st. Only complaint about room was bed -- pushed two double beds together to make a king - was horrible...crack right in middle where beds would separate! Would rather have had one single queen or king. Nice sitting area, well maintained although looking a little worn with some broken bathroom tiles. Stayed for two weeks, and second week was crazy busy (tons of people came for a few days over the American Thanksgivi [... read more]ng holiday) so will time it to avoid this next time - challenge to get loungers. Beach was good, but couldn't walk too far either way because it was impassable. Great jerk chicken hut for lunch on beach. Fruit selection was a bit disappointing - not much fruit native to Jamaica -- no fresh pineapple, coconut, mango or papaya -- served melon, apples, grapes and sometimes kiwi. Disappointed that mandarins and pineapple were canned... Steakhouse and Japanese a la cartes very good...Mandalay not so much - just another buffet. Staff very friendly, cheerful, happy, good service. Long ride from airport. Booked ClubMobay for return home....wouldn't do it again, disappointing. Took Blue Mountain Bike Tour -- would recommend it. Other travellers who were familiar with Riu chain told us this hotel was not as good as others they stayed at. We would probably book other than Riu next time. But let's keep perspective -very minor disappointments, overall great relaxing two weeks.

Couples Tower Isle: It's all about the food.

Food is the best from all the Couples resorts. It was the best I have had in the 9 times I have been to Jamaica. The resort itself is beautiful. Rooms are old and dated but were always super clean. If you are looking for a beach this is not the place for you. It is very small and the water had alot of waves. The staff were very good and super polite. I would return here strickly for the food. It was that good.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: Very Good

Open concept, beautiful breathe from the ocean right into the lobby. Nice walk between the units and to the main lobby. Great friendly staff, probably people of that island are the highlight of the trip. The unit walls not well isolated, easy to hear people talking when ur trying to sleep. Cricket sounds at night, eventually u get used to that. Now the food...not bad overall many choices. The desserts are a disaster. Every time in went to get dessert (my reason for having a meal). I kept thinkin [... read more]g whoever is making these desserts should be fired. Sorry harsh but really a waste of flour, sugar and butter. Except one night, happens to be my last, a panacotta dessert....amazing. Ice cream... that chocolate soft ice cream. I couldn't get the first spoon in past my lips and pushed it away along with the cake, pastry....whatever that's suppose to be considered. The ingredients are there, just hire someone who can put it all together right. Sorry harsh but better be truthful since no one is judging. Otherwise it was a nice place to be. Oh the rooms where beautifully decorated.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: A very relaxing stay

The grounds and amenities are fabulous,. Great main pool, nice adult pool too. There are several restaurants, buffet is available for every meal with a good selection for each meal; good full service restaurants as well. The Mexican was our favorite one! Housekeeping services are variable and fairly slow. You need to accept that requests are dealt with on "Jamaican time" (some of the staff actually use this phrase). They ran out of clean towels at the pools a few days and it took quite a while for the staff to get around to bringing more towels. Overall a really good vacation but you need to be patient, be in holiday mode.
