This was a grand resort. Quite large and had lots of amenities.
The main hotel is tall structure, however we stayed in the new addition. No beach views, but the room was great and spacious.
Pools were well maintained and beautiful. We could get a spot most days after breakfast.
Food was good, no complaints. Bamboo (asian resto) was by far the best! highly recommend making a reso.
Given the size of the resort, I was surprised there wasn't more food options. 2 breakfast buffets, 1 lunch bu[... read more]ffet and 1 lunch poolside taco/hamburger bar, and then dinner was 2 buffets, 2 reso restaurants and an Italian type restaurant but not requiring reso.
the best part of the resort was the people who worked there. They were all very nice, accommodating and willing to help whenever needed.
beach was very nice and well maintained. We went with toddler, and it was very family friendly!
Things that could have been improved:
- check in was fast, but sloppy. not personalized and they didn't tell us how to get to our room. we wandered 1/2 hour until we figured out we were in the new addition.
-the hotel map should have more details on it (room blocks).

Riu Playacar: Fantastic place
We had a great time at this resort, excellent service from the front desk to the housekeeping people. Everyone had a smile and were quick to help with any request. Two of the best things were no reservations for ala cart and men did not have to wear long pants. The ala carts were busy but people were seated quickly and food came hot and delicious with minimal wait. The resort is very clean with plenty of staff to serve you weather it was drinks on the beach or at the bar, buffet service was [... read more]also top notch with a great variety of food to choose from. Would definitely return to this resort!!

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Not a 5 star
Hotel and room was absolutely beautiful, food was a hit or miss. Had to make reservations for restaurants sometimes long wait as multiple people were also there, you could leave and come back but same situation. Beach was awful rocky and not just near the water sand itself is not soft but rocky need beach shoes or sandals always. Would not return as overall experience was not what I expected

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Decent resort, great people
In terms of cleaning this is one of the best hotels we stayed at . It is however very large, busy resort . Lots of families with kids , even the adult pools were always packed and all afternoon there was a Mexican band playing on the beach . The quality of the food in the restaurants was not the best . Expected a lot better

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Barcelo Tropical 2023
We have just returned home from 2 weeks at the Tropical. This was our second trip to Barcelo and
We will def be booking again, requesting the VeraCruz builiding on the 3rd floor. Reg Room was perfect for us and again we had zero issues and zero complaints.
We had 9 a la cartes and only booked 6 as honestly the many Buffet varieties around the resort and Room Service were plenty.
Ask Jose Pascar (sp?) at the Tropical swim up bar for a Jose Special and then ask the young bartenders Albend[... read more]ro (sp?) and Jorge are fun to watch try and duplicate them.
Some of the less experienced Bartenders and Serving Staff will be guided and trained in time, so be gracious and patient and remember you are on vacation!
The pool women who serve endlessly and tirelessly are so lovely and keep you hydrated and a smile, tip and thank you go a long way.
Vanessa and Guadalupe in the main buffet never let the water, coffee and beverages go empty and were genuinely kind and didnt rush the meal.
The garden crews are amazing to see how they keep the grounds lush and vibrant and the beach team… wow what a job they have and do daily!
We cannot say enough good about our experience as we feel we got great value for our cost!

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: We love it here
2nd time visiting the Royal Decameron. Safe to say we would consider a 3 rd trip Staff are wonderful and the grounds are beautiful. Walking distance to Bucerias! Room rates are affordable. This is not a 5 star so don’t expect it to be. It’s not fancy. Very laid back. We spent the majority of our time at the adults pool. Made some wonderful new friends and talked to so many amazing people. Many great laughs too. Disco was a hoot. The Buildings are dated but beautiful. The rooms can use s[... read more]ome updating but didn’t bother us. The ala carte restaurants were great. The reservation system needs to be changed. It was a pain in the arse to get up and walk to the lobby and book by 8:00 am every single day We were pretty lucky. Some not so much :( what if you didn’t own a device? Very sad. Wifi needs to be in ALL rooms. A really nice assortment of all ages here. Smoking wasn’t too big of a problem but this resort should consider smoking sections but not at pool side! Gross. The Buffets were okay. My favourite was breakfast or lunches. This resort is large. We got lots of exercise! There is no pool side service here which we’re used to but we survived We would recommend this resort. Some staff wearing masks. Some guests too. It’s really nice to see this resort operating at almost full capacity since everything was shut down for so long. It was wonderful to be back. Tip.. Bring lots of 20 & 50 dollar pesos for tipping. It’s challenging getting larger bills broken down. The staff greatly appreciate you.

Beautiful place. Amazing staff. It was our first time in Mexico and we can’t wait to go back to Akumal Bay Beach Resort. Weather wasn’t great (very windy, couldn’t snorkel every day) but it didn’t spoil our vacation.

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Good friendly resort with incredible staff
Over all we were very happy apart from one incident where a wedding was taking place and the wedding party were in the bar area until 1.30 am screaming and shouting.
The bar area was under our room.
When my husband rang the desk to ask that it be toned down he was told curtly that the wedding party has permission to have the area until 1am.
He was also told that we should not hear it as we were on the sixth floor.
The area was open to the high ceiling so anyone who had a room above that wo[... read more]uld have heard it.
The noise was toned down somewhat but not stopped until 2 pm.
We did not allow that incident to mar our holiday but were disappointed at the response to a civil request.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing Vacation!!
I’ve been to this resort 5 or 6 times and it’s safe to say i’ve never been disappointed!! Ignore any negative reviews, everything about this vacay was to die for. Only complaint was that it should have been a longer stay. Drinks are endless and the bartenders are so friendly (order the Miami Vice, Cosmopolitan, or the Riviera Maya every time). Make sure to book your reservations because the buffet is amazing but the restaurants are such a unique experience! The Teppanyaki bar was dinner an[... read more]d a show. I recommend making time for the shows, especially the magic show which had my jaw DROPPED. Also, if you’re doing an excursion (which are so much fun) such as Xplor or Xcaret, bring water shoes!! You need closed toed shoes & will definitely need them if you don’t want to ruin your sneakers (and buy them before to avoid paying $50 USD like we did). I cant wait to be back!! btw location 4/5 just because it’s so far from the airport & you have to stop at like 6 other resorts first making for a long bus ride

Oleo Cancun Playa: Nice beach resort
The hotel was always being cleaned and well maintained. The standard room was not as pretty as the feature photos, that was a let down. The 2 towels per day were old and needed
To be refreshed. The food was good, but limited in options. The beach was amazing, the staff was always kind and courteous. Overall we enjoyed our holiday.

Secrets Mirabel Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing staff, old resort.
Fantastic managers and staff though the entire resort! They are always welcoming, super happy to see you and amazingly accommodating to your needs. Decent pool with an unobstructed view on the sea and beach line. Beachfront is clean and not over crowded allowing you to fully enjoy the beautiful beach. Most of the restaurants had decent food but we loved Chi Chi Mediterranean restaurant and the French place. Also the burger place is really good too! Texana burger recommended! The buffet breakfast[... read more] and lunch were always good. The resort room on the other hand were not up to standards- I had to switch rooms 2 times- all 3 rooms had the same issues. The air condition vents and wooden slats over the sinks in all rooms have a thick layer of dust and debris not great for dust and mite allergies. The bathtubs are falling apart, with rusty open drain holes, bubbling tub paint, mouldy clothes line above the tub and the sewer smell of the drain near the toilet. First 2 ocean front rooms with a balcony had a loud whistling sound because the doors do not have a seal. Gave up the ocean view room to lagoon view to get a peaceful nights sleep. This resort is about 20 minutes from Cancun city and the public bus stops at the resort. About 15 minutes to the nightlife near Coco Bongo. And an hour to Playa Del Carmen and 5th Avenue shopping area. 15minutes to the airport! So you get to your vacation really quick!

TRS Coral: Probably the nicest resort we've visited. Ever.
TRS Coral, part of the Grand Palladium group in Costa Mujeres, was fantastic.
Great pool, nice rooms, wonderful staff. excellent food.
Fun atmosphere with a ton of choices of entertainment, dining, dancing, lounging, etc.
We met friends from Indiana at this resort and they too said it was the nicest place they'd visited, and we have all travelled a fair bit!
We liked this TRS Coral so much that we would definitely consider going again.
Taking the boat on the lazy river to dinner at the Gran[... read more]d Palladium was a fun little extra touch. The show at CHIC Cabaret was well worth the small additional ticket price.
Staff were, without exception, excellent.

Smart Cancun By Oasis: There Feb 24/23 to March 3/23
Overall, good hotel. Walking in, it’s a very run of the mill small hotel lobby, clean and had a beautiful smell. Staff was pleasant but we were taken by surprise by the $50 U.S. hotel fee. At first, the rooms look nice but the bare basics as far as cleaning was done. Mirrors were dirty, swing out mirror was filthy, bad smell in the mini fridge but the floors, washroom and bed were acceptable. NO BALCONY ON THE 4th, 5th and 6th floors-(only on 2nd and 3rd). I feel the cleaning staff have their [... read more]hands full because they do start cleaning mid morning and are still cleaning early evening... (I do believe it’s just one housekeeper per floor).
Pool area: probably one of the prettiest most comfy spots I’ve ever come across. Beautifully done and clean! This hotel is close to everything and perfectly located being close to Costco, Walmart, a great market across the street. We made our own meals, which was great. 12 pesos gets you to the beach (roughly 2.6 km from the hotel) and 12 pesos back. Unbeatable location and great price! Had a very relaxing time and may very well go back!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Excellent Resort
We stayed at this same location in 2020 prior to covid and it was amazing!
The resort food was excellent once again this year but starting to see it needs a bit of tender care in the bedrooms. Nothing really bad but some simple repairs.
I definitely would go again, so that says it all!

Plaza Pelicanos Grand: Love this Resort!
This was our second stay at this resort. No complaints! Accommodations are nice, beds are comfortable. The buffet and a la cart restaurant are great - the food is excellent. The staff is always friendly and accommodating to any request. Generally, there are loungers available around the pool and on the beach.
Due to construction at the resort next door, it is loud around the pool during the day coupled with the pool activities.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Grand Serenis Riviera Maya = Kind of Good \ Sunwing Airlines = Trash
The resort was just okay. I experienced some very good meals in the a la carte restaurants, but as far as the buffets went, they were hit or miss.
On my last at the resort I went for breakfast in front lobby buffet at 8am, and it turned out they must of decided to re-heat various food items left over from the previous day. Wow! I don’t mind bacon hot & crisp, but slightly warmed, greasy & hard? No thank you! Also, it wasn’t uncommon for the towel guy to give someone attitude if they didnâ€[... read more]™t happen to have cash on them to tip him when returning their towel. Wow again!
Even getting maid service to supply my room with a simple bar of soap required some work. Did I miss something, or are travellers expected to bring their own soap these days? I tipped the maid every day but one, and that was only because she came quite early when had stepped out for an early breakfast, and she opted not to re-stock my fridge, and I suspect that might have intentional. One would be well advised to carry a fist full of bills on at all times when venturing through out the resort. This a beautiful resort, and the entertainment very good! The worst part of my trip to the Grand Serenis Riviera was travelling with Sunwing! I will never book with Sunwing Airlines again! When the going gets bad, they go missing!
They don’t have the slightest idea what term Customer Service means!

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Fantastic week!
The resort met all our expectations.
Lots of amenities for families was the main draw for us. We stayed at a similar resort last year in DR and our family really enjoyed the Lazy River and mini putt there. When booking this trip finding those offerings, in our preferred destination Mexico proved challenging. Planet Hollywood was a solid choice and I’d recommend to anyone looking for similar and who plan on relaxing at the resort and having things to do without leaving the resort. Weâ€[... read more]™ve been travelling for more than 20 years and the “tier†systems at resorts are more prevalent than ever before. We did not book Star Class, and were satisfied with the service and offerings, however the color of your bracelet was noted. We were on vacation, and weren’t in a rush to be seated, and weren’t requiring “top shelf†alcohol. If this sounds like something you require, I would recommend upgrading to avoid disappointment. We did pre-select our room and received the one we paid for. That is a nice option if you don’t want to roll the dice on the location of your room. Our transfers with Sunwing were smooth and efficient. No complaints whatsoever. The resort location in relation to “Cancun strip†is quite a trek. We’ve stayed all over the strip and in the Riveria. If you want to see the ruins, or go out to clubs I wouldn’t stay in this area personally. There are so many resorts being built/newly constructed nearby that look amazing in this area. The beach was very large and they regularly cleaned up any sargasso that came in. The wind the week we were there was very strong, one day the resort required all the shade umbrella to be kept closed for safety. I’m not sure if that is the normal for this area, but that day no one was on the beach because the sand was literally blowing! The food offerings were very good, the buffet was better than most resorts in terms of variety and quality. The burgers, pizza take out, and sports bar made up for that for us, but may not for everyone. We’d return next week (wishful thinking), next month, or next year!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Best Vacation Ever!
As a nurse, on vacation, I am now burdened with the concern regarding Covid19 while traveling. The hotel had many hand sanitization stations at main points around the hotel, as well as every entrance in a dining room area. Staff were friendly and the space between us always felt safe. We were able to pick how often our room was cleaned, and upon witnessing the cleaning while walking by other rooms, the housekeeping was thorough and I saw them wipe down high touch areas (even the balcony railings[... read more]). The food was amazing, I couldn't get enough! I have nothing bad to say, except I wish I had booked a longer vacation because I didn't want to leave.
