Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: It is what it is !!

Pros : ------ Beach as good as you'll find anywhere ------ Food is good ... buffet is a belly buster ---- rooms clean and beds comfortable Cons: ---- communication difficult ( think we were first English speaking people they had met ! ) --- very large resort --- take time when arrive to orientate When we arrived at room ; -- safe didn't work ( was replaced) -- pole lamp broke (replaced) -- no TV remote provided later  [... read more] -- balcony light not working First night we couldn't get AC to work and roasted all night -- weren't told balcony door had to be totally closed ( hard) or wouldn't start!! I believe if they were just a bit more proactive that perhaps would take just a bit more training and maybe a few dollars your arrival /trip could be so much better. For instance, when staff arrives after your checkout , do a walkabout checking to see if everything works. If not, report so corrected before you arrive. Believe missing a valuable resource by not having bellboys show where things are and how they work in your room . They seem to just want a nice tip for throwing bags in room !!?? Remember --- this is an all-inclusive and low budget . By the way , you can get GREAT SERVICE and just about anything you want -- it just takes CASH . I had one local answer me one day when having a problem and she was very honest , smiled and said " Dominican " !!! We added a package offered by Air Transat called Royal Golden and would highly recommend. IT IS WHAT IT IS !!!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: 2nd visit.. disappointed and wont be returning to this resort

My 2nd visit to this resort and to say the least.. very disappointed from my first visit and will not be returning. The customer service was not the greatest and it seemed like the staff couldn't care less if you were there or not, we spend over $3500.00 per couple to come to a 5 star resort.. they should remove 2 stars and list it as a 3 star. Upon arrival, there is no welcome drink, we were rushed into the lobby area, told to sit, advised that a $6 USD charge for the safe per day was if we w [... read more]anted the safe. Our credit card was provided for deposit, I was not given a key like my other friends and was told that my room key would work the safe. NO such thing.. I had to return to the front desk to request a key, which did not work. I then called the front desk to inform them my key was not working and was directed to a voicemail that was full. I did not get back to the front desk until the next day and guess what.. I was charged $6 USD for the one day of a safe not working and had to pay them cash.. unreal. We are a group of 10 people and some are early risers that like to take in the sunshine. Two of my friends were up early and asked one of the staff if there was coffee available until the buffet opened and simply got a NO; however, there is coffee set up on the open terrace on the landing each morning for guests to enjoy. I had emailed several times prior to arriving to try and get our a la carte's booked ahead of time and was informed that our request was sent to public relations where the bookings are done; however, no guarantee we could be accommodated. Our dinner reservations were mixed up from the start. Upon arrival we were provided our packages, I was not told that there was an envelope with our restaurant bookings (only 1 out of the 3 done) in my package and spent an hour upon arriving at the public relations desk trying to get sorted out. I was able to get the steakhouse booked; however, they could not seat all of us together table of 10 was told largest table was 8, that was fine so put 6 and 4 per table. They booked 6 under my room and the other 4 under someone else room not even in our group??. They can accommodate large tables for weddings thou but not 10??? I don't get it. The Italian restaurant (which was booked on our behalf of the manager due to other issues) we were told there was no booking for us when we arrived for our reservation . We then went to double check with public relations desk to find there was no booking reserved for us; however, when the manager who booked it called the next day followed up with us to find out how our dinner was, we found out an email was sent to the restaurant indicating our booking and not an actual reservation (we were given verbal not written receipt). We were told each manager has a phone with email's; however, no one bothered to check their emails to confirm and we were simply told we were not booked for 6:30. The food was not the greatest at the buffet and found several cockroaches crawling over food and on the floor and also in the bathrooms. One friends room smelled like mold and you were bitten within minutes of being in the room (took some work but got them moved to a nicer / cleaner room). The swim up bar constantly ran out of booze and ice. The casino bar had premium drinks for a cost which is fine and we had no problem paying; however, no one knew the cost of a drink that would be charged to your room?? I am one to take trip advisor with a grain of salt when planning a trip; however, after this experience I will take a closer look. Very disappointed return vacation

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Beautiful Resort

This was my third time to this resort and I would go back in a heat beat. Very clean and the food as tasty and there was a large variety of different types of food, friendly staff. The ocean water was a bit dark but that could be because of all the rain. Stayed in block E4 close to everything, ocean and pool view.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: 50th Birthday Vacation

The resort was very nice and staff extremely friendly. Food was great. Trying to book a restaurant was an absolute nightmare. There were 11 in our party and they could not accommodate us in any of the restaurants (even though I contacted the resort and travel agent ahead of schedule informing them of the size of our party and tried to pre-book restaurants for 3 of the 7 nights), every restaurant was more than half empty each night, so this was extremely frustrating and spoilt an otherwise wonder [... read more]ful trip. It was a 50th birthday celebration so we expected to be able to eat as a group a couple of times. Also requested flowers and champagne (again ahead of schedule) in the room as a birthday surprise and this did not happen)!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Amazing resort!

We had the best time! Staff were amazing, resort was beautiful, always something to eat. Third time in the Bahia principe chain and I highly recommend it! Will be returning in the near future. Thanks !!!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Beautiful Resort

This is a very beautiful resort, the grounds are well looked after and clean. The rooms are clean and have everything needed to enjoy your stay. It has the most amazing beach and the Three pools were nice too. The staff are friendly and helpful and go out of there to make your stay enjoyable, would definitely recommend this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Incredible Resort

Everything and everyone were amazing at the Luxury Bahia Principle Akumal. The staff would go out of their way to please and entertain you. The resort rooms were clean and very roomy. The buffets and a la cart were outstanding. The beaches were beautiful.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Fantastic resort. Dont miss this one

What a beautiful place to spend a week. Gorgeous pools, sandy beaches all groomed to perfection. Food and entertainment was exceptional. All employees were kind and courteous. Not a bad word to say! Cant wait for next year.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Absolutely amazing resort

This hotel is way more beautiful then the pictures can portray. The staff are so friendly, the grounds are well manicured, the foid is delicious and endless. The location and beach are beautiful, white sand beaches with no rocks excellent for relaxing. This resort is definely a must see and very safe.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Really nice but beware of "adults only"

We absolutely loved this resort however it was our first time staying "adults only" and I don't think we'd worry about it again. Small children can be annoying to those of us who are past that stage in our lives. ..but so can children who are young adults that drink too much, smoke too much, and feel it's ok to be rude to other guests,demanding to staff, urinate at night on the grounds and be really noisy at 2am. Upgraded to oceanfront room last 3 nights and glad we did however resort was slooooooow to get the move in place

Cayo Levantado Resort: Amazing Resort

This Hotel was fabulous, luxurious and being on an island was fantastic. The grounds were beautifully kept, my little villa was fantastic with a king size bed and Jacuzzi. The Don Pablo restaurant was my favourite, however the buffet breakfast was awesome lot's of variety, as well as many choice's for lunch and dinner. Also 24hr room service, staff were amazing, helpful and always friendly. Everywhere was incredibly clean. Amazing visit, can't wait to go back.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Not worth the money !!!!!!

The worst resort I have ever stay the people for the most part was really rude. The bar runnning out of ice was very common and no dark rum in stock. Also never towels there on time alway had to wait a hour . The bathroom lights were out or the doors were locked no toilet paper . Jets not working in the pool . The list could go on but customer service was the worst . I would never recommend this resort to anyone not worth the money at all .

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing resort

Loved it. Family vacation, service was great. Beach awesome. One issue was not enough clean towels at the pool for exchanging. Restaurants were good but hard to get reservations at 6 PM and we ate late a lot. There was construction directly behind our rooms and the construction crews worked day and until 11 PM at night. Noisy when in the rooms but not in the room that often. But they woke us up at 7 AM.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Such a wonderful resort!!!

We stayed at the Luxury Bahia Akumal March 30th-April 6th, 2017 and had the best time. I went with my husband and 18 year old son as well as my parents. The staff here are so incredibly sweet, we just loved them. The grounds are so beautiful. We would enjoy an evening trolley ride to the other resorts (Coba and Tulum) just to sight see. The resort is huge but the trolleys were always only a 5 minute wait to take you anywhere. The food in the buffet was simply delicious....and OMG the dese [... read more]rts!!! We went to 4 ala cartes, the Brazilian, Mexican, gourmet and Japanese. The Mexican restaurant was so delicious and the entertainment was so fun. The mariachi band were amazing and would go to every table and play you a song and goof around with everyone and were always ready to pose for pictures with you. The Brazilian is a must...so much meat on a stick :) yum!!!! The beach was just ok...BUT...the man made lagoons were so much fun and had so many fish in them. You didn't usually see too many unless you fed them pieces of bread, then there are hundreds of them. I absolutely looked forward to this every day! I would suggest wearing water shoes as it is quite rocky. My mother is abit nervous of the big waves so this lagoon was perfect for her and she had so much fun....we all did!!! There is an adult beach and infinity pool at the end of the Akumal beach, this was where we spent most of our days. There's an awesome lunch buffet and bar there too, and a trolley to take you back to the lobby or your room. It was heaven! The rooms were beautiful. Always had an abundance of hot water, fridge stocked and room cleaned daily. The only down side was the hard mattress, however in my parents room their bed was nice and soft. Guess it is hit or miss there. I emailed the resort prior to our arrival requesting a villa near the pool and lobby as my parents are elderly and they accommodated us completely...we had the best location in my opinion. We stayed in villa 49....so perfect! Thank you Akumal, we will be back!!!!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Excellent hotel in an excellent location

I really enjoyed this hotel. It was huge and there was lots to do. I especially like the location it was close to a lot of beautiful places in this area of Mexico. The staff are friendly, the entertainment was good and the people travelling were nice. All in all five star resort and I would go back. Special shout out to Gerardo at the entrance of the lobby for helping us out.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Good resort

Very nice resort. Food at the buffet was very good, and the same for the main Don Pablo restaurant. However the Food at the Asian restaurant was awful. The beach does not have the fine white sands, and even the ocean is not clear. Friendly staff. Over all a good experience.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Beautiful resort - fairly new. Well maintained. Lots of flowering plants but only a few in variety. A few mango plants. Overall clean and good ambiance.

About 3 year old resort. Well manicured and well maintained hotel grounds. Beautiful swimming pools and good access to the beach. Man-made beach - basically corals covered with imported sand. Not clear water and there was about 30 cm (1 ft) drop in beach level (underwater) about two meters from the shore line - caught many people by surprise. Beach walk was limited to about 1 to 2 km on either side. Lots of private / resort development ongoing along the beach front. We walked every day and excep [... read more]t for a few places, where the sand covering was shallow, the overall ambiance was good. Missed the blue / green water of Punta Cana. Good buffet restaurants, good service and good food. Most service staff spoke decent English. Room staff - less so. Front staff - a little less attentive. Speciality restaurants were OK - nothing outstanding. Stick to sea food. Keep away from the Sushi and Japanese cuisine (in the Asian restaurant). There were no lobsters, few scallops. Mostly shrimps and clams. Took a day trip to Santa Domingo - Older guide (kept on calling us his family - every few minutes). Well versed but had problem with his English - perhaps French was better. Not worth the 75 US$ cost.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Nice resort very large though

The Bavaro resort is quite nice although it's very large. Sometimes hard to find chairs at the beach and pools. When it's raining there's not much to do but drink in the lobby which is packed. Juan at the lobby bar is exceptional!! Always smiling and going above and beyond to make people happy. Food is great variety and quite tasty not sure why people complain about it. The entertainment staff is severely lacking and quite possibly not even present at this resort. Example: volleyball net in the [... read more] pool but pool staff guy was quite rude - wouldn't give us a volleyball- said we had to buy one from the lady with the snack shack 29$ US. This was highly disappointing considering all other resorts we have been to have daily volleyball in the pool as a way to get guests to socialize and have fun together. Overall the resort is so large I likely wouldn't go back. It's well kept always kept clean but aside from a handful of good staff, I feel there's a larger number of staff that treat you like you're an inconvenience For instance the towel exchange fella I actually offered him a tip if he'd crack a smile - nope! (I have experienced this Dominican wide though, not just here)

Not as good as we remember. It was our second time here, and we had alot of issues with our room. The construction next door sucks but isn't the hotels fault. Our air conditioner leaked for 3 days into jacuzzi before being fixed. Then it stopped working completely one night and I called and complained. Nothing was done until I found a maintenance guy and brought him into room and showed him how to bypass it. The food and grounds are beyond amazing! We were disappointed by our room this time; we had a shower stall that was not clean (mould around the base and covering the shower head), our air conditioner was leaking into the jacuzzi tub and the maid staff didn't stock the mini fridge or provide soap. Although these may seem like minor details we wasted more time than I wanted attempting to communicate and get what we needed.
