Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: An awesome time

We had a great time with friends at Iberostar Playa Mita. Beach was wonderful, water was warm. Amenities were ample. Food was delicious, hosts were all consistently warm and friendly. Our room was comfortable with a king size bed and balcony overlooking the amazing courtyard. All in all it was a great experience. We booked on-line but after coming back and walking past a travel agency in the mall I stopped in and made a 100 % recommendation for Iberostar Playa Mita. Would not recommend tourist t [... read more]o volunteer for nightly 9:30 pm show. Could be embarrassing.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Great property

This was the first all-inclusive trip that we have done in the past 5 years, wow what a intro back into the all inclusive scene. The hotel is small compared to that other properties in the area. Every detail was exceptional, food, service, beach and pool. Will definitely be back to this property .

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: needs a few upgrades

the hotel staff were all great. nice dispositions, smiles, sincere that you spent your money visiting Cuba. Could not ask for nicer, friendlier people. The grounds were well-kept, manicured etc. The buffet closest to the beach however seemed to have an inordinate amount of flies circulating over the salad bar. The resort rooms need to be upgraded. The bathroom is dated. I mean who actually uses a tub these days? The mattress on my bed was springy, not conducive to a pleasant night's sleep. The p [... read more]illows are about 30% the size of a pillow you would have on your bed and there was only one on my bed. I tried to use the pillows off the couch, but they smelled bad. Eating in the a la carte restaurants was pretty good but the buffet restaurant was hit & miss. Have your eggs prepared at the grill. I know it could be a wait there but if you choose the scrambled eggs which are already set to self serve from a tray, you will end up having a cold breakfast. I went to the buffet when they had just opened their doors. Rather than wait for the grille, I scooped up some scrambled eggs, bacon & sausages and sat down to enjoy a nice breakfast. All COLD! What's up with that? And their yogurt is like soup. They don't heat anything or keep any food hot. I have to say I really enjoyed the pasta served at the grill...made to your specs. Delicious! And the service in the buffet restaurant....exceptional. The beaches are phenomenal, beautiful turquoise colored water, very clear and you can find shells on the beach. The only drawback to either the pool or beach bars is they serve their beer in mini glasses. And, by the way, the towels in the room were terrible. We ended up using the beach towels we got instead. I wouldn't use those room towels in my house.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Excellent experience

This resort was very clean well maintained grounds and buildings the service was great you could get good food at any time of day. The evening theater shows were great .Bar service was excellent special thanks to Denis The hardest working guy i ever met.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Small but nice

The resort was small and easy to get around. Not much to do,but that was ok we wanted RR time. Staff received you well, always accommodating to your needs. On some occasions you needed to ask for a drink when the bar staff was cleaning up your table. We found the maids were not very friendly, what I mean by that is they never smiled, they would reply to your good morning and even that didn't seem sincere. Rooms kept clean, we only had to ask for towels and the fridge re-stocked once. We had room 2239 great ocean view. The pool bar was great, mind you it was cold, so used a lot. I do have to say that the a La Carte restaurants did not disappoint and the buffet was good.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Very good resort

Beautiful gardens. Polite,helpful and considerate staff. Good variety of dishes at all meals. Rooms could use a coat of paint. Spa pool could use a good scrubbing as well as some chairs in the dining room.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Needs some TLC!

We stayed at the Laguna Azul in November, 2014. We got there at noon and did not get a room until 4 p.m. so the first day was wasted. This resort was built about six years ago and things are falling apart already. Light fixtures in the hallways were falling down and some lights bulbs were burned out all week. Some of the paper towel dispensers in the public washrooms didn't work all week. The buildings are beautiful and the grounds are well kept. Beach was great. Evening entertainment in the lob [... read more]by was wonderful. We found most of the staff there to be not very friendly. They didn't seem to like their job. The exception were the Star Friends. They were very good. Food at the buffet was barely warm and the buffet area was very crowded. Very poorly designed for so many people. Our room was cleaned daily but it was a quick job. Gritty sand on the floor all week. The soap dispenser in the shower was not refilled all week. It was empty on the 5th day. Bar fridge was not re-stocked every two days as it was supposed to be. The airport departure was a nightmare. It took us two hours to get from the airline check in point to get past security. They were definitely understaffed and didn't seem to care that people were in long lines waiting. Very disappointed in our stay. We won't go back to the Azul.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Great stay

We stayed at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Febuary...very clean,great staff,nice house wines,nice beach...food was prepared with great care Found our room to be quite damp as the week went on..4 th floor great view...think maybe the air conditions system was working the best

Iberostar Waves Tucan: great resort

We stayed at this resort for a week at the end of February. We found the atmosphere quiet and layed back without the previous known exubarance of the activity star staff, which was fine with us as we came to relax and take in leisure on our own accord. The staff were extremely respectful, friendly and responsive. The meals were incredible in the buffets, snack bars and the a'la carte. Great variety and freshness. There wer [... read more]e many options to pool use however I did find the depth of the pool to deep to feel comfortable swimming in but they did offer shallow swim up areas as well. The beach area was most popular but did experience great winds when we were down and the seaweed did create some distraction. This doesn't bother me so much as it is a natural process of the ocean life. The rooms were clean and well equipped. House keeping staff were extremely responsive. The rooms were a bit out dated and linens could do with a bit of refreshing! However, these things were minor when you consider the overall quality of the resort and grounds that make it very magical. The location of this resort allows one to access popular areas of Playa del Carmen to experience the nightlife and fine mexican cuisene all within walking distance. We felt safe and at home in our many walks down to Playa. You could also use the beach access to get to Playa which allows for another option.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Wonderful family vacation!

This is our 3rd time visiting this resort as a family. The beach is wonderful, and the kids waterpark and kids club is fantastic. The staff are very energetic and great with the kids. The lush green grounds are beautiful, very well maintained and extensive. The rooms are also very nice compared with other places we've stayed in, in the Carribean. I would highly recommend this resort for families looking to get a good balance of beach/pool, with great service/food in Cuba.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Wonderful Resort with the Friendliest Staff

This resort has beautiful grounds with a great pool area and outstanding beach. There was "No Problem". Always could get a lounge near the pool or on the beach, in the sun or in the shade. All of this and helpful staff too. We will go back.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Great resort

Beautiful resort, the pools are amazing, staff friendly and very helpful. There is always something going on if you want to join in or just stand back and watch. We never had to go out early to get a lounger there was always one available. The swim up bar at the Lindo was awesome, built into the rock with a waterfall. The pool at the Del Mar and Beach section is huge it goes on forever from one end of the resort to the other. Al a carte restaurants were excellent loved the Steakhouse melt in your mouth beef tenderloin, Japanese show table so much fun. I have been to probably 10 or 12 different resorts in the Caribbean and this one is definitely at the top of my list. We will be going back again for sure.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: good resort

We stayed at Iberostar Ensenachos from Feb 20 to Feb 27 2015. the hotel listed as a 5 star hotel it is not realy a 5 star but a 3.5 star. Grounds are very nice, beaches are the best in Cuba, the services needs major improvement and the food was ok.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Excellant Value

Great hotel. Beautiful beach and pool area with lots of shade. The Japanese and Brazilian theme restaurants were excellent. Did not try the Mexican since two separate people we met said they were disappointed with it. Food was good especially the fish and chicken. Beef and pork were adequate but not outstanding. Staff very friendly and not always soliciting tips.

Beautiful grounds, pool, excellent beach! The service was amazing with the exception of most of the reception staff. The Hola Sun rep was amazing always there to help resolve the issues we had with the rooms and reception not being helpful ( gave us the wrong room twice). Overall it was a good vacation, would go back in a flash!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: An Older Resort on a Beautiful Setting

Room: We arrived late evening and were without the use of a toilet that flushed until afternoon of the next day although I reported the situation immediately. Others had similar experiences. The room was clean and the cleaning staff friendly. Grounds and Beach: A beautiful white sand beach surrounded by well cared for surroundings. Restaurants: The buffet food was very good with many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cooking and serve staff very good and friendly. The Italian Restaurant served an amazing pasta dish as well as chicken. The Beach Restaurant was well stocked with a variety of hot and cold foods throughout the day. Entertainment: My wife and I enjoyed the nightly shows. My favorite was the magic show. Final Thought: Other than the initial check-in experience we had an enjoyable vacation. However, I fail to understand why the management are not more pro active in making sure the rooms are ready for occupancy prior to the arrival of the next guest. The toilet was a simple fix,

I was overall very happy with this resort. It was clean, the staff was amazing, and the grounds and beaches were beautiful. The food was good (especially the egg bar at breakfast and the lobster on lobster night). The only problems I experienced were with towels and the shower in my room: I was put in a handicapped room so the shower had no ledge, and the floor wasn't properly sloped to drain the water. I had to be very careful with where I pointed the shower head and one day I flooded my bathr [... read more]oom floor/part of my room a bit with water. Not a huge deal, I just called the front desk to deliver towels to sop it up, but unfortunately I had to wait over 4 hours for towels and had to request them multiple times. Another towel issue was beach towels: the clubhouse where you can exchange your beach towel for a fresh one opens at 9 every day, but every time I went there at 9, the staff had no fresh towels yet. I didn't want to compromise my beach time so I went down to the beach with my old towel anyway. When I went back in the afternoon they had already run out of fresh towels. This happened on multiple days.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Iberostar wins again!

Resort and location are beautiful.Well set up with restaurants, pools, beach and entertainment all close at hand. Never felt overcrowded. Food was delicious and music, entertainment was varied and very good. Some problem getting hot water in bathroom.

The Resort & grounds are ABSOLUTELY amazing!!! The staff are extremely friendly, more like Family. The Buffet food was extremely good, pleasantly surprised. Everybody had sooo much fun. We Snorkelled, sailed, walked along beaches, had time w/ Dolphins, Lobster lunch, danced & all the Alcohol or water you wanted. Both Tours are money well spent. Check in was a NIGHTMARE though - staff stressed out & not organized or friendly. Our maid Betty, was horrible, left "used" towels on floor & she hung them on the balcony & did not replace. Same with the Face Cloths - we were in a hurry to leave on a day trip & forgot to leave a tip!!! I feel it was done on purpose (I know they were our used towels, because I have a special hair dye that leaves residue on towels.)
