Valentin Perla Blanca: GREAT RESORT

My husband and I decided to choose this resort based on the location, value and the photos and we were not disappointed. The staff, including restaurant servers and bartenders were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a gardenview room and it was clean and the housekeeping staff cleaned it each day. While the food wasn't spectacular there was such a wide variety and large buffet that it didn't matter. Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Fourth time, and will definitely return!

This resort has become our favourite, and for many reasons! The rooms are well-equipped and spacious, the resort layout is perfect size (not too big), the beach is unbelievable, and the service is excellent. We were pleasantly surprised on the improvement of the food choices and quality this time around; tasty beef, bacon many mornings, grapefruit and pineapple available daily, along with smoked salmon. The service in the lobby was excellent - it seemed that there were double the number of servers walking around taking drink orders than in the past. All in all, a great vacation. Melia Las Dunas: Excellent resort!

Hotel was great, rooms are clean and well kept, grounds are beautiful, pool area is very clean, lobby bar is super fun (Romero is the best barman!). Great walking path criss-crosses over the entire resort area. The resort has both an adult side and a separate family side. The beach is long and immaculate, no water shoes required! I must also note the Buffet was excellent, great variety of everything including meat and vegetables (the pumpkin purée is amazing). The lunch restaurant at the family side pool was also excellent. I have to mention the quality of the food has greatly improved since my last trip to Cuba (Varadero 2010). The staff is friendly and courteous. I was part of a group of twenty three people (family and friends covering a mix of age groups) and everyone agrees they would not hesitate to return. I pesonally have not one complaint, and a good time was definitely had by all of us. Bonne vacances!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: It's getting better

From year to year there is some improvement.The resort looked more tidy, better organized, cleaner. Huge variety of food but unfortunately not much to our taste.As usual we ate some fish, fruits and veggies. No mosquitos but the beach bugs (flees) are big nuisance and very hard to detect - only after bites. Overall fair bang for the buck.

Valentin Perla Blanca: 2nd visit to this resort

Great resort, food has improved greatly since they first opened. Great pool and staff. Will go back again, very nice lobby bar. Only negative is the distance from airport and noisy housekeeping staff yelling all day outside rooms.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: A Good Trip

Playa is a great resort with a very large and plentiful buffet!! You will definitely not starve and be pleasantly happy with all the food choices/ staff members in the buffet area. Raul our Transat rep was absolutly amazing! do not miss the welcome meeting because he will actually give you some great tips and he's quite entertaining. Also, if you have ANY concerns at all? One day both women's washrooms with ALL 16 stalls were broken! And a giant tip for you ** pay attention** bring your own stash of toilet paper in your purse just in case. TRUST ME. I often found all the stalls without toilet paper, which was really frustrating. Make sure to book the Romantico A la Carte. It was so yummy! also, book your a la carte the day you arrive or the next day because they book up fast and all the early reservation times get taken. So, if you happen to get a 9pm reservation?? be careful. We had one and they didn't bother with us at all. No drink refills, no one checked on us. They were too busy cleaning up, which was very disappointing. We were told that in the wine room you could purchase samples of wines from around the world and have some nibbles, ie. cheese, meats. When we went in the woman at the counter literally totally ignored us and played on her phone. I kept looking at my husband to see if this was for real? When I asked her if she had samples for sale? she said No, nibbles? she said NO. I bought a bottle of wine and left. I was really looking forward to that feature of the hotel to be honest. The Lobby staff is great and they have live music in the morning and in the evening. IT's a great place to hang out and play cards while having a cocktail or cappuccino. The rooms are very clean and well set up. We were in building 3 which was close to pools, buffet, beach and snack bar. The beaches here are absolutly amazing too. Turquoise water and white sands.

The resort was huge, absolutely beautiful. The staff were so kind, and such a blast to be around. The food was fine, there is definitely something for everyone at the Buffett- just bring along your own sauces and spices if that is a must for you. The a la carte dinner's were amazing- definitely take advantage of all 3 that are included in your week! Be sure to explore both pool side areas, and both snack bars. Memories Paraiso: Great resort

Evrything was good food need a bit of variety since if you go for 2 weeks you need different the rest is perfect the staff is amazing fishing wow wow wow a bit expensive but in my case was worth every penny

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: no complaints

it was a beautiful resort with nice pools and beach area, great service/staff, good entertainment, decent food, lunch buffet was awesome shower head in room was a bit broken but still worked, room cleaned and fridge restocked daily

Melia Las Dunas: Would definitely go back!!

Grounds was always clean. Meals were excellent for Cuban resorts. Entertainment was off the chains and inclusive. We got a beach front suite. Great way to wake up everyday. Would be nice to get fresh towels every 2 days. While we were there, laundry facility broke down that some guests resorted to stealing beach towels off chairs. Overall, it was really relaxing and service was always on point. Keep up the good work.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing resort.

The best resort I have ever stayed in. It was a small intimate adults only resort, They cater to your every need. Beautiful grounds and loved the very friendly staff. Every one will go out of their way to make your stay memorable. I will defintely be back.

Melia Las Dunas: 2 Thumbs up !

The a la carte restuarants were very good... especially our last night at the Italian and my exceptional birthday treatment at the Romantique. Looked forward to our specially prepared omelettes and fresh fruit every morning. I thought the Cuban staff was fabulous..... especially the water sports staff and JR and Henry that cleaned the beach early each morning. Jose on the Hobie Cat was AWESOME !.....and a pretty good singer too!...hahahaa

First time in Cuba it is a nice resort beautiful beach but a 90 minute drive from airport. Food is very repetitive and cold coffee was awful. Some staff very friendly others not so much. Won't be going back to Cuba I like Punta Cana Grand Palladium much better

I found this hotel and grounds to be the best I have seen in after 7 weeks In Cuban resorts since 2013.The beach and swimming are the best. Powdery sand, Azure blue water, stunning location. Food was really Good for Cuba, with a great selection of fresh seafood,fountain of fresh orange juice in the grill was. Never empty and the bread was fresh baked on site. Sol Cayo Santa Maria: The resort is beautiful

The resort is beautiful the grounds are well cared for the food is excellent the servers could have some English lessons The maintenance people are the only problem there they don't fix anything that needs to be fixed The beach is beautiful I was very impressed with this resort I will come again and I will recommend it to all my friends

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Incredible massage therapy

Gorgeous beaches and the best resort pool yet. Staff were very courteous and friendly. Massage therapy with Osdany was amazing . Entertainment was top notch. Our room was kept very clean and there was no shortage of bottled water.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Worst resort we have ever visited

We have travelled to Cuba many times and love it. This resort really changed our view. The welcome was probably the best thing from our entire stay. To start, this is an all inclusive resort, but your room fridge only comes with a bottle of water. If you want it stocked with anything else, you have to pay. Mold is common in warm countries, but our room curtains need replacement. Beds were nicely made with characters but our linens were never changed our entire stay. Our towels were not exchange [... read more]d unless we soaked them wet with the water that spilled onto the floor from the shower. The shower when warm- we had no hot water for 3 days- the tap fell off when we started our shower. We did find cockroaches. Pool towels was hit and miss. Some days you could get fresh ones, other days you couldn't. The pool: Was pretty and freezing. You don't need to apply sunscreen. When you dive into the pool you are covered by sunscreen. There was plenty of it in the pool. Was cleaned around the pool. Someone constantly picking up garbage. No one walking around to give you drinks. Pool chairs full of mold. Food. Lots of it. Chicken was good. Omelettes were good, but 7 days of the same food every day, all day!! Be careful eating fish - bones are in! Service. Ha! What service?? They are so disorganized! No one seated you. When you did find a table, good luck getting it cleared and someone staying long enough to get you a cup of anything! I asked 3 people for a cup of coffee and never got it. We waited 20 min before I complained to management who did nothing about it! If you are a large group, don't attempt putting tables together. We got yelled at that we couldn't do that!! Rude staff and no one who cared to serve you. For my husbands birthday we requested a piece of cake. Told they would gather staff and being something out and sing to him. We waited for over half an hour. When I questioned someone they went to the kirchen who told them they didn't know anything about it (we arranged it when we arrived in the dining room half hour prior) and would send something out. We got a cake. No singing, no candle, not even a happy birthday from the person dropping it off. Beach was clean but not fully. The walkway to the beach had broken side rails. Lots of bugs. So bring lots of bug spray. Overall this resort was rated a 4. Even in Cuban stars I wouldn't rate it a 4. More like a 2.5-3 Cuban stars. Disappointed that this cost us as much as it did.

Memories Paraiso: Wonderful Island

We went at a busy time of the year. Too many families with small crying children. Should place families in Azul side and older travelling couples on the Pariso side. Keep buffets separate so families can be in one buffet and couples in the other. Royalton should get their own buffet to relieve the pressure off the Memories' buffets. There were long line ups and staff could not keep up with the food. There was a large amount of food wasted. Huge plate full of food went to garbage while others wen [... read more]t without as trays were empty. Maybe there should be staff dishing up certain foods to avoid wasting so much (people can always go for seconds!!). French fries were a big hit and sometimes people overloaded their plates so no one else could have them there was a long wait before anymore would come out on to the buffet. Most children ate only fries which is fine but make the supply meet the demand. The Grill restaurant on the Azul side was closed because the Azul side was not full but lots of days it could have been opened to relieve the pressure on the rest of the resort. Travellers should also be reminded to bring adapter for 220 as that is what the island uses. We have been to this resort before and noticed the wear and tear in a couple of years. The extras like conditioner and slippers, housecoats are no longer there in the rooms. We had a supper maid for our room and he did his best to make sure we had everything we needed - good job Humberto.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Saw some very unsavory sanitary conditions

Very understaffed, staff was very nice. Saw a higher up kitchen spervisor(with the walkie talkie on their back) pick up broccoli from the floor and place in between serving tongs on the tong holding plate. Same tongs used to handle cooked and raw chicken at the Grill during lunch another day. Most Toilets in lobby were out of order for our 4 day stay.
