Starfish Jibacoa: To return or not return.... that is the question

This is our second visit to Villas Tropico and possibly our last. While there are so many good things to this resort there are a couple things that can’t be overlooked. While not the resorts fault, there were more days of red flags on the beach meaning we could not go into the water due to high winds and Portuguese man of wars. This was a definite bummer. Our room was lovely and most of the staff delightful. We made some wonderful new friends and got to connect with some old ones.

Playa Caleta: Very Relaxing

First of all Vicki was Great with booking our Trip. The Hotel was excellent. Clean and well kept. A pleasure to venture anywhere on the grounds, the restaurants and bar areas. Great Coffee and snacks always available. The Beach tho was outstanding! Incredible surf, sun and fun. Always a ride downtown to the flee market and food. Staff got me everything I asked for. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Highly diappointed!

The only things nice about this resort were the grounds and the beach! The accommodations were not a five star and the service was inadequate. The food was cold and not in abundance. There was no entertainment except for the same dancers singing different songs in different outfits. No one ever in the night club and not a very accommodating staff!

Palma Real: Very low quality

I went for my birthday, it was not what I expected. I had never been to Cuba so I was told that the standards are a little lower than North America, but this was way worse than I had expected. It was pretty much the cheapest thing that we could find, so I think in retrospect, spending a few couple hundred dollars more to be in better comfort would have made a lot more sense. The people were very nice, the workers were always very kind and always happy to help.

Melia Marina Varadero: Fare

No internet in room looks like you are disconnected from world if I knew there is no internet connection I never diside to go Cuba.In Varadero I went terminal to go Havana couldn’t use it because there was so dirty and unusable. Foods in Hotel not tasty.

Hotel Los Cactus: No bad, but could be better

-Friendly staff and educated -The installations of the Hotel are: needs renovations, air conditioner lids very old and dirty. Missing lights at night in gardens path, could be occurr an accident specially seniors. -Wasrooms: curtins, fawcett, sink in bad conditions. - looks like everybody are afraid of pool water quality, no many people inside pool. -Safe place, supervising safety personal walking in every moment. -Good idea to change hamburgers as snaps. -Good amusement at nights: prof [... read more]essionals dancers. Memories Jibacoa: Wonderful vacation!

Felt like we were part of the resort’s family.... staff is so friendly, accommodating and attentive. Great location to maximize options for day trips. Food options much better than other resorts we have been to in Cuba! Special mention to Sunwing’s Rep-Marina Rodrigues, a special soul❤️A Real relaxing vacation

Melia Las Antillas: Decent Resort

The resort was as I expected. Many of the servers at the bars, restaurants and cleaning were very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff could have been more helpful when asked questions about the resort and and areas around the resort. The resort itself was clean and well maintained, and I appreciated the short distance from the rooms to the beach. The food made on grills were good, but other foods were bland but manageable.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Conflicted Review but Honest

The design of this Hotel is both beautiful and confusingly silly. There is only one bar by the pool that sadly has only a few seats and tables but more designed for swim up purposes rather than two bars for a building this size (1 for swim up and one with an awning allowing chairs and tables below like most hotels). Surprisingly, the rooms have a bathroom with a large window allowing natural light into the bathroom but also completely negates any privacy what so ever. Not a place to go with a [... read more] friend and share a room! The buffet area requires a line to form for freshly made chicken, seafood, omlets and beef. Sadly, the line can only be up to 5 people long before there was over-congestion. This isn't in any way wise when the hotel is even at half capacity and a lunch/dinner rush approaches. the beach is not as "superb" as that of the areas closer to the city. This isn't a bad thing but another detail I personally see as a big selling feature for the higher cost over places such as Be Live Experience down the street. The staff made up for many of the pitfalls of the hotel and this is truly the reason I go to Cuba so often. the people and their genuine personalities. Although some were young and still learning their positions, they did a great job (besides the quarterbacks at the front desk who repeatedly dropped the ball when you report an issue with your room like a toilet not flushing. Expect it to be repaired within a few hours rather than within the hour as I experienced twice and gave up). Pillows smelled of mold. Replacement pillows were not any better. If you love cold showers, this is your dream hotel! With the location being filled as it was in mid-Feb 2019, warm water was available three of the seven days I was there. This was probably the straw that broke the back of my intention of returning to this location. On a big plus... the food was absolutely divine! The saying goes "You don't gop to cuba for the food" and this hotel shattered that quote completely. The dessert table was some of the best I have ever tasted in my life and tip my hat to the staff for that.

Paradisus Varadero: Resort with an awesome pool

-Nice grounds -Beautiful beach -Nicely landscaped -Fabulous pool with multiple depths. -Management staff did not have enough staff to staff the buffet however some of the staff provided excellent service. -Rooms were fine and well cleaned. They should designate a quiet area on the beach. The food was disappointing for a four and a half star resort it seemed to be more the type of food for a three and a half star resort however the snack bar was excellent.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Would not recommend

Very run down and under a lot of renovations, some people had no hydro no hot water for days , made the best of our stay but would not return , worst resort I have ever stayed at in Cuba , could go on and on but just don’t go there !

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing resort

Can't wait to go back ...amaxing place great staff....enjoyed the water the location and all the exciting things to do.my boyfriend and I had an awesome time ...wish the Wi-Fi was a bit better ...over all beautiful place to go

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Amazing Resort

My husband and I chose Ocean Varadero El Patriarca as our honeymoon spot and I'm glad we did. The resort was beautiful, the rooms were very modern and clean, the staff was all wonderdul and the food was actually quite good. I highly recommend this resort, I'm already looking to book again.

Roc Barlovento: Great location!

the hotel is dated but is clean and tidy. the beach is amazing and the resort had a couple of lifeguards on duty at all times. security personnel could be clearly seen all over resort property. the food was okay. nothing to write home about...but nothing to complain about either. Be prepared to be surrounded by cigarette smoke wherever you go (prohibited in dining room and buses only)

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great vacation

This was our third vacation at this resort and it was great. As usual the staff was excellent, always smiling and their willingness to help is exceptional. The resort is well maintained and nice. The beaches are beautiful, the weather great as always and beats this rough winter we are having. The food has never been a problem for us in Cuba, the food is good, it is different from what we are used to eating, but that is expected and welcomed. The difference we noticed this time is that the Sanctuary part of Grand Memories, seems to have lost a little of its exclusivity, the reason we went back a third time. Not a deal breaker but something we will keep in mind for future booking. Overall a great vacation.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Nice resort in Cuba

Nicely landscaped grounds and pool. The beach is absolutely breathtaking and has a quick drop off for swimming. The lounge chairs need replacing and you can only have one towel at a time, so I’d recommend bring a light chair pad and a towel.

noliDUO Havana Varadero: Nice for the Price

We just returned February 14. For the price this resort was good and what we expected. The food however was below expectation. The buffet did not change at all while we there. The selections while numerous lacked flavour. I have travelled to Cuba 7 times and the food was the worst I have had. With that said the service, cleanliness, location were excellent. If you can handle the food being bland for the great price I would say go for it.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Great Resort

I truly enjoyed this resort, my previous experience with Cuba has been bad food and screaming kids...not this resort, food was better than good and adults only...when I go back to Cuba it will be this resort....

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great Beach

Although the hotel is older and needs an update, especially in the lobby, the staff was great and the beach was idealistic! We had a fantastic time and made some wonderful memories. We would recommend to anyone looking for a stress free vacation.

Hotel Los Cactus: Good resort!

This is my first visit to Cuba. At first, settled into a room with a block C, next to the construction site, was noisy during the day and then the next day changed the number closer to the reception, was good.The large room has all the necessary air conditioning low noise. The food in the buffet was good and quite diverse. But I didn’t really like the Ala carte restaurant "El Mojito" and "International". The beach is nice and fairly clean near the beach bar, where it was always possible to [... read more] eat but it was not necessary. All week the weather was fine only the penultimate day of rain. A summer week at the end of winter is a good idea!
