Overall a very clean resort. Personally did not like the buffet food, and beaches were very rocky, but staff was great and still had a great time...
FOOD & STAFF
Staff was amazing, (Victor, Rusbel, Enrique & Maria) as well as front desk staff and ALL bartenders were a pleasure to chat with daily. Sunny Side & El Patio were the best restaurants. We did not try the Italian one since I eat italian food way too much, but overall, food was delicious and many options from the two listed above. Not[... read more] a fan of the buffet for any meal, just found the options were minimal and picked over.
ROOM:
Stayed in 2031, 3rd floor - Room was cleaned and restocked with non-alcohol beverages daily. Only complaints - one mirror that was in the bathroom which would steam up when showering so bring an extra to do your makeup! Bed was a little on the firm side, so be prepared for some stiffness in the morning. Other than that. The AC worked WONDERS! Better than the one I have back home and the ceiling fan was super quiet. Tiny ant like bugs in the washroom on occasion but barely any. Doors are not insulated very well so you can easily hear conversations of the loud drunks walking by at 2am, but not horrible enough to pay for the upgrade to the “adult pool sideâ€
POOL & BEACH:
Pools were fairly clean, but overall hard to keep super clean since we had a bit of rain when we went and it was windy. Cool temperatures kept me out of the pool but the activities seemed to bring everyone in to play. The beach was cleaned daily with lots of seating and hammock options, though the waters are ROCKY! Be prepared to walk very slowly or just sit on the edge like i did. Waters were like bath water. Staff would come take drink orders right from the beach too.
NOTES:
We went dec 17-24 in room 2031
- it is windy and cool at night! Bring a jacket since many restaurants sit outside and entertainment shows are all done by the pool at night (i was freezing!)
- rainy days will also call for a jacket as temperatures cool
- for a beach that you can actually swim at, rent a scooter (right outside the resort) for $40USD for 24h and go to a spot named “miami beach†(the next beach and bar past the well known rasta beach bar)
- bring a mini speaker for the room or beach to listen to your own music, there’s no speaker included in the room
- don’t pay for wifi, head to the lobby for free connection and do what you need to, paid wifi apparently had a bad connection said people we met there
- this is a small resort so set days for excursions like playa del carmen or downtown cozumel
- this is a resort for families (mainly younger kids) or couples, if you are single looking for a party spot, this is not the place
Overall we had a great time and would recommend it for a relaxing and lay low trip, we loved everything we ate at Sunny Side and El Patio and LOVED seeing Victor & Rusbel from sunny side and Enrique, and Maria from el patio daily. Thank you Sunscape Staff for a great time in Cozumel :)

Sunscape Splash: Sunscape Splash Montigo Bay
My husband and l had a fantastic time at this resort and the staff were wonderful. It was the first time being able to swim in the sea as the water was calm and perfect for young and old alike. Friendly Jamaica......I'd go back in a flash!

Sunscape Splash: Great week at Sunplash
I have never been to Jamaica and booked at the Sunscape Splash. From booking the West Jet Vacation via Trip Central to departure, everything was perfect. I am a single person, traveling on my own and found many other travelers to share my week with. The resort is super clean, the staff are exceptional; friendly - everyone was so welcoming! The snorkeling was wonderful (you do have to keep an eye out for the jelly fish).
Food, especially the Jerk Chicken cart was plentiful. Beach is clean a[... read more]nd plenty of loungers.
I thoroughly enjoyed my week.
I did an excursion to Dunn's River Falls - was a bit rush and spent alot of time on the bus getting there - however; had a blast at the falls!
The only thing that I missed was having live music in the lounge - many places I have traveled provide nightly entertainment in the lounge; I found I missed this. There were shows in the theatre area - I went twice to see the entertainment. There an inside disco, however being in Jamaica I wanted to be outside in the fresh air.
Direct flight from Ottawa and 20 minutes at most to airport!
Again, a great week, Hats off to the Staff of the Sunscape
Stayed in the Cove side, which was quiet, but had access to all of Splash which had more children, and was higher energy. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, epitomizing the phrase 'Jamaica, no problem'. Food was quite good on both sides, definitely ask for the specials of the day in the sit down lunch and dinners as these are usually more traditional Jamaica (only thing we missed on site were 'patties') We used the watersports area, for me, an almost non swimmer, booking Kelly's priva[... read more]tely ($80 US for the two of us) was worth it as we had a guide specifically for us to snorkel on the reef which is just off the resort. Just a heads up and depending on your point of view avoid or embrace the Amstar Ultimate vacation program, they will offer you breakfast and a tour of Secret Orchid understanding that this is a sales pitch for you to join (it is not a good fit for us, but others have spoken well of the program). We will definitely be looking to go back!

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Mediocre at best!
The hotel itself was clean. It could use some updating but this is to be expected for the age of the resort. The grounds were well kept. The beach area was gorgeous. The snorkeling was amazing...just like being in an aquarium. And now the ugly...the staff were miserable, except for LaToya at the Sugar Reef bar. She was always smiling and went out of her way to serve us. However every other employee made us feel like we were an inconvenience to them. The food was not impressive at all. We wouldn'[... read more]t recommend this resort, and would not return ourselves.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Such a Great Vacation!
Everything you need is there. Most especially the location is fantastic being so close to the Aquarium, Mambo Beach, and Willemstad. The snorkeling on site was also really enjoyable. I even saw a lion fish!

Sunscape Splash: Relaxing Holiday
Sunscape Splash offers lots to do ! great for families... always something to do!
Very clean rooms, and the ocean view was perfect! Easy to get around.
a la carte restaurants were very good, buffet was repetitive, but why complain when I still didn’t have to cook!
Don’t expect a long walking beach but it’s excellent for Snorkeling and the area is popular for sailing, kayaking etc.
I feel it’s Very good value for your $.
Close to the airport for those who hate long travel times

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Loved this resort!
First time in Puerto Plata and truly enjoyed our stay. Stayed the week of Nov 19-26/18, in Building 9. Basic room but the shower was fabulous. No charge for the safe or the internet. Internet was sometimes accessible in the room but no problem in the lobby area. The layout of the resort was perfect. It looks bigger on the website but everything is actually close together. A short walk to the beach. Beach bar conveniently located. Washroom was continuously cleaned. This is a very clean and well [... read more]maintained resort. The grounds were beautiful. No reservation required for the à la carte restaurants. Just registered at the entrance to each and they gave us a coaster style pager. We only had about a 20 minute wait. There was a seating area around the bar area with tables and chairs so you could have a drink or food while waiting. The pizza oven is at this location. Two of the bar/eating areas were up stairs so could be an issue for people with mobility issues. Not sure if there was elevator access or not. You could also see the entertainment as the stage was just below, so if you didn't want to be in the crowd you could watch from above. We ate breakfast at Windows buffet each morning. Good selection of food. The Omelettes great. The cappuccino at the Coffee Bar was fabulous. There were no Palapa structures on the beach, but there were Mangrove trees that provided natural shelter from the direct sun. No problem getting a lounge chair. The water was warm and clear. It was a little murky on our last day due to the waves. All in all, it was a fabulous vacation. Having been to all inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Cuba, Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, and Antigua over the past 15 years, this one is up there in the ratings for me. The only real negative thing was the beach vendors. So many of them but with a polite 'No thank you', they moved on. It was hard work in the heat and long days for them. Better deals there than in the shops and they expect you to barter. The very friendly staff on the resort are hard working people. Although it is an all inclusive, a few dollars tipping here and there goes a long way for them and is greatly appreciated.

Sunscape Splash: Good resort!
The hotel was good. The room was clean, comfortable beds and pillows. The food was good, buffet can get a bit repetitive but no complaints. The a la cartes were mediocre, the sea side grill for supper was my favorite. Drinks were very good. Beach was great but our last few days there were jelly fish so we didnt swim in the ocean. We are repeat customers and noticed a few things not as good as previous visits. All in all it was a good vacation

Sunscape Puerto Plata: This was a superb place .
This is our second time with the grand kids and we were received with a welcome banner on our door a bottle of rum and some fruits . I thought the touch was so warm that they recognized our stay there. The food is fantastic and the servants are always smiling and there to help with anything. Not like other resort if you are missing something in the room they do it right away, so you don t have to ask again. We will go again because it is close to town and everythingelse you want to do.Fred and M[... read more]arlene I recommend it for adults or family.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Great Resort
Clean rooms, comfy bed and very polite staff. Ground immaculately kept. Buffet restaurants excellent. However, the a la carte restaurants were randomly closed and even though you got a sheet in the morning stating which ones were open, that was not the case. Service in the French restaurant was pitiful - we walked out before dessert because we had already been there for almost 2 hours.
On various nights, there were local vendors with tables set up throughout the resort. There should ha[... read more]ve been a centralized area with these vendors so that if you wanted to look at their souvenirs you could. They would accost you every time you walked by one of them.
Beach was very short and had a lot of erosion. One half could not be accessed from your chair because it was sand bagged and had huge rocks.
Even though it there was a programmable thermostat in the room, it didn’t appear that we had any control. It said it could be set to 16 but got no where close.
The resort itself was beautiful but we wouldn’t recommend it because of the lack of a decent beach and random closure of the a la carte restaurants.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: I loved this resort!!
The resort was fabulous!! It was not a larger scale resort and therefore walking to all areas was done in just a few minutes. The main pool was quite large and hosted a swim up bar and snack bar which was very convenient. The a la Cartes were available every night and you did not need a reservation which I really liked. Just outside the area of the restaurants is a bar and pizzeria- the pizza is made to order and was delicious- if you like pizza, you’ll have to check this out. The food was te[... read more]rrific and the service was top notch, especially in the a la carte restaurants. The beach was about a 5 minute walk from our building and while there were no umbrellas for the chairs on the beach, there were lots of trees to relax under and enjoy the ocean breeze. The resort was very clean and well maintained. And, I felt very safe in the area. Other areas where I vacationed had armed guards at the gates and you were told not to leave the resort. This resort did not have armed guards and you could walk to the mini mall (mostly souvenir type shops) without any worries. I would definitely recommend this resort and I am looking forward to going back at some time in the future.

Sunscape Cove: bad management
I was in sunscape cove from Oct.20-25. I was there for my cousin's wedding. The resort itself is in need of updating, upgrading it looks very run down. The room where I stayed had been renovated but you really couldn't tell aside from the walk in shower , which I have to say was very nice, and the modern sink there was nothing that made it feel new. The air condition was very noisy when on and made it difficult to sleep. Also there was noise of water running all the time which I couldn't figure [... read more]out what it was.The resort when new must of been really nice but now it is calling out for help. The resort was also not very full , low season I guess for them . The buffet looked empty at all meals. It was so big but not enough people eating to fill it up, which I completely understand.I do not like to see food being wasted. The food it self was very good. I ate mostly at the restaurants on the cove side and they were really good. The beach was beautiful and the view of the mountains was amazing. The worst thing about this resort was the management, they refuse to accommodate the guest with any requests. They were also rude, unfriendly, unprofessional and unwilling to resolve situations. And this attitude also reflects on all the employees who not all but most have the same attitude.
Overall Jamaica for me never again, they take advantage of tourist, no one knows anything or wants to help in any way. It is in my opinion expensive and not well maintained, dangerous and Jamaicans are unfriendly, compared to all other islands.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Not a 4 star resort barely a 3
This resort needs a lot of work to be granted a 4star rating.
Food is very reptious and boring.
Every once in a while there was things very good but never saw them again over 10 days
Restaurant staff do not seem to be happy and never smile.
Too many nights waiting 2 hours to receive your meal which was always cold.
Beach was great but pools full of noisy kids.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Good but not great
This is not a 4 star resort but enjoyed our vacation.
Check in was fast and easy and our luggage was taken promptly to our room. The room was in The Tower and was large and newly renovated.Down side was the thermostat was broken with no replacement available. We kept the patio door open most of the time to heat the room up.
The fridge was not working but fixed promptly. The tub drain would not close but really not a problem for me.Learning how to use the shower was an interesting time.Housek[... read more]eeping on a couple of days came after 5 on a couple of days so just asked for extra towels.
Was disappointed there wasn’t an adult pool but spent all our time at the beach anyway. The water is so clear you don’t need to snorkel to see the fish.Never had a problem getting beach towels or a spot in the shade.
Very few people towel reserved chairs.
The food was “resort foodâ€but could always find something to eat at the buffet.
Did not like the lunch at the beach but in the evening the food was much better.
I had steak and ribs and both were very good.Service is always touch and go.
The Japanese restaurant was very good.
The Italian was a disappointment the first time we tried it.Over 21/2 hours to serve dinner but the second time was better.
I was disappointed in the lobby bar.Just a couple of tables with plastic chairs but assume most sit around the pool after dinner.
It is a small resort with everything around the pool area.
The bar tenders were all friendly and efficient and the servers could take lessons from them.
The entertainment was hit and miss ,The carnival night and fire show were good.
If you just want to experience the island it is a good resort. If you are looking for a true 4 star this is not for you.
