Great Place!!

Our hotel was better than expected! It was very clean- and grounds kept tidy and neat. We enjoyed our stay, we Bought the premium package and we’re very happy we did. The regular beach area was very busy but on the upgraded side was amazing! We had awesome service on the beach- Amamble tended to our needs at the beach - very nice, professional and friendly to us and 2 teens. The premium lounge gave us a nice air conditioned area to have drinks (premium liquor) and the service there was great a [... read more]s well.. Jose and Eunice always greeted us with a smile and went over and beyond to make our stay great. The buffet was good but we’re glad to have the a la carte restaurants for our dinners. Our favourites were the Italian and Caribbean. All in all we would return to this resort - it wasn’t too small but definitely not too big- everything was only a few min walk anywhere.

Enjoyable vacation

Great resort, food was very good. 3 restaurants that we ate dinner every night. Staff were very friendly. Entertainment was fair. Would recommend. Don’t book horse back riding off anyone on the beach. Book only with ur hotel. They are scammers in the beach., Enjoy your stay!!

Once Again another Amaizing vacation!

Another amazing trip this was my 8th visit to the resort and many more to come . It was relaxing and enjoyable The family atmosphere once we arrived was heartfelt and welcoming .We had great food , interactive entertainment and relaxation The staff go above and beyond to make our stay memorable A great place to stay

Great Resort

We throughly enjoyed this resort and would return. Very clean and the staff was very friendly. The food was great and plenty of it.We did find the nightly entertainment was a little boring with it starting with a kids session each night and sometimes there is only one or two kids but they go through the same music each night. We were in the smaller complex with our own pool and bar but if you didn't walk over to the gym in the main area you would not know what the daytime entertainment was.

Overall, ok.

It's nice that the resort is small enough that everything is in the centre and easily accessible. Only problem with this though is that non-smokers get nauseated by all the smoking in this central area. Even though the theatre is supposed to be non-smoking, the seats on the exterior are all smoking and the comfort level in the theatre is compromised. The same happens around the pool area. The entertainment staff [... read more] was excellent and they worked hard to deliver entertainment programs throughout the day. The nightly shows were good too. We especially enjoyed the Aquatics Pool show. The rest of the staff was also friendly and accommodating. The three biggest complaints were the following: 1. This is the first hotel/resort ever that we had to pay for the safe. The keyhole is empty and you have to go to reception to "buy" the lock mechanism. This is ridiculous! Just a money-grabbing ploy. Not impressed with this at all. 2. The cleanliness of the rooms left a bit to be desired. While the room was tidied, it never felt clean. The surfaces were sticky, the light switches and door knobs were disgusting. The bathroom mirror was dirty from the previous guests. We arrived on Monday, and the mirror was finally cleaned on Thursday. The sink was wiped down but the faucets were never shiny enough to look clean. With the high turnover of guests at these resorts, more emphasis should be placed on sanitizing on a daily basis. We did like, however, that there was a person stationed at the entrance of the main buffet area with hand sanitizer. 3. The chairs in both the pool area and the theatre were very uncomfortable. We had sore backs by the end of the week.

2 weeks in Paradise

I recently returned home from the VH Gran Ventana resort. I was one of a group of 22, ranging in age from 13 to 90, who went to celebrate our mothers 90th birthday. We were made feel right at home from check in to departure. The resort is small, compared to other resorts I've visited, but huge in atmosphere, friendliness, and as close to perfection that I can imagine. The resort is very clean, beach is excellent and the food is remarkable. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Special thanks go to Johaira and Coco Loco at the buffet and Solomon at the beach grill. Even the vendors on beach were very friendly and not pushy at all. Most of the family are planning on returning in future. My mother announced on our last night there that she'd like to have everyone go back for her 92nd birthday!! I have a feeling that a few of us will be returning sooner:)

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort, nice resort.

Attractive Hotel, nice pool , very nice beach and swimming area. Beach vendors are not pushy but a bit tiring. Food mixed: Meat and fish very good, as were the vegetables. Plenty of variety for Lunch and evening meals. In Fruit there was little choice only a few varieties. Fruit Juice too sweet and sticky. Morning: cereals OK but little choice and the porage was way too thin. Entertainment strictly for youth.

Amazing Resort

The resort was small but exceptionally clean. The staff were amazingly friendly & helpful, making sure everything was perfect for us. The beach was great! There was a large group of us celebrating our Mom`s 90th Birthday and nobody had any complaints. All are saying they plan to return to this resort in the future. Third trip to VH Gran Ventana

Third time back and not disappointed, plan to return. We enjoy the resort size, personable staff, always meet many friendly people, pool and beach in close proximity, safe, clean, food good. Not real upscale, very comfortable and relaxing.

Not impressed

food was very basic, entertainment basic, activities not much. Bar opened at 10. The snack at the beach opened at 12:00, no drinks available after the cafeteria till 10am and if you were thirsty too bad. One day I had acid in my stomach usually a piece of bread helps me, but no food available till 12:00. You could not get your drinks such as juices or soft drinks on your own you had to go to the bar only so if before 10am too bad.

VH Gran Ventana - Still a nice relaxing Resort

Grounds are nicely manicured, food very good, a great place to relax in the sunshine. Our stay was very good, however they forgot we were returning guests and did not give us the "welcome package" a bit disappointing. Awesome vacation

This is a small but beautiful resort. We were there for a week to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday and were pleasantly surprised to find that most of the resort was on one level which is great for anyone with mobility issues. Great staff !

Hotel was very clean and the staff are amazing. I have Celiac desease and have struck food allergies and was sick at every al la cart we went to but did fine in the buffet if I stuck to the grilled meat and salad. There was a huge selection of food for my family however. The staff treat you like family and are always smiling. Beach is nice. Overall a great 9 day vacation for me and 21 other family members who were celebrating our mothers 90th b-day. Thank you!

Gran Ventana, Puerto Platt

We were very pleased with this hotel.Unfortunately it rained for the first two days. The selection of cold cuts and cheese at lunchtime was poor, sliced processed cheese. Otherwise everything was excellent.

SECOND TO NONE!

We stayed at the VH Gran Ventana the week of Nov. 21 to 28th. Everything about this hotel was more than we expected. The service was second to none. All the employees were very friendly and their service was fabulous. We requested a room on the main floor due to accessibility issues and got the best room ever!. The food at the buffet and the ala cartes was 5 star. The only thing we would have liked was a coffee pot in the room and the wifi wasn't the best, however, everything else far out [... read more]weighed these issues. We look forward to returning in the spring.

Will return!

Staff, management, food and service are all top notch. Rooms are basic, spacious and kept clean but are in need of some maintenance/renovations. Room safe is not inclusive unless you upgrade to premium or royal which I did not. Most of the public space is open-air therefore not air conditioned. There were ceiling fans but oftentimes they were not running or on low speed. I believe two of the three a-la-cartes are air-conditioned. The Vintage Club lounge is air-conditioned but only accessib [... read more]le to premium and royal guests. Layout of the resort is very convenient with a 24-hour coffee/tea station in centre court. Evening entertainment needs improvement in my opinion. There was only one evening with live music with the exception of a sax player who made a brief appearance on two evenings. For the most part, the resort was occupied by couples and families. Beach is beautiful but be prepared for the vendors as they approach everyone. They are friendly, not overly assertive but they don't give up! No thank you or no gracias works but they always come back. The staff and service are the best I've experienced to date and I would return.

Nice resort

An understated resort. Cozy and comfortable with all the amenities one requires. This was a return visit and we're sure to return again. My only reccommendation would be signage notifying guests about cash payments required for extras. Safe lock, internet etc. All in all another wonderful stay.

Exceeded My Expectations.

Here's my perspective the rooms were average but served the purpose, a shower and a bed. The housekeeping was thorough and when my AC thermostat broke a replacement was installed in 20min. Good food, nice grounds but a limited drink variety compared to other places I stayed.

Best resort ever

This Resort is at the top of my list 4 best resort ever it's close to everything it's clean has pools you're right on the ocean the rooms are lovely the food is great the people are great I would vote this one of the top resorts in Puerto Plata Dominican Republic

Great resort for the value

Second time here , it’s clean ,has friendly staff,good food ,nice beach .its not a five star by any means but it’s an affordable nice casual little resort . We have decided that we will book in here once a year for a little getaway.
