Did not live up to the Iberostar experience

I have stayed at Iberostar properties before and so expected the "Iberostar" experience. This property did not live up to expectations. The people (staff) were nice and entertainment was amazing but that was it. We always had an issue with water pressure in the shower and tub and food was an issue - no maple syrup for about 3 days, stale food at overnight snack bar, and little to variety of food - same offerings at lunch and dinner.

Amazing Place, Amazing Cubans

We stayed at the Grand Villa room at Iberostar early June and it was fantastic. We were at the Royal Hideaway in 2010/11 prior to Iberostar taking over. Remember, you come to Cuba for the beach, beautiful people, relaxation and remarkable gift of nature. Iberostar and Royalton are the best hotels in Santa Maria. We will be back again in the fall.

Kick your shoes off !

I have traveled all over the Caribbean and this hotel is one of the best over all i have ever been to. It was kept so clean i could eat off the floor ! The bathrooms were fresh and clean. The staff was wonderful and very help full. The food was full of flavor.

Beautiful Experience

This was like a honeymoon experience for us. We stayed in the Villas, with valet service. Excellent service. The hotel is a bit back from the beach, but the beach is beautiful once you get there. Grounds were well kept. Food was very good at Villas (had lobster every day), however we did venture to the buffet at the main building a couple of times and we thought it was very good by Cuba standards. Takes some time to get to and from airport, but was worth the time given the value we received.

Awesone family place

We loved how friendly the staff were and how involved everyone was with the guests. The rooms were clean and we always had hot water and cool air. My family had more then enough selections of food to choose from at the buffet. We would gladly reccomend it to our friends and family.

Great time

The staff were excellent. Food was good. And the beach was great. Although food at the beach cafe was just ok. We had to change rooms because our first one smelled a bit musty. Staff handled it very well.

Great resort

Really great resort. Rooms really nice and private. We stayed on the "childrens" side to be closer to the beach. No problems at all. The beaches very clean,waves a few times then dead quiet for the rest of the week. Really nice for long walks. Lobster on the buffet twice! Boiled first then grilled(very large) Always many choices with no problems finding something we liked. Surf and turf twice at the seafood restaurant..excellent! Lots of walking..by choice. Very large resort with well maintained [... read more] walkways and carts available if you don't like to walk. We are planning to return.

What's not to like?

A little piece of heaven at the end of a long ride. ( about 90 bus ride from airport). We were welcomed with a glass of champaign and recognized our repeat visit. Reception was fast and friendly. Golf cart took us to our clean and ready room. Each day buffet had plenty of choices. Beach is outstanding. Pools clean. Staff every where were friendly. Gardens were luscious. We enjoyed daily catamaran sailings. People who don't snorkel can walk out into the water and see fish. Long sandy beach is one [... read more] of the best in Cuba. We liked that there was a child friendly pool and separate adult pool. We plan to return in February.
