Great Hotel

Overall Hotel was great. Amazing food, service, and rooms. The grounds were immaculate and there were always friendly staff cleaning public areas. The only negative areas are the beach. This is in really bad condition. It is man made and the sandbags used for fill were showing. Lots of seaweed. I am a beach person and saying this I did not sit on the beach at all. Very Nice Resort at a good price!

The hotel was great. The room spacious and very nicely decorated. We had the 4th floor of section 7 facing the garden. It was very quiet and conveniently located next to the small quiet pool. The beach was disappointing but we heard that from previous reviews so it wasn't a surprise. There were lots of chairs on the beach though so that made up for it. one other thing that I didn't really like was that the pools closed at 7PM. I felt that was really early because I like to take a swim in the ev [... read more]ening after a hot day.I think 10PM would be more reasonable. They said that they closed at 7 to clean the pools but I never once saw anyone cleaning the pools other than in the morning. The entertainment at night was average. Nothing really blew us away. The could work on that part of the experience. On a couple nights we left because it wasn't very good. The food was good. We could always find something good to eat. Maybe more cooked vegetables. There were a lot of proteins but not many veggies to choose from. The restaurants were good and we always managed to get a reservation. The french was our favorite. we weren't bothered by the timeshare people like some reviewers. We were told how to deal with them just in case but it wasn't needed. Prices in the gift shops weren't much different than the prices when we went to 5th avenue shopping. If I had my time back I wouldn't have gone. there were too many people picking at us to go into their stores. It really turned us off. Maybe try somewhere less touristy. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort to anyone that is interested in going for a relaxing vacation.

Fantastic resort

This hotel was very clean, well kept and the staff were amazing. I did find the beach was what I expected but still well kept and clean. Would definately go back. The rooms were so clean and were cleaned every day. The food was awesome and always had something different to pick from.

Not good

we had ants little red ones in our room they we in our clothes , bed we fought with them for 3 days about it then came and sprayed raid finally the third day they move us to a new room got up the next day and that room had ants on the balcony going up the wall this ones were black then came and fumigated our balcony so it was fine after that

Resort Ok

Was at this resort April 23rd to 30th. This was my 7th time in Maya Riviera and I have to say this was, at the most a 4 star resort. The food was good, the grounds were very clean. The beach was murky. This was disappointing. There was occasionally a foul smell throughout the resort. I had a good time but I will not go back to this resort, however I will go back to the Maya Riviera.

Loved this place!

I really enjoyed my 1st visit to Mexico & loved the resort! I will admit the wifi was annoying but it is a vacation so I put my phone down and enjoyed my hubby! Great staff, great room, amazing food!!

Amazing resort!

We travelled to Blue Bay with two other couples and had a wonderful week.The hotel is clean and spacious. The grounds and beach are beautiful and very well maintained. The food was very good and a great selection to choose from. Reading many reviews before we visited I was not sure what to expect. Many complaints about the seaweed on the beach as we all know this is natural. I live in Nova Scotia and believe we have some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere but they come complete with rock she [... read more]lls and seaweed! We were given the opportunity to visit the sister hotel Blue Diamond for a couple of days. WOW if you have the chance I strongly recommend you visit there. It is five star all the way!! Thank you Walter at the concierge desk for providing us this opportunity. Blue Bay is large but very easy to get around we never had to wait any longer than five minutes for a drive. The signage is excellent so even someone like myself who is not good with following directions it was very easy. Do not go on your patio without your door card and shut the door or you will be locked out. If you do not want the animals visiting you on your deck do not feed them. I have not one negative thing to say regarding our week at these two beautiful facilities. I can not say enough good about the amazing staff at these two resorts.a special shout out to Alberto and Victor who served us breakfast and dinner daily also provided me with salt for my sore throat. Thank you to Nacho at DiveX for the great day on the water and his very interesting stories. We have travelled south for many years and different destinations these two facilities rank in the top. As this review may sound great to the giant company that is the owner of these fine hotels never forget it is the STAFF that make these two place not just another southern destination!

Very nice - outstanding value

Stayed at the Blue Bay Mar 21 to 31 2015. Third time there. It's certainly not a five star, but for the cost it stellar. Two most favourable things are the excellent staff who ALWAYS go the extra mile and the food. Really great! It's a big resort so lots of walking, but for us that's perfect after one of the great a la cart dinners. Lastly, the fitness facility is the best I've seen at a resort, and honestly, that's a huge benefit.

Budget resort ....

Food was good, lots choices, resort too big and spread out, have to take the little train everywhere, overall it def needs renovations and upgrades , not comparable to other 5 star resorts, our first room the bed smelled like urine and the bathroom like mold , we had to switch rooms, major party crowd and very loud , not relaxing at all, staff was nice and helpfull though!

Great Resort

We quite enjoyed the resort. The ocean water was really stirred up and was always dirty looking. You could go in it but not as nice as other places we have been but the beach and pools were great with lots of seating available. Food was really good also.

Amazing resort

Blue bay grand Esmeralda is a large beautiful resort! So clean, the staff are friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have a top notch experience. The food was great. Great value for your money

Amazing Resort

This was our first trip South and staying at the Blue Bay Grande Esmerelda in Riviera Maya in Mexico was an AMAZING experience! LOVED the resort, pools, the activities and the food was EXCELLENT!!! I would HIGHLY recommend staying here and we can't wait to go back next year!!!

Great Resort!

Overall, a great resort for the price. Check-in was expedient, rooms were clean and well maintained (+ AC functioned properly), the food was very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool area is quite large and finding lounge chairs was never a problem. A sail boat was available to take out on your own (not always the case), and we enjoyed the snorkeling expedition we took that left directly from the resort property.

Nice resort

The resort was very nice...everything there you would want or need...the only complaint was the bad odors in certain places as you are walking around the grounds....smelled like sewer......sea weed was a terrible problem for them this year ..so we were told......the pools are beautiful..we as older clients would like to have heard some oldie music and dancing in the evenings.....need more mixture of music and a little more lively in the evenings in the lounge ........don't need to take beach tow [... read more]els,shampoo,body wash,hair blower,.......there are stores on the resort if you did forget anything.......went down town on a shuttle bus for $6.00 each way... picks you up in the front lobby....last one to return to resort is at 6pm or you can get a taxi for $30.00 ..we found the prices much better in the store to the left as you come out of the jewelery store where they drop you off at the back of the store...but there is a Wal Mart down the street on 10th ave. At the very end to the right....I was a little nervous to go but really no need to be.... I will definitely go back again.....great vacation.....week wasn't long enough ....we were in building 6 ,room 6322,I think it was the newer section..... King size bed,very comfortable....room was beautiful...the quiet pool is near there but the beach and larger pool is quite a walk or you can be picked up with the trolleys .

Great time in the sunshine

Hotel and grounds were very nice. The food was great except the Italian restaurant. the entertainment was amazing, probably my favourite part. The beach was nice, except for the seaweed. The pools looked very nice but never went in them. The drinks were awesome and the wait staff was too.

Excellent Staff

We just returned from an eleven day stay at the BlueBay Grand Esmerelda and are pleased to report that the staff at this resort are amazing. Each and every one constantly wore a smile and went out of their way to help us. A special thank you to Augustin who works at the beach restaurant. An outstanding individual who seemed more like a friend than an employee. The food was also above par. Excellent selection and variety. We ate primarily at the a la carte restaurants (of which there are 6) and w [... read more]ere never disappointed. The Steakhouse and the Italian Restaurants were our 2 favorites. We actually ate at each of these twice. (No restrictions on how many times you can eat at the a la cartes) Many people seem to complain about the beach but we didn't have any problem with it. Yes there is seaweed but it is frequently raked up (early in the morning and then constantly through the day). There is some of the "towel tag" where people are staking out prime spots early but we never had an issue finding a decent spot. There were two things with the pool that we found a bit disappointing. No swim up bar and no real deep end. The entire pool is only 3 feet deep. (other than one small wading pool area for kiddies). But, as with the beach, it was never too hard to find a good spot to relax. Night life was quite typical of the all inclusives in the Mayan Riviera, but we were there more for the beach and the pool relaxation side of things. All in all a very enjoyable place to spend a week or so.

Very good resort

Overall the pool grounds restaurants were clean an beautiful beach was with seaweed but otherwise very good, buffets at lunch breakfast were very satisfying an at dunner plenty of good food, lots of pool entertainment which was fabulous

No beach

If you are a beach and ocean person this is not the resort for you. Pools large but very little shade. Food good...no issues. Staff friendly . Black and white bar very noisy in the evening. No lobby bar. Rooms basic,beds comfortable but noise echoes in halls so bring ear plugs for sleeping. We did smell a horrible raw sewage smell outside the lobby on the morning we were leaving. Not one of my favorite resorts in the mayan.

Wonderful place

We loved the resort, the food ,staff ,pools ,grounds were so great and we just loved the Blue Bay.we found the staff so friendly and so willing to help. The grounds are very well kept ,food was amazing,everything so clean.

GREAT!

Had an awesome time, resort was very clean, staff was friendly. no complaints. Food was good, a lot of options, bars, no night life though. Big resort but never had any issues finding chairs by the pool
