Great family resort

WE CHOSE THIS RESORT AS IT WAS ORIENTED TOWARDS CHILDREN AND WE WERE TRAVELING WITH A 4 AND 9 YEAR OLD. HOTEL POOL AND SLIDE WERE IDEAL. LOTS OF LOUNGE CHAIRS, CLEAN ROOMS AND A GREAT BEACH. THE FOOD IS TYPICAL CUBAN, NOT THE GREATEST BUT WE ALWAYS FOUND SOMETHING TO ENJOY. THE HOTEL STAFF ARE AMAZING AND REALLY TREATED US ROYALLY. ABSOLUTELY GREAT VALUE FOR FAMILIES. RECOMMEND HIGHLY.

Such a good time!

This was my first time down south, and I couldn't have picked a better resort! We had a beautiful room with two big beds, for three girls. The bathroom was a great size as well. Pool and beach were always busy, and very clean. They always gave you enough to drink .. this is a bit of a party resort. Food wasn't amazing .. but I didn't go down south for the food either. Overall beautiful resort!

Amazing Resort!

I loved that the hotel was very clean and had activities for all ages. There was always some fun activity that you could join! The service was excellent as well. It was a very safe and positive enivorment.

Good times, great people!

Too much walking, sadly not enough carts circulating through the resort. I was so upset they ran out of mint leaves for my mojito, WHAT?!?!?! Those are two not really valid concerns, the rooms were great, the people wonderful, the grounds so clean and the food was well Cuba food. They had great pizza and cappuccinos were delicious.

Amazing Beautiful Resort

We loved this resort, specially the staff. The food was good. One day I asked the chef why there is no fresh onions at salad bars "I love a slice or 2 with my food". .... LOL the next day they had the fresh onion there, which was unbelievable. The nightly shows oh my God specially the show at the swimming poll was wonderful. Great beach and pools!!

The beach in front of the resort is great compared to surrounding resorts. The quiet pool was really nice. The lobby bar was the best. When the mojito lady was at the beach bar, her mojitos were amazing, but she was only there a couple days. The iced coffee was delicious! Teppanyaki restaurant was by far the best a la carte but we only got a reservation because we booked 2 weeks in advance by email. Biggest disapointments were the room and internet ( non existent). The curtains in the room were  [... read more]moldy due to the extreme humidity. It was so humid that we needed to keep the AC cranked up or else i felt like i couldnt breathe. It was really unpleasant. I realize jts the caribbean but i've been to a ton of places where this was not an issue. For the internet, we were told their were no cards with pin codes available every day of our trip. If they didn't advertise as having internet this wouldn't be a problem but they don't even have a warning about this. Unaware this would ne a problem, we told our family to contact us by email if needed and we would try to check a few times. My data cost me 200$ for those 2 times i checked my emails. Had i known before, i would have purchased a data plan. Thankfully my wireless provider reduced it for me. So overall, i would reccomend this resort for a first all inclusive or for students.

Very nice

Location of this resort is great, we stayed for a week this past March and really enjoyed our stay. My husband and I have been travelling Cuba for a while and love the country! The people are warm and inviting and this resort was clean. The cleanliness of the resort was great, the resort itself was huge, the good was ok. However the snacks are always good and we went off resort and eat at a bunch if AMAZING restaurants in town which is a 5 minutes bus ride away. For the most part the staff was great but it wasn't as personalized as the smaller resorts... I would return for a good deal!

Great vacation, great value.

Everything was very clean, great slide for the kids. Food was just that. Staff was very friendly. We really had no complaints. Even the medical was very helpful. I unfortunately developed a serious ear infection, a result of an angry wave. People that goto to cuba and come back to complain, personally, I think have their expectations set on our standards. These people do great and offer us exceptionally priced vacations, especially if you travel with children.

Not impressed

Bad service from people. Carts were unpredictable as to when they would arrive to travel the distance of room to food. The gym was so hot it was unusable. Bad food but good deserts. Activities ended too early at night time. As 18/19 year olds we found there was nothing to do between 6pm to 9pm. And there was only one bar open late? Great hotel & beach, poor food.

Overall, the hotel was quite nice. The rooms were comfy and very clean. The beach is WONDERFUL. Unfortunately, the food was poor. We found that there were very few choices. We have heard that Cuba is known for its "bland" food but the food we had while staying at Memories just didn't taste good. Others who have stayed here have really enjoyed the food, so perhaps we just came on a bad week. When we went off resort to eat, it was wonderful.

Great Resort!!

Very large resort with all the amenities. Great walking beach, nice grounds, clean rooms and friendly staff. Lively resort with something to do for everyone. Food at the buffet was very good with a vast variety of foods. I would recommend this resort.

Enjoyable vacation

I have been to many resorts in cuba. This is by far a very good one. The weather was fantastic, the employees were great. The beach was the best beach I have been to with plenty of space for everyone, plus you can walk for miles. The food was good- lots of choices on the buffet which doesnt happen very often at a cuban resort. There was many excursions to go on plus many things to do at the resort. We stayed close to the beach which was great but to get to the buffet was a hike. Also in Varadero if you leave the resort expect to be bugged a bit more then before on tipping everywhere you go. But the people are very friendly and it is a very safe place to travel. Overall I highly recommand this resort- Memories did a fabulous job to make our vaction worth while.

Memories Varadero

The hotel grounds were lovely and the staff fantastic. We had nothing but troubles with our room however, night 1 no bed for my 11 year old daughter until 2 am, no air in master bedroom, night 2 door key would not work, it took nearly 2 hours to get into out room by the time help showed up, no air in master worker arrived at 2 am (after we were all asleep) but could not get the ac working, night 3 could not leave the room as the door would not lock, another hour wasted. workers once again arrive [... read more] in the middle of the night to repair the ac, we still have not had a good night sleep since we arrived. I travel to relax and like to enjoy a nice quiet cigar and drink in the evenings and there was no place on this resort were that was possible. The constant hum of noise and that feeling of hurry up and wait because the resort was so large was horrible. It was quieter walking the streets of Varadero than on the resort. I have taken over 20 trips south and several to Cuba, this resort was by far the worst vacation experience that we have ever had.

A wonderful family resort!

We travelled to this resort and we arrived late at night, my first impression of the staff were rude and very unprofessional and treated us like a heard of cattle. Things definately got better the next day, the resort was lovely and the staff in the resturants were great, even the gardners we very friendly and sweet, the food was pretty good for "Cuba". My family would definately go to this resort again as we know what to expect now.

Awesome resort!!!

This resort was everything we had wished for and much more. The friendly staff went above and beyond to make this trip perfect. Rooms were always clean and food was always available and delicious. The only thing I feel could be improved upon was the washrooms. We realized early on to carry toilet paper with us as they were usually out. We are already getting a group together to go back again next year!!

Amazing Vacation

We stayed at the Memories Veradero in April 2014 for 4 nights. The grounds for this resort resort are absolutely beautiful. The resort caters to all ages, you can party on 1 side of the resort or relax on the other side at the quiet pool. I went with a group of friends and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The entertainment is by far the best I have seen yet compared to previous resorts that I went to. The club was always packed at night with good music and the entertainment shows were great as well. Fo [... read more]od on the other hand was not the greatest. It tasted very bland so bring your own spices. The rooms were nice, we had a central location being in building 38 which was in between both pools (albeit a bit closer to the party pool). We stayed on the 3rd floor so we did not have any issues with bugs or noise. If you don't care about food I highly recommend this resort! you can always pack some snacks which make up for the lack of taste in the food.

Just OK

Stayed at the resort for one week. It was a large resort, with carts available to drive you around. I found the buffet options limited, and far away from our room near the beach. The food options at the buffet were very limited, and not a lot of new choices throughout our stay. The rooms were not the best, and seemed to have some damage in the bathrooms. Best place to eat was the Japenese Al'la carte, which was really good. The entertainment was good.

Great Memories at the Memories

I recently spent a weeks vacation with one of my sons at the Memories Varadero. Excellent experience! The staff customer service was fantastic. Beach was beautiful. Rooms were comfortable. Food was excellent. Entertainment was top notch. Excursions were fun. I purchased the Diamond Club option. Well worth it. Early check in; special room for eating at the buffet; special bar service on the beach; mini fridge always full. I can't say enough about the excellent service we received. Because I was with my 16 year old son, we decided to do 2 tours. The catamaran and the jeep safari. Had a fantastic time at both. The snorkeling was a little disappointing on the catamaran trip but the we made up for it on the jeep safari tour. The catamaran trip took us to the dolphin compound in the ocean. We were able to get in the water and pet the dolphins. We stayed after and took a special ride on the dolphins. All you need is a decent tip! Go for it! We were taken to a beautiful beach where we snorkeled for some time and then had an excellent lobster lunch. The boat ride was tons of fun. Open bar and plenty of friendly tourists. The jeep safari tour was the best. We toured through the wilderness to see some of the "real" Cuba. Quite an eye-opener. We went snorkeling. Beautiful coral and plenty of fish. Our guide in the water looked like Anderson Silva :) Drove to the caverns. The caverns were small but beautiful. We were able to swim and take some pictures and relax with a couple of beers. Onto the plantation where we toured through the capital of the province. We were able to taste some real bananas, honey, sugar cane, nuts, coconuts and more. We were then given a true Cuban lunch with some soup, veggies, fruit, rice and beans with a beverage. We took some time to take a quick ride on the horses and a paddleboat ride. Onto the river cruise. We decided to take advantage of the lobster dinner ($10 CUC). Well worth it. Back into the jeeps for a fun ride back. The beach is absolutely beautiful. We walked up and down the beach and visited a few of the other resorts to take a look at what they had to offer. Excellent swimming. On windy days, there were a few kite surfers as well. I spoke to a couple of them and they told me that it is an excellent place to come to when the wind is up. Memories always had lots of entertainment by the activity pool and the beach. The shows were fantastic. Talented Cuban performers! There is also a sports bar for anyone who would like to enjoy the latter part of the evenings. There is also a quiet pool if you aren't into the busy pool life. Food was better than I expected. I have been to Cuba 6 times and I was very impressed. Loads of choice. Excellent quality whether you are a big meat eater or vegan. I must thank the chefs and servers. Always smiling. Always ready to give you what you want. I enjoyed the omelets the most. I'm sorry that I can't remember her name, but, she always remembered me and was always very friendly and courteous. The same goes for the servers in the diamond club room. Gracias amigas!! Don't forget to show your appreciation with a few tips. It goes a long way. We weren't able to take in some of the historical tours, but, a few of the other tourists highly recommended the trip to Havana and the overnight tour that included the falls. As well, some of the other tourists said that it was fun to take the double-decker bus and tour the town. Loads of shopping at the Plaza Americana. Lots of bars to frequent as well! Memories has much to offer for any kind of vacationer. Family, young & older couples, young adults and friends. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Memories Varadero only average

I think the rating needs to be reviewed-this is not a 4 star hotel-but could be with some TLC. Electrical wires were sticking out where fixtures should have been-toilet needed work-pool had area with rust stains. Althought, staff was excellent & very friendly - had excellent activities - even offered Spanish Classes(very few english speaking staff) the food was displayed beautifully but was very bland- Pina Coloda's were very good. If I returned to Cuba - would try another spot.
