Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing staff, Average hotel

Starting with good stuff, Gabriel at the lobby bar and Sunay in the buffet always went above and beyond whenever we saw them. Toilet wouldn’t fill had ti fill the back with the shower, and foods bad.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Amazing beach and people

Diamond, some issues on our room door card to enter all time, bed mattress uncomfortable, food not good. Drinks service good. Customer Service excellent, good landscape. The hotel needs improvement to keep happy visitor for next trip.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Beautiful resort

We stayed there mid January for one week. There was plenty of food, the room was spotless after every cleaning. All the stuff was friendly. Nothing to complain about. Out of 7 days two morning we had no eggs but rest of the week fresh omelette for breakfast and fresh grilled fish for lunch and supper was the highlight for the week. The buff was always full of choices. Both beaches beautiful with grill and bar on the site. Quiet small resort close walk to the everything. One suggestion I would’ve that is to bring a bug repellent and use it especially at evening.

Melia Las Dunas: Good times

Let me say that I’ve been to this hotel many times, and things have gotten better. The beach stunning, the cleanliness above average, the service is freaking amazing, rooms are great, beds are comfortable, food is good I didn’t starve, far from it, so basically I had an amazing time once again, nothing’s prefect, would I go back, dame right in a heart beat, enjoy

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing Staff

Great boutique resort, easy to get around for someone with mobility issues as the property is fairly small. A lot of seniors vacation here so they need to up their game with the addition of railings to a lot of the stairs to hold for support. Bathrooms around resort very clean but not all always open and some of the handicapped ones were missing a toilet seat. Butlers were amazing, I have been to other resorts with butlers , but this resort you could always find yours, they knew who you were before you arrived, always attentive, and will bend over backwards so you can enjoy your vacation. Special shout out to our butlers Javier and Maria!! We tipped in American and Canadian currency, bills and coin, and it was never a problem. Try to bring a lot of over the counter meds for the Cuban people, Advil, Tylenol etc. they really need them.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Amazing Beach!

The beach was simply stunning, with walkable sand and warm, calm water on most days. Aside from the occasional "shark warning" that required a quick exit from the water, it was a perfect beach experience. The hotel pool was also great, with a fun and lively afternoon atmosphere. Valentin Perla Blanca: Gorgeous Resort - perfect Beach

This resort is absolutely stunning compared to others we drove by . Its light and bright lobby is so inviting. The main Bar has everything and the service is great. The coffee bar is the best in the entire place - you can get ice coffees, Spanish coffees, Irish coffees, Cappuccino, etc. etc. We had coffee there every single day. Lots of chairs to sit on at the beach. The pools were fantastic as well with lots of chairs. Its a huge resort over 1000 rooms but we went during slow time so probably only about 250 rooms rented. I am not sure i would want to be there with over 2000 people. I suspect when its full you would have a hard time getting a chair at the pool or the beach (not sure !). We will be going back there. The food is typical of all the resorts - there is plenty to eat but depends on your taste buds. Its after all Cuban and not North American food preparation. That is what people forget. There is a shortage of Toilet paper in public washrooms - so bring a couple of rolls from home and always take it with you on the resort. Your room will have toilet paper so not to worry there. The rooms were a good size and the balcony was great. We did not upgrade but had standard Gardenview room which was very nice. There are cats on the resort - so i made sure we fed them during our stay. I took my leftover food in a zip loc baggie and fed them as i saw them.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Getting Older but Never Disappoints

This is our favourite resort in Cuba and have been back 7 times. Some aspects are getting tired and could use some work but these are overshadowed by the beauty of the grounds, buildings and most importantly the staff. We will definitely be back as the value is excellent.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: QUITE RESORT

We both found this place to be very nice, 3 beaches , easy to find your way around , The Staff was excellent , very good at what they did Entertainment was great , Very Relaxing place , Food was great , never ran out of anything. We did not find any Canadian Whisky , but lots of other brands

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: 3rd Time Here

This is our third time at this specific resort. The beach and the snorkeling are great. Only complaint here would be the sand fleas and mosquitoes which were plentiful. Aquired many bites that kept us up at night due to the uncontrollable itching. Bug repellent did not help at all (for us anyway). After bite and aloe plants helped a bit, but not much. The buffet in particular. We’re not very picky, but it was kinda gross. Food was VERY limited and some of the meats were questionable whether or not they were safe to eat. Raw meat at the grill was left out at room temperature for unsafe amounts of time. I stayed away from all of the meats. Speaking with others at the resort, many had been ill with what could be from improperly prepared food (Diarrhea and vomiting). We really like the Cuban people, but won’t be returning.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great place to stay

The grounds and pool area are lovely. The beaches are gorgeous - bring bug spray with DEET. The room was incredibly clean and the room attendant (Heidi) was friendly and helpful. We opted for the butler service as well and Glendy Vidal, our butler, was extremely efficient and took care of our needs.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: True paradise

This is my 4th time going to this hotel and I love it. Ive been everywhere in Cuba and this hotel is by far my favourite. I’m a beach person and you can’t get any better than ensanachos beach it’s simply stunning!! Staff is amazing, staring from the lobby , entertainment, beach bar ensanachos , life guard, cleaning ladies , etc…. honestly they all made our stay even better! Beautiful place! weather was great, beach was Gorgeous, white sand, love it. Had small private beach to the right of hotel and another huge beach to the left. Pelicans diving for fish like missiles-amazing sight. Star fishes, red lobsters and other amazing sea creatures to see. Victor, the bus guide who escorted us back to the airport was spectacular, made sure we did not forget our luggage, passports, phones and wallets. Thank you, Victor. Loved this place. Would love to come back next month if schedule allows. This trip made me realise how much I Really missed Cuba. This was our 3rd trip to Cuba. Cuban Bheaches are the Best! Massive resort. Beautiful pools, great beach, absolutely still water. Rooms nice, most with an ocean view. The poor buffet was a sign of their failing economy. Bar staff lack customer-focussed training.

Room was good, lots of hot water were the only good things I can say. Food was awful! No eggs, minimal fruit and vegetables, getting bottled water was a fight, The snack bar ( supposed to have pizza, burgers and hotdogs only served cheese sandwiches every day except for one when they had hotdogs, which was a hotdog split down the middle on a hamburger bun NO CONDIMENTS. Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Relaxing, low key and spectacular beach!

We spent two weeks over Christmas and New Years. A small, adult only resort with great care and attention by all staff. Alejandro (General Manager) and Micaela (Assistant GM) were ALWAYS present and checking in with guests. Our butlers, Maria Rosa and Javier took awesome care of us - confirming dinners, booking massages, etc. Executive Chef Jesus and his staff presented food beautifully. Enrique, the bartender at the Seaside Bar took excellent care of us and was our Spanish tutor! All the staff were friendly and welcoming - always smiling and always greeting you. The food was good and generally available. Quality was good. The beach is the reason to go. We walked daily and never came to the end of the beach (4+ km). The ocean is a pallet of aquamarine. This is our third visit - we will return.

The hotel and rooms were OK, but the beach and pools were the highlight. This was my fourth time to Cuba, and this was my least favorite. The food was the same every day at the buffet, and the snack bar in the adults only section didn't have most of the items on the menu available. There were no eggs for a couple days. Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: stay far away!

I regret to express my disappointment with my recent experience at this resort. Despite its apparent 4.5-star rating and enticing photos, the reality fell significantly short of expectations. As someone who values comfort and seeks a luxurious vacation, I must caution prospective visitors that this may not be the ideal destination. Regrettably, the overall impression of the resort aligns more closely with a 2-star rating. Numerous aspects contributed to my dissatisfaction, including a limited [... read more] food supply, unresponsive service from the staff, and common areas that left much to be desired in terms of cleanliness. Additionally, the lack of privacy in the room, where there are no doors between the bedroom and bathroom, added an uncomfortable element to the stay. In the interest of providing constructive feedback, I hope the management considers addressing these issues to enhance the overall guest experience.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT!!!

Let me start by saying this is definitely not a 4.5 star resort. I have been to 3 star resorts in Cuba that were far more superior than the Sanctuary. I chose this resort to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday based on the reviews and pictures on the website. I wonder if these reviewers stayed at the same resort! The rooms were in a very sad state. Nothing worked in the rooms. Sliding door would not close properly and lock. Toilette did not flush properly. Hardly any water pressure for showers. So [... read more]ap dish in shower falling off wall. Mirror hanging by a thread. I’ve seen better furniture in a homeless shelter. Towels were all stained and smelled terrible. Bed sheets were also stained. Even pillow cover was stained. I called front desk to ask for new pillow cover 4 times!!! Nobody came. Hallways and stairs were never cleaned while we were there. Sewage odour seemed to be present throughout the resort. Near our building and beside buffet. Workers constantly expecting tips. What most tourists don’t know is that the staff you are tipping does not get that money. The government collects all the tips. So think about that next time you tip. Food was typical Cuban fare. They really need to do something about the unsanitary and unsafe conditions in the buffet. All the food is outdoors and flies all over all the food. Plates, cutlery and glasses filthy. They should invest in dishwashers or train staff how to properly wash these items. Uncooked meats sitting in the heat at the two grills for too long. This buffet would fail an inspection on all fronts. . Building exteriors look like they have been through a war. They are so run down it makes the resort look sad. We were also surprised at the lack of good Cuban coffee like we have experienced in other resorts. Cappuccinos tastes like weak regular coffee. Espresso tasted like watered down coffee. I am second generation Italian and can honestly say the coffees we had at the Sanctuary were horrible. I was very disappointed. The beach is this resorts only positive it has going for it. This resort needs a lot of work before they can claim to be a 4.5 star hotel. I would never return to this resort and would not recommend it to anyone considering coming here for their next vacation. I hope you take my advice and stay away from this resort.
