Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Beautiful Setting

The grounds and setting were very pretty - lots of beautiful vegetation and flowers. The resort is quite compact, with all the rooms a short walk to the pool, restaurants and beach. The pool was very nice, the beach gorgeous (but the waves made it difficult for me to swim.) The food was quite good, though I'm not a big fan of buffets. My second room on the ground floor room was perfect. I found the service in the restaurant uneven. It was often difficult to find someone to get a place setting, or a cup of tea/coffee in the morning. The hardworking bartenders were great, however.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Enjoyable resort

The grounds were well kept. I liked that there was a small size pool in a quieter area. It was a busy week when we attended. I would suggest a quiet indoor room library style where guests can go rest or read. Our room was spacious and clean. The hot water was not always available. The dining staff were very helpful and attentive. There was a wide variety of choices offered during the week.

Playabachata Hotel: Clean resort

The resort is clean is all I can say I read all the reviews and thought that the bad ones was just human nature that you can’t please everyone,but now I can say is it was the worst place to look after the customers no a/c complained many times and nothing was done got taxi to city through the hotel only to find out from taxi driver not to book through them as they get a cut he said if you call taxi yourself he would have charged half what we paid .ITS the same gross food ,drinks and the shows we [... read more]re not worth going to we-will never go back we went with a party of 8 bad knees bad hips and the put us the farthest away from everything and none us us where even close to one another

Playabachata Hotel: Terrific resort!

Upgrades to the electrical were appreciated. The food was the best yet. They catered to their international visitors'preferences. Staff very friendly and obliging. Entertainment and pool activities were great.I love the layout of the resort and it's beautiful landscape. Will keep returning every year.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Attended for business conference gone bad LSC

We booked months in advance as a large company and were very very disappointed!! Two notes before the review- the event staff and coordinator were amazing but not related to the resort. The staff friendly but.,,As one of the senior event attendees - my room - the most basic of things that you need to travel, shower did not work, nothing in fridge, toilet paper not replaced, coffee maker did not work, one bottle of water that would not open, safe broken, mold everywhere in room, I had to pay to  [... read more]go to the spa just to get a shower and toilet paper!!! Unacceptable, I am not picky but shower toilet paper toilet and coffee required. Asked numerous times not addressed. No Wi-fi, members of our large group got severely ill and when asked for help were made to walk to the lobby while projectile vomiting. We are going to be seeking refunds or legal action

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Perfect Vacation at VH GranVentana

We were two couples that stayed in building 2 at VH Gran Ventana. First time at this resort and it was everything we hoped for. Food was amazing and staff were also great. Rooms were spacious enough and very clean. Carlos and animation staff were terrific. Could not have asked for a better place to stay, Will definitely be back.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Do not stay here! - Completely unsafe and numerous cases of extortion by management

I really wish I could say otherwise but I had a terrible experience at Blue Bay Villas in the Dominican Republic. This place is dangerous, falling apart, and I was extorted during my time here. Before you ignore this review please check all the positive reviews and notice they are all written in Spanish and translated to English. This tells me they were written by staff or locals to boost the overall score considering that 95% of all guests are from Canada and would never write a review in Spani [... read more]sh... During my stay, I was injured when the shower glass suddenly cracked in half, causing a deep cut to my arm that required stitches and a tetanus shot. I was given very basic medical attention and instead of offering any sort of compensation or even an apology for the faulty glass cutting me, the management called the police and forced me to pay for the damages. When I say forced, I mean 4 police officers arrived and I was told by management "if you don't pay for the broken shower glass you will be arrested and taken to jail". $200 CAD for this. This is blatant extortion like I've never seen before. I wasn’t the only guest that dealt with being extorted by management/police either. Another young man was forced to pay $100 USD after accidentally breaking a small plastic 12”x12” sign when he fell over and another $20 USD for a plastic cup that cracked when it hit the ground. Like that's a joke let's be honest. It’s very clear this resort is looking for any excuse to squeeze money out of guests. I traveled with 10 people (5 couples), and every single couple had to be moved to at least one new room during our 7-night stay due to serious safety issues. Some had to move three or more times! Safes not attached to the walls, no locks on doors, faulty key cards that randomly stopped working and broken wall sockets, making it unsafe to plug anything in. We learned that the resort was purchased a few years ago to be torn down for apartment buildings, and since then, it's clear that absolutely no money has been put into maintenance or guest safety. The owners are clearly just running it into the ground while scamming as much money from guests as possible. The only good thing about this place was the waiting staff, entertainment team, and bartenders. They were absolutely amazing—friendly, hardworking, and genuinely doing their best despite the awful conditions. It’s a shame they have to work under such corrupt and careless management. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The management is corrupt, the resort is falling apart, and they are actively scamming guests while neglecting basic safety. Do yourself a favor and book anywhere else. There are plenty of better resorts in the Dominican Republic that actually prioritize safety and guest satisfaction. Overall, spend the extra couple hundred $ so that you can keep yourself and your family safe!

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Resort is only a three star.

The rooms had a musty smell. The patio door did not lock. You pay for a key to the safe. The food was the same each day. The grounds were clean and the view was beautiful of the beach. The Sunwing host at the resort is not honest and can not be trusted. (Miguel)

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Awful experience!!!!!!!

Cracked tub, door that doesn't lock, no hot water, 2 hour+ check in, sewage flies, sewage smell early a.m and evening. Cracked tub - literally the entire tub Cracked. When you wouod shower, it felt as though you were going to get tetanus from a cut or break the tub *complained to Manager, nothing resolved* Door - locked some times, other times didn't. Thank goodness we didn't travel with expensive items. No hot water - literally freezing cold. Certain times of day were luke warm, some f [... read more]reezing cold. The tub didn't even drain! Absolutely disgusting. 2 hours + check in - we arrived at 1 PM. Waited in line for 1.5 hours, until 230 PM only to be told "your rooms are not clean" so heres the bracelet, feel free to enjoy amenities but leave your bags at the front (where anyone can take from). Sewage flies - first time showering my 5 y.o (Who is terrified of bugs, cried the entire shower), 5 sewage flies swarm her. Which if you research sewage flies, are not hygienic. This is where they are commonly from...slow or clogged drains, rarely used and unused toilets, refrigerator drain pans, and standing water created by leaking pipes. We typically saw 3-5 of them per DAY!!! Sewage smell - this is a smell one can never, ever forget. I'm 99% sure why we all had vomiting, and diarrhea 2-3 of the days we were within this resort. We often witnessed waitresses going to the bathroom, simply rinsing their hands with water, ZERO soap used. From 7-10 am you can only smell sewage from almost everywhere on the resort except by the beach. Same from 5-8, sewage smell. Theres a certain path, in the 300s where it CONSTANTLY smells of sewage. Would I go back? hell no!!! The Vilas looks nice however were never offered as an option. I'd pay $1000s of dollars more if it means a cleaner and more hygienic option. Avoid this resort at all cost. Spend the extra money and go for the 5 star. Skip at all cost.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Nice resort

Nice resort but it's age is starting to show. Bath tub in room was repaired one too many times. A friend who came with us had a terrible room, too many issues to list and the front staff were unhelpful. No satisfaction was received even after talking to Air Transat rep until we spoke to the staff in the vintage lounge. Our 2nd time here and might be our last. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Old Resort, needs repair

Room very dirty and not fixed after 4 repeated complaints. Front desk staff not helpful and will even lie to get you to go away. Locks on patio doors not working (fell apart). Water turned off twice during peak hours (once for 10 hours). No hot water for 24 hours. Fruit platter received for premium booking full of fruit gone bad with fruit flies. Management did nothing to help with complaints.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Average

Resort is clean workers are friendly food was ok Mediterranean (seafood) wasn’t what it was hipped to be but ok. Rooms were clean shower was a challenge constantly changing temp sometimes no cold sometimes no hot. Beach is really rocky getting in and was rough, there was small pieces of garbage all over beach and further down beach to north beach was like a dump really bad. Would we go back… not a chance

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: A fairly good resort

The grounds are beautiful. The walkways are not Conducive for wheelchairs. If you need a wheel chair do not go to this resort. Food is good in the buffet, but big line-ups for dinner. Beach club food is pretty awful. Rooms are very basic, not 3 star. However you only sleep in the room. Blue Bay Villas is strictly a resort. Doesn’t appear to be any local sightseeing there. The staff are very friendly. Some parts of the resort are tired and need renovating.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Honest Review

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Gran Ventana Beach Resort

Grounds are well maintained, always able to find lounge chairs on the beach by moving to the perimeter of their beachfront. Unfortunately around the main pool many of the lounge chairs are saved by hotel guests early every morning with towels and other personal items. The Gran Ventana staff will occasionally remove the towels on chairs early just before 8 am on some days. Rooms, pool areas, hallways are cleaned daily. The Fitness room door was supposed to open each morning at 7 am, unfortunately [... read more] this did not happen every day. Many days staff did not get the Fitness room door open till 7: 15 am. One day they had trouble locating the key to the glass door of the Fitness Room till approximately 8am. The a la carte restaurant booking starts every Sunday morning at 8am for the following week ( Monday till Sunday). If you arrive on a Monday, Tuesday or later in any week you may have to accept an 8:30 pm or 9 pm start time for any restaurant times. If you want a quiet meal, the Octopus or Sapore Di Mare resaurants are pleasant. The Ocean Grill for some reason acoustically seems much noisier and as loud if not louder as the main Las Almejas Buffet Restaurant for evening meals. The food was quite good at all the restaurants, however some choices, seafood, beef, etc were sometimes too salty.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Resort

This was our first time at this resort. The grounds are immaculate. The location is perfect, very private. It is a nice walk to Amber cove where you can watch the cruise ships coming and going. It's not a big resort which is what we like. The amenities at Playa Bachata resort are also nice. We were in a luxury Jr suite ocean view room. A couple of times we had no hot water, but it wasn't a big deal. Housekeeping does a great job at cleaning the rooms. We left a note in the mini bar for extra wat [... read more]er and coffee pods each day and this was fulfilled. The buffet was good, but very repetitive with the food choices. They put the food out early so it's not very warm and things like pancakes are premade and cold. The buffet opens at 7am but the bacon doesn't come out until between 7:30am and 8:00am and it goes quickly. They also didn't have bacon every day. The Italian restaurant was good. The salmon at the steakhouse was amazing, but the steak wasn't very good. There isn't much of a show at the hibachi table at the Japanese restaurant, but the food was good. The service was really slow at the Sports bar if you sit in the lobby. We ordered onion rings and they came overcooked and there were only 4 small onion rings on the plate. I don't recommend the food there. They have an abundance of loungers now but could still use a few more umbrellas. The staff are great, especially Guillermo at the buffet. He got to know what we liked to drink and would bring it without us even asking when he saw us coming and kept our coffee filled in the morning. Tropicana Avenue is a great place to get ice cream and a coffee after dinner where you can sit and enjoy it close to the beach. Overall, this is a very nice resort that we would return to.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Disappointed

Had a good time but to many cons Pool was dirty and the pool deck Service No alcohol in rooms Entertainment not great Husband lost his phone and nobody seemed to be concerned Overall we had a pleasant stay. Japanese and steakhouse restaurants were very good but didn't like the fact that we had to eat at 6pm, we felt very rushed Housekeeping was great they always did something special in our room!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Nice quaint resort

The resort was nice and great staff. All very friendly and helpful. Our room wasn’t very big and little run down but for sleeping it was fine. Food was really good and you had 4 nice a la carts to pick from for dinner that were really good. Resort wasn’t too big but we liked that future and beach was very clean and beautiful. Tons of space at the beach to enjoy. Even the beach bar/restaurant was really good with stone cooked pizza’s. I give this resort 4 out of 5 and would go back to it.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Fabulous All Inclusive

Absolutely the best! We never lacked for anything. Super clean all the time,great food and choices of quiet or party atmosphere day and night. All the staff were courteous and met our requests each day. Snorkeling right off the beach, volleyball at the beach or pool,.gym and nightly entertainment plus so much more..we even played a dart tournament!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Never made it

I would have loved to have commented on the resort but unfortunately we never got there. After 3 delays with Sunwing and the fact we were losing 3 full days of a 7 day vacation we decided to cancel . Maybe in the future we will have the opportunity to visit this resort. I am rating good for everything as I had friends there that really enjoyed the resort.
