Great Vacation

First the great - beach was awesome, staff friendly and always willing to accomodate. Shout out to Joel at the martini bar, Yurita our maid, the evening grill guy who made me stir frys and the pizza guy in the snack bar who was constantly busy. The resort was very clean as was our room, drinks were very good and the rum and beer flowed freely. We did find the resort crowded, they were at capacity and sadly this showed. Trying to get a lounge chair at the pool was near impossible after 8am  [... read more]and I'm sorry but I was on vacation and refused to get up at 6am as some guests were doing to secure a lounger. As well if you didnt get to the buffet early there were line ups for a table. Linens were in short supply and we had one facecloth on the first day then it was never replenished. We did ask for extra pillows and were able to have these brought to our room by the lovely Yurita. The food was about what we expected for Cuba - we did not go hungry but it was difficult to find food that was more than luke warm at the buffet - hence the stir fry. In terms of value for your dollar - this was not an expensive place to go in comparison to Jamaica or other islands and while we had a great time (due to positive attitude and the people we made friends with there) I think I'll spend a little more next time and go to a country where they dont struggle so much with accessing supplies. The weather was great when we were there and thats what we went for. If you want gourmet food and luxury bedding and towels dont go to Cuba!

The girls hit Memories Flamenco

I spent a week at Flamenco with my two daughters (13 & 15 years old). We had a great week, room was clean and very well taken care of over the week, staff was generally very friendly and I found it easy to have answers to any questions, the food was perfectly ok and a lot of variety, despite hearing that the buffet was not great. The pools were a delight, swim up bar, my first experience with that, was fun and  [... read more]easy, great morning latte's, gardeners, two in particular, were thoughtful and engaging and we got daily fresh coconuts to sip on to rehydrate.... I missed seeing and being part of local Cuban community because Cayo Coco is strictly a resort island but had some sense of locals by having good conversations with a number of the staff. Really lovely bunch of folks. I wasn't always very clear on when to tip or not tip but you sort of figure that out as you go and I didn't feel any particular pressure to do so. We did a 1 day excursion on a catamaran and that was fabulous! The clear water is surreal and temperature was lovely and refreshing! My girls and I left feeling that we had had a really good vacation, made some great connections with staff, had great laughs and lots of relaxation.

Worth what we paid

The food was typical Cuba food. Not much changed day to day on the buffet. Did not do ala Cartes. Beach is fantastic always chairs and helpful attendants. No rocks, you dont need water shoes, bring your snorkels for the calmer days. Pool chairs are harder to find if you wait to save one. The lack of toilet paper in all public washrooms was concerning. I brought kleenex with me everywhere and needed it 9 out of 10 times. Everyone was disgusted with how little care was taken in all the washrooms.( [... read more]except our own room). Maids did a very nice job on our room.

Great resort

They have done an amazing job with the beach and you can now walk for miles. Beach chairs can be hard to come by in the shade but they are building new palapas. Snorkeling is good and the Catamaran guys will take you out to the reef if you wish for 10 CUC PP for even better snorkeling. Room was good stayed in building 7, great housekeeping staff, all staff at this resort are wonderful and helpful. Wonderful cappuccinos as well! This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this resort and it just keeps getting better!

Memories Flamenco, Cayo Coco

Our first day there we were Mesmerized by the beautiful beach. Great improvement from previous years. The staff and entertainment was great. Food was good, but better in previous years. The rooms need many improvements. My brother and his wife travelled with us and unfortunately they got bitten by bedbugs. The doctor said mosquitoes, however, from the five couples traveling together, they were the only ones. Not one bite on the rest us. We didn't even see mosquitoes around us. I reported it at 9am that morning, was not fixed until 7pm that night, and only because I reminded them at 5pm and at 6:30is I marched down and demanded attention , now. Apologies all,over the place, but it really put a damper on our holiday. The manager personally met up with me and apologized, said they have been booked solid for months and have not had a chance to work on repairs. Come May, their slow period, his plan is bring things up to par. I certainly hope so. This was our third visit, and we would love to go back, but only when and if things improve. The idea of bedbugs creeps me out. Hope they deal with it, quick.

Wonderful resort

The resort was clean, the buffet restaurant had a variety of food and the shows that were put on every night were great. The staff, especially waitress, waiter and the bartender at the pool bar were amazing, they took care of us all the time. I have to say Orlando(pool bartender) was absolutely the best!! I would recommend this resort and would also go back there.

Another great visit to Memories

Our second trip to Memories with the kids - another great vacation. Staff is wonderful, especially the kids staff. The beach has been improved greatly. Explored other resorts. Very safe environment. A la carte restaurants were really good

Awesome resort

The staff was great the beaches magnificent the buildings need some maintaince but not enough to make me not want to go back...just wish they didn't have student groups..not really the place for that with young children around.

Great resort

We really enjoyed the resort ...they had lots to do and the area was clean...food good for Cuba pool clean rooms clean especially if you leave little gifts for housekeeping. Recommend getting out to Lennies for a lobster meal ....short cab ride I would reccomend this resort..with or without kids.......need lots of Peso's lol

Fantastic family vacation

Ok so let's start off by saying there are two things you can expect in Cuba. 1 the food is fairly bland, and the rooms are ok. 2 the people are AMAZING, the service is great and the resort is fantastic. If you are going there for the food, you have picked the wrong destination. But the rest of your vacation will be great. It didn't hurt that the weather was perfect. The people at the resort are very accommodating, for example, our toilet broke on day 4. We called the lobby and they had it f [... read more]ixed within 2-3 hours. Pretty good since it would take much longer even at home to have that done. The people on the grounds were so amazing to my young daughters. Always handing them a flower, or making a bird out of palm leaves to give to them, or even getting down a coconut and carving it up for them. The beach was spectacular and we snorkeled ever day right off the beach. We saw tons of different fish, sting rays and hermit crabs. There is also a catamaran (hobie cat) which for 20 cucs they will take you out to a reef that is unreal. There is plenty of activity around the pool if that is your speed, or you can go to the upper pool for a little quieter suntanning. The 24 hour bar is really great and the coffee is spectacular, we already miss it. Do not hesitate to go to this resort, but taper your expectations on the food. The place is very clean and no one on our trip got the least bit sick.

Love this place!!!

This place is amazing, people are awesome!!! All you have to do is go with open mind that you are in Cuba. Lovely grounds, lots of activities if you want to join in.I would go back in a second!! All in all was a great place to stay!!

Excellent Resort

What can I say. Resort was top notch. Food was wxcellent, Staff were kind and friendly. Rooms were extra clean. Linen and towels were changed when requested. All of the staff worked hard to please the tourists.

Great Resort

Beach is wonderful. Good food -- buffet restaurant can be quite loud at times during supper hours. The Mediterranean specialty restaurant was very good. The snackbar food is just ok. Chairs at the pool and the beach are a big issue. Rude people go out early in the a:m to put towels and personal items on chairs and save them in 3 different locations depending on their mood. We literally encountered a family of 5 save chairs on the beach in the sun and in the shade as well as more at the pool at [... read more] the same time. Others couldn't ever get chairs. The entertainment was very good. Rooms are bit tired and could stand some "refreshing". Stay in buildings 1, 2 or 3 as they are closest to everything.

Beach was beautiful Staff were amazing Rooms were very clean but the beds were uncomfortable Kids club staff = awesome Grounds could use some updating Food was ok- we didn't starve - a la carts were great

Pretty good resort!

We had a good time at the resort. Not impressed with not having toilet paper or paper towel for use in the public washrooms away from your room.Everything was clean and the grounds were very well kept as well as our room. The disco area was under renovations so we were not able to use that and we did find that the evening events were not all scheduled as advertised. The food was really good and the service at the buffets were excellent.

Overall a great vacation!

Upon arrival I was skeptical how the vacation was going to go. The resort isn't a new construction and the rooms left a little to be desired. What this resort was missing in its quality of upkeep was more than made up for in service, food and friendly staff! The beach is one of the nicest I've seen in the world and the Cuban people working here are some of the kindest and accommodating people I've encountered. Wonderful resort

This resort was the first time my boyfriend and I have been to Cuba and it was definitely a wonderful experience. the beach, was a lovely view and the pool was amazing as well. I always heard that the food in Cuba isn't the greatest, but we found the buffet food pretty good! so a very happy surprise. And the wait staff here were always friendly and helpful. There wasn't too much going on for entertainment, but if your looking for a relaxing time in the sun, this is definitely the place.

Great beach!

It was our 5th trip to Cuba and a second trip to Memories Flamenco. We were there in December of 2012 and had a great time. We have noticed mostly positive changes ex. the quality food and the amazing beach.. We understand that the management has changed since our first visit from being Spanish to Canadian and with it the variety of food (more international) great selection of vegetables in the buffet restaurant and great selection of deserts. I personally didn't have a good experience in a l [... read more]a carte restaurant .Was sick for 2 days after eating fried fish. Some other guests had some issues as well. The room was clean, our maid was exceptional. The grounds are kept fairly clean especially around most common areas due to the exceptionally hard working gardener whom we have recognized from our previous stay. The staff mostly very friendly. The waiters at the lobby bar area a little tardy at times and the bartenders sometimes a little impatient and inconsistent with the drinks quality, but overall very good.

Good Resort for Kids

The resort size is perfect. Beach, Pool, Buffet all within short distance from rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. My 6 year old son loved it. The beach is huge! Lenny's lobster shack is worth the trip.
